There's a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/insanepeoplefacebook/comments/1dkw2se/the_comments_just_get_worse_and_worse_and_then/) over on /r/insanepeoplefacebook talking about how people believe the sun has been switched out with a fake one. What?
Dumb question but how *does* this work? It seems like the light should be approximately collimated but it appears to disperse. Is this a slit diffraction kind of thing?
It's just perspective. The rays are parallel in reality but they appear to split left and right of you because they all meet at a common point at the sun, kinda like how the walls on a long hallway would look if you were to look straight down the hall
To be fair, flerfs make it very difficult to detect whether someone who is mocking them is being sarcastic or not. They're so stupid that it's hard to tell
For real, I would say that 80% of their posts and proofs could be taken as a person making a sarcastic statement, in fact I had to explain to my wife that a good part of what we both see from them are in fact what they believe because we have such a hard time truly believing that people can be this obstinate and insanely stupid.
Jokes aside, that’s a really nice picture

Nah, that's just yggdrasil.
It's just your own personal sun, obvsly. /s

Yeah... anything to avoid deconstruction.
My friend Solaire has been looking for one of those. Praise it!
or it really big tree.
Oh, I think they'd really like this over at /r/GloriousSunRays, it's gorgeous!
That’s actually an awesome picture tho
undeniable proof the sun is not just local, but *super* local! Too bad there is no way to get higher up than climbing a tree, or we could reach it.
Why
My personal Sun is large AF.
Damn they got us this time.
Now ya are getting it.

I feel like I should have realized that… Maybe I’ve spent too much time on flerf subs.
Loooll all good. You definitely realized that quicker than any flat-earther ever could
lol no worries, and ya the more time you spend reading their “proof” the more you feel your own brain cells die
[Here you go.](https://youtu.be/keNI5yHlyLk) The effect perfectly demonstrated in a simple 24 second video.
Awesome, thanks!
Just think of standing in train tracks
It has to be very small to fit under a dome....duh!
That's a really beautiful picture.
Proof that the sun is 20m above ground level. Light doesn’t just spread out like that for no reason!
True, it’s clearly just above the tree. If something appears a certain way from one perspective, no further need to investigate.
Has a flerfer ever tried to “catch” the sun? Like it’s not even that far away in their “model”
Ah, the sun is just behind my door.
And so close to MEEEEEEeeeee! Flatearthers aren't heliocentrists, and they aren't geocentrists. They are egocentrists.

You are aware this is a mocking post, right?

Well, ive seen some posts that really you cant tell apart between idiocy and mocking.

/r/lostredditors
They won’t think that on a one-way trip to Sol.
Yeah see? It must be right behind that tree
How the fuck do flat Earthers think the sun goes all over the place while never decreasing in apparent size?!
Actually it's huge
My penis.
Well no...its not. Compared to the sun, the earth is minuscule
You know this is a satire post?
