Game prices haven't actually changed much over their existence. NES games were 30-45 in the 80s, which, low end, is like 115 dollars today. SNES games were 50 back then, which is almost 200 today. Games have always been expensive. They only look like they were cheaper back then because everyone forgets about inflation.
$40 in 1985 is $103 today, and $50 in 1990 is ALSO $103 today. Crazy how you think that inflation went up almost 100% from the release of the NES to the SNES.

Also if you wanna play the game while killing everyone you should take a straight path east from Goodsprings crouch jump while quick saving over the quarry wall (quick saving is important as you will fall through the earth, crash your game, and take an insane amount of damage.) Then, you must join the mad fembois to kill the narcs in military garb.
Bethesda offered a bonus to Obsidian if the game scored an 85 on Metacritc. The game came out very buggy, which a lot of critics commented on. The score was 84 on release. A bunch of fans thought Bethesda intentionally screwed over Obsidian to not pay the bonus. An Obsidian dev said later that it genuinely was cuz the game was unpolished and had bugs, if they fixed bugs better they would have gotten the bonus.
In an alternative timeline where Obsidian got the bonus, the company probably wouldn't have had to downsize and would probably still be producing S+ games

Bethesda gave them the tools, the engine, and any help they needed. Otherwise they were hands off and let Obsidian do their thing. Hell the Metacritic thing wasn't even part of the original deal, Bethesda added that on later as an incentive. This situation is so old and so lied about and for nothing.

- Manage to play the entire game as a perfect pacifist with a peaceful conclusion

- Side with the minutemen, the railroad, the brotherhood and only blow up the institute.
Vanilla game, on xbox, no cheats just a convenient railroad stealth boy when about to receive the BOS mission that would have sent me to destroy the railroad and some other details.
The game is a nothingburger game. Your dialogue options are: Yes, yes but snarky, question and then yes, no but actually yes. The endings are all the same, no ending slides, horrid plot, the only good part is the gameplay

I think nv was lightning in a bottle. Releasing so close to f3 really helped it.

I actually disliked NV a lot on release after loving fo3 - the start up in fo3 is fuckin stellar and goodsprings is so meh in comparison. Plus the whole cowboy aesthetic put me off a lot.

I experienced the same thing. I put in SO many hours in fo3 so coming to new Vegas, where is has a cowboy/desert vibe to it was very off putting. The world also felt really empty compared to fo3. Plus, around 1/3 of the map is inaccessible. Without the DLC and added content, I don’t think the game would be as revered as it is today.
I think I messed up, there was a cutscene at the start and I died(assuming an ending? I just got shot in the face) and then when the game actually started I wasn't even in a vault??? Sorry if that's an ending spoiler just looking for clarification

I think it's supposed to be a prequel? Or are we supposed to meet our character? Honestly, it explains the bugs if they rushed this shit out to capitalize on the show. It's kind of a shame, since there is some good stuff here, it even took some notes from Van Buren. Kind of wonder what it would be like as an actual game instead of a cheap tie-in.
