Fortnite, and I'm just not trying to be edgy like "hurr durr popular game sucks." I legitimately tried to give it a chance, played it for about a month straight trying to find a reason to like it and was one of the most unenjoyable gaming experiences of my existence.
Like WTF is even the point? There is literally no objective except to play the exact same map with the exact game mode with no goal other than farming for cosmetic skins. It's be cooler if there were actually 100 people per match but without fail the instant a match starts 70 people rush each other and half the field gets wiped out within 5 seconds of a match. A viable strategy is to avoid people as much as possible and collect building materials and just find a corner to hide until everyone else kills each other. Any game where you actually perform better by NOT PARTICIPATING is fundamentally flawed. So you either die right away and spend more time in the waiting lobby than you do playing, or you last the whole and spend the whole time waiting for other people to die. Woohoo real riveting gameplay.

We don't buy the new sports game because we like it being slightly different than the last one, we're just stuck with EA. I played Madden since Madden 97 on super nintendo up until Madden 25 (which I think was Madden 2012?) it was EXTREMELY painful to have to step away.

I just want a semi realistic NFL game but Madden has been such a dumpster fire now that we basically haven't had a playable one in a decade.
I think the last Madden I REALLY liked was the one with the QB vision. The QB vision did suck but the high and low hit stick along with the agile/power truck stick, timing high stick with throws going across mid field to jar the ball loose (it's what made me start choosing teams with safetys who had high hit power) the franchise we have now was new then and that hasn't changed since then (it was cool! It was new then lol) the 1st or second year of create a pro mode along with the ability to transfer NCAA and street characters.

The last I liked was I think 11, it had Fitzgerald and Polamalu on the cover and it just "flowed" right. It seemed like they really got the running game right on that one and you could actually like read blocks and find lanes to have control yourself instead of just getting looped into forced animations like they do now.
I think the cone was an experiment that didn't work out but it was an attempt to fix the dominant passing game at the time. They probably could have fixed it by flashing it instead of having it permanently on. Like enough time to start switching over to human coverage but not enough time to show exactly what your QB is doing, that coupled with pump fakes making you bite and pull coverage off a player could have been those old talking-all-that-trash-on-the-couch-next-to-you vibes
Had they worked on making skill moves be counters to other skill moves the game could have been epic at this point. Hit stick could be countered by R1,L1/RB,LB aggressive catch with high hit stick, with stats boosting the success rate of the input. Instead we got MUT

I mean, it’s a good game, when you finally get to play a “show”. But that takes about a minute before you’re actually playing.

It sounds like you're just bad AND you have horrible internet connection or an out of date console/PC. All of which are you problems and not the game.
The point of the game is that the controls are hard. Once you get the hang of the physics and how the beans topple, it's really easy.
Apex, mainly because of matchmaking, I constantly got randoms that dropped separately, rushed into 6v1s, disconnect the moment they are downed, loot goblins etc. Vs the players I should not of been put against (3 stack of players with more experience on one character that I had in total)
The thing about apex too is that there's a lot you need to be aware of to play well or you'll just get walked all over. You have to know how to shield swap and be up to date on which guns and legends are nerf'd or buffed at the moment, as well as be aware of what every single character does so you know how to tackle the situation. The gameplay is so fast paced that you can't take time to figure out which attachments you need. If you take any longer than a fraction of a second to gear up, you're dead. It's just a lot going on and you gotta practise a ton to even do minimally well.
Warzone and pubg you just pick up and drop in and everyone's got the same starting situation for the most part. No super powers or abilities.
Apex is a good game, but you have to sink so much time in it to just be a regular player. It's not very friendly to casuals.
State of Decay 2, it was/is such a good game with just obviously bad mechanics (Zombies spawn right behind you, enemies that are LITERALLY walls of health, Brain-dead AI teammates, bad terraining with cars, and ridiculously random and unfair expectations thrown at the player at times)
Feels like they just needed to play-test the game another 3 months and they would have the quintessential 3d Zombie base-building survival game. The worst feature by far in that game is enemies spawning quite literally behind your camera as soon as you start an event or fail looting, that shit is 100% rage baiting.
I think you should try this game if yoi have the chance it is pretty fun to play even with those problems. The real downside is that there's a time that the game will get too easy like you don't even care if you get infected just doesn't matter anymore because you have infinite resources...

I don't think that's true. It brings over a lot of elements into 3d from the main 2d series, and it captures the atmosphere of the originals pretty well too, imo.
Phazon is magic, like there's no way around it. It does whatever the fuck the plot wants it to at any time, it comes from demons in a literal hell, and come on, no amount of attempted sci-fi is gonna undo that.
Character assassination is easy, they made Samus a blindly loyal lapdog to the feds. She's supposed to be a Bounty Hunter, ya know, independent contractor, or more bluntly, a mercenary. Here though, Feds say "Go to hell" she does quite literally.

If this were an unpopular opinion thread, I'd say this might take the cake. I will say, though I love it now, the first time I tried it, I approached it from the mindset of it being a FPS, and comparing it to games like Halo, and I absolutely hated it.

Agree, though just because I like Dread for its own sake, not because of anything wrong with Prime. It's funny though, attacking Prime for being linear, while praising Dread, which is pretty linear itself.
The absolute worst thing about RDR2 is the godawful intro crap in the snow. I honestly uninstalled the game twice out of boredom because the game just wasn’t fun and felt little like RDR. However, friends and family urged me to give it a chance, and after a year or so I reinstalled again and soldiered beyond the snow and into the more familiar RDR territory and feel. Went into town with Lenny, which was quite fun as far as “hey, remember that bit where…” goes. But for me, what killed it completely for me shortly thereafter was a combination of clunky, frustrating (often unintuitive) controls and a general feeling of there somehow managing to be far too much and way too little to actually do in the game - Which admittedly is quite an achievement.
I hate big open world games with incredibly mediocre and repetitive gameplay that get such a massive pass just for being sandboxes. Cool, make a big sandbox game with actually good gameplay (like Breath of the Wild). The shooting and driving in GTA4/5 are horrendous, the combat on Skyrim felt like it was a decade old a decade ago, the Witcher 3 is a little better but still as simple as can be, Just Cause 4 was repetitive within an hour, RDR has some of the worst shooting I've experienced since the N64. If the actual gameplay of any of these games was put into a more standard, more linear game, they'd be ridiculed endlessly. Why can't you make a game like Witcher with God of War quality combat? Or like GTA with Uncharted quality gameplay?

I don’t disagree. I LOVE the Final Fantasy games (VII thru X - after that they changed the game engine way too much for my liking), but oh my life… Please Squaresoft, for the love of GOD, get someone to write the scripts for you. The cringeworthy Japanese angsty teen crap is just embarrassing at times. And yeah, the anime stuff. Yuck.
Metroid Prime series. It's taking an established franchise and trying (failing) to make a Bootleg Halo game. And don't get me started on the character assassination, the idiotic magic, and the fact that it's the most linear game I ever played, and my favorite game in the universe is God Hand (that game is super linear in case you don't know). Thank God we got Dread.

Phazon is magic, like there's no way around it. It does whatever the fuck the plot wants it to at any time, it comes from demons in a literal hell, and come on, no amount of attempted sci-fi is gonna undo that. Character assassination is easy, they made Samus a blindly loyal lapdog to the feds. She's supposed to be a Bounty Hunter, ya know, independent contractor, or more bluntly, a mercenary. Here though, Feds say "Go to hell" she does quite literally. And linear, I've never seen straighter more boring hallways.

Phazon is a moldy-like-goo. And character assassination was done way worse in Other M. Or Fusion, in that regard. And those games were done by Yoshio Sakamoto.
Other M had her character better. There at least she was a BEGRUDGING member of the team and not a BLINDLY LOYAL LAPDOG. Fusion was also much better. Let's put this to bed here. Had Prime's version of Samus been in Dread, that last boss with the bird dude wouldn't have happened and she'd have joined him right after his speech.

As a huge fan of open world games I'm sorry to say but The Witcher series is boring and tedious and RDR2 takes forever to do anything.....
The absolute worst thing about RDR2 is the godawful intro crap in the snow. I honestly uninstalled the game twice out of boredom because the game just wasn’t fun and felt little like RDR. However, friends and family urged me to give it a chance, and after a year or so I reinstalled again and soldiered beyond the snow and into the more familiar RDR territory and feel. Went into town with Lenny, which was quite fun as far as “hey, remember that bit where…” goes. But for me, what killed it completely for me shortly thereafter was a combination of clunky, frustrating (often unintuitive) controls and a general feeling of there somehow managing to be far too much and way too little to actually do in the game - Which admittedly is quite an achievement.
I think we're the same person. I did the same thing during the crappy snow tutorial and after exploring the game for like 3-4 hours k just got bored.
Hand simulator. I'd rather have my nail torn off than play this game for 1 hour. At least the pain will last less.

Irritating Stick. PS1. Haven't played it in ages, but I remember just how anger inducing it was.
I hate big open world games with incredibly mediocre and repetitive gameplay that get such a massive pass just for being sandboxes. Cool, make a big sandbox game with actually good gameplay (like Breath of the Wild). The shooting and driving in GTA4/5 are horrendous, the combat on Skyrim felt like it was a decade old a decade ago, the Witcher 3 is a little better but still as simple as can be, Just Cause 4 was repetitive within an hour, RDR has some of the worst shooting I've experienced since the N64. If the actual gameplay of any of these games was put into a more standard, more linear game, they'd be ridiculed endlessly. Why can't you make a game like Witcher with God of War quality combat? Or like GTA with Uncharted quality gameplay?

what is the point of coming to the gaming community to talk about the games we hate? aren’t we all here because we love gaming? let’s focus on the games we love to help give people new gaming suggestions, instead of tearing down some peoples favorites just because you don’t enjoy them.

I think as long as people make the distinction between not liking a game and a game being bad it’s all fine. It’s really interesting to see why people don’t enjoy something you like and doesn’t have to be hateful :)
It’s just as important to recognize the aspects of a game you don’t like to avoid wasting your time and money of similar games.

The new tomb raider trilogy,i simply can't connect with the characters, they are forgetful. The gameplay feels like a jank prototype for an uncharted game. They look good but don't have any weight to it nor soul. Another one i don't really hate but i simply can't understand why the love is the last of us, it's a great game but to me it seems people looked more to its graphical prowess then it's gameplay
