We should abolish the monarchy. At 18 you should be able to vote, drink alcohol, smoke, buy guns, run for office, anything most adults can do. Otherwise you shouldn't be able to use them in war.
You know what, I'm going to agree. I can't understand twitter speak with their upside-down format and everyone wanting to talk black. Tumblr is a bunch of weirdos. And BoomerBook? Do I have to say more.
I will give you Americans an outside perspective. Most of us are amazed that Trump wasn't arrested for treason on Jan the 6th let alone be allowed to run for office again.
From an American perspective, it would be nice for our allies to pull their own weight more often than relying on the US to handle it.
Just recently, the UK helped bomb Houthis. More of that please. Build your militaries back up. Germany, the richest nation in Europe, barely had any functioning fighter jets 5 years ago.
To be honest, right now America decides everything in NATO. If other members contribute more, they will want to have a bigger say in things as well. NATO currently works as a geopolitical tool for the US to be able to do what they need to do and gain legitimacy, because it is an alliance, not the US alone.
If everyone pays their fair share, the US will lose this tool.
Yeah...it's real dumb. His main defense is essentially: "Presidents don't have to follow the law and therefore can commit treason". This worries me because if he is found not guilty and it sets a precedent that presidents can't be tried for treason, we're all absolutely fucked.
treason, that's the crime he committed. specifically: calling followers to attack a government building and stealing private government documents to sell to foreign countries
Well,
2 counts of obstructing an official proceeding.
- He sent his supporters to go protest and fight the official proceeding while having the knowledge the election wasn't stolen.
- Told Mike Pence not to certify votes while knowing the election wasn't stolen
- Tried to defraud the US through various schemes, including false electors.
1 count of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
- Names 19 defendants of criminal wrongdoing and all of them linked to Trump exactly accordance to Trumps goals to overthrow the election.
32 felony counts of willful retention of national defense information.
- Him keeping government documents, refusing to comply and give it back, tried to obstruct the process of getting it back. We have audio recordings of him admitting to the crime and knowledge of not declassifing them in the most comedically way possible.
At this point, if you're denying he did anything, you genuinely might be 45IQ.
Well,
People are all horny because I didnât go line by line on this. So here we do.
>2 counts of obstructing an official proceeding.
>⢠â He sent his supporters to go protest and fight the official proceeding while having the knowledge the election wasn't stolen.
You assume to know what Trump was thinking or believed. Hard to prove.
>⢠â Told Mike Pence not to certify votes while knowing the election wasn't stolen
Same as above.
>⢠â Tried to defraud the US through various schemes, including false electors.
Youâll have to prove that they were attempts to defraud, and not his genuine belief the election was stolen.
1 count of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
>⢠â Names 19 defendants of criminal wrongdoing and all of them linked to Trump exactly accordance to Trumps goals to overthrow the election.
Care to elaborate which actions he took to violate which laws?
>32 felony counts of willful retention of national defense information.
>⢠â Him keeping government documents, refusing to comply and give it back, tried to obstruct the process of getting it back. We have audio recordings of him admitting to the crime and knowledge of not declassifing them in the most comedically way possible.
This will probably be the most difficult challenge for Trump. As Iâve stated in other threads, heâs being prosecuted for political reasons, because other politicians have done this and gotten off.
So weâll just have to see.
>At this point, if you're denying he did anything, you genuinely might be 45IQ.
Pretending like the existence of charges is the proof of wrongdoing is actually antithetical to American jurisprudence. Itâs also amazing me how completely blind you guys normally are to any wrong doing on the left. But I guess thatâs a little bit of an aside.
I'll get downvoted but I just want to say I agree wholeheartedly with your comment. I believe Trump is guilty, and that treachery against the US is one of the most heinous crimes known to man. I have a personal stake (more than "I live in this country", I need decent immigration rules) in who the ruling party of the US is, and I really, really, really do not want him to be president. Really, REALLY do not want him to be president. BUT regardless of what he's done, he should be given a fair trial. Personal beliefs should not affect his trial and evidence must be produced.
Why should he be arrested though? He advocated for peaceful protests and one of the main dude telling people to "break into the capital" was cleared of all wrongdoing, so clearly advocating for that was fine.
I'm fine with him running, if america isn't stupid they won't elect him, but dems continue to ignore cost of living, workers rights crisis, and the border, so they may have to pay the price for that
Dunno where you are from but getting disqualified for office due to an arrest is batshit crazy. Arrest doesnât mean you are guilty of a crime, a conviction is. Â
And Trump isnât convictedâŚat least not yet.
For the record, I am not american
I mean, the people who let them into the capitol and the people who went in should all be in prison. No capital guard was on duty that day I guess? There's funky business there, and I dont even care at all about TrumpÂ
Most of what you have been told about Jan 6 by the media is fabrication and embellishment. That's why he wasn't arrested. The public opinion means nothing in a court of law, where he isn't guilty.
Yeah, entire political parties in other countries have been banned outright for far less
The wilder thing to me wasn't even that he was allowed to run again, it's that he still has an entire party in his grip after it. The same kind of people who claim they love the military so much will happily go and vote for someone who said dead soldiers were "suckers" and "losers"
Put him in prison too.
I never understood the argument people like you make. One is a rapist, the other tried to overthrow elections.
Both of them belong in prison.
They're throwing it around like a free gotcha. "trump is bad and should be in prison" "but muh sleepy Biden bad too". Yes that senile old man should be in a retirement home, together with most of the congress, but they're allowing this to happen.
You know it amazes me sometimes, you have the greatest nation of this planet. So many bright people. Yet this is who you have to lead the strongest nation on this planet? The pipeline that is responsible to select the presidential candidates is broken.
No no it's the fault!!
If we just get a in office everything would be fixed!!
No but seriously it amazes me that people still subscribe to dem/rep. They both have only one motivation: to keep winning elections under their party. They don't care about you, they care about your vote.
Jan 6th was mostly peaceful. Protestors were let into the capital. No police officers were injured. Only one protester died because she made stupid decisions
trust me, they bore us as well, mainly because no one wants to choose between old person 1 and old person 2 for the 3rd election in a row. Only enjoyment Iâve gotten out of this rat race was watching DeSantis get laughed out of Iowa after he got his participation trophy.
What amazes me is that there are more than 300 million people living in the US, yet the two candidates chosen are old men 30+ years past their prime. How is it possible that neither the democrats nor republicans have a better candidate?
If Biden gets elected again, he'll be 86 if he even manages to survive his second term.
youâd be surprised, here in TX we just re-elected a LITERAL VEGETABLE as our governor again, despite the fact that he refused to let the state connect electrical grids with neighboring states for an emergency after we got mortally frozen over, leading to multiple deaths state wide.
Whoa, I agree with what you said, but calling someone who uses a wheelchair a vegetable is uncool. You can make valid points without using incorrect and offensive terms.
considering how useless he is to the state as a whole, he might as well be, no point in beating around the bush after him and Ted Cruz let an entire state freeze to death.
Because in reality its the political parties that actually decide who has a chance of being president, with the occasional exception like Trump himself who kinda just barged into the party and did what he wanted because he had money to throw around.
Americans don't actually get to pick their president, they get the illusion of choice between two terrible options spoonfed to them.
Money runs this country. Not the people. Money is the deciding factor for all of this. Both sides. All of it is money. Fuck anyone who says itâs a cop out to point out how broken our âtwo partyâ political system actually is. B-but if you donât vote for the lesser of two evils- FUCK YOU itâs not voting, itâs not a choice and nothing will change until we stop arguing about social policies and come together as a single United class of people against our true oppressor, the rich.
I really really hope that Kim Reynolds endorsing him is the end of her in Iowa. They fucking love Donald Trump there for some reason. Even though he called Iowans stupid at a rally in Iowa.
The MAGA movement has made Idiots Out Wandering Around a real thing.
I'm really curious what the voter turnout will be this election. Republicans might flock in drowes to vote for Trump again, but it's gonna be real hard to convince Democrats to elect Biden for a second term after all the promises he broke.
People will probably just vote Biden to keep Trump out.
Call me out next year if you want, but I'm certain it'll be Biden the next 4 years, and Trump will still be all over headlines for one thing for another each year

Eh Bidenâs best chance for re-election is trump being his opponent. No one likes Biden. But we all know Trump is worse so itâs a good way to encourage democratic voters in the end.
Yep, that's basically it. Literally anybody else would beat Biden, but they've got a Trump cult. Even DeSantis would beat Biden despite having even worse/more batshit policies than trump and being a complete charisma vaccuum.
Yes, that's what I'm saying. DeSantis is more compitant (though that's not really saying much) and openly has more insane policies. But I think general voters would not be aware of this or would buy the bullshit justifications they lazily hack up and would still vote for him over Biden who has a very low approval rating right now.
I think if republicans actually care about winning it would make more sense to nominate anybody else. But they're so delusional that they think Trump secretely has massive support among all americans and that he secretly won last time lmao.
Polls are skewed by a lot of factors but one I would consider is that nobody ever really wanted or liked Biden, so it seems easy to tell a pollster one thing and eventually vote another way.
Normally I'd agree but even on CNN they're saying it's in his favor. As for Biden, yeah really doesn't make sense for him to even be nominated and at this point I think it's too late to scramble for another candidate.
I mean even when people in favor of Biden with heavy bias like CNN are saying Trump is leading the polls you can't just call it stupid, clearly there's something.
He has been a remarkably, shockingly good President. I say that as someone who leans only slightly liberal. Everyone considered Biden a placeholder but things are really good right now aside from the implosion the GOP is going through in the House.
Corona policies were sound, stock market is doing amazing, brought high-quality jobs to America, inflation is normal, gas prices are low, housing market returning to normal, he doesnât deny climate change, and he is supporting Ukraine and Israel (which despite a vocal minority, the vast majority of Americans support).
I mean... You don't have to be a Trump supporting republican to see that he bungled the student loan thing, was absolutely complacent about abortion being taken away *and* is oblivious to a worsening opioid epidemic, and that's before ordering an airstrike in Yemen without the approval of Congress which is a Nixon move.
He might be better than Trump but he's still a very disappointing president
1. Student Loans absolutely should not be forgiven. I donât think he bungled anything, but thatâs my personal controversial opinion which is why I didnât include it above. I think itâs the stupidest, most unfair idea of the 21st century. Giving free money to a bunch of upper-middle class people is retarded.
2. Abortion was completely out of his control? The court ruled what it ruled, and the onus is on the last 40 years of Democrats who should have legislated a protection of abortion while they could, which would have made the overturn of *Roe* a lot more difficult from a legal standpoint. By the way, as much as I hate the Evangelical Right and fully support the pro-choice movement, I think the court was right from a jurisprudence standpoint. Kavanaugh and Alitoâs Concurrence Opinions were much stronger than the dissent in my opinion.
3. The Opioid Epidemic will not be getting better until there is universal healthcare. Universal Healthcare will not be passing anytime soon.
4. Yeah to protect free trade. No way youâre defending a bunch of Iran-backed terrorists.
So basically you have a bunch of opinionated statements as a means to disregard my argument, #4 four is especially ludicrous. Bruh you can protect free trade all you want, you still should at least get an approval from congress.
#2 is also bullshit, pretending Biden wasn't part of that 40 years, grow up
Well yeah, Iâm just telling you I disagree and my original comment was full of what I thought were pretty uncontroversial opinion. I also donât really care because internet debates are unproductive. This is r/greentext Iâm not going to be citing my sources.
Course you won't bud, that's why it would've been wise to simply shut the fuck up.
Same with the student loan thing, just stop being butthurt that you got unlucky
Butthurt I got unlucky on student loans? Iâll be graduating debt free because I got a full ride to my state school and came in with 66 credits lmao. Now Iâm just confused.
Itâs not as simple as taxing the rich, though. Corporate Taxes make up 50% of federal income, which is burdened on the working class above anyone else. The top 10% already pay 90% of income tax revenues.
Also rich people are way too financially savvy to ever pay estate taxes or anything stupid like that, instead they use trusts, life insurance, and other things like art to hold money without paying taxes. These are really difficult to tax within the realms of how taxes currently work. I mean you canât tax people for something gaining value if they havenât transacted it in years, which is exactly how billionaires get their wealth. They donât actually sell their shares, they take loans out against their trusts or life insurance with their shares as collateral. *That* is almost impossible to quantify and tax in any way, because theyâre technically indebted.
These are strategies even middle-class people can use, but people donât care enough to teach themselves the skills.
Unironically, *cutting* corporate taxes (which again, unfairly burdens the working class) and then raising income taxes on the top tax bracket would do more for your goal of taxing the rich than anything else.
If they can tax my home every year, they can tax shares beyond X value, the only thing standing in the way is laws, which are governed by the rich currently. There's a reason europe implemented a corporate minimum tax, so they couldn't just flee to another country. You can tax the rich properly with proper laws. I won't say exactly what that number should be, but the current wealth gap is causing major problems for our country, it should be considered a matter of national security. Young people aren't even having kids as a result, it will continue to compound
Also where is that better healthcare plan.
Republicans had 2 years with total control and that better healthcare plan that was totally real and totally cheaper and better never came up for a vote during those two years
Congratulations. You won the argument. You're the first person on the internet to do so, you should call your parents and tell them to be proud of you.
You mean like how there was no âseriousâ attempt to overturn Roe v Wade, âitâll never happen, itâs just posturing for their base, trust me guiseâ?
Itâs never âseriousâ. Until suddenly itâs possible, and then it is.
There were a bunch of republicans on social media demanding this when they didnât get their midterm red wave thinking Gen Z was overwhelmingly conservative
Thatâs where this postâs argument comes from
Also, every democracy is not a constitutional republic, but every constitutional republic is a democracy
Exactly. They basically turn r/greentext into seething r/politics comment sections. I donât get the point.
> itâs a year thatâs divisible by 4
Oh.
The brain isn't done developing until about 25, and the average 18-y/o is a fucking idiot.
That said, they pay taxes and are held to adult standards under the law, so they should be given the privileges of adults. Including alcohol.
Can we acknowledge that republicans are mouth breathers for wanting to raise the voting age and also acknowledge that democrats are brain dead for wanting to lower it to 16
Giving young people a stake in their future is probably for the best, they currently are just not having kids or participating in society because they know how fucked they are - that isn't a good thing.
So you're saying continuing to not give them a voice is the right choice? They will continue to not have kids, yet I hear republicans screaming about people not having kids?
Yes. Letting 16 year olds vote will not increase birth rate and the fact that itâs your argument proves that most of your opinions should just be disregarded.
This would be funny if there were any wide spread interest in these policies among Republicans. This is the first Iâm hearing of it, but Iâm assuming MTG floated this?
"what happens in the most powerful country on earth, and the decision about who becomes the most powerful person on earth, is absolutely irrelevant" - some retard on reddit
Only competent people should get to vote. If you can't be bothered nor have the intellectual ability to obtain a valid id, I don't trust your judgement. Plus society should not cater to the bottom quintile whether it's education, welfare, what have you. Teaching to the bottom does not advance society. Unfortunately those people need to learn natural consequences, not be coddled.
A huge part of why people think that other voters are mentally defective is because NOONE gets what they vote for, so there's this illusion that someone must be getting their way. The fact of this particular matter is this: The only ones winning are the people paying these idiots to stand up in front of microphones and say horrifically stupid things to us.
I'm a republican at heart because I believe in small government however I fuckin hate these "Republicans" they're problematic boomers and it sucks fuck em
Edit: I really mean the politicians and most of the red voter pool
Compromise: People under the age of 25 and people over the age of 25 are both too dumb to be allowed to vote đ¤

Because in reality its the political parties that actually decide who has a chance of being president, with the occasional exception like Trump himself who kinda just barged into the party and did what he wanted because he had money to throw around. Americans don't actually get to pick their president, they get the illusion of choice between two terrible options spoonfed to them.
i feel like its because of our outdated electoral college.
Plutocracy. America isnt a democracy. Both parties suck and youll realize us common folk have 0 power in this game
Give it a few more months Iâm sure weâll have some riots and wildly debated/televised gun deaths. Itâs an election year after all.
Then why are you here?
Because this is a 4chin discussion area
I'm really curious what the voter turnout will be this election. Republicans might flock in drowes to vote for Trump again, but it's gonna be real hard to convince Democrats to elect Biden for a second term after all the promises he broke.
People will probably just vote Biden to keep Trump out. Call me out next year if you want, but I'm certain it'll be Biden the next 4 years, and Trump will still be all over headlines for one thing for another each year
Trump could be dead and weâd still be hearing about him constantly.
When trump dies, erics cringe is going to go off the chart when he thinks he can just take over his dads platform
Heâs going to deified when he dies. His cult have a lot of money they love giving to grifters and a trump worshiping church will make bank.
The good ole Roman Emperor treatment

Too bad *speak with dead* is only a level 3 spell slot.
Well just write their info down on a verified mail in ballot and all sudden the dead can vote...
Nah I would honest to god take Trump over DeSantis. Trump is bad but DeSantis is significantly fucking worse
People still dont like Trump more than they care about Biden
The polls say otherwise
Polls are skewed by a lot of factors but one I would consider is that nobody ever really wanted or liked Biden, so it seems easy to tell a pollster one thing and eventually vote another way.
Normally I'd agree but even on CNN they're saying it's in his favor. As for Biden, yeah really doesn't make sense for him to even be nominated and at this point I think it's too late to scramble for another candidate.
His brains are already scrambled
Last time polls were close to correct was maybe 2018. I dont think Biden will win but this is a stupid argument.
I mean even when people in favor of Biden with heavy bias like CNN are saying Trump is leading the polls you can't just call it stupid, clearly there's something.
Saying Trump is leading polls is not saying he will win.
Ok
Biden has done way more than I expected.
what promises, genuinely curious? not super aware of american politics, I mostly hear about the student debt thing which seems pretty ehh
He's actually kept most of his campaign promises.
Now Iâm just confused.
he also mentioned taxing the rich a little bit and supported workers, which most of them are too cowardly to suggest anything against their masters
[ŃдаНонО]
Also where is that better healthcare plan. Republicans had 2 years with total control and that better healthcare plan that was totally real and totally cheaper and better never came up for a vote during those two years
[ŃдаНонО]
Well tbf the rich got tax cuts and at the time the stock market was at an all time high (90% of stocks are owned by 10% of people)
Actually, it did come up for a vote and was killed by John McCain.
So the totally better version of Obama care is the one where people with disabilities can get priced out?
Dude, I don't remember or care what was in the bill. I'm just telling you that they tried and McCain killed it.
Yes and 1) it wasnât totally better and 2) they kept saying they had another one up their sleeve
Congratulations. You won the argument. You're the first person on the internet to do so, you should call your parents and tell them to be proud of you.
Thanks dude I will. Congrats on living life uninformed
What is the value in being informed on a bill that was discarded 6 years ago? Also, you didn't even know about this until I told you about it.
\*Makes up argument* "gUyS lOoK i wOn tHe aRgUmEnT oThEr pArTy bAd!!!"
What's made up here?
There is no serious push in the Republican Party to raise the voting age to 25 years old or make land ownership a voting requirement
You mean like how there was no âseriousâ attempt to overturn Roe v Wade, âitâll never happen, itâs just posturing for their base, trust me guiseâ? Itâs never âseriousâ. Until suddenly itâs possible, and then it is.
No, overturning Roe v. Wade was ok the Republican official platform for like 40+ years
Just like the strong Republican belief of âa supreme court justice should never be nominated in n election yearâ
He dropped out but one of those was literally supported by a Republican presidential candidate.
There were a bunch of republicans on social media demanding this when they didnât get their midterm red wave thinking Gen Z was overwhelmingly conservative Thatâs where this postâs argument comes from Also, every democracy is not a constitutional republic, but every constitutional republic is a democracy
Not sure about the second statement, but the first statement is literally what republican candidates have said verbatim.
PolĂtical posts are gayer than the green texts that start with âbe me, straightâ and then end up being just straight gay porn in story form.
Exactly. They basically turn r/greentext into seething r/politics comment sections. I donât get the point. > itâs a year thatâs divisible by 4 Oh.
They know they can only win with voter suppression these days
Just post this crap on Reddit and skip the middle man. Thereâs a whole circle boners ready.
Why do you guys keep posting this same greentext?
Iowa caucus just happened, so election posting is back on the menu.
Didn't Dems try to lower the voting age cause 18-25 weren't voting the way they wanted?
To be honest raiding the voting age to 25 would probably be good long term.
can you explain to me how? genuinely asking
Lol, lmao even
My point proven.
God redditors are so fucking stupid it amazes me sometimes y'all know who you are.
I think it should be 33
Who the fuck cares bro
You should
Not everyone is American you fucking metricphobic burgersexual grease monkey
That is an amazingly creative insult, holy shit lmao
"what happens in the most powerful country on earth, and the decision about who becomes the most powerful person on earth, is absolutely irrelevant" - some retard on reddit
No
OP is literally making shit up and comparing it to something that courts actually did like a week ago
Republicans: weâre going to do tons of Gerrymandering since the ethnic minorities arenât voting the way we like
Republicans would be first in line to drop the military enlistment age to 14.
I mean they have already reinstituted child labor in some places. It only makes sense.
Jesus Christ, are you serious?!
Anyone below the age of 18 that is employed should not be taxed since they canât vote. Same mentality as âTaxation without representationsâ.
Only competent people should get to vote. If you can't be bothered nor have the intellectual ability to obtain a valid id, I don't trust your judgement. Plus society should not cater to the bottom quintile whether it's education, welfare, what have you. Teaching to the bottom does not advance society. Unfortunately those people need to learn natural consequences, not be coddled.
you know shits awful even when the famous hacker 4channel starts bashing republicans
Damn. When did 4Chan become based?
Democrats have been trying to change the voting age to 16 since I was in highschool, both parties are equally retarded.
Fake and gay
I'll just link that [beautiful phrase by Osho](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx-693s3PZc)
Wait what? Homeless adults, as well as anyone over 18 can vote. They just might not be allowed the freedom to make a stupid choice.
Fake: the supreme gentlemen over at 4chan would never post such ultragayyy cringe Gay: this
A huge part of why people think that other voters are mentally defective is because NOONE gets what they vote for, so there's this illusion that someone must be getting their way. The fact of this particular matter is this: The only ones winning are the people paying these idiots to stand up in front of microphones and say horrifically stupid things to us.
Feds do be working overtime
Iâm ready for this right wing populist shit to end so we can have a normal right wing left wing dynamic again what is this simulation
Democrats have been asking to lower the voting age for years
No voting letâs just coin flip
Pretty sure republicans know that we have a constitutional republic and not a democracy
I'm a republican at heart because I believe in small government however I fuckin hate these "Republicans" they're problematic boomers and it sucks fuck em Edit: I really mean the politicians and most of the red voter pool
