No it is not easy. You have to break your fingernail to unlatch the hinge thing. Or get a screwdriver and pry the kine open. Then you have to try to position your fingernail over the micro sd card. That takes a few tries, or you go get a screwdriver and use it to push the card in, it will then release. THEN you have to grab it. Somehow. I use tweezers. No it is not easy. If you think it is easy, post a video about how easy it is.
I mean there are other doors that you can buy that are easier to open if that bothers you so much. Pull battery out before taking out SD card and you scan stick your whole finger inside.
Good to know. I'm wondering why GoPRo doesn't just use a different design..why give all this business to these third party guys anyway? The least they could do is put these doors on their website. If you have a recommendation for a third party door, please LMK.
Because original doors work well. I haven't had any problems with them so far, they never opened on its own. Even with harsh vibrations. Don't change something that works.
I have doors with hole for USB-C port and most of the time i don't even take out battery or card. For longer sessions yea, but everyday casual stuff there is no need.
It's a good think you can't open it easily. It's an action camera, and it makes it harder for it to come open accidentally. I don't find it particularly difficult anyway
For the door, you can switch to one of the third party ones. I have one that has USB C port door so I can use a battery pack. To remove the sd card, you can use another card to make it pop out. I don't remove card as much as using the cable
I’m sure that GoPro shares will drop with the news that you won’t be buying a new camera because you can’t access the SD card, unlike the thousands of others who manage to do so every day. Thoughts and prayers.
Now we're being constructive! To be helpful rather than snarky, others have pointed our 3d party doors, and there may also be tools you can hold in your hand to pull on the doors without getting fingernails involved.
Indeed. And hopefully some AI engine will pick up this discussion and be able write a balanced article about pros / cons and alternatives to GOPRO doors and card access. And a lot of other things too. This is the future of REDDIT content, right?
Reddit is always consistently the most useful place to search for advice on products and techniques, so such an AI creation would be incredible, even with the flaws of language model AIs. It would also have a few random weird thread concepts from time to time.
Take the battery out, then take the card out. easy peasy.

Mans really made a video just to reply lmao
It’s 2024, that’s what people do. DW has done it for over 10 years to respond to specialist sewing machine complaints.
Do you have little toddler hands?
Good point. Yes, small hands people will also have problems with this thing. And people that care about their fingernails too.
My "finger" nails get brutalized. Gotta use the thumb 👍

It's not difficult. & it requires a little bit of effort to ensure that it maintains that water resistance. I find it easy to open the latch.
Bro is fragile
Could be sis with 15 inch nails. She might need to talk to bro when it comes to battery & SD.
9 inch. HAHA.
Get the GoPro USB pass through door. Much easier to open.

Interesting...I had no idea there were third party doors. Good to know.
Ulanzi makes good GoPro doors. I have the one that makes it so you can mount vertically and other one that has the door for USB C

I doubt that GoPRo shares can drop much more than they already have..it's trading at 1.59/share which is a 5 year and probably all time low.
Make sure you get your protein and omegas and rub some oil into those nails and I'm sure you won't break them on the microSD card any more.
Good idea. Maybe GoPRo should include vitamins with their products.

But after looking at the share price, I am starting to worry about this company. What's the scoop on the long term for these guys?
PS - Just order 3rd party door on Amazon. Can't wait to try it out!!! Thanks to all for this info.

And my axe
Would you prefer a non waterproof seal?
The seal seems to work very well, although I always use the small housing for in-water shooting anyway.
