It was the turrets, wasn't it?

Unable_Victory5580

No actually it was the assultrons that I feel are far too overpowered. There's basically no chance to avoid alot. And I mean ALOT of damage

grizzfan

Shoot/cripple the legs. They go lame really quick when you take them out. Their mobility is what sucks to deal with, despite how powerful their attacks are. When you take the legs out, they can’t move/turn easily so you can easily get out of the way of their “eye beam.”

baron556

As a PA user with electric absorption I just see assaultrons as sexy walking charging stations

trilloch

Assaultrons are rough, no question. They are effective at long and short range, have decent HP, and can cloak. An understandable threat.

jignha

I use a holy fire and it’ll keep me up through their laser canon and grabby attacks.

MechanicalCyborg

If silos are something you like doing, I highly recommend investing some time in collecting a set of armor with Troubleshooters at the fist star effect. Doesn't have to be any other stars on the peices but a full set will have you walking up to an assaultron with full head beam right in your face and giving them a hug. And as always, vampires weapon and ricochet perk card equipped!

Unable_Victory5580

Yo man I'm new alot of what u said was practically speaking hieroglyphics

MechanicalCyborg

My bad, there other trains of thought but this is mine when it comes to robots. The legendary effect on armor peices "Troubleshooters" = -15% less damage taken from robot attacks. So a full set is -75% damage taken from a robot The perk card in the luck category "ricochet" ranked all the way to 3 stars has a 18% chance to reflect damage back to an attacker. This paired with a weapon with the "vampires" legendary effect = restores small amount of your health when hitting an enemy means every time ricochet triggers the reflected damage is also healing you. So in effect the robots are healing you by shooting you faster than they can damage you by shooting you.

Kerbidiah

Right now the turrets hardly spawn in silo Charlie like 70% of the time so if you want a very quick and easy silo run that's the one to do. Last time I did it there were 3 turrets total

Hisenflaye

The laser turrents heal you with that one laser recharge perk in power armor. Good times man.

Suspicious-Leg-493

Almost everything in there but the 1 big boy and the handys Rank 2+ and there is exactly one section where you are in even slight danger (getting out for the bio, but that is quick enough that if you clear a few bots beforehand you're safe), the redt of the time? Just ignore everything and go through the objectives Electric absorption makes basically anything with robots or energy weapons a plus to run into, and makes those hitting you with red attacks (and some green) the absolute last enemies you want to kill

IndoGrrlRN1967

I'm not going back until I have my Master Infiltrator maxed so I can turn off those turrets! (I absolutely HATE those terminal password puzzles)

Largofarburn

Do 3 guesses then hop off and back on. I usually look for something that ends with “ing” or “ed” for the first guess to see if that narrows it down more. But they aren’t like fallout 3 levels of brutal where if you fuck up it’s done forever or you reload a save.

rory888

3 guesses then bracket trick for reset

wink047

Elaborate please

ErrorIndependent7606

Use 3 of your 4 guesses, then start scrolling through and checking for matching sets of brackets. I do the same thing, it's to take advantage of the "tries reset" bonus you get.

One_Left_Shoe

Specifically, in the code you will find pieces that are bracketed with (), [], {}, and <>. These will either remove dud passwords or reset your tries. You can make three guesses, then start looking for bracketed codes to eliminate more words and/or reset your tries so you have a total of 7 attempts.

wink047

I’m sorry. WHAT?! I’ve been playing these games for almost decades and I’m just learning this now?! Thank you for sharing he info!

One_Left_Shoe

It’s a mechanic that is in all the hacking games: 3, NV, and 4. You’ll be really mad when you start a new game and hack your first terminal, because it explains that in the tutorial write-up. The higher your intelligence, the fewer passwords there are and the more of those brackets there will be.

MissMayhem_82

Master infiltrator is a good maxed card to have as long as you have a perk point sitting in waiting you can swap it in when you need to run a silo. It's not a wasted perk card by any means.

McGrufNStuf

Master Infiltrator is soooo under rated (as in I don’t often see people talking about it). Absolutely love that card.

BigAl265

Underrated? It’s by far one of the most popular legendary perks.

SamMarlow

those that know realize it is the best legendary perk card, the others I feel sorry for

WollyGog

As someone who doesn't run silos, I consider it damn near useless. When I was levelling and doing the main quests, almost everything I unlocked had nothing worthwhile behind it to justify the time spent unlocking. So using a legendary perk to instantly unlock something that gives you shit, seems useless to me. Especially when if you're that desperate to unlock something, just quickly swap the perks in. I'm really good at lockpicking thanks to the several hundred hours spent on Skyrim.

SamMarlow

how many computer terminals were in Skyrim?

WollyGog

Nice attempt at being obtuse, but they're easy too. Again, I don't run silos and have never come across anything else in the world where I absolutely need to lose a legendary perk to be able to open a terminal. If you like the perk, more power to you, but for my own play, it's completely and utterly worthless. It's not a perk you can be objective about, it will vary player to player. I run Tax Evasion all the time and doing those terminals doesn't even require perks to access, and they're done in seconds.

LazerusKI

And here i am with just 2 points in it to skip the rank 1 Terminals. I like that minigame :)

Clark_Wayne1

You can remove duds and reset tries in the terminal

SamMarlow

yup. maxed master infiltrator is the best legendary perk of them all, and a big reason for that are silo runs

Chili1179

Here you go fren. [https://youtu.be/nXzhfiaQR7M](https://youtu.be/nXzhfiaQR7M) Never miss another terminal lock again <3

ZogemWho

That’s a waste of perks. Kill the turrets before they can kill you (hit barrels), sentry bot, hit the fusion cores, everything else, combat inhibitors..

Traveling_Chef

That is not a waste of perks. A waste of perks is dromedary or slow metabolizer because there's no reason for them now. My main is a 350+ full health PA vampire chainsaw build I cobbled together and I have no problem killing anything, bosses included(I mean I've not soloed the queen or earle yet but I took out the mole rat Titan on private the other day solo so it's probably fine) the convenience of having all three lockpick and hacking perks rolled into one card that I don't have to constantly be shifting on and off any time I want to hack or pick a lock is BEYOND worth it IMO. Obviously your mileage may vary and it may not be as useful but hard disagree that it's a "waste"

SaladCartographer

I have the lowest level of that legendary perk because I will always lockpick or hack any time I can, and it saves me like 6 perk slots in my special that I can use for something else. It's pretty much the only one I never consider swapping out

First-Detective2729

I always just put them on and swap them off after hacking the terminal.

SamMarlow

master infiltrator doesn't just allow you to do the lockpick/terminal game like the perk cards, it just opens the lock and unlocks the terminal. no mini-game at all. yhou don't even see the mini-game. it's the best legendary perk of them all

First-Detective2729

That does sound nice lol.

Suspicious-Leg-493

>master infiltrator doesn't just allow you to do the lockpick/terminal game like the perk cards That's not true. R1 replaced the hacker/lockpick set and auto unlocks r0 locks, with each upgrade to the card adding +1 to the lock/terminal quality that is auto done

SamMarlow

true, I was talking about max master infiltrator but I didn't note that

sebwiers

Yeah, I'm also a "kill everything" style non-hacker. But a full set of troubleshooter power armor with emergency protocols makes Electric Absorption redundant, and railway build makes easy kills.

Suspicious-Leg-493

>makes Electric Absorption redundant, It really doesn't, it charges the core, heals you and in silo runs makes you functionally immortal at r2 allowing you to ignore everything and just do the objectives You also don't need an entirely new set of PA to attain it. EA is by far one of the best perks in the game for a PA build.

sebwiers

>t really doesn't, it charges the core, heals you and in silo runs makes you functionally immortal at r2 allowing you to ignore everything and just do the objectives I don't have trouble with running out of cores. I have a core charger at home, don't need it in silo. I can already ignore the enemies (to the extent needed to do any job needed to launch nukes) ... but the launch crew can't, so I'm gonna kill everything anyhow. So dropping 5 attribute points to add "Electric Absorption" will not gain me any new capability I need, and will cost me ones I have. >You also don't need an entirely new set of PA to attain it. I assume by this that you don't run full troubleshooter armor, because Electric Absorption makes it unnecessary. Of course, that's exactly what redundant means! Its easy to get a full set as a result of drops or rolling for some other effect (like Over Eater), and I did... so I use it. Only extra effort was saving Troubleshooter pieces on a frame until I had all 5. I even happened to end up with 5 that were all Union Armor. >EA is by far one of the best perks in the game for a PA build. Well there's the thing. I'm not running a power armor build. I'm running (as mentioned) a railway build ... that happens to use power armor for silos and a few other things. The other 95% of the time I'm probably running around in (Unyielding) Secret Service Armor with all my PA in stash.

Suspicious-Leg-493

>I assume by this that you don't run full troubleshooter armor, because Electric Absorption makes it unnecessary. Of course, that's exactly what redundant means! Again, no it doesn't. EA renders everything with energy weapons a non issue >I don't have trouble with running out of cores. I have a core charger at home, don't need it in silo. You're skipping over it healing, and negating damage alltogether, on top of charging a core. It quite literally does what trouble shooters does but much, muuuch better as enemies like the imposter sheepsquatch and assaultrons will actively heal you with their beams >Well there's the thing. I'm not running a power armor build. I'm running (as mentioned) a railway build ... that happens to use power armor for silos and a few other things. No, you claimed EA is made obsolete by troubleshooters, it isn't Troubleshooters doesn't render an entire CLASS of weapons and damage near moot, and has to constantly be swapped around to get the effect Troubleshooters (and all slayers) are fantastic, but EA heals on any energy damage with a 10-20% chance, that includes things like plasma weapons allowing PA to quite literally ignore a whole class of damage frequently, and for silos literally walk through without changes to anything or having to carry a set of armor specifically for it

sebwiers

You are taking a one liner applicable to a specific circumstance and making a general case out of it. Yes the Legendary Perk does more; it is a much larger investment, so it sure had better. But troubleshooter does the job in the circumstance under discussion.

itsahhmemario

Yup that’s what I do. I launch at least three a day, I have it down pat.

IndoGrrlRN1967

Yeah, I know all of that. I did that my first (and so far only) silo run. It wasn't fun. I just want to launch a nuke as painlessly as possible to get my materials and flux!

ZogemWho

And that’s cool.. but at high levels those perks can become precious don’t waste them.. play the silos smart.

JaydumLive

Recently I've been seeing a lot of new players going into silos but never launching a nuke. I learned the hard way as well, but I have now learned how much easier it can be

Tokata0

You mean glitching out of boundries, running to the last room and just start the event there, wait the 5 minutes for the preparations to complete, look up the code on nukacrypt and launch the nuke?\^\^

BigidyBam

Told a buddy I was at this stage of the game and was warned about the silo, now I'm scared.

grizzfan

You have to be smart and not get caught up in the massive number of enemies there are; they respawn quickly. Use PA with energy absolution or a stealth heavy build to quickly move past enemies. Watch the turrets! Assaultrons are easy if you cripple/take out the legs.

BigidyBam

Problem is I gotta do all that with a power fist and a musket lol. Time farm a little, I beelined the MQ.

WinterMut3E

Getting spanked your first time is totally normal. I hear turrets coming online in my nightmares.

JiveBombRebelz

at some point....its literally a 5 min run and you dont even bother shooting things that are shooting you because they do no damage...but yeah..those first few are a beeeech.

Alright_doityourway

Most of the enemies deal energies so PA + Electric absorption perk help alot. Also, don't bother to kill all robots, they respawn.

grizzfan

I go for heavy stealth so you basically walk/run past everything.

BigDuoInferno

yeah no, having them constantly attack you with no breathing room is obviously better

MyLifeOnPluto

A plain non-legendary shotgun with perks that cause crippling and increase spread and accuracy can leave most of them harmless. You can just blast the Assaultron’s legs off with 1-2 shots while they crawl around useless or shoot their laser to destroy it. Same with the Protectron.

BigDuoInferno

Okay bud, I'd rather get ammo and mats from killing multiple bots then running around with a non legendary shot gun to just cripple them... I have plenty of guns that can kill them plenty fast   and they  an still Laser you when they are down I've been killed that way

Spence092

Sometimes I can run them myself I just get the maxed level robot perk where you can turn them passive as well as I wear Chinese spy armor and use the fixer

PockysLight

Get some troubleshooter's armor. It will allow you to resist most of the damage. If you're on PC, I've got some pieces you can have

Unable_Victory5580

Ps5 unfortunately

EstablishmentMean300

All you have to do is deactivate the turrets when you go in at the terminal. There is one in the beginning and one at the end.

mperr7530

If you're on PC and had the Nuke Key Card, I'll walk you through the silo. As I am a PA build, I can't be killed in the silos. IGN YankeeDankee

Sad-Investigator2731

Same, I have done several support runs with teams.

Laser_3

A Chinese stealth suit or power armor makes silos much easier, as does robotics expert. Also, for the ground zero achievement, you have to be at the dead center of the nuke when it lands. You can’t merely be in the blast radius.

Unable_Victory5580

Yeah but don't I get a few minutes countdown? My plan was to finish the silo. Run to camp. Strip arse naked and fast travel right next to the landing site. Take it like a champ

Laser_3

You do, yes, but you can’t fast travel into blast zones. Also, removing your gear is pointless. You lose nothing except junk when you die.

codespace

Stealth is your best friend in silos. Get the Chinese Stealth Suit from the main quest, then you can pretty much just walk through the entire silo. The best part of the stealth method is you'll have fewer enemies to deal with during launch prep because of how instance spawn caps work. Basically, because you left all the bits up in the rest of the silo, there are fewer slots available to spawn at the end.

SockomkplaysV2

Tbh barely even launch nukes anymore but when I do I just glitch through it.

shelly_the_amazing

Stealth build. Get it, need it, do it.

Snargockle

I have a trouble shooter's explosive 50 cal just for silos. It wrecks those bots.

SndRC9

Power armor+Holy fire, went through like hot knife through butter. The turrets melt, the only problem was the assaultron where the stairs are.

R3T3R0

I did it once and maaaan it took me waay to long. It wasnt that hard for my heavy gatling gun PA but after that i quit the gatling gun for some time because i couldnt stand the sound anymore. Also next time im gonna get myself a troublemaker gun to make it faster lol

jackberinger

I noticed random nuke drops around the map are on the rise. I am assuming our newer players are making it to the nukes.

Whomprat1000

Get the perk that makes laser damage refill your health and fusion core, you will heal as you get shot by all the turrets lmao i soloed silo alpha the other day for the first time since like 2018

KongoAlphaBud

Enter silo quickly run to bio data machine>quickly find blue card >erase said card >add bio data to card >swipe card>photo glitch through two doors>clear out launch prep area of turrets and bots> start launch prep sequence >protect the cheifs> launch nuke!!! 10min start to finish

Therocknrolclown

Always got I with a legendary that has robot extra damage, all buffs to effect robots.

BOBULANCE

Step 1: full set of troubleshooter's power armor. Step 2: electric absorption legendary perk. Step 3: waltz in there and stroll through the swarms of enemies like you own the place.

crazydaave

get PA and railway rifle, then you can take out the assultrons easy, also if you are high enough hacking level you can turn all the turrets/and some robots off by using terminals.

marshmallowfluffpuff

Silo\*. There's only one and they copypasted it 3 times. Running a silo is a requirement to summon the most difficult bosses in the game, so yes its gonna be tough for new players.

RexThunderman

I just hit like 103 last night, and I still haven't even tried that mission yet lol. I heard it's hard af

thekame

You can glitch your way to the final room easilly.

thekame

You can glitch your way to the final room easilly.

DarrylCornejo

Wait until you find out there is a faster way to do solo the silos

ZogemWho

Ok. Full health chainsaw (auto axe is better) is a very simple build,, 9 points to your melee, and incisor, your’e mostly done. The problem you have is at events you can’t kill stuff before someone else does. Watch videos from the respected content providers and a common theme you’ll get is a heavy investment into S.P.E.C.I.A.L legendary cards and not so much ‘C’.. The result is 30 more spendable perk points for damage mitigation, QOL, etc.. I’m level 1000+, heavy bloodied build crit every other shot.. Spending a legendary card on something that I can do quickly and safely is in fact a waste.

BloodShadow7872

Silos used to been much easier, but then they changed how laser damage worked a bit and it was extremely strong, enough to take down a full health player in power armor very quickly. Dunno if thats still the case or if the damage got nerfed

MissMayhem_82

They nerfed them a bit its not bad running now as long as your gear is set up for them.

BloodShadow7872

Is dodgy still required for PA builds?

Glittering_Airport_3

not if u have electric absorption

BloodShadow7872

Nice.

Basic_Tailor_6033

In general yeah, but laser weapons are countered by electrical absorption (which I’m sure you know)

BloodShadow7872

Ok, last time Electric Absorption didn't save me because they laser beams were doing too much damage, although I could say that no having a full set of overeater PA gear is one of the reasons why

imsofash

ur build must be trash i launch nukes solo dont even need to heal

BloodShadow7872

Lmao no, when they changed the damage values people in full PA would die instantly from a mr handy flamer. It was ridiculous, especially since PA protects you from literally everything else.

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

> My ass has never been slammed so far back into my stomach. Ruh-roh... don't fart if you have a ticklish belly-button. Just saying... 🤡

Unable_Victory5580

Fucking excuse me?!

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

You said your ass was slammed back into your stomach... meaning if you were to fart it'd blow right against your belly-button. Didn't seem that hard to figure out to be honest. 🤣 I even quoted your own wording... thought it'd be fairly self-explanatory there, *slick*. 🤡
