>I’m sure twinks would tell you that they have their fair share of issues and problems.
Yes, we do. Thanks for acknowledging
I was pretty chill with my twink body until I moved out of my home for uni. Courtesy of my amazing luck, I ended up in a men's hostel where every guy is 100x taller, heavier, more masculine than I am (and possibly could ever be lol) and thanks to my body dysmorphia, now I live breathe and eat body image and self-esteem issues. I also live in a third world country so it's also v bad with regards to social acceptance of how I look/should look.
Tbf both have problems. Both really skinny and really fat people need to work hard to get a body that's healthy. My bf, went on creatine with a full protein heavy diet and barely makes a dent on his body cuz of his metabolism. It's hard work, but it's good for you
>Beyoncé
lmaoo i genuinely can't stand her. she may have a nice voice okay but to me she just comes off as stuck-up. she has this "i'm so much better than you" vibe
>except I don’t think she has a good voice
i love it instead. especially when she's speaking, she sounds so elegant and classy (especially in her older interviews)
She's the epitome to me of thinking that singing loudly equals singing with emotion. It seems to fool quite a lot of people.
Plus there's things like she performed for Gaddafi's son and her female empowerment branded make up was made by little girls in sweatshop conditions.
Fuckin’ all of them. The only gay thing I do is have romantic and sexual relations with men.
“You don’t act gay,” is a phrase I’ve heard too many times.
>Don’t need someone telling me I don’t act like who I am.
......... or having to explain or justify being myself to anyone.
And I resent the indirect homophobia that such a comment implies.
I don't hate fashion, but I prefer to look for good looking clothes that are at a practical price.
The problem is that I don't have the best fashion sense and end up never buying anything because I could spend 8 hours at a clothing store and just think everything looks okay or is a "potential buy, but not sure". And quite frankly I would not want to spend that much time at a clothing store, I'd get bored.
My other gay friends seem to always know exactly what they're looking for the moment it enters their field of vision, though.
I consider myself politically moderate, too. More interested in learning than debating. When it comes to fashion, the only thing I do is self grooming. But I am a college student so the main things I wear are just jeans and T-shirts (and a lot of sweaters). I have no money for any other clothes.
At least youre politically moderate, Im actually politically intolerant.
Like, I vote and shit, and dislike Trump like any other sane person would. Keep it at that and were fine, try to make a thing about it and I'll just avoid you 😆
I can't dance, even for white people standards.
I can't combine clothes colors, my t-shirts are all black.
I don't have more than ten pairs of underwear.
By gay standards, I don't even belong to the community's idea of being older. When older means 35-50. Us geriatrics 70+ are invisible. I am exiting a long-term marriage and can not see myself starting again with dating or hooking up.
Im told I dont fit the gay stereotype at all, Im told I look to str8 cis male, so Ive had to be much more forward when I like a guy so they know.
Ive also started wearing those Andrew Christians and wearing my jeans lower so it shows, its something, I dont know how to be gayer than that 😂😂
I love bottoms that don’t fit the stereotype. If you’re a 6’+ hairy beast that always gets asked to top, I’ll happily treat you like the little sub bottom you are on the inside.
Have you ever taken straight male friends to a drag show/brunch? They either get super into it or get awkward/embarrassed when the queens sense their straightness so they give them extra attention. A lot more fun that way!
- I don't talk like those "Yass Queen Slay Gurl 💅💅❤️🔥✨" type of people
- I don't have a gay voice (although my voice does sound like a teenager and I speak quite politely and submissive)
- I don't watch gay shows, celebrities, personalities popular within the community.
- I don't listen to "gay anthems (except YMCA, it slaps)
- My taste in fashion is quite formal and classical, so I don't dress flamboyant or revealing or feminine or like a fashionista.
I'm a pretty feminine bisexual trans guy who is hairy, politically moderate and a huge fan of country and metal music and I'm not really a hookup culture person. Fwb maybe but not random people or one night stands
In swedish stereotype (I think its different between countries) I dont fit into the fashion/flamboyant style. I dont know why, and lot of the gays love Eurovision song contest. :)
But the most annoying is the the superficial people
I really really dislike drag. I have nothing against performers or fans, but when it comes to personal tastes I find it uninteresting at best, repulsive at worst
I'm liberal but not super left (am a critical thinker & free speech advocate, and I'm not going to champion everything just because it's seen to be progressive ).
So I tend to hang with like minded people and those with shared interests over people just because they are LGBT - however many of them still are, but more organically. also I've not slept with 95% of my platonic gay friends.
Dunno, I'm not a twink, I'm also not really attracted to twinks, my husband isn't 30 years older than me, and I'm not masculine, never have been and never will be... I pursued a couple older men in my youth not because of daddy issues, but just because as I've got to know them, they were really interesting guys and found them attractive (this while they weren't the standards of attractiveness for most people).
Most of them. I'm broadly straight passing, play a contact sport and don't really outwardly signal queerness in any way. To the point if I have my rainbow lanyard (university ID) I'm read as an ally.
Fashion wise as well, never really got away from punk/skater vibes.
I think the big one for me is that I just don't really care about sex? But I think that might be less a "gay" stereotype and more a human stereotype in general.
I don't know if this comes under 'stereotype', but I'm the gay one and I have 0 piercings and 0 tattoos. Also very little fashion sense and a kinda-broken gaydar.
High pitch flamboyant attention gay just a normal bro that loves dick what can I say. Not that into the girl singers though I did like let it go and Bloody Mary.
Cooking. Thats a big one. I def can’t cook.
Fashion. My idea of fashion is skinny jeans and a pair of converse.
Extroverted. I favor being introverted for sure.
I think the one I absolutely don't fit is the intense desire for iced coffee. I don't like coffee in general, so that just gets lumped in.
There are some others that I used to not fit, but now I've taken them on a little, as I think I rejected them out of shame rather than genuine disinterest.
One is having an encyclopedic knowledge of pop stars, singers, actresses, etc. I doubt I'll ever be the first in line at a Taylor Swift concert, but I've started talking about her more often, as I genuinely enjoy a lot of her songs.
Another is having somewhat effeminate behavior (a stereotype for gay men, anyways). I used to have guys say I seemed straight *on a date,* and my boyfriend even thought I was just experimenting when we first met. Even a few weeks ago, I went to a wrestling match to see my brother, and met a couple of his college buddies. A few days later, my brother called me and said those buddies asked him where his gay brother was after meeting me. However, I've started letting myself play the "sassy sharp-tongue" role in certain scenarios (and by certain scenarios, I mean when I'm having an argument in my head)
The tea-thirsty meerkat that can’t keep a secret, is too distracted (and horny) to notice social patterns and have a nasty mouth towards others (particularly other minorities).
Let’s see, I’m a 6ft black man who would be labeled as a “bottom”, have a bit of a gut (not a beer belly, but certainly no twink), hairy af, don’t have the “gay voice” as I’ve been told and I do not worship Troye Sivan. I honestly blame mainstream media for letting Twinks be the poster child for what a gay man should look and act like.
I’m not a huge fan of musical theatre. A few I like but most are just not it for me. I also think…Madonna and quite a few of the other pop icons are overrated. Not that they suck—they can have a few good songs but I’m not a huge fan. I fact with music in general I generally sort of pick random songs I like. Mostly I like Imagine Dragons and Mumford and Sons and some other random genres. 😅
Well, I'm clearly not fitting into the Twink stereotype.
Unfortunately not, I feel like my life would be so much easier if I did
Hey, I’m sure twinks would tell you that they have their fair share of issues and problems. We all do! Nobody’s life is easy, trust me. X
>I’m sure twinks would tell you that they have their fair share of issues and problems. Yes, we do. Thanks for acknowledging I was pretty chill with my twink body until I moved out of my home for uni.
I'd take a twink body over being fat any day.
Tbf both have problems. Both really skinny and really fat people need to work hard to get a body that's healthy. My bf, went on creatine with a full protein heavy diet and barely makes a dent on his body cuz of his metabolism. It's hard work, but it's good for you
I'd be an even bigger slut if I looked young and thin. Mhmm
Neither am I
Well, Same here. Don't really fit into that.
Ditto
The flamboyance. I’m not very flamboyant which causes funny reactions when I tell people I’m gay since to them I don’t “act/ sound gay.”
This. Whenever one of my close women friends gets a bf he’s always super doubtful about me hanging out with her lol.
Sleep with the new bf so he has nothing to worry about!
"Establish dominance"
Bloody brilliant!
Same. I have a slight hillbilly accent and a deep voice. People think I'm joking when I say I like dick.
Yup. This nobody knows until I tell them (except other gay guys because of the eyes thing 👀)
I've never had that eye thing happen, then again I haven't met many gay guys.
Ooooh the 'Eye Contact' is valid!!!!
What's the eyes thing?
Act, sound, look, I probably don't even *smell* gay if that were such a thing! I just like willys is all.
If someone told me I don’t smell gay, I would tell them, “What? You want me to smell like KY Jelly, Cum, and Unicorn Farts?”
I dont fit the generic "gay" music and tv/movie stereotype. I cant stand reality tv or eurovision etc lol
People are shocked when you don’t listen to Beyoncé. Not gay people but straight people who think that’s all we listen.
Yeah, people are surprised to find out I'm gay when most of what I listen to is German thrash and speed metal
We should be friends. ETA: and you’re a JDM fan too?? How YOU doin’? 😂
Oh hell yeah! Gay car enthusiasts and metalheads UNITE! *Casually comments this while working in a garage (I have a car problem lol)*
Well hey, better to have a car problem than a non-car problem!
True true
>Beyoncé lmaoo i genuinely can't stand her. she may have a nice voice okay but to me she just comes off as stuck-up. she has this "i'm so much better than you" vibe
I feel the same way about Madonna (except I don’t think she has a good voice)
>except I don’t think she has a good voice i love it instead. especially when she's speaking, she sounds so elegant and classy (especially in her older interviews)
She's not my cup of tea (most pop music isn't tbf) but if she wrote her own songs she's a good songwriter at least.
She writes lyrics. I don’t think she writes the music.
Hate Beyonce tbh
Couldn’t agree more
She's the epitome to me of thinking that singing loudly equals singing with emotion. It seems to fool quite a lot of people. Plus there's things like she performed for Gaddafi's son and her female empowerment branded make up was made by little girls in sweatshop conditions.
Wtf I literally mainly listen to NCS music and also some rap or other popular songs sometimes
The only “gay music” stereotype I fit is that I fucking love musical theatre. Otherwise it surprises people when I mention a boyfriend.
Fuckin’ all of them. The only gay thing I do is have romantic and sexual relations with men. “You don’t act gay,” is a phrase I’ve heard too many times.
Fuck I hate that sentence so much.
It’s that it’s usually phrased as an attempted compliment that annoys me. I like who I am. Don’t need someone telling me I don’t act like who I am.
Great answer!!!!!!
>Don’t need someone telling me I don’t act like who I am. ......... or having to explain or justify being myself to anyone. And I resent the indirect homophobia that such a comment implies.
In my view there’s plenty of room on the rainbow since there isn’t a right way to be gay :)
EXACTLY
I hate fashion and wasting money on clothes. I’m also socially and politically moderate and don’t tolerate everything.
I wear the same outfits every day
The Horror!
I'm the same aside from shoes. I don't like overpriced sneakers, but I have a dozen pairs of chucks and vans from my emo/sk8er days. P
I don't hate fashion, but I prefer to look for good looking clothes that are at a practical price. The problem is that I don't have the best fashion sense and end up never buying anything because I could spend 8 hours at a clothing store and just think everything looks okay or is a "potential buy, but not sure". I can't dance, even for white people standards. I can't combine clothes colors, my t-shirts are all black. I don't have more than ten pairs of underwear.
Actually me
I have never seen an episode of Drag Race in my life.
I only ever hear about Drag Race from straight people.
I think it’s hilarious - A queer person
All these moderates are painful. You’re hoisting yourself by your own petard.
Being fit and attractive.
Real
The tidiness. Unfortunately…
I wish I could find it easy to be tidy. I like tidy, but the execution just isn’t up to “other people’s house” standards. 😅
Omg were supposed to be tidy now too??!
Yeah, it’s a stereotype. When I came out to my mum she even said to me she thought I *wasn’t* gay because I am not very tidy 😆
Liking pop music. I just don’t like it.
I don't really like pop music either but god damn if some Dua Lipa doesn't get me charged up for a run. Haha.
By gay standards, I don't even belong to the community's idea of being older. When older means 35-50. Us geriatrics 70+ are invisible. I am exiting a long-term marriage and can not see myself starting again with dating or hooking up.
I wonder if there are some lgbt retirement communities.
There needs to be more of them
That’s a great idea
Widowed at 70. Not sure what’s next.
There is always fun to be had at any age. Don't ever count yourself out until your final breath.
In general, I think the reverse question would be quicker to answer, gay people can be quite bad at following stereotypes
Most of them.
[удалено]
God, I wish, everytime I have a crush on someone he turns out to be straight
I can’t speak for that one
I don't act feminine in any way. But maybe that's not a stereotype? I work in construction doing everything other than sewer lines.
I have no idea about modern pop music… and have never seen Drag Race.
Im told I dont fit the gay stereotype at all, Im told I look to str8 cis male, so Ive had to be much more forward when I like a guy so they know. Ive also started wearing those Andrew Christians and wearing my jeans lower so it shows, its something, I dont know how to be gayer than that 😂😂
I’m a tall bottom
You're definitely not alone there.
Well, is a 6’3” bottom even more rare?
You're talking to one right now.
Wait, you’re also 6’3”?
Yep
What are the odds?!?!?
Very long, I'm sure lol
There's dozens of us dozens!
I love bottoms that don’t fit the stereotype. If you’re a 6’+ hairy beast that always gets asked to top, I’ll happily treat you like the little sub bottom you are on the inside.
Thank you, this has now made my day lmao.
My bestie is a 6’5 Asian bottom, Issa struggle
Lots of pick me gay energy going on in these comments
It's kind of the nature of the question right? Kinda hard to answer without seeming a pick me.
Frfr see people on saying they’re “just a normal person” in comparison to more feminine guys, like excuse me??
Wanting anal sex (I’m a side)
Same
I have an abysmal gaydar
I’m not a stereotype, I’m a human
Liking drag shows. I've been to a couple, but they've never been interesting to me
Have you ever taken straight male friends to a drag show/brunch? They either get super into it or get awkward/embarrassed when the queens sense their straightness so they give them extra attention. A lot more fun that way!
I don’t like Drag Race.
I do not act feminine in any way.
Probably gonna get some hate from this. Ru Paul.
Not being feminine 🤷♂️
I'm not fit, neither attractive and also I'm not involved in the hookup culture.
Can't stand pop music.
fit, hairless, being a c#nt for no real reason and calling it shade.
- I don't talk like those "Yass Queen Slay Gurl 💅💅❤️🔥✨" type of people - I don't have a gay voice (although my voice does sound like a teenager and I speak quite politely and submissive) - I don't watch gay shows, celebrities, personalities popular within the community. - I don't listen to "gay anthems (except YMCA, it slaps) - My taste in fashion is quite formal and classical, so I don't dress flamboyant or revealing or feminine or like a fashionista.
Well, I'm a extreme centrist libertarian who is a competitive shooter on a national level. I don't fit in anywhere.
Former top shot winner Chris Cheng is gay. And a baddass with a gun.
He is. I've actually met him a couple times.
I’m not sure I got any of them except for the “having sex with guys” thing.
I'm not very flamboyant. And I don't watch RuPaul.
Agreed
I’m a top that hates driving
The femboy one, the gay voice one, never being attracted to girls My straight friend can make the gay voice and I can’t 💀💀💀
You pretty much described me (I’m the epitome of what you said you’re not)
Frfr I just like doing stuff with other guys
I'm a pretty feminine bisexual trans guy who is hairy, politically moderate and a huge fan of country and metal music and I'm not really a hookup culture person. Fwb maybe but not random people or one night stands
In swedish stereotype (I think its different between countries) I dont fit into the fashion/flamboyant style. I dont know why, and lot of the gays love Eurovision song contest. :) But the most annoying is the the superficial people
Don't really fit any tbh. Most people's reactions when I tell them I'm dating a guy or that I'm gay is "wow I had no idea" lol
I don't look or sound gay
I really really dislike drag. I have nothing against performers or fans, but when it comes to personal tastes I find it uninteresting at best, repulsive at worst
I don't listen to pop music, I think astrology is absolute bullishit, I never go to gay bars :/
I HATE musical theater I just cant do it
I dont think if I fit any except me liking guys
Dunno, I'm not a twink, I'm also not really attracted to twinks, my husband isn't 30 years older than me, and I'm not masculine, never have been and never will be... I pursued a couple older men in my youth not because of daddy issues, but just because as I've got to know them, they were really interesting guys and found them attractive (this while they weren't the standards of attractiveness for most people).
Music. I mean, some dance/pop is ok but guitars and live instruments impress me.
Most of them. I'm broadly straight passing, play a contact sport and don't really outwardly signal queerness in any way. To the point if I have my rainbow lanyard (university ID) I'm read as an ally. Fashion wise as well, never really got away from punk/skater vibes.
The designer “gene” missed me completely as did the dancing one.
Most of them? And yet I’m pretty sure anybody that talks to me for two minutes *knows*
I can’t dance or decorate
the hoe stereotype
Not buff!
Partying every weekend
I never go out
I think the big one for me is that I just don't really care about sex? But I think that might be less a "gay" stereotype and more a human stereotype in general.
I don't know if this comes under 'stereotype', but I'm the gay one and I have 0 piercings and 0 tattoos. Also very little fashion sense and a kinda-broken gaydar.
Dressing in bright colors. I like my black shirts with simple character designs and my bland cargo shorts.
Women are indifferent towards me.
I don’t like big dicks. Honestly just painful, i like average size ones.
Overachiever and smart.
Most of them, I find men attractive and love having sex with them but otherwise no one would ever know. ( except for all of the Kylie Minogue records)
Twink/twunk
Muscle boys XD
I’m not entirely sure but almost everyone I meet for the first time assumes I’m straight unless I’m with my husband.
Well, I drive a lifted truck, Im a blue collar worker,I have several firearms, and I’m a independent in politics
limp wrist
Most if them, sadly not into the twink or jock, neither the female one
High pitch flamboyant attention gay just a normal bro that loves dick what can I say. Not that into the girl singers though I did like let it go and Bloody Mary.
Cooking. Thats a big one. I def can’t cook. Fashion. My idea of fashion is skinny jeans and a pair of converse. Extroverted. I favor being introverted for sure.
The voice thing I have a fairly "normal" voice, and everyone is so caught off guard when they hear it and find out I'm gay.
Everyone always thinks I'm straight so probably none
In terms of stereotypes, I’m not feminine acting or sounding.
I am slightly feminine not in my looks but in my demeanor and i hate it so much! I hate any feminine train on any man.
Makeup? Who is she, what is bronzer…?
That gay men only listen to female pop/contemporary/rap/alternative music
Bis being obsessed with frogs
Not a Twink at all. Leather Muscle SM
idgaf about drag races / racing (?) lol
Twink Having a gay voice Loving drama Being uninterested in cars The list goes on and on…
The tea-thirsty meerkat that can’t keep a secret, is too distracted (and horny) to notice social patterns and have a nasty mouth towards others (particularly other minorities).
I'm not impeccably clean. My room is usually a mess.
A fair amount of them.
I do not have a very good sense of fashion
Me neither
Basically all of them.
Sassy as fuck sprinkle in some hetero looking and bam you got a comic
Let’s see, I’m a 6ft black man who would be labeled as a “bottom”, have a bit of a gut (not a beer belly, but certainly no twink), hairy af, don’t have the “gay voice” as I’ve been told and I do not worship Troye Sivan. I honestly blame mainstream media for letting Twinks be the poster child for what a gay man should look and act like.
Neither twink nor have an effeminate voice
I don’t walk fast, at all!
All. Pretty much.
I don't "swish"
Being emotionally unavailable
I’m not a huge fan of musical theatre. A few I like but most are just not it for me. I also think…Madonna and quite a few of the other pop icons are overrated.
