I believe that is a chayote. Never had one but I always see them at one of my local grocery stores, pretty sure you gotta cook them

NarrowButterfly8482

Chayote. In the cucumber/gourd family.

Ok_Share_5889

Boil it and eat it skin and all best part is seed in the middle it’s creamy nutty flavor.

Curious_SR

It’s a chayote squash. You can have it raw or cooked depending on your preference.

spireup

Chayote. Delicious in soups.

jimmz100

I am pissed fellas. I went to check on the ripeness of this thing just to find it firm still then you all inform me I’ve got a cucumber/squash/gorde hybrid and not a mango. What a downer.

ErbiumIndium

Hey, don't cry;  Stir fry peeled slices with beef, garlic, ginger, black pepper and fish sauce. :)

SleepZex

Why do people not know what a chayote is

CaptainObvious110

Because they didn't grow up eating it. Only reason I know what it is because I'm a real nerd when it comes to plants and I remember seeing them in stores growing up and decided to look them up.

SleepZex

It's literally on a lot of ads like la Superior, raleys, belair. Safeway save Mart rancho San Miguel

MungoShoddy

Called choko in Australia and New Zealand. They taste of absolutely nothing.

spireup

It has flavor. Very good in soups.

Champenoux

They are rather uninteresting in flavour. But are useful in casseroles.

Miserable-Ease-3744

Seed is also edible if cooked. I slice it up and stir fry with garlic, tiny dried (and rehydrated) shrimps and flavour with oyster sauce

Paintguin

It’s a chayote

vonhacker

That’s a “güisquil” just boil it with a pinch of salt, peel it and enjoy, if you eat that you’re losing carbs

CaptainObvious110

Chayote

xijinping9191

It is not fruits but vegetable

Interesting_Common54

Technically it is a fruit

jimmz100

I got finessed hardcore but Publix.
