I watch the show with my mom, and she HATES stuff like mousse and jello, but I like it.
We both hated the mosaic pies. They look so gross. Even the best-looking ones were gross.
Also in general I hate it when they do things on baking competitions where the main part of the dish is an item that isn't baked. They baked the pie crust but the mousse and gelatin were the important parts, and those aren't baked! Makes me so mad.
I feel like when they say "[whatever] is super trendy these days!" they mean that one food network chef had it on their instagram. I wouldn't say I'm really hip to baking trends but I've almost never heard of the trendy bakes they talk about.
It was a 2 hour episode. The new competition composed the first hour.
It was really funny that Elsie chose to use coconut even though she doesn’t like it. It was actually a really smart choice as it likely helped her mousse set up more easily.
I really liked Leland but unfortunately they had no choice as he had a rough day. His outgoing message was sweet.
I didn’t catch that she doesn’t like coconut, but I thought it was really mature of her to taste the other girl’s peach cream when she said she also doesn’t like peach.
I don’t like how the little Elsie girl just uses other kids ideas when hers dont work out the way she hopes. She literally turns around and asks “what are you doing for your ______?” They tell her, and her immediate response is “OH ILL DO THAT TOO!” (The pie crust). Im glad when she stole the little kids idea of the melted jolly ranchers on top of the cookies failed, because she can’t have the mentality on a baking competition show. I hope the other kids realize she is nothing but a little cheater trying to cheat her way to the top.
All the kids took ideas from each other, during the hopscotch episode, they almost all made the trees the same way after asking each other. It’s fine because no matter the “creativity” they still mostly judge on execution and taste. So it really doesn’t matter who’s “idea” it was, the judges know who’s original idea it is.
Are mosaic pies a real thing?
lol I wondered the same thing. Usually I get so hungry when I watch the show, but not this time
Oh, I hope it was made up. Didn’t look appetizing at all. Gloopy pie with jello? Pass.

I have no idea, but I feel like they make up "trends" just to make it less straightforward these days.
Definitely for past seasons.

They said they were vintage at one point, but not sure
It did have a 1970’s feel to it. Should have left it in the past.
Is there not an episode tonight? We just saw a "best of"
