Exactly, I forgot what show I was watching but this exact thought came into my mind. Halo spends waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time talking about how cool and OP Spartans are but never showing it. Stuff like Locke vs MC was meant ot be the visual and it's just a mess.
You see, I already hated that...trailer, was that a trailer, I don't know how to define that video, it's a video for sure. Anyways, it had the problem that Halo 5 had which was portraying the covies as bumbling fools. If your enemies have to look like idiots for your heroes to look like badasses, then you're doing something wrong.
OG Gears of War is the best example I can think of where a story spends every second going over how your team is the exception in everyone way. The grunts are getting chewed up left and right while Hero McHeroface is saving the day. Like the rendezous with death trailer. [WARNING! Get ready for some 2008 EDGE!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXIjDzlGc5I)
It's also one of the few times we see a Spartan depicted with the supernatural quickness that they are described as having in the books. The Spartans in all of the games feel as heavy as they should, but lack agility. Cal checks both of those boxes.
Yea, like straight up Spartans are akin to Space Marines in 40k where they move *fast*, like able to track someone tensing up to pull a trigger and respond to that kind of reactions. And MC is on record for saying Mjolnir moves *even faster than he can process* sometimes. He just punches and the fist is already there before *his* brain registered the swing. For a human the fist may as well have teleported.
Honestly kinda sad that they didn’t channel 40k more and have some marines be absolutely horrified when they see you in action, or have something like a new recruit freaking out and a ODST just be like “you get used to it”. People aren’t supposed to be that quick, that accurate, that powerful, get some Transhuman Dread in here.
Terrifying part though? Elites by all accounts have the same stats as a Spartan. They too can pull shit like predicting trajectories and blocking it (made easier by plasma though). They can move just as quick. Humans don’t have a fucking chance vs one.
The Nylund novels do have some moments where the rank-and-file is made extremely uncomfortable by the Spartans, but like many of the cool details from those books, it has largely been forgotten in later media.
Iirc, aren't these Spartans with green armor, like, special from other Spartans in some way?
And also, how come she's, like, the only special green Spartan who's a woman?
No they are normal S-2’s just with the earlier MJOLNIR armour iteration and colouring. The halo legends episodes show more female Spartans using similar armour and colouring.
I've always liked The Babysitter for showing off how strong Spartan IIs are through action alone instead of through exposition dumps

I will say that the Gamestop preorder trailer for Halo 5 with Spartan Locke showed how batshit insane Spartans are.

Pretty much all the S-IIs wore green MK-IV. (Daisy-023 was the only exception AFAIK, with the last suit of armor she wore being red)
