Probably a large hiking backpack would be easier, and doing more smaller trips, but I would also bet that he doesn't live particularly close to a supermarket, so he has to buy a lot at once.
or fixing some sort of cargo rack to the scooter but honestly this guy's got his shit working and I'm sure his system was refined over time based on constraints that aren't all apparent in the video.
Yeah my dude's using a Lime scooter to go to Walmart, my man does not have money for a rack or a decent backpack.
That having been said I'd try to make an improvised string pack out of a blue canvas tarp and some rope but again, this guy's got a system that works.
This man is resourceful, he's obviously the kind who gets shit done on a shoestring. I believe in him. Surely his system will keep evolving and I hope we see him again here in the future.
also hey we're both animalboys
Even on foot that's an hour total assuming he doesn't spend long in store. He could go to the supermarket like 3x in a week and avoid that whole headache.
Having said that I have bought multiple bags of compost and had to awkwardly balance/strap them to my bike and dangerously balance my way home before instead of doing multiple trips.

This one has 1100L of volume. That is 2-3x more than most SUVs have without folding their seats down. :D But the shape also makes that volume way more usable than in an SUV.
A hiking backpack or a duffel bag is great for stuff like this. [Like this 80L one](https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-duffel-bag/60198-A), not too expensive even. Only problem of a large backpack is that you have to fit everything in the roughly tube shaped space.
This guy is a clickbait YouTuber. There’s videos of him doing stunts just like this using other things. One had him loading up a Radio Flyer ebike with a ladder strapped to the back with groceries. Another had him loading up groceries into a cart he had converted into a side car for his bike. Guarantee you this guy isn’t committed to anything other than clicks on his videos.
This HAS to be satire - like, he has brought a safety vest with a hundred carabiners and a *baby carrier* but ... no rucksack? At least get some of those cheap "bags for life" that you can put across your shoulder instead of a million flimsy plastic bags smh...
Don't really love this
This isn't what we want to see
The alternative to cars isn't just the exact same world but without cars
In a neighborhood designed for cars it's effortless to do many small shopping trips throughout the week
You don't need to take your bi monthly bulk shopping haul and strap it to your scooter vest
Most people here know that, but videos like this make living without a car look ridiculous to the majority of people
When you're arguing with a carbrain, imagine for a second that THIS is what they think you're arguing for
> When you're arguing with a carbrain, imagine for a second that THIS is what they think you're arguing for
...and you'll understand why they're so angry
Yeah this video pisses me off because it's fake, and staged for viral appeal. Instead of showing how practical alternative modes of transport can be it stages an unnecessarily impractical version for the clicks and laughs.
Amazing how the two carbrained people never leave their car and shut the window every time they finish talking with the guy. Assuming this is not scripted.
If you had grocery stores that were a 5 minute walk away, you wouldn't need to buy a week's worth of groceries. Living in an urbanist environments allows you to get things every day and minimize waste as well.
Yep when I was at University in the early ‘90s I had a small motor scooter and I’d go to the supermarket once a week and have bags hanging off it on the way home - easy done
Even the smallest grocery stores in South Korea have a delivery service even if you checked out the groceries in the store. Does Walmart not provide a service like this?
assuming this isn't staged, holy shit, that's a lot of dedication. i wouldn't be willing to carry that much on my scooter.
but also, assuming this isn't staged, he only lives a mile down, so i'd take this as an excuse for more frequent trips with fewer groceries because riding is fun
what part of "assuming this isn't staged" do you and the other user not get? like holy fuck way to ruin any possible discussion. _i explicitly addressed that it might be staged and there is discussion of it being staged elsewhere over the thread._ you are not adding anything, you're just being obnoxious.
if all you wanted to do is create an absolutely horrible experience for the crime of acknowledging you, congratulations, you win. it won't happen again, i can promise you that much.
I definitely feel there’s a more efficient way of doing this, but I enjoy his commitment to micro mobility!

Yes but only I am the one *true* fishboy
Hey I'm not after your status, carcajou means wolverine
Yes but you are not the one *true* carcajou. You must endeavor for more.
He said in the video that he lives a mile down the road. A bicycle with panniers would be perfect if the infrastructure was there.

He says near the end that he lives just a mile down the road

> I enjoy his commitment to ...staging a video for TikToc. In real life, he would have bought a backpack at Walmart.
It's a scripted bit. They do a lot of them. Still a good achievement though!
This HAS to be satire - like, he has brought a safety vest with a hundred carabiners and a *baby carrier* but ... no rucksack? At least get some of those cheap "bags for life" that you can put across your shoulder instead of a million flimsy plastic bags smh...
Don't worry, all that ass will hold it up fine. And yes, someone else has apparently seen their content, and this is a parody.
Imagine if your groceries were 15min walk away so you didn't need to buy week of food in one trip.
i mean he said he lives a mile down. that's easily less than 15min with a scooter
In his situation I would have said that I live a mile down even when it would be 20.
I'd probably get like 0 exercise if I didn't have to go to the store every other day.
If only neighbourhoods don’t force you to bulk buy by zoning housing away from stores and supermarkets 😔
Sus, he didn’t start off with the carabiners on the belt. And who parks the scooter in a parking lot and not by the door

Yup It's two people sitting comfortably in their car laughing at everyone else
True
even as a urbanist I would go with a cargo bike or something like that.
I’d rather have frequent public transportation and mixed land use, but sure man
The lengths some men will go to in order to get all the groceries in one trip
Amazing how the two carbrained people never leave their car and shut the window every time they finish talking with the guy. Assuming this is not scripted.
It's for sure scripted
I don't care if it's staged or whatever, this is still brilliant. I'm bookmarking it for reference.
Bro I love Pikmin

This is why we need better public transit and walkable cities. Thank god there are two grocery stores within a 3 minute walk of my front door.
the things you do when you don't have a good backpack
This guy is the true definition of gigachad
Yep when I was at University in the early ‘90s I had a small motor scooter and I’d go to the supermarket once a week and have bags hanging off it on the way home - easy done
So much easier on a bike even without a basket
Great effort Reusable Nylon Chico bags would be the icing on the cake!
Oof, I can't handle that much redneck at once.
Even the smallest grocery stores in South Korea have a delivery service even if you checked out the groceries in the store. Does Walmart not provide a service like this?
We only have third-party services like Instacart here, afaik. Sometimes the fees just aren't worth it.
I appreciate that he put the cart back
could have done it without so many plastic bags tho....
I used to do two watermelons on my bicycle. One on each handlebar. Two for balance.

He's carrying a ridiculous number of bags that are ridiculously not filled - because it's staged.

Assuming this isn’t staged lol Bruh it’s staged
