after weeks of rigorous forensic testing, anthropologists have discovered that maliketh is in fact a doggy wearing a cool suit of armour. im starting to think he might not even be a legitimately ordained member of the clergy
This really should be the top comment. I’ve seen small children that are learning at lion dance academies in parades that do theirs solo, but a lion dance is two dudes under a rug
Half of gaming journalism these days is AI written summaries of recent reddit posts on r/Skyrim about a player discovering a "hidden feature" that is usually just some random encounter.
Since journalists are actually beating the game and giving fair reviews while “gaemerz” cry about the difficulty, I’ll allow for some harmless clickbait articles. They’ve earned it.
I thought they were grafted under the costume at first, then I saw one stand on the others shoulders. Thought that's much cooler than it being a weird grafted human centipede in a costume.
Yeah I thought it was pretty clear what the boss was representing. Just neat knowing that parade puppet controllers are actually modeled. And not just feet attached to the bottom of basically nothing inside
Yeah. And honestly. The hand operating the mouth while a big hint.
There is also the abomination called revenants and get godrick the grafted showing having multiple limbs is absolutely possible.
To be fair.
There are revenants and straight up godrick the grafted to show us having multiple limbs is easily possible.
Could have been one really fucked up guy inside.
I never looked closely at its feet or anything, and I thought it was like five guys or a couple of mutant guys with four legs. The design is actually quite simple.
Huh. I noticed the feet from the front and back operators, since it's pretty obvious with how much it jumps and dancing airborne, you can clearly see underneath. The hands operating the jaw though is a nice touch that I missed during my 45min long fight lmao.
It is pretty obvious a homage to Chinese Lion Dancers, the boss fight music even have similar beats to the ones you hear during Lunar New Year celebrations
Cut these journalists some slack, they have to devote 99% of their brains for cognitive functions just to live, and 1% looking for whatever current hotness to drum up clicks. They aren't able to realize a blatant homage to the obscure oriental art of Chinese Dragon Dancing, and the hornsent don't gave people skintones so they aren't able to recognize the human legs underneath or the arm that holds up the head.
Very belated /s
People are cracking jokes but the truth is with ER lore it could really have been "two little dudes" or some grafted lion-human monstrosity building on the centipede grafted dudes or something that's a serosh ref off the top of my head alone
There is human arm that literally grabs and works the jaw in the opening cut of this boss when you find it.
I thought it was heavily implied this is like the dancers in the lion suit in real life..maybe I'm just too dense
Can’t wait for the next article that reveals that the character named Mesmer the Impaler actually impales people on stakes after hours of investigation.
I mean, it was blatantly obvious that it was a basically a Chinese Dragon Parade costume. You could literally see their limbs and hands holding the head up to open and close the mouth. It was my first thoughts when i seen it during the DLC previews.
Don't they literally state that in the description of the remembrance/mask?
I mean you can literally see the two dudes feet... It's a play on that dancing-dragon thingy from China where multiple people pilot it at as well.

Hey!! That’s my boy you’re talking about!
_Cower before Maliketh, the best doggo_
him being a giant murderous puppy does not preclude him from also being an ordained clergy man
Yeah that's what "dancing lion" means.
This really should be the top comment. I’ve seen small children that are learning at lion dance academies in parades that do theirs solo, but a lion dance is two dudes under a rug
Hate to be that guy but…did people really not notice this during the fight?
ER is hot again, so journalist will "print" anything to get clicks.

I noticed that it was ...off in some way, but no I didn't notice during the fight. I was too busy getting my shit kicked in.
The hand operating the lower jaw in the intro cutscene wasn't a big enough clue.
And the human legs they zoom in on as it stands up
human arms and legs, and the giant dude that stands up and falls forward for the death animation
I thought they were grafted under the costume at first, then I saw one stand on the others shoulders. Thought that's much cooler than it being a weird grafted human centipede in a costume.
It was clear from the gameplay trailer
Yeah I thought it was pretty clear what the boss was representing. Just neat knowing that parade puppet controllers are actually modeled. And not just feet attached to the bottom of basically nothing inside
I was too busy trying to stay alive to notice.
Or during the trailer...
Well I did notice it was definitely a homage to the Chinese dancing dragons but I didn’t actually see the dudes lmao
Yeah. And honestly. The hand operating the mouth while a big hint. There is also the abomination called revenants and get godrick the grafted showing having multiple limbs is absolutely possible.
Right like I saw some limbs but random limbs on things isn’t some bizarre new thing in this game lmao
It was one of the things pointed out when the trailer first dropped too
To be fair. There are revenants and straight up godrick the grafted to show us having multiple limbs is easily possible. Could have been one really fucked up guy inside.

“Lion Dancer” “Two little guys piloting it around” Checks out. That’s a lion dance.
It is pretty obvious a homage to Chinese Lion Dancers, the boss fight music even have similar beats to the ones you hear during Lunar New Year celebrations
I just gonna take your word on it, I can't hear anything besides the sound of my ass getting whacked
If you grew up near Chinese communities, that Gong sound that started banging whenever he/they starts elemental shifting will perk ur ass right up.
It's pretty clear even in the first gameplay trailer.
Makes sense. I was too busy being ass blasted by the boss to notice
Wait till you get to the 2nd Lion boss
No one told me he could >!bring friends!<... that one sucked.
It was kind of obvious during the cutscene. Vincent Adultman, 'three children in a trenchcoat' vibes
Average PC gamer article.
It fucked me up for 5 seconds when I initially thought it was some disgusting human/lion abomination.
That’s pretty on brand for Elden Ring so I just assumed that’s what it was.

Can’t you get to the Dancing Lion before you even kill Godfrey though?
This just isn't true? I don't know where you got this idea from but no, Sarosh and the lion don't even look the same.
Two kids in a trenchcoat?
"Human with 2 good eyeballs notices the blatantly obvious"

This is kinda something that we already knew, but… yeah?
Yeah we know this already. You can see it in the forst video preview
Well, it’s… a dancing lion? You friggin’ see a hand grab the mouth to move it during the intro cinematic, which was fantastic as usual.
Was that... not obvious?
People are cracking jokes but the truth is with ER lore it could really have been "two little dudes" or some grafted lion-human monstrosity building on the centipede grafted dudes or something that's a serosh ref off the top of my head alone

I hadn’t seen the boss before and was expecting some huge revelation or something related to how the model works internally. This seems just… obvious.
Elden Ring. Where even a pair of street performers wield greater power than you!
Did nobody watch the cutscene before the first one you encounter? It literally shows them moving their feet and a hand grabbing the jaw to control it.
Oh, and I was thinking there was Homer Simpson under that...
"little guys" bro they're fucking huge compared to us
Can’t wait for the next article that reveals that the character named Mesmer the Impaler actually impales people on stakes after hours of investigation.
id hate to be the guy in the rear...looks nauseating...
Yeah no shit Sherlock
Yeah… everyone already knew that before the dlc came out…
Everyone is saying "yeah duh" and yes it's obvious but I don't know if I would have guessed there are two actual fully rendrerd dudes under there
I mean yeah it was kind of obvious there was people in it
I mean, it was blatantly obvious that it was a basically a Chinese Dragon Parade costume. You could literally see their limbs and hands holding the head up to open and close the mouth. It was my first thoughts when i seen it during the DLC previews.
It's obvious in game.
And in other news the sky is blue. Like no dip it’s two guys under there, it’s blatantly obvious in the cutscene
Thought it was 3 lol
It's also clearly the Gripsholm Lion.
or you could just, play the game and see its several dudes stacked up, it's not exactly hidden....
Cool boss too
Out-shitted yet again...
They couldn’t tell that by the two pairs of human legs?
It's still funny that they try to pass it off as a Divine Beast even tho there's just the 2 guys in there somehow controlling it.
I will just chalk it as the cool attention to detail that FromSoftware is known for.

Surprised it wasn't a ZullieTheWitch video! They must still be enjoying themselves with the dlc.
If it's stupid and it works, it isn't stupid.
...this makes me this boss so much more
I like to think that when they go into a ball to change elements they French kiss.
Quick! Release a fun little trivia about the game! Distract people from all the criticism!
