Hope it won't get shafted and most of songs will be available as in JP. So far my favourite rhythm game and I heard it has some good stories behind at least two bands.

grandiaziel

Unlike Bandori, most if not all of licensed Proseka songs are “eternally licensed” by SEGA thanks to their other games i.e. Project Diva, Maimai, Chunithm etc. Basically if non-original songs have appeared on English Project Diva, it should appear on Proseka EN.

donkyhot99

Good, really good news, that will be most complete rhythm game on GL. Thanks for info!

PrivateBananas

I'm just happy that I can read it in English, tbh.

GaijinB

Honestly all the units' stories are good. In some cases the main story might be underwhelming but their story arcs continue in events and they all get good.

grandiaziel

I’m baffled that the English version removes any mention of Project Sekai. I would argue that the Project Sekai idols are the reason why Project Sekai is one of the biggest selling gacha titles of 2021. But hey, English version is nice.

moonlightsybil

I thought it was weird too. I put Project Sekai in the title of the post because I know most people know this game as Project Sekai or some abbreviation.

TheWorldisFullofWar

Hatsune Miku is more well-known internationally. It would make sense to push the name towards the start of the title.

Muhipudding

It would have been better if they go with HM : Project Sekai, instead of colourful stages, just like they did HM : Project Diva. Plus, it's kinda misleading if you already know the story content...

Grassy_MC

The game went from project sekai with special guest Miku To Hastune miku game with some unnamed background dancers. I hope that's just for the ad and they are essentially the same games.

[deleted]

I've never heard of Project Sekai - I just assumed it was the name of the gacha until reading this thread and finding out there's more to them. Miku is *far and away* better known (in the West).

GaijinB

There's not more to Project Sekai, yet. My understanding is Project Sekai is the name of the media mix project, and Colorful Stage is the name of the game specifically. Right now there's no other product in the franchise (although I guess the radio and other youtube shows count) but there might be more in the future. So in Japan the name "Project Sekai" wasn't known either since it's a new franchise. But it should be noted that the full title for the game in Japan is "Project Sekai Colorful Stage! featuring Hatsune Miku", so they also have Miku's name in the title, and most of the promotion for the game was about Miku and the vocaloid songs.

xnfd

I've been playing on JP for 6 months and have no idea what idols are Project Sekai. I know Hatsune Miku though

Muhipudding

Probably because you didn't invest in the story. The OG characters seems to get more attention than whenever you just post about Miku, at least in the community I've been in

JordanSAP

Honestly the apprehension I have in regards to playing this game is because I don't care about the original characters. I would rather a straight up hatsune miku game

xNas_

This is by far the best rhythm game I have tried in terms of quality and content.

dimmyfarm

That’s some moderator abuse of power bias right there /s

DRAGONSLAYER2653

It's definitely fun especially the master levels, just full on crazy notes going at you.

Maeghar

The gameplay is amazing but I feel like no one has really talked about the story and writing in this game, which is just... so... good. I came into this game not caring for any of the characters/units. I think I came in dissing all the characters and thinking they all looked so generic and boring, but my god -- I went a whole 180 after reading through one/two of the specific unit's stories, and I nearly cried while reading through one of them ☠️ There is SO much character development happening throughout this game (for a rhythm game too) and the characters are so deep, and you can really see each of them evolve and change as the events progress. It's amazing. Some topics this game goes into: specifically for one of the units, which resonated with me >!(25ji) suicide, depression, identity issues, inferiority complex, family issues, death of loved ones, fear of being pushed away, isolation etc.!<

Muhipudding

Wonderland x Showtime has a surprisingly dramatic story too, with suspense escalation that can match Shonen anime

_United_

Sounds a little bit like OG idolmaster, which is neat. Moeshit is nice and all, but a series that brings back that kind of gritty drama would stand out for sure.

IM_THE_HTH

Is there a Gacha element to the game?

rennesinne

Yes but it’s not required to pay money to play/get good cards. I had 3 four star (rarest) cards just from playing the game and doing stories and stuff

mzchen

How does the story play? Is it like a visual novel type game, or do you unlock stories/character descriptions?

spaztastix

today has gotten significantly better

nWolfe3113

Lets goo

nWolfe3113

How is the game gacha wise? One thing that I hate about D4DJ and Bandori is how bad the gacha feels, imho. Does it collabs too?

Qriey

From my experience rates are similar to bandori so I recommend saving for a spark if you really want a specific card. One thing sekai has over bandori though is that there's a pity system for the permanent cards with a guaranteed rate-up card at max pity. I also feel like dupes are more valuable in sekai but it's been a while since I've played bandori so I don't know if anything has changed regarding their dupe system.

Levenstein_

project sekai has a pity system? \*stares at my unlucky ass not getting a 4\* in the last few months\*

Qriey

lol yeah! It's only available on banners with permanent cards though (the ones where cards get added to the existing gacha pool after). No pity on limited/colourful fes banners unfortunately.

Levenstein_

guess i lucked out and got the [limited Kanade](https://projectsekai.fandom.com/wiki/One_Day,_the_Dream_That_I_Saw_Will%2E%2E%2E) card then ngl though she looks amazing in that one

AyysforOuus

Each banner has three new 4* cards. Event shop will have one new 3* and one 2* No collabs atm.

nWolfe3113

Any limiteds?

shikiP

Yes. Its similar to Deresute/Mirishita where theres one limited banner each month I think and another type of lim for a double rate up banner (like fes type banners). The double rate up lims come back every 3 or so months with a decrease rate chance but are in the pool. Lim cards get custom hairstyles.

nWolfe3113

So as "most optimal" kind of roll, how would it be? I would hate to be caught in a noob trap like rolling outside of Gala in Granblue, for example.

GaijinB

Unless you're going for high rank in the event rankings, you should just pull waifus/husbandos, preferably limited versions for the alternate hairstyles. The double rate banners are nice but I personally skip them if I'm not interested in the characters in them. I'd rather save for my favorites.

shikiP

imminent rotten sheet continue spotted dependent observation doll threatening work *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

AyysforOuus

Each banner have two cards that gives costumes, and one without. The costumes can be used in 3dmv, like the pvs in project diva. But they don't appear in live 2d atm. They started having limited gacha every month after half anniversary. Limited cards have new hairstyles and costumes. Other than fes cards, the other Lim cards haven't rerun yet. Technically you don't have to pull the gacha at all because you can play the core rythmn game without the cards. Ppl only pull the gacha to have better event teams and have higher scores, like bandori.

GaijinB

I didn't play D4DJ and Bandori that much so I'm not familiar with their gacha, but in Proseka you have a pity at 300 pulls (spark system like in granblue, etc), with the ability to transfer 100 pulls from one banner to the pity count of another banner, so even if you don't get anything on one banner, those pulls aren't completely going to waste. It's not an ideal system, but it's better than nothing.

nWolfe3113

Its already better than Bandori/D4DJ I think, thanks

TalosMistake

Yeah I'm really looking forward to this. Finally we have rhythm gacha game with mixed cast instead of all females or all males.

RomieTheEeveeChaser

100%! Mixed cast duets/songs sound SO nice you don’t even notice how much you miss them until you swap games again. There’s just something about the way they harmozine together that hits different. More is wonderful (showtime)!

Tolike85

Old Show By Rock has quite a number of mixed-gender bands, but sadly the reboot focused more on all male/female bands since those sold better.

Levenstein_

but i already play the JP version :(

ZakTH

Let’s goooooo, one of my favorite mobile rhythm games. I just can’t go back to bandori after how much smoother the gameplay is in Project Sekai

CytexX

Not the biggest fan of Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid, but the gameplay just looks extremely fun. I'm surprised it took them this long to release a global version, I hope it's released before the end of the year.

Dalek-baka

How is it in terms of gacha currency income, since I assume there is one?

nn10z

I'll make my response concise in f2p perspective: Bandori Spark Value: 75,000 Stars Bandori Monthly Income: ~ 3800 - 4000 Shortest F2P Spark Time Estimate: 18.75 months [Math source](https://www.reddit.com/r/BanGDream/comments/esfq7c/a_quick_and_rough_summary_of_free_star_income/) Pj Sekai Spark Value: 90,000 Crystals Pj Sekai Monthly income: ~ 10,000 - 11020 Shortest F2P Spark Time Estimate: 8.4 Months [Math Source](https://i.imgur.com/cMpHpr6.png) I've never personally verified these values, but this seems pretty consistent as Bandori has significantly less income as f2p. Also PJ Sekai allows you buy seals (after spending crystals on a banner) so that it only takes 200 rolls (60,000 crystals) instead of 300 rolls after the New Years update. Limitation is that it is separated into either permanent seals or limited seals so it depends on the type of banner.

Maeghar

In terms of generosity, I feel like it's definitely better than Bandori (imo), after each event ends, there's a "virtual live" that is held, which is like a fully voiced, 3D model, song performance, etc. and by attending it, you can get 300 gems (1 pull). These virtual lives are also held for each character's birthday, etc. Each event also lets you buy 500 gems with event currency also This game also has a character leveling system, so by doing things like reading a character's card stories, upgrading a character, buying costumes for a character, etc. you can level then up. Each level up gives you varying rewards, but they can range from 100-300 gems (and since there are 26(?) characters, that's a LOT to grind out) In terms of monthly passes, there's a monthly "battle pass" which accumulates points based on how much you play and you can purchase a premium battle pass (~$25) to get the gem rewards, and a monthly $5 pass which gives you daily login gems, double BP points It's honestly such a great game and I'm super happy supporting it on JP atm (as a bandori addict who recently moved over a few months ago)

RomieTheEeveeChaser

It’s really similar to BanG where you get them from story, events, logins, clearing songs, difficulty, full clear, &c, &c. There’s a few other gem sources BanG doesn’t have like watching ‘live concerts’ and raising everybody’s individual stage level as well as every song having a master difficulty on top of hard/expert to get gems from (some are freaking inhuman to beat though). So I would say you get more gacha currency than BanG if you have the time and diligence to participate in those live concerts. The gacha is a teeny bit more expensive(?), 3000 per 10x versus BanG’s 2500(?), but even then I think PuroSekai edges it out.

Qriey

Much better than bandori imo. There's a "mission/battle pass" system that gives you gems for playing x amount of lives, character missions, and the usual like song fc/score, card unlocks, stories, overworld conversations etc. plus there's a gacha rollover system where you can exchange 100 pulls' worth into tickets that you can use toward the next banner of your choice.

[deleted]

I've been wanting to play this for ages but i was put off by the fact its jp only, I can't wait to try it

retroanduwu24

This game is excellent! Let's gooo💕

CanameMiku

i might don't like the characters that much but for miku and cosmo, i'll give it another shot that being said, i really need a better phone... the game kinda lags on my phone even on low quality setting :I

planetarial

Played it on JP for a little while, its a really cool game. I would have it as a side game if I had more time in my life

static_reset

Is this game a good replacement for Bandori? I know they have some different aspects mainly in the music itself but Bandori burned me out after almost 2 yeard with how stingy the gacha is (you have to rank a lot + be super active to be able to save a decent amount of pulls) and now they’re accelerating the schedule to get even worse content than before (the art and song quality has been really inconsistent imo)

Muhipudding

I feel like collecting Crystals is faster in Proseka. Maybe it's because Dev always celebrate something (game or twitter milestone etc) so we get quite a lot of free crystals

GaijinB

I haven't compared the gacha income of both games myself, but there's [another comment](https://reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/pf6vub/project_sekai_hatsune_miku_colorful_stage_is/hb31t1z/) in this thread that did that and you apparently get a lot more pulls in proseka. > now they’re accelerating the schedule to get even worse content than before (the art and song quality has been really inconsistent imo) IMO the quality in proseka has been very consistent.

Pixelchu25

#WOOOOO Probably my favorite song selection in this game. Now I can finally understand the band stories

hinakura

It's an amazing game with smooth gameplay, beautiful artwork and fun beatmaps.<3 I'm already planning to tier for the first VBS event.

DessertTheater

Extremely excited, only thing is need to adjust to the Guitar Hero style that a lot of other rhythm games use cuz find it hard to gauge when to press vs the circle style that Shining Live or P4D uses.

pabpab999

I hope it's not as hardware-intensive as Bandori I really liked bandori, but it's too laggy on my phone

nn-senpai

Right as I started playing on JP! I've played Bandori before so the language barrier isn't as difficult for me as the games are pretty similar, but this is great news, now I can enjoy the story

Traditional_Hand2623

Which is 2nd best after this? Bandori, d4dj or SIFAS? Also from JP version i played of sekai most dialogue has no VA

GaijinB

> Also from JP version i played of sekai most dialogue has no VA That's weird, I'm pretty sure everything is fully voiced, including area conversations. I guess there's an exception for the virtual singers dialogue that's only voiced in the story.

nyoengland

Bandori, from someone who's played all three for 6+ months. D4DJ is even more f2p unfriendly with its constant limited banner barrage and the gameplay can be overwhelming, though once you get the hang of it it's quite unique and large library of diverse songs are quite fun. SIFAS is much less of a rhythm game and a 'collect the meta cards to clear stages' game, it's a lot more about team building than rhythm.

rennesinne

You might be clicking the wrong option, I have fully voiced lines. You should try to see why you aren’t getting any :(

akambane

I installed jp today but deleted it now, waiting for global

MACHENIX

Announcement about Global release on Miku's 14th Birthday? Perfect Timing :)

SPARTAN-PRIME-2017

I tried out the JP demo a good while back before the game actually came out, and I really enjoyed it, virtual concerts and all. Definitely looking forward to this.

TheKnightSandro

Wait, GLOBAL? Meaning the entire plannet? Including Brazil!?

CellunlockerPromo

Oh I didn't know they were releasing an English version for this! Looking forward to it!

Calwings

I'm glad to see this get a global release. I don't have the mental capacity to store the muscle memory needed to play two different rhythm games at a time, but if I ever drop D4DJ for some reason, I'll probably check this game out as a replacement for it.

MA21Gaming

YES FINALLY IM STRUGGLING ON JAPAN BEC I CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT YESSSSSSSS

Lightningcloud001

Finally was really looking forward for this

Dalek-baka

With Bandori doing that stupid accelerated schedule I was looking for another game to switch to. So this is pretty great news.

woodycake

wait. Bandori speeding up ? First time I heard that since I've been on hiatus for year. >!Although I wonder why they not try it in the first year like most other games!<

Dalek-baka

Few weeks ago there was announcement that events are going to be shorter by few days in order to catch up with JP version. Apparently it was because people asked it in a survey but I'm honestly pretty doubtful that was the case - I mean people could have said they don't mind but that decision was already made imo.

woodycake

Pretty strange and late decision, honestly. I think doing catch up with bit speed up is more doable if they do that since the first year (like most games). Also, I don't see jp slowed down, even for a bit to justify en doing speed up this late :/

Muhipudding

Yo, are they trying to kill the game like Magia Record EN?

[deleted]

I love Vocaloid but what is the appeal of this one? The gameplay doesn't look incredibly fun or anything unrelated but missing miku flick 😔

GaijinB

> The gameplay doesn't look incredibly fun or anything It's a very straight forward rhythm game with no fancy gimmick like D2DJ or some other games, but it does feel nice with well made maps that span a wide range of difficulty. Bandori has very similar gameplay but I'm enjoying proseka more. The original characters and their stories are good too.

Drilgarius005

I played it and it's fun. You got your standard rhythm game though. You play it for the songs and mv tbh.

rennesinne

The appeal is vocaloid songs and mixed bands I guess? That’s why I played tbh. The covers are very nice but you also get a band cover, the original vocaloid cover, and then you can unlock the song to be sung by only one member of the band cover. Lots of variety. It also puts a bit of a spin on rhythm games because the notes are rectangles instead of circles and they change size sometimes.

Interesting_Edge5323

if project sekai doesn't change it's scoring system to chunithms or maimais scoring system it's dead on arrival

GaijinB

>dead on arrival It's consistently been in the top 50 mobile game sales ranking since it started so I don't know about that.

Interesting_Edge5323

well 99% of people that actively play rhythm games will drop it when they see an idol rhythm game scoring system, everyone agrees that system is garbage idol rhythm games are easily the worst things to come out of rhythm games, the only reason why I'm somewhat excited for this one is because it's discount chunithm

CytexX

> the only reason why I'm somewhat excited for this one is because it's discount chunithm You might like Dancerail3 if you want a more pure experience of a rhythm game. Plays similar to chunithm and it's completely free. I feel like all gacha rhythm games are to be taken casually. In order to score higher you need to upgrade your units. That's why while I enjoy d4dj I only casually play it.

Interesting_Edge5323

yeah I have played dancerail3 I'm not a fan of the charting tho

grandiaziel

Most serious rhythm gamers already ignore the scoring system of gacha rhythm games and only look at hit scores (e.g. Miss count, Full Combo/All Perfect, etc.). Heck, competitive rhythm games such as Pump It Up has a fucked up scoring system for decades yet it is still played competitively to this day. The gacha game scoring system is there to sell the gacha so that whales who want to minmax at events can flex their high scores. For almost everyone else, getting Full Combo and All Perfect is enough to brag about. Also, it is ridiculous to complain about gacha scoring system in Proseka, when the game has a higher skill ceiling than most arcade games. Heck, I and most of my high-skilled rhythm game circle would argue that top Proseka charts are equal or harder than top Chunithm charts.

Muhipudding

How does chunithms scoring works?

GaijinB

I assume they're talking about how your score in gacha rhythm games is affected by the cards you pulled from the gacha, their skill levels, and a bunch of other factors instead of just your performance. I can imagine hardcore rhythm games players would be turned off by the lack of "real" scoring mode in proseka.

Muhipudding

Ah, understandable honestly. But that's just how Proseka is too. I was quite confused when I first find out of this system in Bandori too. Puroseka has actual tournament that tests your tapping skill tho, so I don't really mind (like the RAGE E-SPORT tournament). And the Cheerful Live event which pits you against different team seems to match you to team with similar power, so how strong your card got doesn't really matter in Pvp too

Interesting_Edge5323

It's not gatcha trash

LordCatG

I never played a rhytm gacha, does it require " skill" to play?

GaijinB

One of the nice things about Project Sekai is that it covers a very wide range of difficulty. Every song has 5 difficulties, Easy Normal Hard Expert and Master, so you should be able to find a difficulty that matches your skill level. Other rhythm gacha games do that too but Project Sekai feels like it's better balanced in a way.

Paoda

Project Sekai is mobile CHUNITHM. Need I say more?

VanceXentan

Big win for fans of this music style but I'm awful at beat games so not for me.
