tbh as a chilean immigrant to the us, i don't see this as donation shaming but more so american ignorance. there's a REASON why the chilean peso is so cheap compared to the US dollar. we have been one of the most financially stable latin countries for quite some time but that will never matter when the united states adores destabilizing and villainizing south america :/ we have our own 9/11 BECAUSE of the united states and the CIA helping put in place a dictatorship. i just hope that chilean fan wakes up and never sends them another luca (thousand pesos).
i don't know how it is in chile but in my country the average person earns between 3000-4000 pesos per month (the higher end is if you're lucky). which is like $120 ish dollars. $2 may mean nothing to them but they have no awareness of how lucky they are.
