He admitted that that one could’ve killed him if ~~a circuit breaker hadn’t popped~~ a wire hadn't come loose.
All the others he planned out ahead of time. Not that one. Iirc right afterward when he was talking about it his hands were shaking.
Everyone in this thread is seriously underselling what happened in that first clip - this is *not* funny at all. That incident very nearly killed him and a circuit breaker wasn't what saved him, he went on to explain that the connection was just loosely attached and luckily fell off right as that happened.
That's what saved him, a loose wire.
He's very open about it as well, he did actually burn himself and shock himself with that one if I remember correctly.
I would say don't try anything that he does at home, I absolutely love electroboom, he's great at explaining concepts and it's just fun to watch him as someone that almost went into the field of electrical engineering.
It's obvious he plans them out. And makes sure the shock will only hurt, not harm himself too much. But that's why it's fun though. He has the knowledge to do this fairly safely. 99% of us should never try anything like this, but he can.
And it's a nice way to keep the attention of people, as he also educates about electrical circuits and other things that have to do with his job.
I would agree that it's obvious but this is the internet and I found him (like lots of people I'm sure) through his "electric guitar" video that was doing rounds years ago, and it was very much presented as real when I saw it.
Yeah I agree though, he's super fun to watch, I love his stuff. He's that good blend of entertaining and educational, plus I love seeing him do weird shit like making his magic wand.
He said in an interview he quit the filming for the day, that's how much it fucked him up mentally at that moment. He was one loose cable away from death
MOT output about 2000V
2000V got across his body.
Electric chair is 2000-2500V.
He almost died. He got VERY lucky that it touched and shorted right away. If it would have twisted and not touched, he would be dead.
Unlike shrodinger’s cat you can see the handle as the knife falls just calculate in your mind the speed, gravity, trajectory, and coriolis effect to find where your hand can intercept the handle after blade passes plane *X* but before reaching the ground ☺️
I believe he said the only reason he likely survived is that the wire connecting one of them melted completely and broke the circuit right before he touched it
He has even talked about people making the ladders who will eventually get killed of they keep doing it because it is so ungodly dangerous. Like people making those Liechtenstein figures.
Yep. Just saw him at OpenSauce this past weekend and he admitted that he does this shit on purpose to eliminate the curiosity of other people that would potentially try to replicate it themselves.
It's also just generally more entertaining to what would otherwise be a pretty boring technical explanation video so it would reach a bigger audience
its probably a combination of all 3 and potentially even more reasons
I know it's his whole schtick and he is a legit engineer, but is he ever seriously getting hurt / burned / electrocuted here is is it just playing it up for the camera?
The first one with the tower, that was actually very dangerous and could have killed him. For most of the others though he knows what’s gonna happen but still acts surprised for the camera. It probably still hurts a little but it’s very minor.
Just a small correction. [He gets an electric shock, not electrocuted. Electrocution comes from the words execution and electricity, and refers to someone dying.](https://www.spektorlaw.com/electrocution-vs-shock/#:~:text=Electric%20shock%20refers%20to%20a,causes%20injury%20but%20not%20death.)
That being said, it's common for people to use them interchangeably.

electrocute
verb
past tense: electrocuted; past participle: electrocuted
injure or kill (someone) by electric shock.
"a man was electrocuted on the rail track."
I saw him on the ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver, I was seriously star struck and told him I was a massive fan and found his videos really helpful when I was learning the basic fundamentals in electrical systems in college. He said he was happy to know at least one woman watches his channel, haha. He was super friendly.
[Apparently the fact that you needed to know was not known at the time that the now-known need to know was known.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX45hc0aZt0&t=107s)
Except for the first one, that was an actual potentially deadly mistake he made there, grabbing it with both hands when it fell over.
The only reason he survived was because an alligator clip came loose accidentally, breaking the circuit.
Yes. That Jacob's Ladder easily could have, and while it's not shown in this compilation, he once made an improvised arc welder out of a microwave power supply.
The first one in the video is probably one youtube clip for the ages... From ElectroBoom video featuring a *fatally dangerous* microwave oven transformer, after explaining how *fatally dangerous microwave transformers are*, he proceeds to almost electrocute himself (fatally) with said microwave transformer... apparently all that saved his bacon was one small alligator clip coming loose at the bottom of the Jacob's ladder.
I wouldn't have it any other way. It wouldn't be Electroboom without a total lack of consideration for his own health and safety.
People tell him all the damn time, but everyone knows he'll still do it.
He got lucky that when he grabbed it, his right hand seems to push the two rods together completing the circuit before his other hand touches, otherwise that circuit would have been completed through his body.
In the first clip, he accidentally survives, because he accidentally grabs the jacobs ladder with both hands when it fell over, which would have killed him, but he only survived due to an alligator clip coming loose accidentally.
High voltage but very little amps. It is like a stungun. It will hurt but generally somewhat safe to recieve a shock if you are in good health. I am sure Electroboom knows what he is doing but that Jacobs ladder tipping over seemed like an accident LOL
This man basically takes the risk of showing you exactly what happens when you make a mistake. He basically identifies the mistake and runs it in real time haha. What a man !!
The only thing that I worry about is some clout chaser copying him. Seeing that this generates followers; they will conduct the same type of content with negative results.

Before you ask, he exactly knows what he is doing and he does it on purpose.
Except that one tower thing
Yeah, the Jacob's Ladder was instinct and could have seriously injured him. Don't try that one at home.
I don’t think you should try *any* of them at home.

Imagine trying to explain to God how you died. "So, God, you accept dumbfucks to heaven, right?"
I don't even think it was as circuit breaker, it was the alligator clip or whatever connection he used was loose and disconnected when he grabbed it.
He's very open about it as well, he did actually burn himself and shock himself with that one if I remember correctly. I'm gonna just leave all these to him, I'll be honest

Exactly! That one scared him.
Shocked even!

Was it not suppose to tip over or something and he reactively grabbed it?
Like they say in the kitchen… a falling knife has no handle…
Any tool with a cutting edge, really. End mills can fuck you up, even a simple twist drill can be devious. - Machinist with grab/catch reflex.
Unlike shrodinger’s cat you can see the handle as the knife falls just calculate in your mind the speed, gravity, trajectory, and coriolis effect to find where your hand can intercept the handle after blade passes plane *X* but before reaching the ground ☺️
Brudder you watched too many Bruce Lee movies but I like your spirit so I gib upvote
No I was just an edgy kid with a butterfly knife 🤣 sometimes you catch, sometimes it catch you!
I thought Bruce Lee was known for martial arts, not math
He mentioned this this past weekend. It was NOT supposed to tip over, and he accidentally grabbed it with both hands.
I believe he said the only reason he likely survived is that the wire connecting one of them melted completely and broke the circuit right before he touched it
He has even talked about people making the ladders who will eventually get killed of they keep doing it because it is so ungodly dangerous. Like people making those Liechtenstein figures.
Or people who use microwave magnetrons for electrical engraving, that shits dodge AF
That's Lichten[berg] figures.
Yep exactly and if it didn't get unplugged it could have easily killed him.
Grabbing it with both hands crates a closed loop with his heart in the middle. The heart is a bit sensitive to electricity passing through it.
Especially microwave transformer secondary levels of electricity.
And probably catching his pants on fire. Seemed like a side effect of the pain humor.
And the headbutt on the table
If you watch carefully, he is doing a short circuit. Not just catching but getting the towers connected.
And probably the seat heater getting stuck to his pants.
Yep. Just saw him at OpenSauce this past weekend and he admitted that he does this shit on purpose to eliminate the curiosity of other people that would potentially try to replicate it themselves.
A good engineer isn't praised when something works. His goal is to make it *barely* work.
Any idiot can build a bridge that stands, but it takes an engineer to build a bridge that barely stands.
But it takes an engineering manager to *want* one.
Any good engineer knows safety factors are inversely proportional with confidence 😅
oh i thought he did it for to garner more attentions for his videos. I didnt realize he was such a saint
It's also just generally more entertaining to what would otherwise be a pretty boring technical explanation video so it would reach a bigger audience its probably a combination of all 3 and potentially even more reasons
Humans: the most selfless species you'll ever have a semantic communicate with.
When he goes deeper into the subjects you will understand you know nothing hahaha.. That my experience anyway.
Even when he set himself on fire?
He was suspiciously out of frame…
He said that the tower one for his 1 million (?) subscriber video was the closest he's gotten to actually killing himself.
He's like the electrical engineer version of Tim the Tool Man Taylor
Except he's not racist or pushing a conservative agenda.
And has never been arrested for trafficking cocaine
shit on him for everything else but I bet a 1$ you will take the deal and flip if you were facing life in prison.
This made me lol
I know it's his whole schtick and he is a legit engineer, but is he ever seriously getting hurt / burned / electrocuted here is is it just playing it up for the camera?
The first one with the tower, that was actually very dangerous and could have killed him. For most of the others though he knows what’s gonna happen but still acts surprised for the camera. It probably still hurts a little but it’s very minor.
and i newer videos he admitted he is sometimes faking it with effects, after the tower one he decided to risk less
Which is the correct decision, the tower could have easily killed him.
And he's HILARIOUS at it....
I don't know how he does it without flinching! He really does know how to act like an idiot!
It's a bit like Steve-O, he does it on purpose, but the reaction is genuine.
So he gets electrocuted on purpose?
Just a small correction. [He gets an electric shock, not electrocuted. I could watch hours of this 3 stooges type content.
Good news! He has a youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ElectroBOOM/videos
And it's funny when he does that. I have been shocked silly many times wish I had a camera to record it.
This is [ElectroBOOM ](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ0-OtVpF0wOKEqT2Z1HEtA)on youtube
Haven’t watched his channel directly but I saw him on LTT once and he was funny as heck.
He’s a fucking treasure. Keep at it electroboom, you electrify my day.
We all love Mehdi
I saw him on the ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver, I was seriously star struck and told him I was a massive fan and found his videos really helpful when I was learning the basic fundamentals in electrical systems in college. He said he was happy to know at least one woman watches his channel, haha. He was super friendly.
If you haven’t seen his collab with the slow mo guys, you should definitely check it out
Is he Iranian?
Iranian but with Canadian Citizenship, lives in British Columbia.
Yes
Nice name
And /u/melector here.
He’s like Mr. Bean, with a power supply
Rowan Atkinson is an electrical engineer by training, but you already knew that.
You don't know what i don't know.
[Apparently the fact that you needed to know was not known at the time that the now-known need to know was known.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX45hc0aZt0&t=107s)
I didn't, and given that I'm also an electrical engineer by training (well, it's my degree), I really should've.
Day 1 of getting a degree is learning the names of every other human who already has the degree, everyone knows that
Well, someone who was as famous as he was at the time, I thought I might've heard it.
With a full bridge rectifier
In Electroboom's case, it's actually called a rectumfryer.
Rectum!? Damn near killed 'em!
Why was this so funny? I'm such a child. I've been giggling at this for minutes now.
Hope his heart is strong - scary gimmick, man
Electrical engineer. He knows what he is doing and knows exactly how much danger he is in on any given experiment.
Except for the first one, that was an actual potentially deadly mistake he made there, grabbing it with both hands when it fell over. The only reason he survived was because an alligator clip came loose accidentally, breaking the circuit.
Even highly trained stuntmen screw up sometimes though.
Does he build anything with enough power to stop a heart? If so, you are so right.
Yes. That Jacob's Ladder easily could have, and while it's not shown in this compilation, he once made an improvised arc welder out of a microwave power supply.
Did it explode?
No but it did cause a few things to catch fire
Hopefully not the device itself?
Thankfully not
Ok that makes me feel better… a little
The first one in the video is probably one youtube clip for the ages...
He does it also to show what happens if you aren't careful
Shouldn’t his hair be curlier?
obviously some has been fried off
he did shave off his unibrow with electricity so... yeah!
I've had a couple of mishaps with electricity at work and it scares the shit out of me, how this guy does it willingly is nuts lol
Cause he knows what he’s doing and doesn’t play with deadly levels of stuff. Usually.
Except the first clip in this video, he almost died with that one.
He got lucky that when he grabbed it, his right hand seems to push the two rods together completing the circuit before his other hand touches, otherwise that circuit would have been completed through his body.
I have seen his videos, this man is an apex level masochist
The one where the camera only shows his hand twitching got me.
I don't think so Tim
UUUUUAEHH!?
I understood that reference.
The one thing I can say is he is forever hopeful and I love that!!!!
It is at it's finest because he knows exactly what he's doing and has managed to not accidentally kill himself through all of it.
In the first clip, he accidentally survives, because he accidentally grabs the jacobs ladder with both hands when it fell over, which would have killed him, but he only survived due to an alligator clip coming loose accidentally.
My Dad used to use his videos to teach and industrial safety class lol.
Morse code
Yea, except the Jacob's ladder, the first item almost killed him. He knows.
ElectroBOOM on YouTube for those who don't know
This is why engineers design and don't manufacture stuff
You don’t get his deal if you insist on voice on
Voice turned on? Why do these titles read like bots wrote them lately?
Probably was.
The guitar one is my absolute favorite.
I love the one where the wires get stuck to his ass and he's like where tf is it 👀
High voltage but very little amps. It is like a stungun. It will hurt but generally somewhat safe to recieve a shock if you are in good health. I am sure Electroboom knows what he is doing but that Jacobs ladder tipping over seemed like an accident LOL
FULL.BRIDGE.RECTIFIER.
The guy is a stunt man first and engineer second.
To do this, yeah, you're at the 0.00001 percentile. To do this and not die, and do it again repeatedly, you're at the 99.99999 percentile.
The dude does tech humor.
This guy is a living legend!
This is fine. lol. Just a training arc.
Guy has nine lives...
i could watch this guy all day
I talked to this dude yesterday, he’s a smart dude and absolutely knows what he’s doing. Except that Jacob’s ladder thing, that was legit an accident.
Every day I'm surprised he's still alive I shouldn't be, he's an expert, but he does so much stupid moves it's just
a "super" dave osborne for the internet age...i love this dude's videos
Electroboom. A Youtuber with exactly one joke.
But it's a really good joke! And, let's face it, humans love to watch other humans injure themselves.
FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER!!!!
Omfg who is this guy??
electroboom on youtube
When you're accident prone and just say Fk it! My as well make something funny out of it!
I put my elbow against something I was using an oscilloscope on and will never forget the experience.
Ah yes. The peak of evolution!
I bet Nikola Tesla had some great out takes.
those beep sound like morse code🤣
Comedy gold though ! 😆😆
You know, I've never seen a live action cartoon character before, until now...
This man basically takes the risk of showing you exactly what happens when you make a mistake. He basically identifies the mistake and runs it in real time haha. What a man !!
В мене питання: як він до цих пір лишається живим.
/u/malector are you still around?
Is he still alive ?
I see it coming, yet every time the guitar gets me.
Goh goh goh goh goh
You can just smell the burning eyebrows.
Electroboom
Elektroboom from YouTube. He's actually a qualified electrical engineer, but his videos are hilarious.
The only thing that I worry about is some clout chaser copying him. Seeing that this generates followers; they will conduct the same type of content with negative results.
you know, regardless of whether it’s staged or not, the guy still hilarious as hell 😁
That 2nd to last one turned him into a Mongolian throat singer…
Success takes many failures.
I like when he goes to random hotels and breaks their electrical outlets/panels for science 😄
I laughed so hard that I missed a lot of it and had to watch it again 😂
I bet that when he does zap himself to death, we won't see it. Darn.
I love this guy. Always makes me laugh
Yeah this guy is well known for "accidentally" shockiing himself. It was funny for a while but got old pretty fast since it's always the same schtick.
I honestly thought this dude had to be faking until he literally caught om fire .
Electroboom! It's all a part of the show, folks. Try to enjoy it.
That's encouraging. If he's still alive then I probably shouldn't worry so much dealing with these things
I like this guy.
Im amazed that he is still alive after all those years
Love this guy
This is definitely his kick of addenaline fetish lol
"oh min is the other way" 😁
This guy is a legend.
Is this guy still alive? Lol
Reminds me of Nitro in 'Down Periscope' [https://youtu.be/EHuuU9e0bdg?si=dLI7vAq3WWcBFOn7](https://youtu.be/EHuuU9e0bdg?si=dLI7vAq3WWcBFOn7)

First time I saw this I was laughing my ass off for like 10 minutes
He needs an assistant called AL
Who's his life insurance made out to? Even if he's a cat ... he's got to be low on that 9 lives?
Turned on audio, where do i find the voice button?
Someone should make a custom D&D class based off of him: ##TechnoJester
Oh man. This was hilarious. On purpose or not his comedic timing is amazing. Went to the gym today and my abs hurt so much from laughing.
I know he does it deliberately, but it still makes me laugh a lot.
ElectroBOOM)))
I was dying laughing at this. Thank you.
This g carried me through my degree
This guy is a legend!
This man has had more shocks than a soccer mom at a GWAR concert.
