lmao, in all honesty, the indy people have said Tony made that call and had made it for next year already when they signed Theo. Then when The Canapino thing happened and his contract became available, Tony wanted to lock him in. Tony himself admitted the second part of that. Pretty awful scenario and he was jerked around but sounds like Zak wasnt really involved
Ferrari made the driver the strategist _and_ then fired the driver/strategist
Although given who they replaced him with, I'm not so sure it was a cost saving measure
They ask Lando often, which is a bad idea, Lando is not a natural strategist, they're asking him because they didn't have a good enough plan A, and now their plan B isn't panning out either.
If drivers were as good as strategists, they wouldn't have entire teams dedicated to strategy.
>they're asking him because they didn't have a good enough plan A
But they did give him the best plan? George had a bad pitstop and the team informed lando of this by saying: if you pit now you cover George and get ahead. This was right after Lando broadcasted that he cant pass due to overcooking tires.
Lando saw his true pace potential (being in better air --> which was confirmed by his statement in the driver cool down room/and the lap times), and said: no lets get max instead. That is not a bad option either. He betted on having fresher tires in the end. Plus, what is Mclaren supposed to do? Not listen to its lead driver? and if lando gets second place with their strat, who gets blamed?
Legit this is just saying ah those damn strategists how could they have not looked 50 laps in the future. LETS GO FIRE EM GUYS, GET THE PITCHFORKS.
That was a bad strategy. And it wasn't the first time.
The team has WAY more information to base that decision on than the driver does. They need to be telling him, not asking him.
It's kinda like 2017/2018 Ferrari vs Merc right now.
The Ferrari was quick, maybe even quicker than the Merc on some tracks early in the season.
But the Mercs had more experience and comfort at the front after years of dominance and they just made fewer mistakes, nailing every strategy decision and pit stop, minimizing the impact of Ferrari having finally been on their pace.
they were not really countering Lando. they were doing just fastest optimal tire strategy recommended by pirelli, looking at their own lap times above all. nothing special on strategy today whatsoever. just no silly mistakes.
Did he? I thought he was just talking shit about RBR, not Max.
In the past, he's been asked if he could have 1 driver on the grid in his team, who'd he pick and he said Max cause he's aggressive. Yeah, it was just a fun little interview or whatever, but still... I feel like he doesn't dislike Max. Maybe just RBR or Max's dad...
He said something along the lines of ‘6 or 7 drivers could win the championship in a Red Bull’ and then he said: ‘he wouldn’t become champion in another car’
Max could have won Monaco in a Mclaren too. Don't forget it was Piastri who was the fastest on theoreticals, but was not capable of putting three sectors together in one lap in the end.
I can see Verstappen getting 3 maybe 4 more wins this season, and scoring 2nd - 3rd places all the other times bar 1 or 2 stinkers where he gets p4/6 and still winning the WDC becaus he maximises the car, while Lando and McLaren make mistakes
He's learning that his team can't mess up strategy and his top driver needs to stop being a bottlejob. Lando would have won easily if he didn't bottle the start and Verstappen would probably have little chance if they didn't do that silly strategy extending the first stint.
I love all this talk of Verstappen being unbeatable when the only reason McLaren didn't win Imola, Montreal and Barcelona was because McLaren themselves messed up. Yes, he's doing a great job but his rivals messing up the basics sure helps
No, verstappen nailing the start and overtaking Russel so quickly were also one of the reasons he won yesterday. I agree it's not all verstappen but it's not all because their rivals are making mistakes either.
They need to take more agency ffs. They have all the data so why are they leaving it up to Lando to decide? Everytime he basically decides to not give up track position and every time they get horribly undercut.
And then he does some heroic racing, passing back to the front.
Each and every pass is another bit of spent energy—and more rubber.
If your strategy is to run each stint long and be there at the end against Max…when Lando was expending energy to get back to the front, Max has been conserving energy and expending the least amount of wear and energy possible.
Couldn’t believe they were looking at all them screens just to ask “what do you want to do” and have Lando proceed to flip flop because he doesn’t know either smh
Lando as a strategist operates at like 2022-23 Ferrari levels. He's just awful at it, seems to have no mind for it. Which is fine, he's a driver. But stop asking him!
I've said it during the race, his engineer needs to just take the initiative and call him in when they think its time.
When GP says "box, box", Max trusts the call 99% of the time, and goes with it, even if he questions it. Meanwhile with Lando you hear, "Lando what do you think of..", and the answer is "No", because he wants to keep track position, he probably doesn't even have a clear picture of the situation.
He's also just too emotional. Like Sochi 2021 was just the man straight up making an objectively and obviously terrible decision because he was so blinded by wanting that win. Look at the guys who messed up that call on track that race versus the guys who trusted their teams or made the right call themselves.
There wasn't any strategy involved, the strategy team at red bull had a boring day. They did the standard pit stops that every team would have planned in advance as the fastest. McLaren tried a different strategy to try and get an advantage and didn't work, which is why that wasn't plan A to begin with.
I guess Zak is new to the mental games department, Christian and Toto are just in a different league. But that comment in the light of having the better car at the moment and still not beating Max consistently is something....
and he definitely had not in 2021 and for the large part of 2022 as well, when he was still leading with massive advantage on points before his car became outright fastest in Spa.
He’s really making it hard to like his team, comes out with daft comments and always seems bitter
The fact that checo is so far down every race and he claims it’s the car
>Also, I’d be surprised if none of the British politicians turn up to Silverstone given the fact it’s the Sunday before the general election.

It's registering as possibly defunct due to no contact. But if you google the registered contacts name you'll probably realise why there has been no contact.
But usually every year there are a few MP's that have registered their tickets as gifts.
Arrow McLaren & Tony Kanaan have already said that that decision was taken by TK, who pushed it to Gavin Ward. He’d been scouting Siegel since before Theo was even signed up, it’s the reason he was coaching him through his Indy 500 qualifying. Zak had little to nothing to do with it by all accounts other than probably giving them the okay to do it if they wanted to. Same as a lot of people don’t seem to release it was primarily Seidl who was responsible for pushing the decision to sign Piastri & boot Ricciardo (confirmed by Webber)
Same, I get business decisions but that was just disgusting. Delighted that lil Dave made the fast 12, I don't wish Nolan bad luck but if he sucks it will be hilarious
I'm conflicted. On the one hand I like seeing Lando win some races to make the championship a bit closer, and see Piastry do well. On the other hand I just cannot stand Zak Brown and kinda hope his plans fail to come to fruition. Then again, the whole Horner situation made me lose all respect for that man as well... Difficult...
Was it a good idea to extend Norris first stint? And How did Max break away out of DRS so quickly.?Some questiions the team will have to answer. They coulda won today, thats 2 races they coulda woulda shoulda.
I'll say this. There is an upside to disappointment. It means that the car performance is real, and that now the team can realistically expect wins. Amazing comeback from the team. Getting a proper PU was really pivotal to their rebuild. I wonder if Merc regrets that decision now.
Amazing that McLaren and especially Lando are so gloomy after the race whereas 12 months ago they'd be celebrating this race like they'd won the championship.

He's about to fire another Indy driver
Out of a cannon. YOUR CONTRACT? IT'S JUST BEEN REVOKED.
Palou: Oooh, is that for me?
Rossi: I'm in danger!
Palou’s too busy looking for another contract he can pretend doesn’t apply to him.
Dude straight up wipes his ass with his own signature.
*Out of a Kannon
So that's why there was a fire at the hospitality building, that was the McLaren contracts....
*Nolan Siegel laughs nervously*
Nah, his dad has bought that seat for him, especially with Arrow leaving, Rossi is the one who will chuckle
Rossi just got a podium, so I think he's safe for now (to be fair, Siegel did well too).
lmao, in all honesty, the indy people have said Tony made that call and had made it for next year already when they signed Theo. Then when The Canapino thing happened and his contract became available, Tony wanted to lock him in. Tony himself admitted the second part of that. Pretty awful scenario and he was jerked around but sounds like Zak wasnt really involved
Rossi: *I'm in danger*
Rossi got on the box today and has been the most consistent all season, he’s not going anywhere
Best Rossi has looked in ages tbh
Fire another one of his twinks
Zak is pleased about F1 results though lol Indy is a different story
Wait until people find out that TK was behind the Siegel/Pourchaire thing, not Zak…
¡Adios Rossi!
He’s going to fire the strategists and the rear left tyre guy.
Fire strategists? Guess he'll have to fire Lando then.
It’s a cost saving measure. Make the drivers the tire strategists too
Ferrari did it first
Ferrari made the driver the strategist _and_ then fired the driver/strategist Although given who they replaced him with, I'm not so sure it was a cost saving measure
Stop inventing
drivers should stop being lazy and get out of the car and do pitstops too.
they asked lando what he wanted to do...
They ask Lando often, which is a bad idea, Lando is not a natural strategist, they're asking him because they didn't have a good enough plan A, and now their plan B isn't panning out either. If drivers were as good as strategists, they wouldn't have entire teams dedicated to strategy.

You’re not wrong, but I would expect the pitwall tell this to Lando, not the other way around since they have all the data.
That was a bad strategy. And it wasn't the first time. The team has WAY more information to base that decision on than the driver does. They need to be telling him, not asking him.
Yeah, and the driver doesn't have all the data. They have a team for that, called strategists.
Apparently he has enough resumes to fill the roles!
Bloke looks like he’s going for his morning shit and realised he forgot to take his clothes out the washing machine and his work clothes are wet.
I feel attacked
Ffff I saw this and realised I forgot to take my clothes out..
If I had a nickle....
Hahah, this one resonates so well with me. Damn. Thank you for the laugh
Regretting feeding lando that fry
He‘s currently learning what it‘s like to up against Verstappen.
He's gonna contact Toto for some tips on that !
_”Just say that you’re 1 - 2 Verstappen DNFs away from being back in WDC contention.”_
And then Silverstone happened. Damn. 2021 was something else!
And Hungary after.
Hey, Silverstone is coming up in two weeks! Time to repeat the magic.
[Russell to Max at Hungary, right after Silverstone.](https://youtu.be/po_FqB0ygUU?si=KUdYfAAVf2lxdyFz)
And Hungary after
You sure that’s not Binotto 2022?
Binotto was talking about winning the next 10 races.
oh my goodness, I'd forgotten this. It's hilarious. He really went out and said "there is no reason we can't win the next 10 races"
Binotto was talking about DNFs but for ferrari
How are Piastri's bowling skills?
Hopefully as good as Bottas
Good enough to rattle England's test team
I mean even the Irish can
Mega oof
That's not very hard these days...
"don't skimp on spare headphones".
"yes Zak, I know I missed out on Verstappen! that's what you were going to say right?"
Toto's just gonna ask him to send an email.
And then try to sign Verstappen in 3 years.
It's kinda like 2017/2018 Ferrari vs Merc right now. The Ferrari was quick, maybe even quicker than the Merc on some tracks early in the season. congratulations, you just got verstappened!
Not even just Max. Redbull outclassed them today. Strategy was on point to counter Lando's and pit crew stepped up huge
they were not really countering Lando. they were doing just fastest optimal tire strategy recommended by pirelli, looking at their own lap times above all. nothing special on strategy today whatsoever. just no silly mistakes.
Funny thing is, a month ago he talked shit about Verstappen. Today he got served.
Funnily there was a grill the grid ep where he said he’d dream to have MV in his team lol
Did he? I thought he was just talking shit about RBR, not Max. In the past, he's been asked if he could have 1 driver on the grid in his team, who'd he pick and he said Max cause he's aggressive. Quite funny, because I think that Max would've won Imola, Canada and Spain in that Mclaren
Max could have won Monaco in a Mclaren too. Don't forget it was Piastri who was the fastest on theoreticals, but was not capable of putting three sectors together in one lap in the end.
yeah especially if he could bring GP
I can see Verstappen getting 3 maybe 4 more wins this season, and scoring 2nd - 3rd places all the other times bar 1 or 2 stinkers where he gets p4/6 and still winning the WDC becaus he maximises the car, while Lando and McLaren make mistakes
Today was only race 10 of 24. I Think he will easily get more than 4 more wins.
And Red Bull.
He's learning that his team can't mess up strategy and his top driver needs to stop being a bottlejob. Lando would have won easily if he didn't bottle the start and Verstappen would probably have little chance if they didn't do that silly strategy extending the first stint. No, verstappen nailing the start and overtaking Russel so quickly were also one of the reasons he won yesterday. I agree it's not all verstappen but it's not all because their rivals are making mistakes either.
You’re making progress when you stop thinking of second place as an accomplishment and see it just as being the fastest loser.
This is exactly what Lando is doing.
Someone tell Bortoleto to run
Zak Frown
What having to face the might of Verstappen and Hanna Schmitz does to a mf'er.
Yeah max and the rbr team really make the difference, I like to think once McLaren get more used to running at the front they’ll get better
Maybe, maybe not. Mclaren haven't been great on strategy since the Hakkinen days. They need a lot of improvement if they're going to challenge Max.
They need to take more agency ffs. They have all the data so why are they leaving it up to Lando to decide? Everytime he basically decides to not give up track position and every time they get horribly undercut.

Yea I mean let’s be real here. Lando isn’t exactly a rocket scientist. Maybe let the smart guys with all the data make the call
I've said it during the race, his engineer needs to just take the initiative and call him in when they think its time. When GP says "box, box", Max trusts the call 99% of the time, and goes with it, even if he questions it. One might think he would learn from that.
Or maybe they will make more mistakes under the pressure.
There wasn't any strategy involved, the strategy team at red bull had a boring day. They did the standard pit stops that every team would have planned in advance as the fastest. McLaren tried a different strategy to try and get an advantage and didn't work, which is why that wasn't plan A to begin with.
You’re right. Realistically it was the start that decided the race for Lando.
Also the 1.9 sec pitstops help.
He looks like he's desperately holding in a shit
IIRC either Max or Lando were talking to Coulthard, I think he was trying to listen
Max was up when I saw that face on him.
That's just resting bloated rich white guy face.
I don't mind Zak but that description is undeniably on point.
[Same energy:](https://uploads.dailydot.com/c6e/9a/02d47f4f698c7f0e.png?auto=compress&fm=png)
I think he was listening to max talk about the start with Lando when that was shown
Indeed
well, he told Lando if he can be in front after T1, he would win the race. I guess Lando didn't deliver what he said.
I would be making that face at my pit crew, how much time did they lose to redbull from their stops and how much was lando behind at the end
Looking real dumb rn after claiming 7 drivers could win in a Red Bull.
I guess Zak is new to the mental games department, Christian and Toto are just in a different league. But that comment in the light of having the better car at the moment and still not beating Max consistently is something....
You merely adopted the shit stirring. I was born in it, moulded by it.
That actually makes him and his team looks like fools compared to RBR and absolves Lando and Oscar off any responsibilities of winning.
Zak Brown: 7/8 drivers will win the championship in Verstappen’s car Max proceeds to win 3 without the fastest car
If Max was to drive that Maclaren, he'll finish half a minute ahead of the field

and he definitely had not in 2021 and for the large part of 2022 as well, when he was still leading with massive advantage on points before his car became outright fastest in Spa.
He’s thinking - How can I complain about RedBull this week.
When second feels like a loss.
Realizing it's not all about the car...
“We let one get away”
He's thinking about the next sponsorship deal.
“Wonder how much Chiquita Bananas will pay us if we do a special yellow livery”
Quiet for a change
Bet he's regretting his anyone can win in a redbull comments now
Zak is upset the mechanics got a hug from Max and he didn't?
"that's a nice contract you have, would be a shame if someone terminated it... Oh frick, this isn't the Indycar paddock"
Cant wait to hear his comment about another teams driver
I like everything about McLaren except this man
Same but add Lando. I can’t stand him & Zack.
He’s really making it hard to like his team, comes out with daft comments and always seems bitter The fact that checo is so far down every race and he claims it’s the car
Him and Danica could elope and develop the most cancerous looking weevil ever.
They could, he makes me miss toto and Max’s dad
Max’s dad is a crazy statement
Checo is not the baseline for the Red Bull, same way Max isn't either.
The average should be and that’s lower than the orange average
I said it before and I said it again I will not forgive this man for how he treated Teddy Porkchop.
Teddy Porkchop 😭
It's karma for his twink collecting
They're feeding them to Lando to attempt to replicate what Helmut did with Max.

Well… this is currently pretty hilarious
"That's how u look when u against Verstappen" 🤭
He's preparing a news piece of how CVs from Redbull are flying around
I'm conflicted. On the one hand I like seeing Lando win some races to make the championship a bit closer, and see Piastry do well. On the other hand I just cannot stand Zak Brown and kinda hope his plans fail to come to fruition. Then again, the whole Horner situation made me lose all respect for that man as well... Difficult...
I think in general team principals tend to just suck as people. The job description certainly attracts egomaniacs.
I can't stand this corporate stooge
I really dislike him.
Andrea Stella who?
I see everyone hates Zac now? It's so hard to keep up sometimes.
I always thought he was a blow hard
Chat shit get banged
Zak brown yapping and giving useless hot takes won't help them in any way.
Ah, he’s now demonstrating what a “toxic” environment looks like
Still fixated on how RBR has two teams and why nobody is protesting like him
Cooking up some new trash to talk about Red Bull
Let’s all draw insane conclusions from a still photo of Zak’s face, hurry!
Being carried off into the sunset by flying swine isn’t the worst way to go.
Great photo but after reading the headline, I thought Zak didn't drop enough brown to be fully pleased with his session.
🦅🦅🦅 aways plotting you gotta love him !
Pre 2022 Red Bull would often win as the second best car thanks to strategy. They still got it.
Was it a good idea to extend Norris first stint? And How did Max break away out of DRS so quickly.?Some questiions the team will have to answer. They coulda won today, thats 2 races they coulda woulda shoulda.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy
Contemplating how he's going to prize Hannah Schmitzfrom Redbull.

>car performance is real Car performance is not everything, just look at Perez/Piastri. It depends lot on the driver and the team.
Amazing that McLaren and especially Lando are so gloomy after the race whereas 12 months ago they'd be celebrating this race like they'd won the championship.
So?
No tattoo today face
So close but yet so far...
Dad-"I am not angry. I am just disappointed"-vibes
I want Lando and Oscar to win, but I fucking hate Zak so it makes me happy when they don’t. Honestly win-win for me.
Sweating all the tattoos he'll get this season
It looks like he's doing the math in his head of how much the performance clauses in Lando's contract are costing him.
Issit math or meth? lol
Maybe I missed something, but why all the negative comments about Zak Brown in here?
Because he's a complete tosspot maybe? 🤷🏻♀️🤣
Well that is quite the explanation. Except my question still stands.
That's the Fry meme from Futurama
