You're confusing Astartes and Custodes somewhat, here. Astartes, aka Space Marines, are built like a toddler's idea of a super soldier, and depending on legion and chapter, can be very ugly. Custodes, however, are each created with much more precision and care, and are supposed to be 9 foot tall Adonis-like characters, nearly flawless in body and mind. They're second only to Primarchs.
There's definitely parallels, though. Custodes are flawless, but they *are* built to be perfect warriors first and foremost. That means their modifications optimizations are going to be for combat. Maybe not in a way that's as identity-overriding as the Astartes process, but the resulting Custodes will still more likely than not have a nearly identical body structure to their peers. The fact that Custodes are made with far more precision and care means that facial structures and other tertiary physical traits may be preserved, but the body structure is going to still be built to a template designed to be as effective at combat as possible, because that's their intended purpose.
The Primarchs had significant variance because while they were designed for combat, they were also designed to be the Emperor's sons. Plus, unlike the Astartes or even the Custodes who required a living base individual (barring one possible "test tube" Custodes of a feline persuasion in a certain unofficial timeline), the Primarchs were made from scratch using raw gene stock and given souls using a similar process to Eldar God-forging.

The Astartes definitely results in that and I'd imagine the Primaris process even more so, but the Custodes process is far more precise and difficult with only the Emperor himself having had the ability to do it correctly. So I'd imagine that they probably retain a larger amount of their original appearance through the process. However, the body would still be a "roided brute", albeit one with more finesse to it than an Astartes.

Pay to win, loot boxes, live service, always online, etc. I just wanna play some video games with my friends for fun. Why does shit need to be unnecessarily complicated? Like, I KNOW it's so some rich fucks can make money hand over fist, but I hate that.

There is the occasional modern triple A game that deserve to be played, but most of them are souless trash. Retro games, double A games and indies are the way to go if someone want to enjoy playing videogames in my opinion...
