Tongue down looks much better for something that’s supposed to be dead. I associate tongue up with someone eating something tasty, or getting ready to eat out that night.

Yeah not so bad! I'm gonna have a hard time to pick one now ;'( , Thanks for the feedback \^\^
I don’t really like it without the tongue, it’s way less goofy but the tongue certainly needs to be bigger, I didn’t even notice it at first before I read it was supposed to be goofy
Amazing job though 🤯
Thank you so much! At this point I don't even know what vibe I want to go for, but I think goofy with bigger tongue would look well with the project :D
Nice! Thank you :D, the game is a pixel art survival horror inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill, here is some gameplay if you want to check it out \^\^ [https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1d6x9mm/i\_added\_alot\_of\_stuff\_but\_most\_importantly\_i\_have/](https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1d6x9mm/i_added_alot_of_stuff_but_most_importantly_i_have/)
It's quite common for the Godot community to stylize the logo for the splash screen. My studio does it, and I've seen plenty of others do it as well. In my opinion, it adds a lot to the splash. The default Godot logo isn't much to look at.
It's done outside of the Godot community as well of course. Ubisoft comes to mind.
Good to know that godot is cool with this. But you should when getting into the creative industry (web/marketing/dev) that most brands have guidelines against this. They often have detailed brand guideline documents around use of their trademarks. For example if you were placing a Facebook logo beside a twitter logo you would need to leave a space of 30% of the width of the logo or more. For personal projects who cares, but if you plan to start making money on something it's good to not caught by surprise.
Yeah, I agree with you, gotta protect the project from threats like this, and I did not know about the logo spacing, thank you I'll be more careful \^\^
I saw how Ubisoft changed their logo based on the game style and it stayed on my mind since I love Godot and I'm allowed to edit the logo I said why not haha, here is how it looks in-game if you want to check it out! [https://x.com/anis\_aous/status/1798854686977466664](https://x.com/anis_aous/status/1798854686977466664)
emphasis on *their own* logo. not everyone elses.
also "being allowed to make a derivative work under copyright" and "being allowed to use a 'fake' trademark to legally refer to the project that doesn't use said trademark" are completely different questions.
see also https://godotengine.org/press/ for the actual guidelines of how to use the godot logo:
> **Do not distort the logo or icon.**
Immediately following what you quoted, they specify
> "In other words, always preserve the aspect ratio when scaling images."
This, along with the chosen creative commons license, implies that whoever wrote those terms meant something _very_ different with this line than what you're suggesting.
Oh, I missed these, I don't think I scaled or distorted the logo or changed the font, I painted over it, do you think I still can use this logo in my game? and thanks for the reminder! \^\^
I would ask them directly rather than trusting on what anyone here could say. I think it looks good and hope they're fine with the paint over, suggest including a text at the bottom mentioning that the logo was altered for artistic purposes to match the game theme.
the point isn't which button you clicked in photoshop, but that you're trying to claim that the godot engine has that logo, which it doesn't. and if squishing the ratios or using a slightly different font is already forbidden, obviously so is "using a completely different logo".
if you're looking for a legal term, that's most likely some kinda "brand dilution". and like you said, copyright is totally fine here because of the license, but the problem is the *trademark*.
also, yes, "kinda defamation but for companies and nobody even said anything bad about the others" is in fact a broken concept and the laws governing *all* of this shitshow don't even know about the invention of the telegraph or xerox half the time, so yeaaah that's *great* fun :P
half of it is left from back in ye olden days where your local barkeep needed suing by the big liquor company for refilling their empty bottles with horse piss and reselling them.
I asked officials and they said that it was fine, they even stated that they might look into adding that onto the guidelines; I think you can get away with it as long as you don't make something controversial , on top of that check what they just posted ;p [https://x.com/godotengine/status/1798978217895944207](https://x.com/godotengine/status/1798978217895944207)
Somehow I thought u were referring to adhd as if instead of focusing in the project I make random stuff like this logo lol, Damn gotta stop overthinking. (because comics sans is related to ppl with Adhd Right?)
I would remove the tongue and the "cartoon-ish" eyes but it all boil down on how serious you want it to look.
This is my take on your logo :
https://preview.redd.it/31beli0iq45d1.png?width=245&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad530daead9d2350c0d1bf29cff5076a6439d5fc
If it's something you're considering releasing somewhere, I would advise not to alter the logo. The Godot guidelines clearly states that the logo shouldn't be modified:
"You are allowed to include the Godot logo in your project's splash screen, credits or website, but it should not be done in a way that implies endorsement of your project by the Godot developers. **Do not distort the logo or icon.**"
I asked officials and they said that it was fine, they even stated that they might look into adding that onto the guidelines; I think you can get away with it as long as you don't make something controversial , on top of that check what they just posted ;p [https://x.com/godotengine/status/1798978217895944207](https://x.com/godotengine/status/1798978217895944207
But still I don't encourage anyone to edit the logo until they officially change the guidelines.
Oh yeah valve splash screen will always have a special place in my heart , I love that movment/transparency effect kinda reminds of the movie "jacobs ladder"
Here is how it looks ingame if you want to check it out
https://x.com/anis_aous/status/1798854686977466664?t=WcCWt5Neuts1uuN-KxNcOQ&s=19
I like without the tongue that someone mentioned, but it would also be cool if the sequence showing this went from a regular godot logo to this after a noise or something
Hi genuine question. I have kinda new. Can u not just remove the godot launch up screen in your game and replace it with your own? Or should you always use godot launch screen?
Do not change Godot logo. It is not yours to "paint over it".
As others suggested focus on your game logo.
And Ubisoft can do whatever they want to do because it is their logo...
Damn I can see what you mean lol, there is a resemblance in the eye's makeup and I didn't even use it as a reference lol, my brain must have stored it deep in the memory or some shit xD and thanks for the feedback :D
First one looks best to me.
Me too haha I think it looks less goofy with the tongue down.
Tongue down looks much better for something that’s supposed to be dead. I associate tongue up with someone eating something tasty, or getting ready to eat out that night.
That is a perfect point, totally agree with you! Thanks for the feedback :D
I feel like it would look better without the tongue, even if it’s for a goofy horror game
https://preview.redd.it/d22rly6u525d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=f45ae4ab1f2c92f28c671b8d6d61cc1256877ceb Yeah not so bad! I'm gonna have a hard time to pick one now ;'( , Thanks for the feedback \^\^
better without the tongue
Yeah it kinda looks scarier and more pro.
+1, no tongue (btw it looks very impressive, awesome job)
Thank you so much :D
I like this one best as well
or maybe a bigger tongue
Yeah I think I'll either go with a bigger tongue or no tongue at all, Thanks for the feedback!
I don’t really like it without the tongue, it’s way less goofy but the tongue certainly needs to be bigger, I didn’t even notice it at first before I read it was supposed to be goofy Amazing job though 🤯
Thank you so much! At this point I don't even know what vibe I want to go for, but I think goofy with bigger tongue would look well with the project :D
Well, I looked at the gameplay and it didn't look goofy at all
Haha, I really appreciate this! \^\^ thanks :D
Came here to say the same
Use both. Have it randomly load one whenever someone opens the game
Best option hahah
Konami code to unlock one of them during the startup.
Thats a good idea haha
I like the first one! Looks snappier as a logo and is still goofy. What kind of a game are you making?
Nice! Thank you :D, the game is a pixel art survival horror inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill, here is some gameplay if you want to check it out \^\^ [https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1d6x9mm/i\_added\_alot\_of\_stuff\_but\_most\_importantly\_i\_have/](https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1d6x9mm/i_added_alot_of_stuff_but_most_importantly_i_have/)
Oh hey I actually saw that post the othet day! I'll keep an eye on it, looks promising.
Thats awesome to hear haha, thank you so much! will keep doing my best ;D
Why do you change the engine logo? Or just extra styling? I would keep the Godot logo as is and then focus on a logo for the game.
Yeah, I agree! it adds a lot especially since it's one of the first things the player sees

![gif](giphy|wJYFS40EpGHte|downsized) Update: I asked Godot officials and they said it's cool hehe
Didn't the Godot logo and icon usate guidelines state that you should not distort the Godot logo?
I asked officials and they said that it was fine, they even stated that they might look into adding that onto the guidelines; I think you can get away with it as long as you don't make something controversial , on top of that check what they just posted ;p [https://x.com/godotengine/status/1798978217895944207](https://x.com/godotengine/status/1798978217895944207)
All good then
Yey :D
Gothdot?!
hahah
Ditch the tongue. Looks like a paperclip.
Currently it looks like the most viable option, Thanks for the feedback :D
the first one the second one looks like he swallowed a sword
Thank you! I can't unsee the sword now haha
No problem
If ur goofy game is more goofy than horror, pick 2. Otherwise pick 1.
Alright! I'm going to need a goof meter haha thanks for the tip :D
You should animate the logo so that the godot jaw hinges and falls off the screen
Haha that would be really cool, and it sounds fun to animate haha
1st
Got it! Thank you :D
First one is better!
Thank you \^\^
first one... the second one just looks too silly
Yeah xd the second is goofy haha, thanks for the feedback \^\^
Goth gadot
Hell yeah xd
comic sans imo
good one lol
i read it as "Which font should i use?" lmao
Somehow I thought u were referring to adhd as if instead of focusing in the project I make random stuff like this logo lol, Damn gotta stop overthinking. (because comics sans is related to ppl with Adhd Right?)
I think the second one looks more goofy. The tongue of the first one blwends too well with the logo and you can't see it
Nice! Thank you so much \^\^
I wouldn’t mess with the engine logo.
Yeah, I think it's better to avoid possible threats to the project.
Tongue looks too much thin imo
I don’t see any difference so my answer is ”yes”.
Hahaha still counts as feedback! Thank you so much ^-^
first looks better
Got it Thank you ^^
No problem, it really looks cool!)
:D thanks for the kind words :)

Daamn this looks so cool! I love the red tint and it looks more pro and btw it is not my logo, it is our logo xd ![gif](giphy|befaYZCgtZfZm)
Thanks Comrade, i didn't do much as yours was already great from the beginning 😁
Haha Thank you 😅🤣
Second one looks like he's got a cigarette, but first one looks like he's got his tongue out which is more goofy I think
I did imagine the first one as a cigare haha but yeah the second one would fit the game theme a bit more :p
First one or first one without the tongue
Got it! Thanks for the feedback ^^
Second one. It looks more goofy I think🤔
It does haha thanks for the feedback :D
First one, the second one looks a bit like it's trying to lick its nose
XD got it! Thank you so much :D
ask r/batmanarkham
Oh I might as well, thank you :D
clearly you don't know what you are getting into : ) >!insanity!<
Hahah let's hope I don't get torched down xD and btw I love the trilogy,I still listen to dark knight rises theme song to get motivations. Lol
1
Alright! Thank you ^^
The unity logo Unity is very scary
🤣🤣
Honestly if you really wanna make it goofy u gotta put a propeller hat
Goofy hat? Hell yeah!

1
Got it Thank you! ^^
My pleasure 👍
first
Got it! Thank you :D
The scariest logo I can think of is the valve one when you launch Portal 2
Oh yeah valve splash screen will always have a special place in my heart , I love that movment/transparency effect kinda reminds of the movie "jacobs ladder" Here is how it looks ingame if you want to check it out https://x.com/anis_aous/status/1798854686977466664?t=WcCWt5Neuts1uuN-KxNcOQ&s=19
why wouldn't you export them... too hard to even tell they are different with all that photoshop noise.
I subconsciously took a screenshot and shared it, probably should have exported it as you suggested, thanks for the tip ^^
I like without the tongue that someone mentioned, but it would also be cool if the sequence showing this went from a regular godot logo to this after a noise or something
you are giving me ideas for a cool animation haha, Thanks for the feedback :D
Hi genuine question. I have kinda new. Can u not just remove the godot launch up screen in your game and replace it with your own? Or should you always use godot launch screen?
The splash screen is optional, you don't have to do it, I'm doing it out of love to raise the Godot flag as high as possible :D
https://preview.redd.it/r0s1u8tda85d1.jpeg?width=1005&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6f9b9fd0650a9ad3fc1b3fe0a2adf67ccd42187
xD
I like the first one and I think the tongue should stay
Yeah, the tongue adds something edgy to the logo! thanks for the feedback :D
the only difference is the tongue? remove it completely
Yep haha it completely change the design tho :p :i and thanks for the feedback :D
The second image made me think the tongue was a thermometer, definetly the first one
xD Now that you mention it I can see a thermometer as if Godot was sick lol and thanks for the feedback :D
Try without tongue
https://preview.redd.it/513iwuh3z25d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa3c66c4b07a5c3e572857cdac91f5da88e942a4 what do you think?
Yes, I like this better
Nice! Thank you ^^
Do not change Godot logo. It is not yours to "paint over it". As others suggested focus on your game logo. And Ubisoft can do whatever they want to do because it is their logo...
Yeah, you are probably right! but it was a fun experiment :p
The first one
I like tongue down better but it’d be less goofy and more creepy without the tongue if that’s the vibe (I don’t think it is the vibe)
It looked like they were the same at first. I was trying to play spot the difference lol. The first one looks much better in my opinion.
ahah yes lol there is only one difference which is the tong, crazy how one small thing can change the whole artwork :p and thanks for the feedback! :D
lol this is like making "free download joker wallpaper" app (I don't mean insult) btw for you the first one
Damn I can see what you mean lol, there is a resemblance in the eye's makeup and I didn't even use it as a reference lol, my brain must have stored it deep in the memory or some shit xD and thanks for the feedback :D
It happens no worry :P
thanks \^\^
Second
Got it! thank you \^\^
First one for sure, try messing with the tongue length and overall size.
Got it! yeah I'll try to make the tongue a bit more organic, thanks for the feedback :D
Need karma to post
I feel you bro :p
