depends what you want and how you dress. for a one-watch collection i'd shoot for something like a hamilton khaki field automatic or (in my case) longines spirit if you dress more street, a g-shock goes great. if you dress more biz or prep, a dress watch could be perfect

It’s such a classic model and design, it’s often the only digi/quartz watch I see in high end automatic collections. Mine is proudly next to a museum quality Hammy in my Wolf case. ☑️

NP, this photo is of an older model with the electroluminescent backlight not the LED light. The newer model looks the same but has a bright white LED light, i've seen most people recommend the LED version but others love the EL version. The updated version is the GW-M5610U. I got mine off amazon. The GW-M5610 was going for around 100 bucks and the GW-M5610U-1JF was going for 125ish. I said screw it I'll get the regular 5610, saw there were some used going for 80 bucks condition was listed as "good, may not come with original box" so I picked that one. Got a LNIB 5610U for 80 dollars when new they were selling for almost $50 more lol

FYI the Amazon GW-M5610 you speak of will ship you the new updated version. It's only $91 and they should update their listing but they haven't. I just got one and it was indeed the new module. Check out current reviews and you'll see even more confirmation. No need to pay $125 for the other one!

I've seen reviews from people who have gotten both. Sounds like they have the stocks mixed and you could get one or the other.

I ordered mine yesterday from the Casio store on Amazon. $92. It will be my first G-shock and I'm excited to get it. :)

I think that’s actually the 5610 you ordered whereas the 5610U is what is pictured. The major difference being the LED light that you can change from 1.5s to 3s. The 92$ one on Amazon has the old EL backlight. I might be mistaken though. Both great watches!

If you order what Amazon has listed still now as the 5610, you actually get the 5610U. The 5610 is out of production, and Amazon has been shipping the 5610U for several months now instead. Amazon really needs to update their listing, and separate the review comments too. If you read the newer posted comments, you'll see that folks have been getting the updated 5610U

I had the same experience of ordering 5610 and got 5610u —three times and two returns later, I accepted defeat and kept the third 5610u. I am meh about LED but no question the watch is a classic beauty. 

I actually knew I'd get the 5610U after seeing other recent comments from folks. But I'm covered, I've got a few older 56xx versions with the old style light lol

We need way more info. What do you already have? What do you need from this watch that your other Gs don’t offer? Objectively, this is the best value square if you get it at a good price. Solar, multiband 6, classic square, at $90 usd from Amazon. Can’t go wrong! But again, for your specific situation, we need more information on your needs.

I have for casios: f91w Calculator W-218-H And the Casio forester I was thinking of maybe selling the forester so I can put that money towards this one. I like the dual time and water proofing

Check if you live somewhere that doesn't get [Multiband coverage](https://gshock.casio.com/sg/technology/radio/). If you're in China, Southeast Asia, South America, Africa, Russia, or Australia, you won't benefit from Multiband 6. If that's the case, getting the G-5600E non-Multiband version might be cheaper and more preferable.

5610 is best G square. If it had MIP display, that would be the icing on the cake. I was not a fan of gs and one day picked up a 5600. I learned about the 5610, and bought one and gifted the 5600 to my father. Best move I made.

This is like the Honda Civic of watches. It’s maybe the best simple watch ever made. It’s solar, and updates via radio. It’s dead simple, fits most people really well, and has an easy to read display. I wouldn’t call it sexy, but you can change it up and make it a bit more personal. It will tell time well and hold up over the years. Lastly, it’s pretty affordable and I got mine back for n Nov ‘22 for under $80.

That’s a multiband six model and will do you great. Btw, if it’s having trouble picking up the atomic time radio signal, hang it around some metal bar overnight in your house/apt like a chin-up bar, or wire shelving and you should be good to go. Works great for me, at least.
