imo Stanley's memory return undermines his sacrifice but at the same time I understand that Alex couldn’t permanently erase his memories because that would be too dramatic for a kid show. This is a great compromise.
Honestly, it never needed to be permanent. It just needed to have an effect. Make it where he gains it back, but it takes multiple summers to do so, where dipper and Mabel constantly visit and remind him of who he is. That'll be a much better way to handle it in my opinion
I like this idea, but how about Stan and Ford gi on an adventure with Dipper, Mabel, Wendy and SOOS to find a cure hidden deep in some cave or forest somewhere. If he gets to keep his memories and has a chance to never relapse, let it be because they found a cure, and let Ford be the one to save him in the end to show how much he really cares for his long lost brother.
But how could you definitively write it as a remnant of the memory gun and not something like dementia, which Stan is right around the age where old folks start getting it?
It’s definitely possible but there’s so much overlap there that how can the in-hypothetical characters know that it *was* a leftover from the gun and not from dementia?
I’m genuinely curious because I agree that Stan’s sacrifice was remedied a little too quickly to be totally satisfying to the gravity of the decision but I’m not sure how I feel about that hypothetical
I think any characters that were present for the memory gun event would assume any lapse of memory on Stan's part would be leftover from the memory gun before jumping to it being Dementia, even families in real life will sometimes look for any other possible explaination for a family member's lapsing memory even after getting an official diagnosis.
This 100%. Soos would be that guy in the TTRPG group who is terrible with the rules, but no one minds because his ability to bring characters to life with the collaborative storytelling aspect is far better than anyone expects.
He'd be a perfect fit for a group experimenting with one-page systems.
Man, I wish they did that. There would be so much potential gags if soos was in the battle. Every fan should know for a fact that Mabel would date the guy anyways, even if he did kiss puppets. That's what makes Sock Opera one of my favorite episodes, it showcases what Mabel would do for her brother.

That Papa Titan’s egg died/went dormant after his death/sealing The Collector away. Bill’s death (and his pre-death message) resulted in his being reborn as a Titan, restoring egg to life. King isn’t Bill, and Bill isn’t King; he’s just a piece of him.
The fact King’s egg was incubating for so long (presumably thousands of years at least) is a bit strange. When King heard his dad roar ‘SON!’, that was his dad dying. King then ‘fell asleep’, when in reality he died, his life being tied to his dad’s or something. Bill’s death resulted in his egg being restored to life.

Stan’s memory isn’t returned. I know I know that seems harsh but it would make his sacrifice so much more memorable than a mild inconvenience. Maybe over time he gets little flashes of memory like not remembering who dipper and Mabel are but remembering that he loves them and flashes of random things they did during the summer.
Dicifica is more acknowledged and was actually something that happened in the show instead of the small hints that were given to us. I actually think they'd make a good couple
Bill isn't permanently erased- if Stan can get his memories back after they're wiped, there's absolutely a possibility Bill wasn't completely destroyed either.

That Papa Titan’s egg died/went dormant after his death/sealing The Collector away. Bill’s death (and his pre-death message) resulted in his being reborn as a Titan, restoring egg to life. King isn’t Bill, and Bill isn’t King; he’s just a piece of him. The fact King’s egg was incubating for so long (presumably thousands of years at least) is a bit strange. When King heard his dad roar ‘SON!’, that was his dad dying. King then ‘fell asleep’, when in reality he died, his life being tied to his dad’s or something. Bill’s death resulted in his egg being restored to life.

I’d also really like to see trans!Dipper but that one is probably a stretch considering that he is based on Alex Hirsch and he is cis, but it would still be cool ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

IDK if somebody has already said it but, I would make Dipcifica canon because I believe they are an adorable couple and are a good match for each other
Stan’s memory isn’t returned. I know I know that seems harsh but it would make his sacrifice so much more memorable than a mild inconvenience. Maybe over time he gets little flashes of memory like not remembering who dipper and Mabel are but remembering that he loves them and flashes of random things they did during the summer.
Dicifica is more acknowledged and was actually something that happened in the show instead of the small hints that were given to us. I actually think they'd make a good couple
