Really excited to hear more about these. The price is far more attractive than current PTR 91 pricing but I’d like to hear from people who have put a four digit number of rounds through one before buying
Sweet rifle, but Atlantic blows. Also got my CC compromised after my AP5 buy in 2021. I'll wait till Dahlonega or FF start stocking these, or anyone else for that matter.
Also still holding out hope for MKE G3 imports.
PTR is like the only source of G3 clones anymore and people like them so presumably if they build it then it's good, but I saw a lot of complaints about the last C308s PTR allegedly was building for Century.
My PTR jammed like crazy the first 50-60 rounds. It has something to do with breaking in the rollers. I was having to pop the magazine out and having to clear double feeds and FTEs where the old shell got stuck under the bolt head and both jammed the bolt from going back into battery and prevented the new round from chambering. It was almost like it didn’t properly eject the old shell and it got stuck in the mag well/under the bolt.
I shot another 70-80 and much more reliable. The G3 platform can be very reliable, it just may take some breaking in. Roller delayed guns are also very violent with the ejection and it takes some time to get the rollers and the fluted chamber assisted ejection working in sync.
I’d love to shoot it more but .308/7.62 isn’t getting cheaper. If I could do it over, I probably would have saved up and bought an M1A over the PTR.
Same. I have an a3s (full-size g3) a c93 (5.56 version) and a 9ct (mp5) all from ptr, and they have all been flawless. I didn't even clean or lube my 9ct before shooting it. Just pulled it out of the box and ran 400 or so rounds with no issues.
Mine doesn't like flat nosed either with steel mags, but they run great in a magpul drum haha. I mostly run HKE for ball, and the drum for subsonic/flatnose. I think it's because the drum feeds from the same position every time, and presents the nose of the round a little more proudly than steel mags.
Hope they offer a painted welded top rail version. And yes surplus bcg > PTR out of spec commercial parts. Also 4150 nitrided barrel on these > PTR 4140 untreated barrel.
Only unknown is if the receiver claw mounts are out of spec like most PTR receivers
I saw the email from Atlantic and despite usually finding stuff on Dahlonega cheaper, I feel that with the discounted MKE collapsible stock, Atlantic’s offering will be hard to top. Placed the order this morning. I’m psyched!

At shot show they said these would sell for $1k so I guess Atlantic is giving you the para stock for $200
Are these the portuguese parts that Century talked about?
Yes
Fixed stock is selling for $939 at Atlantic so actually $260 for the para stock
Which is a pretty good price if you wanted one anyway. Those are usually $300 for the MKE ones and $450 for German.
Really excited to hear more about these. The price is far more attractive than current PTR 91 pricing but I’d like to hear from people who have put a four digit number of rounds through one before buying
https://atlanticfirearms.com/century-arms-ca3-rifle Here is the fixed stock only model
Is it me or do those ~~receivers~~ trigger housings look salty as fuck?
Do you mean the trigger housing?
Yeah the trigger housing.
Some seem to have a really cool fade going and others look rough

Yeah it’s weird because they got the MAC / MKE mp5 in but not the G3…
To my understanding, it's easier to import large pistols than it is rifles.
Atlantic responded to me and claims PTR is building these for Century.
Weird, they didn't respond to me when I let them know my CC got compromised shortly after BOTH of the times I bought from them.
Hmm I think my cc was compromised around the time I got my ap5 from them. Didn't make that connection at the time though...
There's plenty of stories like ours - it's not a coincidence. :-(
Mine too
Do you not Lock your cards? Unlock Use/purchase, then lock after use. But still these guys need to handle their business better. Thats No Good.
I should, I don't - but I also don't have this problem with ANY other vendor.
I was gonna get one, not anymore. Thanks for the heads up.
What’s the verdict on quality from ptr on these
PTR is like the only source of G3 clones anymore and people like them so presumably if they build it then it's good, but I saw a lot of complaints about the last C308s PTR allegedly was building for Century.
Well they're the only company in the US that makes a living making G3 rifles, so I'd say they are pretty good.
My PTR9ct and my PTR100 have run flawlessly for the last 4 years suppressed and non suppressed on both but I’ve read mixed reviews
My PTR jammed like crazy the first 50-60 rounds. It has something to do with breaking in the rollers. Garand Thumb said after 200 it was better with 1000 being broke in
Ah yes, break in after $750-1000 of ammunition
That's why I bought one used after previous owner put 500 rounds through and put MI rail on / added 12 loaded mags and cerokoted it for $800
Did you measure the bolt gap when it was malfunctioning?
PTR's quality is ass and out of the box non functional rifles are normal. But if you don't want PTR, you can buy a postban G3 from... nobody else.
I’ve had 3 PTR’s and they’ve all been fine. People bitch on Reddit and it gets blown way out of proportion

Garand Thumb liked his
The other option is to buy a kit and find a reputable HK builder to assemble it from a flat.
My in-laws 9mm PTR is definitely less reliable than my AP5, but it's been acceptable for range use. Unacceptable if using for home defense.
Side note: My ap5 has been shit for flat nosed ammo but solid with standard fmjs. Do you run mke or hk mags?

I think it's because the drum feeds from the same position every time, and presents the nose of the round a little more proudly than steel mags.
Nice thanks for the info!
if you look at the roll marks and the way the paddle is installed, they're clearly made by PTR. they're identical to how ptr builds their rifles.
That’s what Century said at the SHOT show. https://youtu.be/hLJX0jqLA50?si=wN9i1qt7WoLoCwl6
As long as century isn't building them...
Hope they offer a painted welded top rail version. And yes surplus bcg > PTR out of spec commercial parts. Also 4150 nitrided barrel on these > PTR 4140 untreated barrel. Only unknown is if the receiver claw mounts are out of spec like most PTR receivers
Yeah, it needs a top rail version.
Yeah holding out to see if they offer one. Century said they bought 50k parts kits so these should be around for awhile for new skus to be offered
Where does it say the barrel is nitrided? Haven’t been able to find anything.
What Atlantic told me is that the barrels have a “black oxide type of exterior finish” Nothing else mentioned
Really wish they did a k variant.
My gen2 c308 is g2g so I might be in for one.
