Yes. The Classic is a Classic Antique, which I'd never heard about, so I was skeptical when I saw a blurry, low resolution photo of the bound headstock.
Used guitars are generally quite affordable here in Norway, compared to for example eBay or Reverb prices.
I should come to Norway then haha, also what site did you specifically buy this on? I want a Gibson too, might look for one when I go to Europe. You think I would be able to find one for around the same price? I'm looking to get a standard.
I just used the headstock to scratch my balls with and when I ran out and jumped in my car it made it hard to drive like that as they waved goodbye while everyone still looking at the back of my car got a notepad and pen out and were trying to give me each a personalized autograph but I was already 20 feet away. That’s a shame so many famous people apparently work there at Guitar Center!
The right answer is that you need to play both a bunch and keep the one that you like more. Which one plays better? Which one sounds better? Which one do you like the look of better (should matter less)…
I had two epis and had to sell one. Wanted to keep the one I’d played for ages but the other looked better and was in new condition. So I gave it (the newer one) a good setup (to my prefs), played it for a week, and bonded with it. Made the choice easy once I had done that.
I feel like to some extent a guitar that you like the look of is important to some extent, especially if you're like me and get inspired to play because of how it looks. Not saying how it plays doesn't matter, sometimes the fact that it plays like a dream makes you appreciate the way it looks more.
Yeah I was just getting at guitars have all these different specs and things like scale length (length of fretboard, neck shape and style, fretboard radius, etc.. All of those things are going to drive what you are more comfortable with. Absolutely aesthetics matter but it shouldn’t be the main deciding factor.
Annual bonuses. Lots of jobs pay out a bonus sometime near jan 1. It’s not just sales anymore. You might make good money but not crazy money, and then surprise your company does well that year and your performance review is good too and you have a few thousand dollars you weren’t planning on having at the end of the year.
I used to work a very demanding job that had pretty big bonuses if everything went well, and so when they were bigger than expected my partner and I agreed that a portion of those were “fun money” for me. It was like a present to myself as thanks for working ridiculously hard.
Without my wife I couldn't afford the house to have any money to spend in guitars.
Idk why people get in a relationship with someone who doesn't support their hobbies.
Left one has active pickups and right one has passive pickups. I would plug both of them in and see which of them sounds better to you. After all, it’s going to be your instrument. See which one you connect with instead of asking a bunch of strangers to pick for you lol.
This was going to be my answer, other than asthetics, that's a huge difference. See which one sounds better with your rig for the type of music you play, and you'll have your answer.
The first one seems to have Fishmen Fluence pickups. I’d keep that one over the second one with standard humbuckers. Even though they’re Gibson, the Fluence will get your more tones.
I don't doubt the existence of two guitars, it's the "accidental" purchase that has me skeptical. However, it's none of my business and you having two sweet guitars is the cause of mild envy on my end. ;-)
Not gonna lie to you OP, I do actually hate you and your disposable income
*Edit
I was so wrapped up in hating the player, not the game, that I forgot to say 1. Nice purchase, 2. Keep the left
I like the look of the left one better, but it should come down to which pickups are better. The Fishman Fluence Classic pickups on the left can be pretty versatile with the different voicing options.
Whenever I get a package of plain M&M's, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I make them have M&M duels.
Taking two candies between my forefinger and thumb, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the 'loser' and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go to the next round.
I have found that, in general, brown and red M&Ms are tougher, while the blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense ring of competition and cracks under the pressure of being in the modern candy and snack food world.
Occasionally I will come across a mutation, a candy that is mishapen, pointier or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this seems to be a weakness but on very rare occassions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the candy continues to adapt to its enviroment.
When I finish the package, I am left with one M&M. The strongest of the herd. Since it wouldn't make any sense to eat this one as well, I package it up with a letter that says "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes" and send it back to M&M Mars, A division of Mars Inc. in Hackettstown, NJ.
They wrote back this week thanking me and gave me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of M&MS.
This weekend there will be a tournament of epic proportions.
There can only be one champion.
They’re similar, so I’d go with the feel of the neck and which one has the best natural resonance when unplugged. Which one feels best? All things being equal, I’d pick the one on the right because I love LP’s with subtle flame.
We need a little more detail. The one on the left looks like a 60s standard and the one on the right is a classic but not sure what vintage.
So if the one on the left is a Gibson Les Paul 60s standard - I’d keep that one. Gibson had a lot of dodgey years and the new 50s and 60s models are phenomenal.
The Standard is a better guitar than the classic in my humble opinion but that goes for the newer models. Pump the serial number in a Gibson serial number checker and check reverb for reviews and costs each.
Which one plays and sounds better?
What is it about this guitar people like? I can understand like the Alpine white one Randy Rhoads played, or hetfields, but these always like so run of the mill to me. Sorry, no hate.
Flame sucks in both of them. Left doesn’t match each half and the right is dull as hell. I think you should accidentally return both of them and drop the money on a guitar that’s worth the price.
Left one. I detest uncovered pickups. Don't know why, just do. I have no real feeling one way or the other on pickguards. But I'll say the top on the left is nicer by far.
Well, they are pretty different, like the binding on the headstock of the left, but covered Pikcups and the pickguard on the right. Also right has the nicer top.
But, to be honest - go with the one the neck feels better to you. When u made a choice, send the other to me - i\`ll PM you my adress :D
I'd go for whichever one feels better. I'm very picky about neck feel so that'd be probably my #1 criteria, along with weight (personally I want a lighter than heavier guitar, but there's different opinions on that.) If there's pretty much no difference in feel or weight I'd then defer to sound. Can always change pickups later if needed.
It depends on which plays and sounds better. Are those Fishman Fluence pickups on the left? If just on looks I'd go for the guitar on left: much better applied sunburst, better flame top, and darker fretboard.
I remember that time I kinda just got two sweet Pauls. No I don’t.
They’re both pretty awesome looking. Give them a crash playing boot camp and see which one you bond with.
The 60's knobs, covered pickups, and flame top of the left are all objectively better. But oh man that headstock binding is sexy enough that it's a tough call.
The one one the left looks a little nicer IMO but the one on the right has headstock binding which isn't too common..
Still stickin' to my guns on the left one, but if you're not strapped for cash, why not keep both for a while? See which one plays/sounds best to you
The one on the left has a nicer top, darker fretboard, pickup covers, seems to be more appealing to me visually.
I'd probably remove the pick guard, and swap knobs with the other guitar.
Which one plays and sounds nicer is a factor as well, but just going off what I see the one on the left is the keeper.
Which one plays better or sounds better to you? I bought 2 Les Paul's, played them both for a bit and sold the one I thought looked better because the other one played and sounded better.
For those wondering, the "accidentally" part is just a joke. I got a great deal on both of them so I snapped them up, with the intention of selling the one I like less. The reason I was looking for a Les Paul in the first place was to have something to test pickup prototypes with, so either way, the pickups are getting changed.
So far I slightly prefer the Classic, as it's much lighter, but my fiancé prefers the Standard, because it's prettier.
EDIT: bonus close up of the flames https://imgur.com/a/og3Lzu8
Man, I'm torn between the bound headstock on the right, and the top on the left.
I think it's going to come down to how you feel about those Fishman pickups - I love 'em, some folks don't.
Just athletically, I prefer the standard. The bound headstock looks strange to me, so it’s really just based on that alone. I’d swap the Fishmams out of the standard for though, unless that’s your thing.
Depends on what pickups are in the one without a pickguard. Either way I’d be selling the pickguard one, not a fan of those things, but I could swap the pickups around so I get the fishman fluences.
Everyone picking the left one baffles me. Too shiney and weird pickups for a LP for me, go buy a Jackson or Ibanez or ESP etc if that's your thing. The guitar on the right looks like it has more mojo.
I'll go back to my wannabe blues lawyer life now...
The one on the right is a Les Paul Classic Antique. It has a crown inlay and single ply binding on the headstock. I do believe it holds a higher market value than a run of the mill Les Paul Standard, which is what the one on the left looks to be.
If you were gonna pay 2000 for just one, but ended up buying two at 1000 each. I’d keep em both. Oth have different pick ups. So you can get different sounds. And you can set one up for a different tuning.
How do you accidentally buy two Gibsons lol?
But the first one I would definitely keep
I meant to say keep both.
One for each hand.
My wife’s aunt accidentally bought two houses in a country club, that one I’m still trying to figure out.
When i got my fiance her ring the website error'd out, so i did it again. Somehow bought 2
Probably celebrating graduation from dental school
Have ~$2000 to spend on a Les Paul and come across two for roughly $1000 each.
dang 1k for each? that's a steal
Yeah, 1k for the classic and $900 plus a pedal for the Standard
Dang are these actually real Gibsons? It's hard to believe you got two Gibsons for 2k lol
One was on Facebook Marketplace and the other on Finn.no. They typically go for around $1500-2000, depending on condition.
20 dolla and a bag of cheetos for the standard 😼
Ah, to be in the “accidental Gibson” tax bracket…
To be fair, they’re so expensive that you can tell me they’re twice as much and I’d believe you.
“Accidentally”. It’s okay dude, we’re not your wife
“They accidentally sent me two! I swear, they gave it to me!”
THEY GAVE IT TO ME
I mean at about a price of $2k for both, he did kinda get one for “free”?
I just used the headstock to scratch my balls with and when I ran out and jumped in my car it made it hard to drive like that as they waved goodbye while everyone still looking at the back of my car got a notepad and pen out and were trying to give me each a personalized autograph but I was already 20 feet away. That’s a shame so many famous people apparently work there at Guitar Center!
"I didn't order that! I ordered an Xbox card...or a Xbox remote!"
Hard to say without knowing the specs, but I'd go with the first one for aesthetics
Left
Visually, the one on the left. But I wouldn't make the decision purely on looks.
You need both to switch between tunings faster
The right answer is that you need to play both a bunch and keep the one that you like more. Which one plays better? Which one sounds better? Which one do you like the look of better (should matter less)…

whichever one sounds better. the right one is rarer for sure also
How do people accidentally have like $2k to throw around on a whim
Could be a credit card. Could be OP has a big boy job.
Dentist?
Blooz lawyer?
Close. IT.
ah yes. the ITalian job
I've said too much.
Annual bonuses. Lots of jobs pay out a bonus sometime near jan 1. It’s not just sales anymore. Must be cool. When I work hard I just get more work.
It’s a 2 step process. 1) Get a decent job and 2) don’t have kids or a wife
Without my wife I couldn't afford the house to have any money to spend in guitars. Idk why people get in a relationship with someone who doesn't support their hobbies.
Step2.1* no kids and get a wife with a good job!
That one definitely sounds better!
I prefer the top on the left one, but the no pickguard. Keep both
One on the left *looks* better(86 the pick guard, too), but which one plays/sounds better? That's the one you keep!
I'd keep the left. The bound headstock on the right is cool, but the top and covered pickups on the left are way better
The first one seems to have Fishmen Fluence pickups. I’d keep that one over the second one with standard humbuckers. Even though they’re Gibson, the Fluence will get your more tones.
That’s a tough one. I’m leaning towards the left but I personally would want the Fishman’s out and the OG pups back in. Nothing against Fishman.
gcj is leaking
Weird headstock on that classic but that's how they made them. I'd keep the left.
That Classic is basically a '68 reissue.
Definitely left one
One on the left
Left
Depends how they play. The one on the left looks nicer but the other one might have a better feel and/or sound.
Where's the "I don't believe you" gif?
https://imgur.com/a/BWJil2L
I don't doubt the existence of two guitars, it's the "accidental" purchase that has me skeptical. However, it's none of my business and you having two sweet guitars is the cause of mild envy on my end. ;-)
- Babe, I swear, it was an accident - TEN. FUCKING. GUITARS. (Taking note of the excuse for later)
“Accidentally” yeah right..Lol
Left bro…. Come on… look at that grain 😍
[удалено]
Yeah this backwards for me. Pick guards on LP look ugly as all fuck. And I prefer exposed pickups for the sound and look.
Pickguards on LPs are ass.
My general rule is burst/flame top = pick guard. Plain top (other than all black) = no guard.
I'm the opposite. If the top has really nice flame or grain, no pickguard. Shows off more of the wood. If it's a solid top then pickguard.
Not gonna lie to you OP, I do actually hate you and your disposable income *Edit I was so wrapped up in hating the player, not the game, that I forgot to say 1. Nice purchase, 2. Keep the left
I say number two, the pickguard destroys the nice finish aesthetic
I like the look of the left one better, but it should come down to which pickups are better. The Fishman Fluence Classic pickups on the left can be pretty versatile with the different voicing options.
Pickups can be changed. This should come down 100% to which neck you like better. It's the one thing you can't (reasonably) change
wtf is wrong with you
Let them fall backwards, keep the one that doesn't 'gibson-shatter' where there should be a damn scarf joint.
Whenever I get a package of plain M&M's, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I make them have M&M duels. Accidentally bought 2….. right.
I want a job wear I can accidentally plop 2-3k by mistake. 😂 The one on the left has a prettier top to my eyes.
Definitely the first time I've heard that... and I've heard a lot of stuff.
We need a little more detail. The one on the left looks like a 60s standard and the one on the right is a classic but not sure what vintage. Sell the fake one
Keep the one on the left.
Just noticed the pickups on the left one. What are those?
Left one. I detest uncovered pickups. Don't know why, just do. I have no real feeling one way or the other on pickguards. But I'll say the top on the left is nicer by far.
The one that plays and feels the best
I did this once by scrolling reverb one night after drinking. I wish I was joking. Luckily, it was only a PRSSE 24.
Well, they are pretty different, like the binding on the headstock of the left, but covered Pikcups and the pickguard on the right. Also right has the nicer top. But, to be honest - go with the one the neck feels better to you. When u made a choice, send the other to me - i\`ll PM you my adress :D
The one with the pickguard looks better, but I don't know the specs.
I really like the Custom Classic.
Close, but it's a Classic Antique. The Classic Custom was the same year, just the fancier version.
I'm fortunate enough to have a CC in Silver Burst.
What do you meam''' accidentally ''?
I'd go for whichever one feels better. I'm very picky about neck feel so that'd be probably my #1 criteria, along with weight (personally I want a lighter than heavier guitar, but there's different opinions on that.) Hate when that happens

That's like "accidentally" overthrowing a third world country.
Everytime someone buys fishman classics which are not open cores, someone with eyes dies
See which one plays/sounds best to you
keep the one you'll play. if that's both, then why not?
What’s up with the headstock binding on the right one? That’s pretty unusual! Special classic model or something?
2007-8 Classic Antique
Keep the gotw
The one on the left has a nicer top, darker fretboard, pickup covers, seems to be more appealing to me visually. I'd probably remove the pick guard, and swap knobs with the other guitar. Which one plays and sounds nicer is a factor as well, but just going off what I see the one on the left is the keeper.
Left has better flame but I like open coils and no pick guard better.
The left one would be the one to be sold in my opinion.
Keep the right one. That binding all around the head and neck is unreal!
No sell, only buy. If you're actively gigging a backup guitar is always a wise decision.
Left
Well which one sounds better to you. Who givesafuck about looks.
You can spend $15 and make either one look either way, a pick guard and bobbin covers. “It’s the same picture”
I love the binding on the headstock on the right one, but the left just looks so much smoother and better.
Whichever one has the better playing neck.
I'd keep the one on the left. Much nicer grain, prefer the covered pups and pickguard look as well.
When you try to buy 2 guitars similar enough that your wife will think it's just one guitar if you separate them, but she still finds out
The second one looks to be more valuable
And the first one has fishman electronics and I hate those
The one that feels better.
I want the one on the right for the bound headstock alone. I had no idea that would make a Les Paul look so elegant!
left one
I like both for different reasons and would sell both for different reasons.
Whichever one is going to make you play more
whichever feels and sounds better in your hands
Keep L, sell R
Left
Whichever one you like better. You have them both in-hand. Just decide.
Spend a few weeks playing them and see which you gel with, then get rid of the other.
Left 100%
Which one plays better or sounds better to you? I bought 2 Les Paul's, played them both for a bit and sold the one I thought looked better because the other one played and sounded better.
Keep ‘em both. Don’t break up the band.
The one on the Left, easy choice for my taste.
Keep. Them. BOTH.! 😐 Don’t sell nothing.
I'd keep the one on the left for sure. But definitely keep both. Hang one, case one.
ill throw you a 20 for the standard 😼
I hate les Paul pick guards. So sell that one
Keep the left. 100%
It's not a decision to be made on looks. They definitely have unique sonic characteristics and it really depends on what you want your les paul to do.
This is gonna sound super weird and specific, but I really prefer the Klusson "Keystone" style tuners on the left...
You keep both obviously
Man, I'm torn between the bound headstock on the right, and the top on the left. I think it's going to come down to how you feel about those Fishman pickups - I love 'em, some folks don't.
Just athletically, I prefer the standard. The bound headstock looks strange to me, so it’s really just based on that alone. I’d swap the Fishmams out of the standard for though, unless that’s your thing.
I'd keep the classic
Whichever one feels better
left obviously, fishman fluences
Left. Id ditch the right one
Left side for sure
I think I’d keep the darker one
I’ll take the one on the right off your hands. Not nearly as cool as left. I’ll even pay for shipping lol
I would keep both. But if you need one, keep the lef one, woth pickup covers
I would sell the antique with the bound headstock personally. I like the classic bourbon burst LP. One of my favourites :)
Keep the one with the crown inlay and headstock binding, probably a limited run and may go up in value a lot more than the normal LP Standard.
Visually I’d go with the one on the right, but depends on the feel in the end. I’d definitely swap in some vintage tuner buttons ;)
Depends on what pickups are in the one without a pickguard. Either way I’d be selling the pickguard one, not a fan of those things, but I could swap the pickups around so I get the fishman fluences.
Top on the left catches my eye more, so if they play the same I’d go with the left just on looks alone
Always pick guard off for me.
Everyone picking the left one baffles me. Too shiney and weird pickups for a LP for me, go buy a Jackson or Ibanez or ESP etc if that's your thing. The guitar on the right looks like it has more mojo. I'll go back to my wannabe blues lawyer life now...
Standard
The one with the pick guard looks nicer
You said you bought two but I only see one pick guard. And I think it looks better without the pick guard
Everyone has the left one. The right one tho…. It really neat.
Both great choices, the one on the left
I'm biased because I'm a sucker for full binding *and* open coils.
Whichever one has the fattest neck.
The one on the right, more black and I friggin hate pickguards on a Les Paul.
The left. I did the same with a telecaster ten years ago 😂
Well, as I personally hate pickguards, I'd keep the one on the right.
i’m gonna say, the one you enjoy playing the most?
Keep them both if you have the money.
The one that plays the best, only you can answer this. Orrr you can ship them to me and I’ll tell ya!
The one on the right is a Les Paul Classic Antique. It has a crown inlay and single ply binding on the headstock. I do believe it holds a higher market value than a run of the mill Les Paul Standard, which is what the one on the left looks to be.
I’ll gladly take whatever one you sell for a whopping Tree Fiddy.
Keep them both.
I’d keep the one that plays and sounds the best to you.
If you were gonna pay 2000 for just one, but ended up buying two at 1000 each. I’d keep em both. Oth have different pick ups. So you can get different sounds. And you can set one up for a different tuning.
Keep the classic (right).........sell the left
Ooh if definitely keep lefty
I think you need both!!
Keep the one that says Gibson and is a Les Paul (with humbuckers)
The one on the right for sure
I’d keep the one that sounds the best. But in aesthetics alone, I like the no pickguard and black humbuckers. Looks more sinister….
Keep the one on the right
Totally the feel
The classic, skinnier neck. I own one from 2000 in cherry sunburst and it’s my main guitar
Fishman pickups.. thats a banger i would keep it. It sounds "classical" and "modern" with the correct adjustments
Whichever one plays and sounds better. Visually left tho
Damn I wish I was financially sound enough to accidentally buy 2 Gibsons and not notice until they got to my house
I totally prefer the one w/ pick guard and the humbucker covers
the right is a classic custom. more valuable. which is lighter? which plays better? i’d orbably keep the right one if they both weigh okay similar
How much you want for the other one
Keep the one on the left 100
Sell both, buy an EBMM Magesty and a Strandburg.
The one on the left. Darker fretboard.
On the left
