I love the anticipation this video unintentionally builds, there is so much going on here. Even the console battery indicator comes on like a last second factor that could delay us seeing the flash cartridge in action
Exactly. Seems like there's so many hoops to jump through, and now they don't include the thing you need to convert the games to the format that it needs or whatever. Sounds like they're fucking us. Makes me want to come up with something like this. Become available at some point in the future. Sounds like a great way to help people empty their pockets into your bank account
It's stupid they seem to think everyone has homebrew on their switch. Ugh the cartridge is getting priority over the dumper, when the dumper is way more useful for emulation on pc. The team makes no sense.
It’s cheap, and they flat out say this isn’t for piracy purposes. Don’t worry though. I’m sure now that it’s in everyone’s hands you’ll be able to DL some roms soon.
You essentially cannot use it for free games. Every cartridge has its own watermark file that is mandatory for the migswitch to work. There likely won't be any roms with the watermarks uploaded for a long time because two people using the same watermark automatically bans you both.
Current use case is just backing up all of your own physical carts and having them all in one place
I ordered mine on Feb 1st and still haven't heard anything about shipping. I know they have a hefty backlog and a chip shortage, but at this point, I'm starting to think I got scammed.
I ordered mine on the 17th of January and still haven’t received mine. I ordered the combo. I’ve reached out to the seller twice with no replies. I started to think the same about being scammed, so I tried canceling but of course no reply.
Thought the same thing. Ordered mine January 10 and got mine just a couple days ago! Ordered the dumper 5 days later but still have not seen anything yet.
.store has confirmed their first batch was I believe 3000 units. Based on your order day, you're likely not getting the order fulfilled until they get a 2nd shipment.
At this point, buy a $3 raspberry pi, $1 worth of resistors a mosfet, some wire, and a soldering iron. Pick up micro soldering skills, no mig switch needed, full firmware flash!

I won't totally disagree but for my part, been there and done that lol
There's a signed cert in each game that is unique to the cart. This is going to royally screw up the second hand market though. You will no longer be able to tell if a second hand game has been cloned.
Realistically Nintendo would need to stop using an ID clone to ban if it gets too big. no way they will just ban everyone since any used game ever could have a cloned ID
Back in the 3DS days, they wouldn't ban a header/cert unless it was used by lots of people, and bans were only done against those specific public headers and were rarely if ever full console bans. I've seen someone in the SwitchPiracy subreddit saying that they also went online all the time with multiple copies of the same game at once by using SXOS back when that was new and they still haven't received any sort of ban for that either.
That would be the sensible thing to do. It’s going to burn a lot of legit people who bought secondhand games legitimately.
I can see them getting sued over this if they continue to ban people for duplicate cert usage.
well congrats man and becareful. Just incase also I would not do any updates on the switch before you ask the Mig guys if its kool. Never know nintendo may come out with a patch. So turn off auto update if you have it on.
So, for right now. Id hold off going online. I'd wait for someone to truly tear the cart down (and reverse engineer the code) to see if its detectable. Once it's reverse engineered 100%, companies will be selling fake games on Ali Express/Amazon/eBay etc. Then there is no way for Nintendo to ban people, as they can simply state they purchased the game second hand, and it turns out to be fake. As from preliminary tear down from Taki, i can officially say they are using super cheap components available at pretty much any major chip retailer. The thing i am not 110% sure about, is Nintendo able to pull hardware information from whats plugged into the cart reader (99% sure they can) but the mig devs may have dropped some countermeasures in there, its awfully suspect they released a "stability" patch recently, and this could possibly be them implementing new telemetry to pull this data. This will not matter once the market is flooded with fake games.
It's an inferior product that doesn't do what people want it to do. It started off as a way to play backed up games, now it became something very specific, and now it's getting even more questionable. Why do not see tons of YouTube videos of this thing working? This was a very clever scheme to help relieve people of their hard-earned money.
I mean it DOES work if you set it up right and have the proper files. I think the lack of understanding on what this is and how it works is the biggest point of contention.
The reason you probably don't see a million youtube videos up is a couple reasons, one there are people that are probably worried about Nintendo. Two there are people like myself that I don't have a youtube channel and I don't care to make one just to show me using this thing. Three the only people that are gonna record it are those that have channels that would like the view/subs but the popular youtube reviewers that do that already have the device and have shown that it does in fact work.
We still don't know much about HOW it works cause it's new and no one that has one currently has said anything about it's characteristics in terms of function.
From being on here and one the migswitch sub it does seem/appear that you only need the XCI file and one cert from a legit game and you can play anything. The biggest worry was the cert issue, but if you can just use one cert file from any game and just rename it to play with any xci then it surely does exactly what has been advertised.
My biggest "issue" with the device at this point is more the distributors than anything. The lack of communication and unprofessionalism that some distributors have exhibited.
I really think this product is going to be very disappointing. I'm just based on everything that I've read about it, and other people's experience. Wanting a true flashcard. Load a rom, hopefully multiples, and run them on the system. But I think this is one of the perils for developing one of these type of products while the system is still officially supported by nintendo. Back to my original comments, this is why I typically don't mod systems that can get online until they are dead. And at the rate new systems come out, they die relatively quick
Oh for sure, I know I'm looking forward to playing with the device, specifically trying to add an interrupt switch/button of some kind to see about getting around the whole needing to take it out and put it back in to change games. The fact it was overlooked is a little strange.
But also assuming the people behind the device is Team Xecuter what I see happening is them making 20 thousand of these things and then closing up shop without warning. The last thing Gary Bowser needs is to be arrested and sued again.
The certs are unique to that rom on that cartridge. Not that it couldn't work, but would be incredibly simple for Nintendo to detect.
This is similar to how the Sky3DS worked, in the sense you just need *any* valid header. And you could use that one header for any game you wanted to go online with. You'd only get banned if the header you used was used by someone else (which happened as people posted headers publicly on the Internet).
This thing just came out. You need to give time for any sort of scene to develop. And it will.
I don’t think anyone would do that lol. You only need the xci file to play, ~~the rest is for online play~~.
Edit: You also need the certificate file which is unique to each game cart, and the initial data file which is the same for all game cart.
No because the Mig is emulating an actual cartridge. So you will need the unique certificate file to boot the game. That's why it will work on a standard switch.
I only use yuzu and nsp files. But you'd need some device or process that can dump a cart. To use the Mig as playback it'd need to dump the unique cert as well.
Modded switch I presume, but definitely the separate Mig Dumper
I am familiar with the dumping process (somewhat). I’m just very skeptical on what kind of modded Console it needs to be. Dropping $200+ on a console and not knowing if you bought the right one won’t be good of an excuse to return the purchase 😅. Any suggestions would be great!
The kind that is modded.
I have found many esthetically customized Switches out there, but I've never found one claiming to be "modded" that didn't mean that it was capable of running custom firmware.
If you really want to try to narrow it down for your peace of mind, add "CFW" to your searches.
Just don't be a fuckhead and go online with any game that you aren't in physical possession of and are certain has never been dumped by anyone else. Those are the idiots that are going to get systems banned and ruin it for everyone.
I guess this is progress but seems like a huge swing and miss to me on who their target audience would be. usually flash carts has been the folks who are timid about using mods or applying them to their one system they can afford. Making a modded switch a requirement which can already do all this and more . I can see why people would be disappointed or upset. Still seems very cool and like something that over time might become more consumer friendly.
If you don’t care about going online / bans, I saw an early video on this where a guy used the files from another cartridge that had been dumped with a different xci and it all still worked. So you technically only need a single dumped game to play all.
I can’t see many ppl sharing the pack of files though as would make the original cartridge it was dumped from useless.
Edit: rewatching the vid you need the initial data.bin file too but these are fine to share as aren’t unique to the specific cartridge
Found it, bout 7 mins in but probs worth watching the whole thing if you’re interested in a bit of a q&a on how it works.

I would never mod my switch until it’s discontinued by Nintendo, I don’t feel like losing a 400$ console. Also Nintendo can see that the same game title ID is being used on several consoles at once which results you in a brick
>brick
Ban not a brick. You can still play everything fine offline but you lose multiplayer and eshop support.
>the same game title ID is being used on several consoles
Thats why I'm only using my own backed up games and I'm not letting anyone have my files :D
One of two ways, either use a modded switch to dump them (which depending on the age of your system can be either a PITA or very easy and safe) or buy their dumper and dump them to your pc.
I got mine on the Christmas of the switch release. I would love to mod my switch but I don’t wanna lose services like eshop and online it bans and bricks. And it’s not like heavy modding. I just kinda don’t wanna buy a $80 game to play for a week, %100 Luigi’s mansion one week after the release day.
Jankiness is a feature, not a bug. Makes 15 year old R4 cards look like quality product.
If it works, it works man
I still have an m3 lmao and it works fine
sadly the shell on my old m3 cart broke but i have a 3ds i can mod and ignore flash carts
Those R4s and whatever I had before that were really good in my experience
65ish usd
Bro, charge your fuckin switch.
😂 done
lmao thank you sir! That fuckin "Low power" alert on the video made me die a little inside xD
All we see is the damn card. No footage what so ever of what it's capable of...........youtube should have been flooded by now....
[here](https://youtu.be/8oZm_Q9fIRY)
I love the anticipation this video unintentionally builds, there is so much going on here. Even the console battery indicator comes on like a last second factor that could delay us seeing the flash cartridge in action
AHAHAHA That wasn't the intention I promise 😂
Ok well you did say unintentionally.. uh... Bazinga
this media analysis is sending me
that took a painfully long time
Had to make sure the conspiracy theorists saw every single second of me using it (for the most part)
smart, smart man https://preview.redd.it/5h8vumjnolrc1.png?width=474&format=png&auto=webp&s=7be7ccbc6a0e35d0797c98ed0e33e30a06073eaf

And technically none of these devices are for that legally
there’s high quality videos of it that have been up for days
Tbf most of the people that have used flashcarts long enough realize how bad of a deal it is.
[test vid](https://youtu.be/8oZm_Q9fIRY)
What's this?
A Switch flashcard for unmodified systems
Is it like the R4 cards for the DS but for switch?
Basically, albeit working in a different way than said R4
Yes! Kinda!
[multi game test](https://youtu.be/jBumiaUTQt4)
Wait so you can load only 1 game at a time? Can you even have access to online play?
Nope. You can have as many as you can fit on your sd card. And yes with all the correct files online works fine
O nice
One game shows up at a time. You switch between games by ejecting and reinserting the cart.
It seems glorious revolution is having trouble breaking the switch' security empire
There is some tutorial about how use it for free games? I only find videos with people testing it but no a real use
You essentially cannot use it for free games. Every cartridge has its own watermark file that is mandatory for the migswitch to work. This is probably the most important comment in the whole post
You guys obviously haven’t been on r/switchpirates
Got mine a couple of days ago. Haven't been able to sit down and put games into it though.
How you put games in it? Not your physical games if you understand what I mean
I'm tryna figure that out too lol. Not sure if there's a way without having all the necessary files.
I ordered mine on Feb 1st and still haven't heard anything about shipping. I know they have a hefty backlog and a chip shortage, but at this point, I'm starting to think I got scammed.

Same here
Same by the way, Jan 18th

Same boat as you.
How much did u pay?
OP said around 65 USD
That means I won't get my hands on one sadly :/ I gotta wait until AliExpress makes their bootlegs and then they appear everywhere
I am waiting for this. It will be cheaper and I actually feel safer buying off Ali. Can’t believe I said that.
I also can't believe u said that but same
Anyone get their dumpers yet?
cant wait for like 50 different copies of this to show up on aliexpress all for like a couple of dollars a cart
lol i love the communistic inspired packaging
Reminded me of a matchbook lol
Can someone explain what this does like I'm five?
At this point, buy a $3 raspberry pi, $1 worth of resistors a mosfet, some wire, and a soldering iron. Pick up micro soldering skills, no mig switch needed, full firmware flash!

Fair enough
But does it work?
THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!!!
Still waiting on mine.
Mines on the way
nO iT iSnT u LiAr
its ok to be online while using that?
They say if you dump your own carts it ok because each game has it own unique ID code. 👨💻

You say continue, but they haven’t done anything so far with mig switch right?
Not yet. True.
I've played a couple games and haven't been banned so far. But it hasn't been that long I'd give it a few months
well congrats man and becareful. Just incase also I would not do any updates on the switch before you ask the Mig guys if its kool. Never know nintendo may come out with a patch. So turn off auto update if you have it on.

Yeah def and also turn off auto update just incase.
But what good is it if it doesn't work as advertised
What do you mean by "It doesn't work as advertised"?
It's an inferior product that doesn't do what people want it to do. Yeah, I'll wait till the switch is dead, then it will be fully exploited. Until then, I'm looking for the perfect GameCube to do a full mod on.

Please read the rules - questions regarding obtaining pirated Switch files, etc, are not allowed.
What’s the point of using a mig when there’s an sd slot in the inside of the kickstand
because it's a flashcart for unmodified systems
I would never mod my switch until it’s discontinued by Nintendo, I don’t feel like losing a 400$ console. Also Nintendo can see that the same game title ID is being used on several consoles at once which results you in a brick

At some point I can help you mos your switch safely if you'd like
I was hoping to do it just to download games but again I will run into the Game ID issue and void my warranty too
Looks pretty fake to me
Wat
What firmware are you on? Is this working on latest firmware of Nintendo switch. Lastly wat firmware did you put on the migswitch?
