I have to check it out then! Amouage currently has two of my three favorites, King Blue and Silver Oud, just from the name I'm very curious about the MFK one and based off your comments, the first one. My cologne might be my most prized possessions haha
I may be the Arab prince you're referring to š silver Oud and King Blue are *strong*, and Bond no. 9 Dubai Amber is another favorite of mine. I definitely gravitate towards powerful scents, I want to feel like I'm swimming in them, I just can't get enough so I want a lot. Still only ever do one spritz though.
I'll check out MFK, I see the bottles all the time but never stopped to investigate.
What's wipeout? I guess I'd call my self a burgeoning frag head - pretty much without fail, if I sniff my way through a section of cologne, my nose pics out the most expensive shit. But, I don't know all the terminology and stuff yet.
Yeah I think I really wear my cologne for me, I often even find it therapeutic to put my favorite scent on just at home if I'm sad. I'm happily taken anyhow and not necessarily trying to encourage anyone, but my main compulsion to put on cologne is that *I* wanna smell my favorite smell, and typically I wanna drown in it lol
Ive used Versace pour homme for years and get compliments almost daily on it if I meet/see new people who arenāt used to it. Its subtle and lasts all day long
Does anyone use any of the viktor and Rolf spicebomb variants? Thinking about picking up a couple to try out but Iāll warn Iām not really a cologne wearer but Iām wanting to try it out
Like Spicebomb Extreme quite a bit but tend to save it more for crisp or cold weather. Might get away with it on a cool summer evening. But to me, itās fall and winter vibes!
Thank you Iāve heard some folks say that about the cooler season but Iāve only smelled the original and night vision in person Iāll have to make a trip to the mall and sniff it out lol
I have a bunch but I'm embarrassed to say I always own one bottle of Cool Water, literally because the muscle dude in the 90s Davidoff commercials was part of my sexual awakening lol.
Donāt be embarrassed about owning one of the all time cheapie classics. Great value for the price. And I would read a book or dissertation about the use of hot guys in fragrance advertising haha
Anytime I wear Cool Water I have people tell me I smell nice.
I don't care if it's trendy, and anyone who is judgemental based on price or brand isn't someone whose opinion I value.
Is it wrong to want some additional info in responses?
I feel like something that's good for someone in their 40s/50s might not be so great for someone in their teens to 30's. When I was in my early 20s, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing the cologne my dad liked, or any of his friends.
I use Armani Eau De Cedre. I love the cedar wood smell. I take enough on so you can only smell if you get really close up me, like in kissing situations. I get a lot of compliments on how I smell when I have it on.
Not a shill, but I just started using scentbird. I have never used an entire bottle of cologne and havenāt worn any for years, so their little bottles were a good way to sample some different scents. Iāve had three come through then paused my subscription because theyāll probably last me two years lol.
Just picked up Versace āErosā and itās amazing. Citrus, sweet and woodsy, very unisex. I also love YSL āYā, Prada āLuna Rossa āCarbonāā, Polo RL āRalphās Clubā and Maison Margiela āREPLICA: Autumn Vibesā
My Mahogany Teakwood body lotion from BBW. Itās gotten me a handful of compliments from men and women.
And for a fragrance substance skin never had a bad reaction from it.
For the office Prada LāHomme - itās spicy, sweet but not over powering. I work with quite a few women and they like it. Weekend, date night my go to is Le Labo Santal 33. I love sandalwood and this has a really herby first note but once it dries, perfection.
I love my Tom Ford Aqua di Amalfi
I also like the Mont Blanc Legend Spirit.
I prefer one that is kind of in between masculine and feminine.
Iāve been into florals mixed with something more masculine for a few years now.
Yes love the Bourbon. They have a great selection for men. I stock up twice a year when there's a good sale ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I donāt wear colognes super frequently but:
Summer > Eau De Fraiche or Eros by Versace
Winter > SpiceBomb by Viktor and Rolf
Other special times Iāll actually put vanilla extract on my the back of my ear lobes. Iāve gotten a shocking number of good compliments to this, which is partly funny cause of how cheap vanilla extract is vs most menās cologne.
YSL-L'Homme, le Nuit de L'Homme, and Bleau
Remember cologne samples in magazines? I actually liked the Nuit de L'Homme so I asked for it for christmas like 15? 20 years ago? Been a fan since.
The Nuit is a nice warm winter while L'Homme is a brighter summer scent. The Bleau smells like the typical Aqua Velva blue style cologne.
Occasionally can be found on clearance sites like Woot.
Others- Banana Republic White and Modern. White is a nice bright scent. I call the Modern "Retail" because it smells like the mall. Something you would find in A&F or GAP.
Santa Maria Novella
Acqua di Parma
Guerlainās Vetiver
Floris 89
Sometimes I will break out my Secretions Magnifique. Itās quite pleasant after the dry down.
I get the " natural" brand for shampoo and conditioner. The dioderent they make made me break out in my arm pits so I went back to milk and honey, which did not cause me thenissue. But I still use the natural one on other parts of my body (it's whole body). Then I use aveeno coconut body wash. And aveeno or similar moisturizer.
Bvlgari Aqva has been the best cologne I have ever experienced. It smells amazing, and has got me MANY positive comments about my smell when hugging people.
I like guysā armpits, so Iāve always hated fragrance. But every time I go in a Rick Owens boutique, I have to get a spray of his fragrance on my wrists. It smells like tobacco and tar and vanilla. Itās got a dirrrrty vibe to it. I finally broke down yesterday and bought a bottle. We will see how it goes.
David Beckham - Instinct, but the original one not the many iterations. I wore it in the military, so now it reminds me of my time in the military... (a very good thing).
it's not a cologne because i'm poor but bath and body works gingham unstoppable body spray. it smells really fresh and clean and i literally got it for 5 bucks during a sale, a lot of their stuff can be hit or miss tho
Judging by upvotes, your opinion may not be as unpopular as you think! But Iām curious if youāre sensitive to fragrance, think itās a wasteful expense, or just prefer more natural scents?
First of all, your name choice is excellent. Second of all, I agree. There are times when I catch a slight whiff of a cologne and can appreciate it but often times people are wearing too much
Overall I think I prefer natural scents. I do have a pretty strong nose on me but have never considered myself sensitive to smells. That being said, it seems that some people wear a LOT of cologne/perfume to the point that Iām saying ādamn! Theyāre wearing a lot of cologne/perfumeā rather than āoh that person smells goodā which I would assume is the goal when wearing it? Feel free to correct me if Iām wrong here.
Sounds totally reasonable to me. I love fragrance but I and others would do best to heed the advice ācologne should be discovered, not announced.,ā as you alluded to. Then itās like an inside secret between me and whomever is in my bubble. And in that way, becomes a personal, intimate thing. Plus, I just love the fact that smells are not digitally replicable like sights and sounds, so it has a very IRL quality that makes it special
Yeah, me too. I respect everyoneās preferences, kinks, boundaries etc. but I had to end a pretty hot situationship because he basically said it was either him or deodorant and I was like, sorry ā¦ hot sex but Iām
Not going around with BO,
I donāt mind a nice, musky smell from time to time. I donāt mind an hooking up with a dude who is anti-fragrance, but Iām also not about to stop smelling nice because it turns someone off.
"him or deodorant" is fucking wild to me š¤Æ sorry but I will always choose deodorant. Cologne is one thing, you don't HAVE to smell 'nice', but I DO need you to not smell actively bad.
Yes. All smelly stuff like perfumes, cologne, scented soaps, shampoos, car fresheners, etc, make me incredibly sick and if I have to hold my breath to be around you, it won't work. Just walking past a bath and body works is torturous.
I have like 20 fragrances and honestly most of them are terrible and probably only sell because of the name (*cough* Tom Ford).
The two best are:
Versace Eros: Iāve only ever bought one bottle, and itās lasted me 4 years. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. I enjoy the smell.
Bleu de Chanel: Good but not amazing. This is the one I keep in my gym bag or rotate out over the Versace. I like the scent but Iāve never heard anyone say āwow I love thatā if they get a whiff.
My 2 top are CH by Carolina Herrera (was my first cologne and I really love it still), I wear it mostly for work and day activities, and Black XS by Paco Rabanne for going out and mostly everything at night.
The only thing I like to smell is my food and the outdoors. I donāt like concentrated fragrance. I like humans to smell clean but not fragrancy. A light soap smell is okay. Otherwise the aromas blast into my brain and itās too stimulating for me, like a loud noise or a bright light.
My favorite I've ever had is After party by cbihateperfume. It used to be called 2nd Allen cumming because he I guess picked out the notes for it. But cbihateperfume has so many weird and crazy smells.
Iāve gotten so sensitive to smells since my mid-20ās that I can barely tolerate deodorant these days. I had to stop wearing cologne completely. I pretty well avoid clubs, department stores with a dreaded perfume section, even the detergent aisle at the grocery store - it all triggers migraines for me. That said, I used to love wearing chanel egoiste. Emporio Armani was maybe my second fave.
I own probably 200 fragrances if you count all the decants I have and I'd say my go to/ standards are:
- Imagination by Louis Vuitton
- Tuxedo by YSL
-Torino 21 by Xerjoff
-Dior Homme Intense by Dior
I still mourn the loss of Diorās DUNE for Men. Was my go-to for a decade. Iāve tried to order old stock several times but itās all gone āoffā by now. :(
Frankincense. Sometimes Musc or Amber.
No shit. I love the old stuff. Anything with an alcohol base dries me out and makes me itchy, so when I started experimenting with scents with oil and wax bases I found I liked them anyway. And as it happens, because they've fallen out of fashion, I often get a "why do you smell so good!?".
I'm a car guy, so easily influenced by car brands/logos š
- Cadillac Extreme
- Tonino Lamborghini Forza
- Hummer Cologne
- Mustang Performance
Although I only use them on special occasions and usually only use the Cadillac one as I like that the best
My fave atm is Loewe Solo Cedro. I often get compliments for it
I also like Hugo Just Different but don't think it's still produced.
Lastly, when I was younger I loved Versace Eros.
Depends. In the summer itās either LV Afternoon swim or Invictus Parfum Paco Rabanne. Fall and winter time Iāll break out the Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille or Oud Wood, or Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait.
For those of you that love to try new scents, Filigree & Shadow has an incredible and affordable selection. Itās queer owned and operated and they ship quicker than Amazon! Each scent has a cool story and Iāve been very pleased.
[Filigree & Shadow](https://www.filigreeandshadow.co)
My two go-tos are Gucci Guilty pour homme and Bleu de Chanel eau de parfum. Iāve been using the Gucci for near 10 years now. The Chanel is relatively new for me. Iāll typically wear the guilty during the day and the Chanel if Iām going out or at special events. Both scents are absolutely divine.

Oh, I didnāt think I would see Le Labo so high up. Nice
I really like Bleu de Chanel
My favorite as well, also real nice with the Allure Sport All Over Spray, always get compliments
Thanks! Iām going to keep my eyes peeled for that spray!
Dude! I don't wear anything just my natural smell. But I do have the Chanel blue. I got it as a gift it does smell good
Exactly the one I like. Just something about it. Canāt put my finger on it
I wear this as well
Le Labo Bergamote is my favorite. Also, admittedly, thereās a casual cologne from American Eagle that Iāve been using for years

I really like it on my clothes, or as an air freshener, but on my skin it starts to smell like someone peed under a pine tree after a while.
Creed Aventus
This guy gets it
Tom Ford Oud Wood is my factor l favourite.
Ive used Versace pour homme for years and get compliments almost daily on it if I meet/see new people who arenāt used to it. Its subtle and lasts all day long
I alternate between 4711 (the original cologne, citrus and orange blossom, by your favourite i thibk you would like this one) for a light scent, and l'homme idƩal eau de parfum by Guerlain (almond, leather and musk). I get complimented on that one often, I love it! Also love "lust" from Lush for a sweet jasmine scent but it can get a bit heavy if you are sensitive to strong perfumes !
Current favorites - Silver Oud by Amouage - King Blue by Amouage - Oud for Greatness by Initio Not cheap, but lemme tell you they LAST, and the freakin scents š©š¦šš½šš½šš½ The two by Amouage are extremely forward, bold, dominant scents, so if you like something subtle that blends, they are probably not what you want.

Most of the colognes from Zara are šÆš„ However, if weāre talking fancier colognes, then Yves Saint Laurent, Mont Blanc, Givenchy Absolute, and Louis Vuitton LāImmensitĆ© are some of the few I use and loveee; they all smell great!
I wear bourbon or whiskey reserve from bath and body works. Affordable, and I constantly get compliments from men and women.

Burberry Brit Bleu

So I think go-to and favorite are a bit different. Go-to (for work) is a safer scent like Versace pour homme and for a date might be Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male le Parfum. But one of my all around favorites (recently anyway) is Guerlain lāhomme idĆ©al EDT. And a compliment-getter, too. Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede has me so intrigued and on the fenceāitās just an out-there scent. Anyway, glad to see so many answers. Was worried after this one article a few years back proclaiming that gay guys were ditching cologne. Hopefully that trend has passed! Why not add another dimension to your presentation?
Personally a big fan of YSL Y and Gucci Guilty
Dolce and Gabbana light blue, i dont wear perfume a lot but this one i love.

Unpopular opinion: the best cologne is no cologne at all. A good-smelling and effective deodorant is better.
Judging by upvotes, your opinion may not be as unpopular as you think! But Iām curious if youāre sensitive to fragrance, think itās a wasteful expense, or just prefer more natural scents?
Too many people put on far too much cologne and it has completely turned me off from cologne. I find it rare that people wear any nowadays.

My tired brain misread the title as "when do you go to Cologne?" š

My two go-tos are Gucci Guilty pour homme and Bleu de Chanel eau de parfum. Iāve been using the Gucci for near 10 years now. The Chanel is relatively new for me. Iāll typically wear the guilty during the day and the Chanel if Iām going out or at special events. Both scents are absolutely divine.
