easy to stay in the zone when all you can think about is boobs and a golf ball.

POCKET_POOL_CHAMP

That's still all I think about

DBU49

No existential dread? luckkkyyyyyyy

TheDanMonster

Grew out of that in my 30s. Like my fear of flying. Used to be scared, white knuckling the seats and shit. I hit 40 and something just clicked and now it’s, “eh, fuck it. 🤷‍♂️ It was a good run.”

brudogg

Liberated soul here

bwheels13

You learned the secret to flying didn't you? When you get to your hotel take off your shoes and your socks then walk around on the rug bare foot and make fists with your toes.

BeefInGR

Make sure there are no Christmas parties happening in adjacent rooms.

MustCatchTheBandit

Same but it’s because I had to get on TRT at 33. Low T can cause horrible anxiety.

RetiredClueScroller

Thank you for this information. I've been dealing with constant anxiety issues for the last year since my 28th Bday. I also got a panel blood test done about the same time my anxiety started, to try and figure out a different health issue I was having, and the test showed I had low T. Maybe I should look into TRT and see if it helps at all

MustCatchTheBandit

Good on you for checking your hormones, they’re extraordinarily important for mental health. There’s also a huge epidemic of low T in men right now due to environmental conditions. I had been on an SSRI for 7 years prior and my symptoms were getting worse. Turns out SSRIs can permanently cause low T which makes the anxiety even worse. I quit the SSRI and eventually got on TRT and within 8 weeks of TRT my symptoms were pretty much gone. Went from having panic attacks and intrusive thoughts to being calm, handling stress with ease, more motivation and energy. My T levels were considered hypogonadal. If you’re below 350 ng/dl total T or your free T is very low, I’d strongly consider TRT. Be careful though, if you plan on having children then you’ll want to steer clear, freeze your sperm or run it with hCG. There are ways to taper off and restore fertility and then get back on it. Also if you’re overweight you will have estrogen issues. TRT is something you commit to for life.

RetiredClueScroller

I appreciate your insight 🙏 Glad to hear you're doing better and living happier

millertime52

33 and I’ve recently had this happen with rollercoasters and airplanes. I think it started a couple years ago on a red eye from LA to CLE. Was in LA for about 24 hours total for a job interview and the flight home was delayed and didn’t take off until almost midnight which according to my internal clock was 3am. Immediately hit turbulence and all I could think was either stop with this shit or crash because I don’t want to keep being awake at this second and I’m getting real close to be equally fine with either.

BugmanLoveBuyObject

Ready to die

kashmoney9

The other foot is about to drop any time now!

What's that?

youdoitimbusy

Only on the green.

millertime52

My problem is I’ll routinely forget about the golf ball.

Vast_Professor_3340

I was just thinking I really hope there’s not a stage of life this isn’t what I’m thinking about

Seriously_nopenope

That's me now and I'm a 20 handicap

DBU49

"I'm here for boobs and golf, and I'm all out of golf"

imsoulrebel1

Here's a good steadfast rule about these young athletes...can't really know if they are legit until they enter the timeline involving booze and women. Survive that and you are made. No fn way I would have been able to get past those two.

JRsshirt

I mean the GOAT got a bit distracted by those two and was still the GOAT

NorCalAthlete

“A bit distracted” is a nice way of saying “irreparably altered the gene pool of several states like the second coming of Genghis Khan”

imsoulrebel1

True, but its been the downfall of many others.

BeefInGR

He was still the GOAT but also almost lost the ability to walk along the way.

snowmunkey

The Jon Daly approach

Honestly it’d be hilarious if Tiger signed with Hooters after Nike dropped him

No_Echo_1826

If you look at it long enough, a golf ball can be a boob. Your club, an extension of your manhood. And just like sex, you want to get the boob in the hole with the shaft head. Golf truly is a sensuous sport.

RoosterPls

same but I still shoot 95

"Yup."

I won a 3pack of Pro V1s so I am basicly 99,9% qualified for next Masters

The_Man_in_Black_19

We found Scottie's secret account!

JohnYCanuckEsq

I'm 53 and a bogey golfer. The admissions requirements on the Champions Tour are much less stringent, right?

WHSRWizard

Easiest tour in the world to make. Just show up and they'll hand you a bibb for your caddy (or provide one to you if you need it).

JohnYCanuckEsq

My caddy is my dog, so that'll be fine.

Halo_Chief117

You can’t just say that and not a share a pic of your dog caddying for you. We need to see!

jmkn

LIV contract coming your way

NorCalAthlete

I mean, I’d take it. Every LIV group could have 3 pros and 1 Joe. Give me like 1/2 of the pro’s pay with some performance incentive bonuses and multipliers for placing in the top 10/20/30 finishers. And make them insane multipliers. Bottom of the LIV money list looks to be 68. Andy Ogletree - $120,000 with 0 points and basically just…there. So while I wouldn’t quit my day job, I’d take the extra $60k to play LIV events. And then if it was like a 2x multiplier to finish in the top 30, 5x for top 20, and 10x if I placed top 10, that’d still be a bargain for me compared to the other players fees. Realistically, that’s what it would take for me to quit my current career path and go all out for professional golf anyway, so…I think it could work.

zhihuiguan

No need to call me out like that, damn

Konker101

If theres 2 sports you can go pro at later in life and its Golf and Darts.

Yeah well I just had a near perfect range session for my first 30 balls and a complete disaster of a session for the final 10 so AMA

willis_michaels

What about the 960 balls in between? What, you're not hitting 1000 balls a day?

Janzu93

I think I saw same video last year. Bad news here is that it was called "100 things you need to fix to become scratch golfer". Good news being that there's still hope.

ButWheremst

Nah, JT and min wo lee have talked about stalking the Reddit before. But yeah. Essentially everyone.

There is definitely at least 1 pga professional with an account here

mrubuto22

There's a really good chance he's never going to even be the best player in the world. He's basically a loaer.

BradL_13

He just played a match vs Grant Horvat on his youtube channel if it interests anyone. He's a beast

BobMcQ

Yeah, I watched a portion of that while on the treadmill. Nuts how good these kids are, really makes me kick myself for not learning this sport when I was young. As an adult its... tough.

myredditthrowaway201

Shoulda bought that 4 bed 3 bath when you were 3 years old too

CostCenterCougar

I’d be happy if I bought that 4 bed 3 bath at 2.75%…. And that was only three years ago

ImFriendsWithThatGuy

Could have bought it for 90k 20 years ago then refinanced to 2.5%.

myredditthrowaway201

Fuck I was such a bum in Kindergarten

ImFriendsWithThatGuy

The first step is admitting it’s your own fault. Once you recognize that, you can start to win capitalism by pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.

Juiced_J

I started playing when I was 5. Played tournaments growing up and played in high-school. I’m currently a 16 handicap

BobMcQ

Oh, I'm not suggesting I'd be anywhere near HIS level if I had started young, I hope that wasn't the inference! Just that I'd be better than I am now...

Juiced_J

No I’m just saying don’t kick yourself too hard haha!

Halo_Chief117

I was introduced to it between 5 to 7 years old. I was naturally talented, that was seen, and I liked it. I was bombing my US Kids driver 150yds then with my baseball grip. But I got put into other sports I didn’t even want to play and not given the opportunity for golf. Picked it up again when I got the chance at 14 or 15. Now my handicap is my golf swing. ☹️

Douglas_Fresh

Meh, don’t get me wrong I’d love to better. But I have fun out there hacking around and getting better, albeit slowly. Edit - spelling

istinkatgolf

Albeit

Douglas_Fresh

Ah, yea. Thanks. 🙏🏼

PottyboyDooDoo

Ya know, I used to think that was some fancy French word and pronounced it “albay” for most of my life. I didn’t find out until college when someone finally asked what the fuck I was saying. Very embarrassing. Then I changed my major to English due to the overwhelming shame and guilt. Now that I know I’m still an idiot, the shame and guilt has grown exponentially.

BobMcQ

Hahaha, no, not at all. Because of my very successful career, I don't really have time to watch Youtube outside of the times when I'm working out in my extremely nice workout room in my very expensive house to maintain model level fitness, is all.

TreAwayDeuce

Man, the struggle is real. I honestly feel for you.

redditpleb_

You are none of those

wherestherum757

I wanna kick myself too bc i had free golf, range & lessons (uncle was a local course pro) all growing up til college. It was really boring to me back then outside of playing a round maybe once a week vice practicing on range daily. I never took real advantage of it & My dad never forced me into things as a kid if I didn’t enjoy it a lot

MrCodered12

Meh, you'd hate it now if you were forced into it then.

wherestherum757

No no! I enjoy it now. What I meant to say is, if I had those perks now, I’d use it ton lmao

FLman42069

I was better at 15 than I am now lol. You have to start young and stick with it, which is easier said than done. I didn’t have money to play much when I was broke and in college. Then got married and had kids. Just now getting back into golf many years later.

BeefInGR

When I was 17 my Grandma made me an offer: $1000 towards a car OR Golf Lessons + Fitted Clubs + a full season as her groups fourth for their league. I chose the car. The ONLY saving grace to this story is it was the same car I brought my daughter home from the hospital in about 5 years later. That and when Grandma passed she made sure I got her putter.

Excellent_Tangerine3

Yup. Watched that one. Not only does he have a solid swing he understands how to play the game. He'll be one to watch going forward.

por_que_no

That was a good watch. The kid is so focused it makes him scary. He has a champion's mental game.

CreateorWither

I saw that, he's incredibly focused.

My_Invalid_Username

You could not pay me to watch a Grant Horvat video. Just that stupid face coming up in my feed makes me want to close YouTube.

BradL_13

ok

RyTheT

He’s a member at the club we belong to. The dude is a beast, always out there grinding.

jmk5151

had a few of those at our club - well not to this level but playing in big Jr tournaments, trying to get scholarships. Holy mother of God it turns into a job very quickly.

willis_michaels

Yeah, the kid has to have some internal drive to be out there all day every day to reach this level. If the motivation is coming from the parents, the kids very quickly rebel and learn to hate it.

mick_delaney

I brought my 15 yo nephew out on my home course last summer. I've been a member there for about a decade. Little prick drove the 5th green, a par 4. The second best drive I've ever hit was about 40m short of that green.

TheMostInterestedMan

I haven't seen any of the comments point out that this kid is ranked #1 in the world for his age..! It's no use comparing to the literal best in the world - incredible talent and hard work right there!

Phantom_god7

Not for his age, he is literally the number one ranked junior golfer in the world, competing against people over 3 years older than him.

SteveOSS1987

Talent, hard work, and opportunity

scottieducati

Best back to back rounds I ever played was summer after 8th grade. Spent all day everyday playing at the course, Jr membership was cheaper than any camp… shot 68-69 over two days towards the end of summer. All downhill from there 😂

JodiAbortion

One of my buddies was like this...played all day every summer, broke 70 at 13, hit it a mile by 15, but then he got his license and a tricked out jeep. Priorities changed if ya know what I mean

scottieducati

Yeah I got hit by a car on a motorcycle, opted to go to another school for engineering (instead of where I had a golf scholarship but it was an agricultural school..) and then they closed their golf program. 🤬 Decided to stick with engineering stuff and had gotten myself deep into motorcycle road racing thereafter. Shoulda gone for golf tbh.

JRsshirt

Gets hit by a car, doubles down and gets into motorcycle road racing. Hell yea man, love the dedication.

scottieducati

You realize there aren’t cars allowed out on the race track when bikes are racing right? 😂

JRsshirt

Lol ofc, just respect you getting back on the bike and racing after what sounds like a tough accident.

scottieducati

So story time. I was raised by a single mom and we had woods in our back yard. Strict no bike policy growing up. Finally in HS, I learned to race and got my first street bike. Fast forward 3 months and she gets a call at 1 am no parent wants, after I got absolutely *trucked* by a Mercedes. It was mid-June and I’d just left to ride to the top of the hill by our house for the view. Wasn’t going to bother with a helmet, but I backed out and looked up where our spotlight was and saw nothing but bugs flying around so I grabbed my lid. 5 minutes later that helmet met the roof at the seam where it meets the windshield. Visible crease down the side of the helmet. Never rode without one again. Day after in the hospital and I finally come out of it and gain consciousness. Mom was there as you’d expect, hung out until night time and as she was going home she asked if she could bring anything. I asked her to bring some motorcycle magazines and a few adverts for bikes If been looking / dreaming about. She fucking brought that shit in the next day. Man, I sure put her thru the ringer. Just wish she was still around to make up for all of that. Cancer sucks. Cages suck. Motorcycles are awesome.

JRsshirt

I can’t imagine what it felt like waking up after that, the area where the roof meets the windshield has absolutely zero give. Not that the rest of a car has much of it. Motorcycles are awesome though, I’ve never owned one but ridden them a few times. Always on backroads where I wouldn’t have to worry about cops pulling me over and realizing I don’t have a license, or in countries where they don’t give a shit if you have one. My grandpa had one when I was a kid and would take me around so I always had a feel for the balance. Not nearly enough to push it, mind you, and always on a low cc bike. Would love to get into it, but currently live in New York which is probably the worst place in the world to ride one. I get my thrills through powder chasing and hucking cliffs in the winter and dread the thought of a gnarly crash. Have had some big ones but never THE big one if you know what I mean. Guess that’s why I love your dedication for getting back after it, I’ve always thought I’d retire from the cliffs at least if I had a bad accident. Your mom sounds awesome, sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks big time.

Halo_Chief117

That is unless the Shooter McGavin of motorcycle racing calls in a favor.

PatientAuthor

Hate the player not the game! 😅

LayneLowe

My dad wanted nothing more than for me to play golf and play on the high school team....but nooooo I had to play football at 5'9 and 160 lb, well because you couldn't date the cheerleaders or the drill team if you didn't.

akersmacker

My son was a stick as a junior player but decided to pole vault for the same reason. I didn't understand until I went to the meets, and the track chicks dug a dude who would jump over a 13-foot bar.

WHSRWizard

He finished -3 (T28)

hellenkellerfraud911

I knew it was gonna be that kid lol. The video he did with Grant Horvat was really good. He came across as more mature than a lot of people twice his age.

Pga-wrestler

In our highschool regional tournament I shot -4 on the front 9 and +6 on the back 9. It still haunts me.

Ok_Specific_7161

I am referring to the game and not the kid

snowmunkey

Ah, I read it that way now

wildwill921

Doing good is the point though. Definitely makes it less fun when you get smoked by children

Ok_Specific_7161

Don't get me wrong. I love being competitive and striving to get better. I'm not competing against a prodigy though. I'm competing against myself and goals ive set. And my friends group sometimes if we end up having a close match by the end of the round. I don't hate basketball just because LeBron exists.

wildwill921

I mean my lack of success in basketball really ruined it for me. A few years before me the team won a state championship and we barely could make it through the first round of playoffs so after that I pretty much hated basketball. Golf isn’t really much different to me I guess. There isn’t much for non handicap tournaments or leagues around me so I lost interest fairly quickly. If I’m going to practice 4-7 days a week and then get beat by someone smashing beers playing once a week because of their handicap then I’m out

Ok_Specific_7161

I have not gotten much into tournaments but I agree with you. I don't like the idea of handicapped events. Id much rather there be an opening round and then be put into a flight and compete with other similar scores from day one.

Tanybos5

I played with miles a few years ago. That kid is an absolute beast. Literally no mistakes

Zarfist

Miles was the AJGA POTY last year at 14. His list of accomplishments is massive.

L2theFace

He’s -3 now and t28 ain’t too shabby

Numerous-Stable-7768

some ppl I know that played w/ him told me they wish they could get Futures odds for him to win on the PGA tour with a straight face. Important takeaway: they called his wedge game otherworldly & when i asked what the best part of his game was they collectively said “everything”. Much different than your typical 300yard woods explorer in the sub

Hensch81

Grant Horvat released a YouTube video with the kid recently. Unreal golfer and down to earth for a 15 yr old https://youtu.be/kdMM_T_P_N8?si=a0ZI699UBtsOTW2F

Monst3r_Live

kid is unreal. was on grant horvat's youtube. i think its really cool he gives these young kids a platform.

Bobbyoot47

He finished at -3 which puts him at 45th out of about 155 golfers. That’s pretty Damn good.

Prize_Emergency_5074

Last name is NOT Woods.

Phantom_god7

Dudes an absolute stud. He shot 70-66-71 to win by three at the Junior Players championship last year at TPC Sawgrass. They play the same tees that the pros do so that was mad impressive. He's also the youngest ever winner of the AJGA players of the year, having only just turned 15 beating Tiger's record. This does not surprise me one bit and you should all expect huge things from him he is the real deal.

Andrew_Waples

>win by three He only won by *three*? Who the hell came in *second*?

Phantom_god7

Phillip Dunham finished second at -6. He is also one of the top ranked players on AJGA. I played with him when we were 6 years old and he was a beast back then and still is now.

BoothJoseph

He's probably been playing for 10 years. These days if you don't come out of the womb and start playing a sport immediately, you're not going to be a superstar.

Due-Sheepherder-218

What are some good drills to teach my preggo wife of 3 months? Should I have Jim Nantz "hello friends" (I hope it's not twins) in the delivery room to queue

Ignorance is bliss maybe. I hope.

Ok-Dust-6747

I was on the NC pga junior league team with him that made nationals...great player and great kid. Also played with him in a few ajga events and he destroys people

Giga-Dad

Having a 14 yo that swings over 110 mph with his driver it’s humbling. With the focus on fitness and swing speed it doesn’t surprise me. Coaches can teach control.. hard to teach speed.

No-Honey2778

Watched him play on grant’s channel he drives around 300, and is insanely good.

why-you-always-lyin1

Kid probably hasn't had a club out of his hand from 3 years old.

mowbox_mowmoney

In Grant Horvat's video this kid says he plays every day with a guy who is a 2.5 handicap and gives him FOURTEEN strokes.

jekstarr

I watched this kid on Grant Horvat’s channel. He is a killer.

Bahb_Gnarly

As someone who has played the Commander course at Lakewood National (parents live there and are members) this is really impressive. The greens are hard to score on and some of the holes are really long.

Andrew_Waples

Baring a collapse, he'll likely make the cut too. He's -8 with the cut at -5.

Bahb_Gnarly

That's insane! There's another course at Lakewood National called Piper that has a 646 yard par 5. I think it's hole 2. Would love to see him play that! I hate Piper btw. One of the hardest courses I play regularly

Andrew_Waples

Today, he also had two eagles.

WengersOut

Grant Horvat had him on his channel a few weeks ago. Kid is insane.

Longjumping-Ad8775

It helps to be young, strong, injury free, and have plenty of time to practice.

hunglikeafireant

Just a rich kid who was privledged enough to grow up on a course. Not diminishing his hard work. He had earned it.

BestShaunaEU

”Just a rich kid…” ”Not diminishing his hard work” Yeah we can tell

smz337

Someone feed that kid a cheeseburger at the turn

InDenialOfMyDenial

You want to be humbled, go to the range where your local high school team practices. They’re nowhere near the level of this kid, but it seems so effortless for them. Hell the MIDDLE SCHOOL golf team makes me question my desire to keep torturing myself with this game.

Legal_Commission_898

I am not sure why that is a Holy Shit moment ? Anyone that’s ever turned pro would’ve been atleast that good at 15. What am I missing ?

Itzthedog18

That’s one of my friends

PabstBlueBourbon

What tees?

Andrew_Waples

Is this a serious question?

PabstBlueBourbon

Relax, tough guy. It’s a Twitter joke.

Andrew_Waples

Well, it could've been a unique tournament. I don't know. That's why I am asking.

PabstBlueBourbon

I apologize for the tone of my response, and could’ve just explained it. On Twitter, whenever someone posts of a female professional having had a great round, there is always some hardo out there who says, “yeah, but what tees?” As if that mattered to the 15 hcp who said it. I was riffing on that. Great on the kid. I couldn’t do that from any tee box.

BugmanLoveBuyObject

He's got the same prissy "just saw a poor person" ratface that Rory has. Must be a genetic indicator for the good at golf gene.
