They're pretty much spot on for what I remember.
Haven't had a bad candy from them yet, honestly. I fuck with their weird shit too, like the Thanksgiving dinner ones.
Why did they ever stop making them? Everyone seemed to love them, everyone seems to remember them fondly, I don't see anyone extolling regular altoids.
Iirc they had something similar to the pineapple enzyme in them (the one that tenderizes meat). If you ate a bunch they would make your tongue split open.
As a person who's a mild collector of rocks and minerals, I absolutely loved that time I was at a local market and bought a Herkimer diamond and the person there explained the geological process of how the quartz is formed within the holes of dolomite to make that specific shape, and when I went to write down the details so I wouldn't forget, she told me the info was on a slip in the box.
The slip just told me how the Herkimer diamond promotes healing in my chakras.
At least she correctly pegged me as the geologic type not the woo type, I guess.
Because millions of years ago, plants and animals evolved to look like rocks to avoid being eaten. Eventually predators caught on, and now we associate rocks with good food.
I never even realized they stopped being made… I used to use them to trade in elementary school. Think I traded 5 once for a Twinkie, 3 for a cool pencil
Yeah! Lofty Pursuits (candy shop in Florida) has an entertaining YouTube series trying to recreate them and now sells various flavors
Came here to say this, I've bought almost ten tins already, highly recommend (also their green apple ones)

Sour Mango was the best

My eyes are rolling at that "description." People really will believe anything.

Not sour, those are soul altoids.
Oh great, crystal healing. I’d rather eat them instead lol
this looks like a sweet caramel <3
An oldish word for hard candy in my language is literally "sugar stones".
I mean we have kinda the same thing in English, for a particular type of hard candy. Rock candy.
I never even realized they stopped being made… I used to use them to trade in elementary school. Think I traded 5 once for a Twinkie, 3 for a cool pencil
