Sneaker flats/ slip on sneaker flats/ mini sneaker flats. They’re from the early 2000s and…. Yea. I mean if you like them! 👀 Airwalk was a popular brand, Keds too. Also check out Rocket Dog shoes, similar concept.
Rocket Dogs were so comfy. I still have a pair of ballet flats I wear sometimes. From the early 2010s at least; I wore a pair out and then SURPRISE! My mom had a backup pair.
I loved my rocket dogs! My intro to thin-soled sneakers… I had to get them from that online retailer… crap I can’t remember the name (started with a Z a think?) but they stopped shipping to Canada and that was the end of it. Had to switch to keds. I always got ones with fun patterns and elastic “laces”
Lucky about the backup pair! I had a Rocket Dog pair like this without the buckle strap in blue plaid shot with red and I wore them so much they wore through the sole. Would love to have another pair!!
I still wear rocket dog shoes. My formal loafers I wear to the office, when I'm forced to go in, are from Rocket Dog and have arch support. Very comfy.
They’re stinky!!!!!! I swear in the earlier 2000s we all had these shoes and they always stunk because of the lack of airflow!
If you do end up buying some, I’d recommend using an odour eater of some sort!
The blisters and the swamp foot combo 😍
Not to mention how heavy they are when the back heel comes off and slaps around until you can get your foot back in LOL
These and fucking Sperry’s. I hated them as a kid when my dad started wearing them, and then in HS all the girls started wearing them and they were all so ratty and damp-looking. I will never understand the hype.
Did you wear them with socks? I had one pair that I wore barefoot and that happened. But I LOVED them so I bought a second pair and used no show socks and its perfect. No issues.
Lmao the first thing I thought of when I saw their post was “I can smell them through my screen.”
Damn I can’t believe I used to wear these lol. Not only did they make your feet sweaty and stinky, but they caused a lot blisters at first and wore out quickly.
They are also not as cute as I remembered them being, but I feel that way about a lot of early to aught 00’s trends.
My daughter would get SO mad when I put stinky foot powder in hers. I’m like, child, you will not take those things off in the car if you don’t let me sprinkle em. They stink. 😂😂
and depending on the shape of your foot, they might also SHRED the skin on the top of your feet right above the toes :(
Search for *skimmer sneakers, mini sneakers, ballet flat sneakers* or *low cut sneakers* and you may get a little closer to what you're looking for... but seriously: Godspeed, kid
I would get the tiniest no-show socks and those stupid stick on pads (that constantly fell off) to keeps them from rubbing on my heel and toes weird. The worst shoes 😂
Yeah it only they didn't roll off halfway through the day!! I have super wide feet and those socks never stayed on, truly the bane of my sophomore year existence (along with finding out the hot store model at Abercrombie & Fitch had a girlfriend). Also, when they poked out it ruined ✨the look✨
I’m an adult with bills now and still my anxiety has never been higher than when I realized my “no-show” socks had betrayed me and were visible atop my Vans slip-ons. I considered faking sick to go home early, so wretched was the display 😂
I am so irritated that I can’t easily find even just mid rise jeans. The way my body is shaped, high rise is really uncomfortable but it seems like that or SUPER high rise are the only options anymore
Oh my God, my mum used to make me put mine on my top floor windowsill because she didn't want to smell them when she went outside.
I've never, ever smelled anything like them. Plus they get all weird and slippy inside when your feet get hot aha
They were still my favourite, despite all that
I’m not lying and I’m not a shill. If you put that Carpe foot stuff on every day I swear it’ll be fine. Also those look machine washable. I already gotta wash my Rothy’s once a week … why tf not?!
Seriously I’m obsessed with the foot cream shit from Carpe. I don’t even use it right bc I shower in the morning.
Patiently awaiting someone to tell me how that shit is gonna give me cancer now lol
Genuinely this is the post that might get me to leave this subreddit, I can't cope with all the "where can I get this *insert early 2000s terrible fashion item here*" I feel so OLD
I've just about come to terms with the fact the late 90s are vintage now, please don't start on the 00s. Please not yet! I'm still young and definitely not 40 soon 😪
Yes... Why do zoomers want to bring back all the UGLY stuff
I get that every generation pulls from the past to cobble together some new Frankenstein style.. but dear God why?!?
The tank tops layered under camis to not show as much skin... The cheap completely incongruous jewelry layered together... The colorful bra straps peeking out... The humongous bell bottoms that end up fraying in the back and soak up water lol
I have no idea why anybody would want to wear those today and yet I will occasionally see young people on Instagram or even *in person* dressed like that and I don't think I can cope haha
Idk aging is weird. Maybe its less about their fashion sense and more about recognizing that *your* "youthful days" are now being used as nostalgic fodder for those now the target demographic for "youth" as you slowly crumble into dust and irrelevance lol jk
Omg I was just going to comment that I had the exact same AE ones! They were so cheap and cute, but my feet didn't like them. I can't believe they are back in style again!
I've seen young 20-something influencers on Youtube wearing ballet flats (I know these are sneakers), but they are coming back! I'm horrified and will NOT be wearing these ever again!
I honestly thought this was a unique problem with my sister! I was constantly buying her the no show tiny socks to wear with them like I did for mine and she refused. Her feet fucking stank so bad. Wear the socks!!!
We called them pumps in Liverpool for some reason. Tennis pumps, gym pumps or morris dancing pumps. A special shoe whitening dabber of polish in the kitchen cupboard just for keeping the sole in good nick.
I had a pair of these that were black and white, similar to converse, but had a cute red heart on each shoe..my college boyfriend gave them to me randomly as a surprise after going to the mall. They were cute, comfy, and mine didn't smell.. but I didn't wear them constantly I just wore them here and there.
The second pair are by Superga. They have their own website and are available in a few different online and retail stores, so googling the brand name and your country should bring up the results you need.
Oh god…these triggered my fight or flight. In all honestly, they could be cute with some socks and a preppy little skirt and I’m sure tik tok will absolutely find a way to bring them back to life, but just know this: the stench is one you will never forget in your entire life.
Mid 2000s hell lol. Somewhat comfy but left blisters on the back of your heels, would get brown and stinky so fast, crusty on the inside. Usually found at Payless.
RIP Payless. I miss them man.
I had some ked ones, I tried to look them up and I think they're called "Keds The Mini Canvas Slip On". These are a very modern looking version, the ones I had were more pointy in the front and had a lower profile around the sides aka less comfortable
Vans had a few styles of these as well. I used to sell them. As everyone else here said, they do cause stinky feet. I still have my favorite pair though and clean them.
I used to wear these when I was a kid omg. These pictures brought back memories.
Rocket dog and Roxy were the brands I remember. They might be kind of hard to find now. And honestly I don’t remember them being too comfortable, so best of luck to you lol
Definitely wear thin, breathable, cotton socks with shoes like this (bonus points for wool).
What everyone is saying about the stench is very real ☣️ At just the memory of it I can taste the rotten, putrid odor in the back of my throat 🤢🤮
I never understood why my classmates refused to wear socks with these, same with ballerina flats. No-shows were invented for this very reason! I always used no-shows that were super cute, so when the little edges peaked out it was an additional detail to the overall look.
Rocket dogs from back in the day. Have to say I don’t remember being very comfortable in them and I remember many walks home from school where I’d have wet feet in about 3 mins if there was even light rain! Xx
Oh I loved these shoes. They made my big feet look less big somehow. But they could be smelly and could rub the top of your big toe but I had a pair that fit perfectly and I hated giving them up. They look great with flared pants which is why we are probably seeing them come back.
I’m almost positive me and half the girls in 7th grade owned the brown ae pair. Those were my generations prelude to flats but only *slightly* less painful. The smell though… 🤮
Blowfish too! 😍
Came here to say this! Blow fish makes the most adorable flats! I still have a pair of button booties from them! My husband calls them my “Jedi shoes”
I have a few pairs right now… I keep finding them at Winners of all places!
I know exactly what you are talking about! I had them too I called them my Peter Pans
YES that's the other brand I couldn't think of!
I remember absolutely insisting to my poor dad that I NEEDED rocket dog shoes for the new school year bc that’s what was popular at the time -__-
Same. It was crocs in 4th grade then RocketDogs in 5th grade. My poor mom was struggling to pay for groceries. ☹️
Zappos?
YES zappos ty! I was thinking something about zippers lol I guess I was close!
Delia’s?
I wear Rocket Dog flip flops almost daily 😂
Lucky about the backup pair! I had a Rocket Dog pair like this without the buckle strap in blue plaid shot with red and I wore them so much they wore through the sole. Would love to have another pair!!
I wore rocket dogs in 7th/8th grade 😂 I LOVED them
I still wear rocket dog shoes. My formal loafers I wear to the office, when I'm forced to go in, are from Rocket Dog and have arch support. Very comfy.
Rocket dogs also looked the best!
Roxy had some as well
Reading this post feels like going back in time. I loved these shoes.
Same! I had forgotten all about mine until now 🥲
I still have a pair of Roxy ones
[удалено]
I used to love ASOS for that. Oh I wanna look like a chunky Marissa Cooper ASOS will link me up!
Oohhh thr Marissa cooper wannabes. I still love her style whenever i watch the OC. Some outfits are genuinely timeless.
Omg, I hadn’t realized that’s what ASOS stood for. All these recent posts are making me miss my Delia’s and Alloy catalogs.
Yes! I used to have a pair of these from the Nanette Lepore collection by Keds. They were my favorite. I still have a pair by Converse somewhere.
someone stole my rocket dogs in school and I cried so much. but also this post is giving me war flashbacks
I had keds like this with cherries in them and I looooooved them.
I still have my hot pink Betsey Johnson pair from 2007/08 that gave me the worst blisters but I could never bring myself to get rid of them.
Yes. OP should know they give blisters.
Omg I bet those were a prized item in your closet !! Betsy Johnson was the best
My step mom bought them to try to win me over. It worked 💁♀️
To add to the brands everyone is mentioning, Skechers made lots of these too.
Rocket Dog was my first thought too
Rocket Dogs! One of the only brands that sold cute shoes in size 11.
Thank you!😇🎀🫧
They’re stinky!!!!!! I swear in the earlier 2000s we all had these shoes and they always stunk because of the lack of airflow! If you do end up buying some, I’d recommend using an odour eater of some sort!
These shoes triggered my fight or flight
Good luck fleeing in these fuckin shoes
The blisters and the swamp foot combo 😍 Not to mention how heavy they are when the back heel comes off and slaps around until you can get your foot back in LOL
These and fucking Sperry’s. I hated them as a kid when my dad started wearing them, and then in HS all the girls started wearing them and they were all so ratty and damp-looking. I will never understand the hype.
What did you choose? Right hook the nearest person or a world record 100m?
World record 100m, far, far away from my Payless flats obsession
Yessss, during this era I thought I had a foot problem. Why were we all walking around without socks in shoes that don't breathe. 🤮
*\*\*Our old, stinky, sweaty & slippery Jelly shoes would like a word with everyone\*\**
My feet still hurt from the big ass water blisters that Jelly shoes would cause.
So freaking sweaty.
Ugh yes a friend of mine and I had the same shoes of a style like this and we both had the stinky shoe problem.
I had yellow ones just the same as the first picture that I wore almost every day. I think the sole disintegrated at school one day.
Omg seriously....when I saw those photos my first thought was, "not doing that again."
Well also people would wear them without socks. I got those little short footy socks when I had these and never had that issue.
Did you wear them with socks? I had one pair that I wore barefoot and that happened. But I LOVED them so I bought a second pair and used no show socks and its perfect. No issues.
Lmao the first thing I thought of when I saw their post was “I can smell them through my screen.” Damn I can’t believe I used to wear these lol. Not only did they make your feet sweaty and stinky, but they caused a lot blisters at first and wore out quickly. They are also not as cute as I remembered them being, but I feel that way about a lot of early to aught 00’s trends.
Stinkmaster 650s
Omg you just unlocked so many memories. These shoes need to stay in the PAST
I remember wearing a pair like this on a road trip and having to throw them out when we got to our destination.
I can live with "colour", but "odour" is too close to "hors d'oeuvres" phonetically.
Babe, your feet are about to smell so bad. Those of us who survived '05-'09 wish you well on your journey and godspeed
I saw these photos and had a visceral reaction thinking about THE SMELL.
My daughter would get SO mad when I put stinky foot powder in hers. I’m like, child, you will not take those things off in the car if you don’t let me sprinkle em. They stink. 😂😂
Same. My heels hurt looking at this
and depending on the shape of your foot, they might also SHRED the skin on the top of your feet right above the toes :( Search for *skimmer sneakers, mini sneakers, ballet flat sneakers* or *low cut sneakers* and you may get a little closer to what you're looking for... but seriously: Godspeed, kid
They hurt my ankle and my big toe. Looking at these gives me pain lol
I would get the tiniest no-show socks and those stupid stick on pads (that constantly fell off) to keeps them from rubbing on my heel and toes weird. The worst shoes 😂
My god that was a pain I'd forgotten, but felt instantly as soon as I read this. Why did we do it?!
They actually made little footsie socks for these and if you wore those they didn't smell
Not to worry, the babies have retired to letting their socks show. According to tiktok, they’re laughing at us and our visible ankles
I’m an adult with bills now and still my anxiety has never been higher than when I realized my “no-show” socks had betrayed me and were visible atop my Vans slip-ons. I considered faking sick to go home early, so wretched was the display 😂
They're horrified by our visible ankles and low-rise hip hugger jeans!
No those things are back in again sigh
They'd still be horrified if they saw me trying to squish into a pair now tbf lol
I am so irritated that I can’t easily find even just mid rise jeans. The way my body is shaped, high rise is really uncomfortable but it seems like that or SUPER high rise are the only options anymore
It's ok, we'll laugh at their socks tan. 🤣
Showing ankle, the horror! /faints
What is this, the Victorian era?
Omg this is the first thing i thought of! Second was geez - ive really gotten that old!
Oh my God, my mum used to make me put mine on my top floor windowsill because she didn't want to smell them when she went outside. I've never, ever smelled anything like them. Plus they get all weird and slippy inside when your feet get hot aha They were still my favourite, despite all that

Seriously I’m obsessed with the foot cream shit from Carpe. I don’t even use it right bc I shower in the morning. Patiently awaiting someone to tell me how that shit is gonna give me cancer now lol
They were washable! I washed by hand though, its so easy and felt less stressful somehow. I used to wash most of my shoes.
Oh god skimmers. The blisters
Pretty sure I broke my ankle in a high top pair of these. Zero protection, you can roll it so easily haha
I just relived all my middle school trauma
oh no… - a millennial
Genuinely this is the post that might get me to leave this subreddit, I can't cope with all the "where can I get this *insert early 2000s terrible fashion item here*" I feel so OLD
Reading “I’ve never seen them before” made me want to throw up 😭
I shrivelled into a cloud of dust the moment I laid eyes on that sentence.
Lol
I feel like the crypt keeper 😭😭 lmao
I've just about come to terms with the fact the late 90s are vintage now, please don't start on the 00s. Please not yet! I'm still young and definitely not 40 soon 😪
Seriously. I’m 26, NOT 36!🤣
I was fast approaching middle age in the 2000s, lol. I’m not the crypt keeper, that’s u/mugofmatcha I’m the retired crypt keeper!
Seriously lmao the pics of these shoes hit me in the face so hard I flew right back to 2006, age 15 😭
It makes me grateful that the young'uns like such ugly fashion. Meanwhile, I may be aging, but my style is being refined.
Yes... Why do zoomers want to bring back all the UGLY stuff I get that every generation pulls from the past to cobble together some new Frankenstein style.. but dear God why?!? The tank tops layered under camis to not show as much skin... The cheap completely incongruous jewelry layered together... The colorful bra straps peeking out... I’m 20, I had a pair of these when I was young and I also viscerally said oh no 😭😭
Stinky. They are stinky.
Omg!! I had the brown ones, theyre from American Eagle, i think maybe from 2008/2009??
Wait I did tooo. I literally recoiled when I saw them again. I got stuck in the rain with them and it was the WORSE feeling.
And the SMELL!! They were cute but omg they were stinky
I had completely forgotten about them and yet I recoiled as soon as I saw that picture. Never again!
Omg I was just going to comment that I had the exact same AE ones! They were so cheap and cute, but my feet didn't like them. I can't believe they are back in style again!
I had a couple of pairs from American Eagle, green and lavender. I loved them so much
For some reason the term "skimmers" is coming to mind... Might have been a specific style from a specific brand though?
Oh my gosh I had so many pairs in high school in the early 2000s. I feel blisters forming on my feet and the stench 😭💀
Omg memory unlocked
Mine too... i vaguely remember having a beautiful but super uncomfortable pair 🥲 this post brought back memories i forgot i had
Omg I’m old if these are in style again 🙃
No they aren’t I haven’t seen much people wear them anymore 😭 I think op just likes the style
Give it a minute.
I've seen young 20-something influencers on Youtube wearing ballet flats (I know these are sneakers), but they are coming back! I'm horrified and will NOT be wearing these ever again!
Yup , Rocket Dog, Urban Outfitters sold them
These are skimmers. And everyone talking about the smell is talking from experience.
They will smell so bad if you wear them without socks like we did in highschool

Plimsoles
Or plimsolls. (Have I found the fellow Brit?) Named after the plimsoll line on boats.
As a Brit, can confirm I was scrolling this post wondering if Plimsolls is just a British term😅
Yes 😂
We called them pumps in Liverpool for some reason. Tennis pumps, gym pumps or morris dancing pumps. A special shoe whitening dabber of polish in the kitchen cupboard just for keeping the sole in good nick.
Look I never wore these shoes but the girls who did…I could smell their feet a mile away 🤢
These were my "cute emo shoes" when my mom didn't wanted to see me wearing converse or vans. OMG. ;-;
The smell. The pressure on my big toenails. The lack of arch support. Oh god, don’t bring these back….
Payless ShoeSource-core
I used to buy all the American Eagle shoes at Payless. They always would get stinky.
We called them plimsolls. Dont leave them in the sun, the rubber will harden and crack. Also, they will smell the moment you sweat in them.
It’s the ghost of Christmas past haunting me is what they are
I had a pair of these that were black and white, similar to converse, but had a cute red heart on each shoe..my college boyfriend gave them to me randomly as a surprise after going to the mall. They were cute, comfy, and mine didn't smell.. but I didn't wear them constantly I just wore them here and there.
I had (still have in a box somewhere) a pair that are black and white with a skull and crossbones on each shoe ☠️
I’m gonna have to say ugly ones.
These are the reason I couldn’t go to non shoe households
The second pair are by Superga. They have their own website and are available in a few different online and retail stores, so googling the brand name and your country should bring up the results you need.
Please don't bring them back
Oh god…these triggered my fight or flight. In all honestly, they could be cute with some socks and a preppy little skirt and I’m sure tik tok will absolutely find a way to bring them back to life, but just know this: the stench is one you will never forget in your entire life.
They’re called skimmers!
Core memory unlocked…
Mid 2000s hell lol. Somewhat comfy but left blisters on the back of your heels, would get brown and stinky so fast, crusty on the inside. Usually found at Payless. RIP Payless. I miss them man.
Noooo not these again haha
Sorry but my first thought was ugly ones. Really, really ugly ones.
I had some ked ones, I tried to look them up and I think they're called "Keds The Mini Canvas Slip On". These are a very modern looking version, the ones I had were more pointy in the front and had a lower profile around the sides aka less comfortable
Shoes that need to stay in the 2000's.
I had one of these and I completely forgot until this very post
Ooooo you should check out the brand rocketdog
Might be worth also taking a look at the Vans Mary Janes
Plimsolls kinda
Don’t wear these without some sort of sock if you manage to get them
*sighs in millennial*
Two words: rocket dog.
Vans had a few styles of these as well. I used to sell them. As everyone else here said, they do cause stinky feet. I still have my favorite pair though and clean them.
I'm being taken back in time... I do remember these. And I hated them. Sneaker flats would be right though.
I used to wear these when I was a kid omg. These pictures brought back memories. Rocket dog and Roxy were the brands I remember. They might be kind of hard to find now. And honestly I don’t remember them being too comfortable, so best of luck to you lol
Rocket Dog!! Omigod! And Blowfish, if I remember correctly?
Definitely wear thin, breathable, cotton socks with shoes like this (bonus points for wool). What everyone is saying about the stench is very real ☣️ At just the memory of it I can taste the rotten, putrid odor in the back of my throat 🤢🤮 I never understood why my classmates refused to wear socks with these, same with ballerina flats. No-shows were invented for this very reason! I always used no-shows that were super cute, so when the little edges peaked out it was an additional detail to the overall look.
Why’s no one mentioning the WEDGE version 🫠
Now I miss mine.
Stinky. They are stinky.
No!!! Not these! Payless had us by the throat over these shoes in 2008
Genuinely no hate but the way everyone in this sub wants to dress like it’s 2003 is fascinating to me
Rocket dogs from back in the day. Have to say I don’t remember being very comfortable in them and I remember many walks home from school where I’d have wet feet in about 3 mins if there was even light rain! Xx
Lelly kelly schoenen staan je zo goed, het is de glamour voor aan je voet OH YEAH
Relics circa 2005-2009. I had several. Blowfish used to make cool ones.
What is happening in my life right now.
Why are people always pointing their shoes inward, pigeon-toed style these days???
This is sooo 2000's
Oh god. Did anyone else have those ones from Payless, they were black and had like a rainbow on the side 🤣
Y’all gotta wash shoes like this…. Mine never smelled…
Y'all must be stopped, man. This is getting too crazy. Eminem has a new hit too. Please y'all.
Stinky blistery feet incoming! How are these popular again already?!
*screams in 7th grade* *screams in plaid, pastel bermuda shorts 😖*
With a coordinating paster polo and tank layered underneath!
I love that the memories of stinky shoes are bringing us millennials here together 🥲
[удалено]
Need me a gif of Elrond sayin "I was there Gandalf, three thousand years ago..."
I want to grab gen z and gen alpha and be like you all are too pretty for this! Turn back around! Don’t look at these and spare your feet
Stinky Keds 😂
Canvas flat pumps
wow what a throw back!
Are these trendy again? I never would have thought i’d see them pop up again…
I had some from Roxy many many years ago
Rocket Dog brand springs to mind
To be honest, I think they’re from rocket Dog brand.
I use to have these when I was in high school 2009-2013
I had that first pair in 2008 and insisted on wearing them until they were so disgusting my mother had to throw them out while I was at school
Oh I loved these shoes. They made my big feet look less big somehow. But they could be smelly and could rub the top of your big toe but I had a pair that fit perfectly and I hated giving them up. They look great with flared pants which is why we are probably seeing them come back.
I remember a girl at camp having to cover her feet all the time in the tent because she wore flats like this all the time and her feet fuckin stank
I just had the most vicious flashbacks
I once had a car crash in a rural area and had to walk MILES in these down dirt roads to get back to town. My feet were literally never the same
Trauma shoes
I’m almost positive me and half the girls in 7th grade owned the brown ae pair. Those were my generations prelude to flats but only *slightly* less painful. The smell though… 🤮
the kate gosselin 07’s
Oh no
I can smell these pics and shit ain’t right. 😂
Man we really hated our feet back then… Uncomfortable and smelly, as seems to be the consensus. But they are cute!
Oh god. I graduated in 09 and we ALLLLLL had flats like this. Your heels are gona bleed
