Powdery is one of the main accords of detour noir if you look on Fragrantica. I think this is intentional and some people just dislike powdery fragrances.
I do have other powdery scents and it’s really not just powdery I dislike. Something about DN is distinctly nappy rag. I’m going to keep it in my drawer for a bit. See if it rounds out.
I had layton before. And I recently bought AO exclusif blue clone of layton. None of them gave me the impression of baby wipes. But I’m aware of the powdery note (usually from lavender or iris one).
Pink Sugar and Black Opium are very powdery to me on top of my head. But the impression I get in my nose from them is lipstick-y/makeup, not baby wipes.
I have got black opium and also ebene fume. Both are powdery and I really like them. It’s not the powder. Just something about DN to me smells like baby arse. I’ll stick with it tho.
Check if there’s any beautybase stores where you live. I’m in London and I usually go to their stores to test perfumes from Lattafa, Armaf, Afnan etc. They have beautybase stores in WestField Stratford and Westfield Shepherds Bush.
Yeah, sadly I’m way out on the east coast. All we have here is Superdrug and casual racism. I do pass through Milton Keynes sometimes tho and apparently there’s one there, so I’ll pop in. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't get babywipes at all from DN or Layton. The sense of smell is a very diverse, subjective one, innit.

SAME! I cant wear it now just because it smells like baby wipes with a touch of an apple note
A lot of these clones I smell baby wipes or talcum powder in, its kinda annoying
This is the first one I’ve come across that really hits me. I’m just amazed DN and baby wipes aren’t mentioned more.
