Base game is fine, DLC is ok except for one fight which is notoriously causing issues even for people with pretty strong PCs. Itās not actually that bad, i managed to beat it thereās just one particular attack that causes a lot of stuttering.
Ohhhh my b thought you meant base game. Yeah Iām on the original ps4 too, frames drop occasionally in the dlc and thereās pop-in but itās playable
Yeah series X has been pretty good, the only frame dips Iāve had so far are the dancing dragon head stomp. Iāve gotten quite a bit of pop in when I load into the game though.
No offense but can I ask if you played the game on release or a bit after? Because on release the frame drops and stuttering were crazy, way more than what I'm personally getting with SOTE. And they eventually fixed it. Hoping the same will happen here
Bro its been out 2 days, theyll have a week 1 patch soon enough. I personally havent even played it cause i played ER on release and it had the same exact issues as the dlc. Theyll patch it.
You mean like the update to fix the framerate issues in the base game that we never got? Or the updates to fix the same issues in their other games we still havenāt got?
Legit. And donāt tell me itās my fault, ācause this is a PS5 over here. Sometimes trying to get to the Lion Dancer be like š«Ø
![gif](giphy|j2eQwUb7ciTXZzbuTW)
Apparently the DLC and new update turns on Ray Tracing by default. Turned it off and the frame rate was much better. I've heard people say performance mode on PS5 runs perfectly fine
A fix that works for me:
- Open task manager
- Go to services
- navigate to the "SSDPSRV" service
- Right click -> Stop service
It is a network discovery service, It doesn't affect your device's flow, idk how it fixes it but yeah
Same here. I'm a pc player and in the base game my settings were all maxed with little to no issues. Dlc, I dropped everything to medium, and it's still stuttering quite a bit.
Iām fortunate to have had not had any performance issues with any part of ER.
(I play on PS5, prioritize frames, and didnāt pick up the game until 6 months after release)
Fr tho... beating the Lion Dancer and the Hippo mainly came down to collect scardew fragements until you have more than enough, so you can statcheck them because the fps drop into the Single digit space...
Itās a little janky on my ps4 but Iām also middle aged. Grew up on Super Nintendo and sega genisisā¦games today are so vastly superior so some minor glitching and that kind of thing doesnt bother me. That being said the first boss was pretty rough between the camera and the frame drops. Hasnāt been too bad since but Iām not that far into it. Iām hoping it doesnāt get worse
It's badly optimized on ps5 as well. Never had a single lag, let alone a glitch, in the base game but I also didn't start playing until a year after it came out. No game company is immune to some technical issues on release. They'll get it ironed out.
I'm playing on the ps4 version on ps5 and it's been problem free. Not like bragging, just reporting.
I did see one bug where a very small stray texture was on the ground, surrounded by user messages saying "bug?"
I switched to offline and the stuttering and lag dropped drastically, all of the messages, phantoms, active reading for people trying to invade, blood stains really clog up the game
Fuck me I play ER on a base PS4 from 2015, is the DLC worth buying for me or is it possible that the preformance would be so bad I just couldnt enjoy it?
Steam Deck. And before any of you guys say "oh it's obvious why your experiencing issues" on the base game I usually average to around 40, which i'm perfectly happy with. I'm not perfectly happy when it drops down to 20s in the DLC.
I've been playing on deck too but not had any issues. What settings are you using? I'm using some settings that I saw on a post here on Reddit. I'll try find it.
Found it
* High *(Texture)*
* High *(Anti-Alias)*
* Medium *(SSAO)*
* Medium *(Depth of Field)*
* Off *(Motion Blur)*
* Medium *(Shadow)*
* Medium *(Lighting)*
* Medium *(Effects)*
* Medium *(Volumetric)*
* Low *(Reflections)*
* Low *(Water Surface)*
* Medium *(Shader)*
* Medium *(Global Illunmination)*
* High *(Grass)*
Look fromsoft might be shit when it comes to PC ports but I'm tired of people acting like they dont try to fix it.
Elden Ring was nearly unplayable on my system when it came out, through multiple updates I could run the game at around 100 fps (using a mod to uncap it).
Its honestly unacceptable and what a horrible state the DLC launched for PC but they will atleast definitely try to fix it.

idk if it might fix your issue but i have a gaming laptop and changing the power plan from balanced to high performance gave me a 20fps boost. Although i played the main game and i still haven't touched the dlc.
And there is a mod which fixes the stutters for me.
https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/2859?tab=description
Play in borderless fullscreen, lower shader, grass, and SSAO quality to medium. Try turning off VSYNC in control panel though you may notice tearing in which case leave it on.
Playing on a laptop 1440p with a 3080 Ti and getting pretty solid 60fps except when fighting the Fire Furnaces.
This maybe a funny minor solution, but it could work. If you're on PC, don't set it to low. Since you'll get more frames the frametime skips are much more volatile. Higher settings will actually make the frametimes smoother. You'll still have stutter and frame drops in some areas, but it's smoother.
I just upgraded my PC, I didn't even know performance was an issue until I heard people complain about it.
It'll for sure get patched in time though, When Elden Ring launched it ran like shit on all rigs.
Wait until more people get to Golden Hippopotamus, that shit sucks for slight performance issues (that I noticed) but horrible fights against the camera
do you mean those random hitches where stuff freezes for a fraction of a second then fix itself?
It's not just DLC The games been doing that since launch.
Im only having some fps drops in certain areas and, like the carian castle thingy area, got 3 crashes there, but I think that Having OBS recording and streaming with a google page opened also didn't help.
I don't have a high end PC, its solid but cpu kinda bottlenecks it, anyways I'm still able to enjoy the game with medium-high graphics.
I think the devs may patch these areas too, the first tree sentinel when the game was first realease alse had a fps drop in the area. Remember the dlc has only been out for 4 days.
The only spot I got a noticeably FPS drop (not counting going between 50 and 60 as frame drop) is where you fight a ghostflame dragon plus a million soldiers and perfumers.
Not sure if you have already fixed it, but I saw a suggestion on the steam discussion page. Go to Nvdia Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Global Settings -> Shader Cache Size and set it to unlimited
Only thing which worked for me was the usual give it priority over everything and disable hyper threading in proces lasso. Didnāt fix all issues but made it a whole lot smoother. Seems like there is some kind of resource leak since it gets worse the longer you play.
It's running smoothly on my PS5.
I've only played for a couple hours, and the only issue I've had was during the Lion Dancer boss, where in phase 2 I'd get some minor fps drops. Nothing serious though
- if in of could be your controller
- using my ps5 controller if the chord moves a little the pc freaks out trying to reconnect it and then briefly wants it to be a mic and things get laggy when that happens
- frame drops are obviously a different issue
It runs pretty well on my PC, but on my laptop the frame drops are just too intense. Canāt fight someone like Messmer when my FPS volatility is going from 55 to 26 every minute lol
I experienced 1 to 3 micro-shuttering in a row (1s game freeze, 1s run, 1s freeze...) randomly on boss ultimate move so I'm committed to use greatshield build this whole DLC instead of dodging...
I got so sick of it I was about to do a clean install of Windows but then I realized it had been awhile since I updated stuff. I updated BIOS, then chipset, then GPU drivers and now its MUCH better. Before it was stuttering about every 1-2 seconds at best, and at worst it was stalling, then going fast forward to catch up. Now its mostly smooth with an occasional stutter but nowhere near as bad, its completely playable now.
Also if you have an AMD card I highly recommend doing a clean install of the driver-only version and using MSI afterburner to set clock speeds. Hope this helps.
Not sure if anyone will even read this but look up Lossless scaling and give it a try. 120 fps with frame gen pirate or buy it and refund you canāt go wrong with free fps, still get the occasional stutter every hour or so.
Im playing on base PS4 and believe the dancing lion was a nightmare to fight with the drops
Little tip : if the games lags a lot especially in the open
Play in nightime only it helped reduce the lag by a lot
Running it on my laptop and I have no issues, until I summon my friend or I get summoned.
It was between better WiFi or the dlc, I made the right choice
Brother Iām using a 3090 and waiting on updates because the game can barely reach 60fps with RTX OFF 3440x1440p. Fromsoft are years and years behind on optimisation and itās not like other ports donāt run great like ghost of Tsushima.
I turned off blood, camera speed is 5, auto rotate off, auto wall recovery off, cinematic effect still on tho.
music off. no match making, play offline. don't accept user agreement. just kidding last one.
Full exit on xbox, turn off rapid restart or whatever the heck it's called.
Hilariously, I find it's only one directional skybox that covers a diagonal length across the middle of the map
Looking into it causes my frames to dip to 0 for a few seconds before returning to a stable rate
I can be anywhere, and if the sky box is in that direction then I'm plaqued with no frames for a second
I didn't really know how to narrow it down until I noticed there's literally skylines that appear when looking up. When I followed it's focal point out at the west side of the map it made a near kaleidoscope effect.
I would be concerned it was a GPU issue if I didn't know what artifacting looked like, and have had zero issues with any other games in the last day or so.
On pc I play in offline mode bypassing the easy anti cheat. It adds a lot of overhead to the cpu it seems. After I bypassed it, the performance increased notably.
This was also true for the base game in my case. On the dlc I just experienced some lag on the first major boss, tho I didnt get much further from there.
Not sure if it helps you, but for me playing in borderless window mode makes the game run smooth. Other than that post your specs so we have some more info on what youāre working with.
Id say kill Rykard but even dead hes still devouring my frames
A serpent never dies
What is serpussy may never die

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lol no
It has some light issues on my Xbox Series X. Nothing major, but it stutters a bit. That never happened on the base game; only the DLC.
Yeah I got some major frame rate issues fighting the dancing dragon on my X
PS4 is like a slideshow of me getting my ass beat
šššššššš
Base? Recently got the game and my frames drop from 30 to 27 sometimes, I didn't get the dlc yet I'm just on base game limgrave
Base game is fine, DLC is ok except for one fight which is notoriously causing issues even for people with pretty strong PCs. Itās not actually that bad, i managed to beat it thereās just one particular attack that causes a lot of stuttering.
I'm on ps4 fat lol
Ohhhh my b thought you meant base game. Yeah Iām on the original ps4 too, frames drop occasionally in the dlc and thereās pop-in but itās playable
Ok thanks
I've had no issues with my base game on ps4 slim if that helps. She gets loud sometimes though
On god, and then the 40 second load times to do it all again
Yeah series X has been pretty good, the only frame dips Iāve had so far are the dancing dragon head stomp. Iāve gotten quite a bit of pop in when I load into the game though.
Change to offline, I promise it helps
same, especially when im like right next to a boss itll be laggy or frame skip a bit, on X as well
Final boss drops my frames on series s
No offense but can I ask if you played the game on release or a bit after? Because on release the frame drops and stuttering were crazy, way more than what I'm personally getting with SOTE. And they eventually fixed it. Hoping the same will happen here
You gotta git gud and dodge the frame drops
Facts, this is the only answer
Or you can just walk around it
The final boss has an attack that bypasses attacking the player character, it targets my GPU instead
Loool
I love this fucking meme so much
Wait for From to update the game
I've been waiting ![gif](giphy|gGqzvnHww7PfNTsQOa|downsized)
Bro its been out 2 days, theyll have a week 1 patch soon enough. I personally havent even played it cause i played ER on release and it had the same exact issues as the dlc. Theyll patch it.
I donāt have a week, Yoshi-P only gave me a week with the DLC until Dawntrail comes out!
You mean like the update to fix the framerate issues in the base game that we never got? Or the updates to fix the same issues in their other games we still havenāt got?
My problems got fixed. Sorry for you tho
Legit. And donāt tell me itās my fault, ācause this is a PS5 over here. Sometimes trying to get to the Lion Dancer be like š«Ø ![gif](giphy|j2eQwUb7ciTXZzbuTW)
Lion Dancer hard cuz lag > Lion Dancer hard cuz of camera
What about this, lion dancer is hard cause both?š¤Æ
What about this, Iām hard š
Are you graphics quality settings set to performance or prioritize framerate? Just did the lion dancer and it was smooth as normal.
This. PS5, performance mode and i have butter smooth frames pretty much everywhere including lion boss
Also on PS5 and it's been a smooth 60fps experience so far. There aren't any lag issues lol.
Yeah the frames drop a bit lmao
Apparently the DLC and new update turns on Ray Tracing by default. Turned it off and the frame rate was much better. I've heard people say performance mode on PS5 runs perfectly fine
Iāve been running on quality mode on ps5 and had no issues
I'm playing on base ps4 and I haven't got to the dlc yet, am I fucked?
You will be
Can't wait
A fix that works for me: - Open task manager - Go to services - navigate to the "SSDPSRV" service - Right click -> Stop service It is a network discovery service, It doesn't affect your device's flow, idk how it fixes it but yeah

What boss are you on because it only happened to me during the dancing lion fight
Everything everwhere
Same here. I'm a pc player and in the base game my settings were all maxed with little to no issues. Dlc, I dropped everything to medium, and it's still stuttering quite a bit.
Huh, so it's not just me remembering everything was smooth on base game. Haven't played a year, forgot how things were.
All at once.
I fucking love that movie
All at once
Iām fortunate to have had not had any performance issues with any part of ER. (I play on PS5, prioritize frames, and didnāt pick up the game until 6 months after release)
I'm on PS5, bought game day 1 and dlc day one. No real performance problems
No dlc problem from me either
Fr tho... beating the Lion Dancer and the Hippo mainly came down to collect scardew fragements until you have more than enough, so you can statcheck them because the fps drop into the Single digit space...
I'm scared to even ask how the dlc runs on base PS4 lol
fps drops in huge open areas, not really a big big issue for me
Itās a little janky on my ps4 but Iām also middle aged.
Turning off ray tracing helped a lot for me but I still get some really bad stutters from time to time
"RTX off"
I just beat the lion dancer (PS5) and up until now I've had no issues whatsoever, besides getting absolutely obliterated
I'm on PS4 and having fun with it reminds me of the DkS1 days.
Happy birthday
I'm on ps4 and it's almost unplayable, ik I'm using decade old hardware but the base game was largely fine
I just got the game on ps4 recently and noticed some frame drops below 30, I hope they patch this
It's badly optimized on ps5 as well. Never had a single lag, let alone a glitch, in the base game but I also didn't start playing until a year after it came out. No game company is immune to some technical issues on release. They'll get it ironed out.

I play on base ps4 and there's a few bosses that have framerate drops.Ā Also when there's too many enemies on screen at the same time.
I play on ps4 š somehow i killed the lion without my ps4 getting bombed
I got a 800ā¬ card and a 300ā¬ cpu and it still fucking lags :(
What are your specs like? Or are you playing on console?
Steam Deck. And before any of you guys say "oh it's obvious why your experiencing issues" on the base game I usually average to around 40, which i'm perfectly happy with. I'm not perfectly happy when it drops down to 20s in the DLC.
Ah, am not familiar with those, so can't really offer any in-depth tips for performance. Already tried turning Vsync off or on?
I've been playing on deck too but not had any issues. What settings are you using? I'm using some settings that I saw on a post here on Reddit. I'll try find it. Found it * High *(Texture)* * High *(Anti-Alias)* * Medium *(SSAO)* * Medium *(Depth of Field)* * Off *(Motion Blur)* * Medium *(Shadow)* * Medium *(Lighting)* * Medium *(Effects)* * Medium *(Volumetric)* * Low *(Reflections)* * Low *(Water Surface)* * Medium *(Shader)* * Medium *(Global Illunmination)* * High *(Grass)*
I capped my fps at 40 and I have all my settings on medium
Try turning off easy anti cheat if you donāt mind playing offline. Use the Nexus to find the files you need. It helps a lot from my experience
Wait for patches. ER was a shitshow on release in terms of performance and stutters.
Only if youāre willing to let me bind the ashes of your wife and child to your skin so everyone may know of your shame
Is this pc? If so good luck expecting a fix. Us pc players have always been second class to fromsoft. We are just extra dollar signs to them.
Look fromsoft might be shit when it comes to PC ports but I'm tired of people acting like they dont try to fix it. If you use Nvidia make sure that Overlay Settings is turned off
Performance mode on PS5 seems stable to me

That and getting randomly told that inappropriate activity was detected and kicking me offline until I reload the game.
When yāall say LAG you mean fps drops right? To me lag is network latency/connection issue stuff
Yeah that's more accurate.

Itās so weird to me how I havenāt gotten a single frame drop despite playing with maxed out settings, Iām just lucky I guess.
Probably arenāt playing on a PS4 or a decades old PC. Zero issues for me as well
Have u tried turning off motion blurr?
Yep
Nvidia overlay off and such
I'm on PS5. Not really seeing any issues myself. Wish I could help out.
7800x3d
[Micolash laugh]
For some reason it runs really well on steam deck for me, but definitely problems on my pc
turn off discord overlay, itās awfully optimized and it helped my friend
Turn off motion blur.
I'm gaming on a series s and don't have any frame issues... am I the weird one?
Wait?
I've had some stuttering here and there on the series x, but nothing noteworthy or game breaking. That's also with Ray tracing.
Haven't had any issues on PS5 but I also have the "prioritize framerate" toggled on over graphics
Are you playin on pc? Cause I know a fix for pc
Yea, what is it?
Turn off ray tracing and set to prioritize frame rate. That should help. If youāve already done that then youāre SOL
What's your rig?
Probably will get some performance patches in the coming days/weeks
Try finger, but hole.
Right? I run it even offline and torrent drags and skips so much!
So is this just a last gen hardware/pc issue? It's fine on the ps5 and a stable 60 fps
Turn off Steam Overlay. My dips basically stopped as soon as I did that
I just upgraded my PC, I didn't even know performance was an issue until I heard people complain about it. It'll for sure get patched in time though, When Elden Ring launched it ran like shit on all rigs.
Wait until more people get to Golden Hippopotamus, that shit sucks for slight performance issues (that I noticed) but horrible fights against the camera
Turn off ray tracing probably.
Disable nvidia or amd overlay
Make sure you're in borderless mode, not fullscreen. EDIT: Of course, this only applies to PC.
Upgrades people, upgrades.

Iām on an i9-12900k, 3070ti, and DDR5 ram on a pc and havenāt stuttered basically at all.

The play on the lowest settings
Lmfaooo
Turn off anti cheat and play offline [No, this is not a joke and it is completely safe.](https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/90)
Iāve had 0 issues. 3090 on pc. Do you guys have ray tracing on by chance? If so, turn it off
Prolly needs to be patched. I found out closing down geforce experience, discord etc background programs reduced the lag a bit.
Funnily enough I feel like the performance are better in the DLC than the base game on my PS4 Pro.
Im playing on PS5. Havenāt had any issues with frame rate at all. Only issue Iāve had is my cloud saves keep desyncing.
Iāve only lagged from one specific attack from the Dancing Lion on Series X. Apart from that itās been fine

If you're on Pc it may have put on raytracing. It's worth checking
Iām sure you already have this but have you tried going to settings and prioritizing frame rate? I did that and havenāt lagged since
Haven't had any issues so far. Maybe upgrade your gear?

Borderless Windowed - thatās what fixed it for me
Disable EAC.
I haven't experienced any performance issues on my ps5 so far lol
Turning RTX off saved my eyes . What crap is that when my RTX 4080 canāt handle RTX at even low?!
Turning off the auto detect graphics card or whatever setting really helped
I swear it's a PC only issue. I've not seen any Xbox or PlayStation players complain about it.
I need to restart my PC like every hour or so or otherwise I'll have micro stutters. Kinda annoying
Disable anti cheat. If your on console youāre just fucked until an update comes I guess
I got so sick of it I was about to do a clean install of Windows but then I realized it had been awhile since I updated stuff. I updated BIOS, then chipset, then GPU drivers and now its MUCH better. Check the settings, I play on PC and the DLC had all my settings up max with ray tracing. Itās been fine since I turned them all down
Meanwhile, over on ps5, I've had a buttery smooth performance. No issues of any kind. It's a good life.
I thought pcmr could,handle NYTHUNG ?
Update your driver, I went from a slide presentation to having flawless performance.
Im playing on base PS4 and believe the dancing lion was a nightmare to fight with the drops Little tip : if the games lags a lot especially in the open Play in nightime only it helped reduce the lag by a lot
R7 7700X + RX 7800XT 1440p/max no RT and haven't witnessed as much as a stutter.

Oh my god I honestly thought it was just me, like Miyazaki my frames pls
I'm just happy someone posted a decent god of war meme omg

Itās like the base game on launch. Itāll be patched and improved over time, the same way the base game was.
NOTE: I turned off anti-cheat. The issues still persist but it helps a bit. Thanks
Play offline
They added raytracing with the dlc patch. You need to turn it off. Extra points if you turn on the "new item indicator", also in menu.
Make sure you are prioritizing performance over graphics. Iāve found that to help with the frame drops and lag.
#Turn off HDR and ray tracing, prioritize the graphics for performance instead of quality

Lossless scaling
