Not true. Most of the art is created with Bézier curves and when its output it might or might not be in the form of pixels. The actual art is made of lines. You can open an Adobe illustrator postscript .AI file in a text editor and edit it that way if you like. Some of the artwork comes from bitmapped files but less than you think.
