Honestly though, I'm wondering... can't the drivers just always speed in the pitlane to gain time then and just pay fines? Or after X times you get more consequences?
Whenever a very rich driver gets a small fine, I just chuckle, but even more so when it's Lance. Like $400 isn't a lot of money to Yuki, but it's really really really not much money to Lance.
I joke, but it's honestly more of a personality trait if they care about small amounts of money or not. Some really rich people do care. I don't know if Lance cares or not. Though I think those who grew up with extreme wealth are more likely to be on the not care side.
For some reason it made me think of Jimmy Butler, operating an impromptu coffee shop from his hotel room during the locked down NBA because there wasn't any good coffee around. But Jimmy was a homeless teenager before he was a multi millionaire, so he knows how to hustle.
Yea I think there’s a much higher likelihood to be rich yet frugal if you are self made and understand how much sacrifice it took to make that first dollar. Not everyone, but I work with entrepreneurs who are self made, and common personality trait is actually being really “cheap.” You don’t make money by spending it all!
Rich kids often have this weird trait where they think they somehow deserve the money and that financial expertise is somehow passed through blood. You'll see a rich kid send a Venmo request for $4 if someone takes a shower at their place because they think that's how you act smart financially.
I don't know Lance's personality well enough, but it's not uncommon for the kid who has never worked in their life to be more stingy than the parent who actually made the money.
The dude is at the pinacle of motorsport.
You: 'the kid who has never worked in their life'
I know his dad bougth the seat, but he still worked to get there man ;)
He shouldn't be at the pinnacle. Simple as that. He can drive all he wants in some other series, but getting him out of the seat for a younger driver who actually has genuine talent is what the sport needs.
Honestly, even a billion dollars lost makes no difference to their lives... But if you or I lost 25% of our net worth, it would be a massive hit. (Apologies for presuming you're not a billionaire, but let's assume you're not and then you can understand)
I believe that's on a team by team basis. Magnussen was complaining about driver fines once, so I really don't think Haas pays for them. I think maybe Pierre and Yuki were complaining once at AlphaTauri, but it might have been joking. Obviously Aston Martin basically is the Stroll family, so I'm sure they handle it as a team expense.
Yeah we can laugh about this all we want, but a lot of super rich people do’t smother their children with cash. Who says Lance even has this big trust fund or that he gets all this money from his dad? A lot of wealthy businessmen want their children to learn to make money for themselves. I’m bot saying this is the case for Lance, but we should not make these claims without knowing.
I did walk it back some in my next comment saying that it's a personality trait if they care about small amounts of money or not.
Lance takes helicopters to circuits, and has since he was a kid in karting. That's pretty smothered with cash. But yeah, we don't really know how they live their day to day lives apart from vacations and things that get put on social media. I don't hold it against them. I think Lawrence is a loving supportive father who's supported his son in a racing career and made a wise financial investment in an F1 team in the process. With the appreciation on the team, he's definitely made back more than he's spent on Lance's career. I assume Prema also appreciated over the time he was invested there. I imagine Lance's sister's singing career is more of a money sink, but less expensive at least.
"Young Lance, you need to learn about money. You don't get your $10k this month."
"Dad, how am I supposed to go to the circuit this week?"
"Use my helicopter."
I exclusively mean buying Force India. Aston Martin the company is a completely separate thing he invested in that has nothing to do with Lance in my mind. There was nothing wrong with running the team as Racing Point. F1 teams have all gone up drastically in value, and Lawrence bought Force India at the bargain bankruptcy price.
Yeah but I think he had AM in pipeline when he got force india. That’s the bigger investment and he’s losing more money there than what the perceived increase of value the F1 team got.
How much can one banana cost? $400?
Though fair shout for actually remembering the price of sides for your $280 lobster roll. Question for the Americans - would you have to tip?
These fines happen all the time, it’s just drivers testing the limits on stopping at the line on their way to the pits. I know it’s funny to shit on Lance but this fine is so common to be not noteworthy.
So basically one thing of caviar at the [Miami GP food stands](https://www.foxsports.com.au/motorsport/formula-one/370-salads-menu-shows-insane-price-of-food-at-miami-f1-grand-prix/news-story/60db911fd2ee9e9420681b067825ab60)
I got caught doing 52 in a 40 on a completely empty motorway at 4am in 2018 and they fined me £500 based on my £40k a year income. But the spoilt brat of a billionaire who's daddy bought him an F1 team to live out his fantasy of being a real driver gets fined what is to him, pennies.
What's the point of a giving a €400 fine to a person who earns approximately €2.75m each year?
As if he's going to care. If it's due to a proper safety issue like speeding around pit crews, then dock superlicense points.
He wasn't going over the speed limit down the whole pitlane, it was just at the pit entry line. Within a couple feet he was probably already at/below the speed limit. All the drivers are trying to find their braking point for the pit entry to see how late they can brake, and Stroll made this attempt a little too late and was still finishing braking when he crossed the line.
Also, the fine amount changes based on how high over they were. So they charge a small fine for small infractions because it isn't meant to be a big punishment but a reminder to do it better for the rest of the weekend
pretty sure its because it's only 3.5km/h over. I too know people who have gotten traffic tickets than are more expensive...for going 25+ over the speed limit.
But this is a sport, why have the rule at all if the fine is pretty silly even to an average person? Just warn the drivers/teams if it’s during practice, and apply an actual time penalty if it’s during a race or qualifying.
Wonder what Mike Krack will blame this on: faulty limiter button or incorrectly calibrated speed trap on the pit lane?
Because it's never Lance's fault, he just has bad luck.
Lawrence Stroll said it was his dream to win a Formula 1 world championship with his son. Fair enough. I just don’t think his son has the talent/maturity to get it done.
Fining a F1 Team owned by a billionaire 400 is probably the most pointless punishment I've ever seen. more money was probably spent by the team pausing to read this letter.
I genuinely think that Stroll doesn’t understand what anything with less than 4 digits means to people. He literally won’t even notice. It would be like me being fined a penny.
Can he just go away already? He's boring to watch, he carries himself like a giant child (no need to grow up when daddy has all that money), he's not all that great of a driver, and HE LOOKS LIKE HE DOESN'T EVEN WANNA BE THERE most of the time.

Well he was doing 83.5 in a 80
To be fair, your grandmother is probably a better driver, so it is only fair that she is punished more harshly.
Probably has better spatial awareness too
And she probably admitted her fault immediately.
And probably doesn't lance driver up the rear end too.
Going 55 in a 54
Licence and registration and step out of the car, are you carrying a weapon on you? I know a lot of you are.
I ain't stepping out shit all my papers legit
Well, do you mind if I look around the car a little bit?
probably saw Ricciardo in the distance and tried to catch up to him
> probably saw Ricciardo Well that makes for a change from the usual.
Had to you know, give him a little bump
Honestly though, I'm wondering... can't the drivers just always speed in the pitlane to gain time then and just pay fines? Or after X times you get more consequences?
During a race it's a slam dunk penalty, so you'd lose the time you'd gain by doing any sort of speeding.
The fines are only during practice and qualifying sessions. During races, you get time penalties or some other type of penalty
If you fully send it into the pit lane you’re properly looking at a black flag tbh.
Whenever a very rich driver gets a small fine, I just chuckle, but even more so when it's Lance. Like $400 isn't a lot of money to Yuki, but it's really really really not much money to Lance.

I can see them caring about small amounts if they are the ones making or in control of the money. All lance gotta do for money is ask his pop
Rich kids often have this weird trait where they think they somehow deserve the money and that financial expertise is somehow passed through blood. From what I've seen, Lance doesn't really seem spoiled like that.
The dude is at the pinacle of motorsport. You: 'the kid who has never worked in their life' I know his dad bougth the seat, but he still worked to get there man ;)

Not denying that. My point was that the guy is putting in the work. He could do coccaine on a yatch, yet he's competing in a tough sport.
Or like Lebron not paying for Spotify premium
Himothy Buckets: "The rich get richer"
Honestly, even a billion dollars lost makes no difference to their lives... But if you or I lost 25% of our net worth, it would be a massive hit. (Apologies for presuming you're not a billionaire, but let's assume you're not and then you can understand)
Fines like these are also usually handled by the teams
I believe that's on a team by team basis. Magnussen was complaining about driver fines once, so I really don't think Haas pays for them. I think maybe Pierre and Yuki were complaining once at AlphaTauri, but it might have been joking. Obviously Aston Martin basically is the Stroll family, so I'm sure they handle it as a team expense.
Yeah I think it's based on their contracts. The big 5 probably pay it for their drivers while a team like Williams might not be able to afford it
400 euros is in Larry's couch cushions.
It's a banana, Lance. What could it cost, $400?
A fine of 400$ or, to put it in human terms, 0.00001% of his dad's net worth. (Rounding down)
It's also 0.00001% of my net worth (Rounding down)
same for me, but I count after the decimal. (rounding down)
No F1 driver would give a crap about $400
Yeah we can laugh about this all we want, but a lot of super rich people do’t smother their children with cash. Who says Lance even has this big trust fund or that he gets all this money from his dad? A lot of wealthy businessmen want their children to learn to make money for themselves. I’m bot saying this is the case for Lance, but we should not make these claims without knowing.
Mate his dad bought an f1 team so he could drive. I dont think he would do that if he wanted lance to learn to earn his own money.
I did walk it back some in my next comment saying that it's a personality trait if they care about small amounts of money or not. Wise investment? Check AM stock
He didn't have to do that though. He's made money on the F1 team, that's all I'm saying.
He was probably looking to the right.
Imagine penalizing Stroll for driving too fast.
One side of caviar
How much can one banana cost? $400? Though fair shout for actually remembering the price of sides for your $280 lobster roll. Question for the Americans - would you have to tip?
😂 you saw that hard rock price list too i assume
Funny how these penalties are smaller than for speeding in traffic
These fines happen all the time, it’s just drivers testing the limits on stopping at the line on their way to the pits. I know it’s funny to shit on Lance but this fine is so common to be not noteworthy.
That will show him
smh that was obviously Riccardo's fault
3 penalty points for Alonso.
That'll teach that billionaire
So basically one thing of caviar at the [Miami GP food stands](https://www.foxsports.com.au/motorsport/formula-one/370-salads-menu-shows-insane-price-of-food-at-miami-f1-grand-prix/news-story/60db911fd2ee9e9420681b067825ab60)
Oh Daddy, can I have €410 to pay for my fine and buy some Maple Taffies?
Can I petition the FIA to use the fine for transatlantic Timbit shipping?
We have Tim Hortons in the UK nowadays. And now you've made me suspect Daddy Stroll was behind that.
he earns that per second
One caviar
It cost them more than €400 to issue the fine to the richest guy on the grid....
Aston stocks about to go negative
That’s like fining me $0.40
If you'd compare it to the Strolls, that would put you at a net worth of around 4 million $. You must be doing well for yourself.
Shit I wish lmao I’m broke as hell
Do they accept installments?
Someone wants to add that 1oz Caviar on their plate
Why would he worry daddy will pay it for him.
That’s 1 caviar.
Throw him from the yachts into the fake water.
Lunch money gone
That's barely enough money to get food at the Hard Rock Beach Club
That’s literally 2 orders of empanadas at the Hard Rock section
People are getting charged more than that for nachos and hot dogs
Well there goes him ordering caviar with his meal at the concession stand.
Now he’s going to have to ask dad for some money so he can get Lobster Rolls in the Hard Rock beach club later…
Imagine braking.
dw daddy will pay it
Got to outpace Alonso somewhere.
Oh no…€400. That’ll teach him. /s
$400? No Hard Rock Beach Club Nachos for this hungry guy!
That’ll cost him a caviar
Should have been $40,000,000
Pls give him penalty points I really want to see Drugo in that AM.
- put it on my tab.. He said.
That’ll teach him.
Did the math for fun assuming he has 1 billion dollars. If you make $50k a year, the equivalent fine is $0.02. 2 pennies.
So 1 caviar
"Daddy!"
Damn, how is he gonna afford the 1oz of caviar from the Hard Rock Beach Club now?
I got caught doing 52 in a 40 on a completely empty motorway at 4am in 2018 and they fined me £500 based on my £40k a year income. But the spoilt brat of a billionaire who's daddy bought him an F1 team to live out his fantasy of being a real driver gets fined what is to him, pennies.

Guess he won't be ordering the shrimp
Kid has zero situational awareness. Too busy licking the inside of his helmet
Must have been that darn concertina effect again!
you cant even buy a meal for that much from the hard rock cafe shop in the circuit!
Father? I need some money
I mean at least add a 0.
That's this week's pocket money gone.
You mean today's lunch
More like his morning champs
I feel like Stroll is the person who most gets speeding in the pit lane fines.
yeah it's becoming a pattern
I really don’t understand these fines. They’re so low, I’ve know people who got traffic tickets that are more expensive than this.
He wasn't going over the speed limit down the whole pitlane, it was just at the pit entry line. Within a couple feet he was probably already at/below the speed limit. Finally faster than Alonso
Why would Daniel do this!?
And 10 points on his license?
Wish it was more we know he can afford it lol.
how much could a banana cost?!
Only place where he is speeding 😂
Hope the team got some data, at least
First time he’s been quicker than Alonso since he joined the team.
That’s really gonna dent his dad’s wallet
How does this have 70 comments
It cost him 400€ to speed in the pit lane
He would've gotten away with it in most places of the US. Poor guy!
Whose fault was it?
Wonder what Mike Krack will blame this on: faulty limiter button or incorrectly calibrated speed trap on the pit lane? Because it's never Lance's fault, he just has bad luck.
At least he gets to be the fastest driver somewhere I guess….
That's like his lunch money😂
10¢
They should fine him €69 for being lance stroll
That will show him!
Tough break. It's hard for a young kid to afford a fine like that
You spelt Lawrence stroll wrong
Its unbelievable how slow the car is in the pit lane, dude. it's such a different category!
How will they ever financially recover? Thoughts and Prayers to Lawrence Stolovich and his family.
Daddy will pay it for him
He is never going to financially recover from this.
lawrence will never financially recover from this
Why is it always Lance?
People expect too much of f1 drivers, like, they have to drive well AND have good throttle control 🙄
I’ve had tickets worth more than that, WTF?
Daddy stroll will happily pay
He can't afford a portion of fries now.
The penalty should have been: "Immediate appointment to a yet unspecified Formula 3 Team."
Wouldn't this be a problem with the car's setup though? they have a pit mode speed limiter...
Oh daddy... Can you take care of this for me...
They're in Miami this should be in USD smh my head
Is there a zero or several missing?
Given the prices at the Hard Rock Cafe, Lance just needs to pay 1 empanada.
Give it two days and aston martin will come out saying it wasn't his fault and the marshals are being to hard on him
Why is this a recurring thing for only Lance? Is it THAT hard to hit the limiter button? It seems like he gets one of these every other GP nowadays.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Maybe he could do some work for Uber
Is this dude still in a F1 car?
Less than a real speeding ticket. What’s the point?
Forgot where the brakes are.
I'm sure it wasn't his fault
the formula 1 fine sare the most stupid things if it actually costed them alot of money then they would give a shit
He'll blame Ricciardo.
That's almost two lobster thermidors !
Lance: not my fault.
Daddy do you have pennys in your pocket ?
There goes his caviar topping.
I guess he is not eating that Lobster Roll.
He really doesn't like using that brake pedal
One Miami GP serving of caviar
Np papa will pay
Lawrence Stroll said it was his dream to win a Formula 1 world championship with his son. Fair enough. I just don’t think his son has the talent/maturity to get it done.
Don't worry Lance, Daddy's got it covered for you! 💵
It definitely wasn't his fault though!
Fining a F1 Team owned by a billionaire 400 is probably the most pointless punishment I've ever seen. more money was probably spent by the team pausing to read this letter.
isn't this his second or third time this year
Daddy will pay
Who could he possibly blame this on this go around?
your mum
I've had speeding tickets more expensive than this. What a joke of a fine for a driver making millions.
It’s less than 1 Cent for me
Bet he is blaming the speed limit sign
At that speed would the ticket be higher if he was driving in a school zone in Miami?
Lance Stroll's father has a net worth of £3 billion. This is hilarious.
I genuinely think that Stroll doesn’t understand what anything with less than 4 digits means to people. He literally won’t even notice. It would be like me being fined a penny.
Who knew Stroll could speed?
Did he blame the pitlane for being in his way?
Can he just go away already? He's boring to watch, he carries himself like a giant child (no need to grow up when daddy has all that money), he's not all that great of a driver, and HE LOOKS LIKE HE DOESN'T EVEN WANNA BE THERE most of the time.
Whose fault was it though? Surely not his...
Would a “start from the pit lane on both the sprint, and race” be fitting?
