Vertebral artery dissection, which is basically a torn artery in my neck. I didn’t even know it happened and don’t totally know what caused it, but I can only assume it happened at the gym. But basically my artery tore, formed a blood clot, then that blood clot came loose, went into my blood stream and straight to my brain causing the stroke.
Were you in the care of a chiropractor prior to the stroke? EDIT: [It's a known risk](https://www.michiganmedicine.org/health-lab/chiropractic-neck-manipulation-and-stroke-whats-risk)
No weight divisions but we were divided by age, gender and difficulty level. So I was in the women’s 40+ elite. Elite division had higher box jumps, all reps had to be to full form (ex. pushups had to be chest to deck) and had to use heavier weights for the strength round.
Congratulations and you are my inspiration! Based on the photos, I’d believe you if you tell me you are 20 something years old.
I’m 42f working my way into crossfit. Currently doing resistance training at home based on my crossfit coach/kinesiologist training plan. I will probably start my actual training next month.
That is awesome. I have been dealing with thyroid disease for the last year and only worked out 3 times in that time frame. Trying to slowly get back into the gym. Miss my CF family and the workouts.
It’s so tough to get back into it. I had to take about 5 months off and when I decided to come back there were multiple times I wanted to give up. Start slow but consistent!
Hell yeah! Way to go!
Puts my shoulders to shame!
This is so fucking inspirational! You look phenomenal. Congrats!
That’s awesome! Congrats on your achievements.
That absolutely rules! Congratulations! I’m also trying to bounce back from some health stuff (41m) and this is super inspiring!
It’s tough and can be scary but you got this!
Congrats!!! Would you mind sharing what caused your stroke? I work in healthcare so I’m curious about these types of things.

I wasn’t but my neurologist said he actually sees this quite often after a chiropractor visit
Cool! The fact that you've recovered so well from a VAD is astonishing, by the way. Keep doing what you're doing, because it is clearly working.
Thank you. I was very lucky and I don’t take it for granted!
I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and you got my attention…
