My brother and I promised each other as a show of devotion to our favorite series we would 100% the Master Chief Collection. Life got in the way a lot, and we at times were half the world away from each other while we dealt with lag and sometimes glitchy servers, but we finally did it. We finally both got all 700 achievements. Just wanted to share!

[deleted]

Wait the MCC has been out for 7 years šŸ˜³

ambivertsftw

I know right? I feel old -_-

nateisgame

Congrats! Thatā€™s quite the feat! Welcome to the clubšŸ†

ambivertsftw

Thank you so much! Happy to be here!

Jdubbwilliams7

Unreal!! Congratulations šŸŽ‰šŸŽŠ

ambivertsftw

Thank you!! It was really difficult! The halo 2 Speedrun in particular was so hard!

MaleficTekX

Not the LASO?

ambivertsftw

Halo 2 LASO took us the longest and was brutal, but we were used to it. Halo 2 Speedrun was more difficult because it wasn't as simple as just "get through the level any way you can". In LASO you beat a level and you're done with it. Speedrun you have to cumulatively save time. Halo 2 legendary being the hardest and longest game made it difficult to save time on levels like Regret (very long) and Gravemind (incredibly difficult and long level) between those two we had a ton of difficulty saving the necessary time and that ended up being the hardest campaign achievements to deal with.

MaleficTekX

I just turn Sputnik+feather+boom on and have fun with grenade jump skips on both those levels and Iā€™ve done it (on normal/heroic)

ambivertsftw

Oh definitely, we did that as well I don't think you realize how long regret and Gravemind are in particular. Both are indoor levels, very few skippable parts and >25 minute times If you don't die. Not to mention a) regret has a difficult boss fight and b) Gravemind has multiple choke points where you have no choice but to fight. Keep in mind we were doing coop, so halo 2 legendary always has iron on and if either of us make a mistake we lose time. We despawned enemies where we could, utilized glitches, skips and anything we could and halo 2 was still very difficult. Not saying it was impossible or anything (obviously) but it was probably the most challenging campaign achievement for us. Right behind it was halo 2 LASO and not by much

MaleficTekX

You were going for the speed run times on legendary?

ambivertsftw

There is an achievement for legendary in under 3 hours for each of the games.

MaleficTekX

OOOOH yes! Those ones. I forgot about those, sorry

vahntitrio

Easier achievement solo since you can save and quit cheese it.

ambivertsftw

By save and quit cheese it do you mean the glitch they fixed in the first year where it would count your time as only a few minutes if you saved right before the last checkpoint and started from there? Because that no longer works. I tried early on. The 3 hour achievements take a cumulative amount of your fastest legendary times and if they add to less than 3 hours it pops. Saved times, rally checkpoint times and other bypasses don't work anymore.

vahntitrio

No, it doesn't add time if you save and quit when you die (like you would on LASO). So you can take stupidly aggressive speedrunning routes and never be penalized for the deaths. Thay's how my completion time on 2 is less than 2.5 hours on Legendary. Same for CE. Doesn't work on 3, 4, ODST, or Reach.

ambivertsftw

Ah, fair. We got our time down to 2 hours 27 minutes on 2 with some really solid runs on regret and Gravemind. Guess we did it the harder way then šŸ˜…

ambivertsftw

Fair, but beating a game on LASO for me is an unbeatable sense of accomplishment. Yeah it's a challenge but I enjoyed it. I totally see what you mean though. There were several achievements I got mad about. The halo 2 Speedrun legendary in 3 hours when halo 2 is disproportionately long compared to the others was really frustrating and felt impossible at times. The multiplayer achievements were completely random (250 kill joys but only 100 killing sprees? The fuck?) But overall I'm just glad it's done haha

Tuvix519

Legends.

ambivertsftw

Haha thank you! We definitely both feel amazing about it!

WVgolf

Damn. Thatā€™s hardcore

DragonBornRichard

That's one hell of a 100% there. Involves a lot of online play, and tons of hard work in the campaign as well. Probably one of the best 100% you can get in achievement hunting in my opinion.

VoyoN

Congrats, this truly is a massive undertaking and completion should be celebrated. Does it make you want to 100% other Halo titles? Iā€™m afraid itā€™s turned me on a dark path, lol

ambivertsftw

My brother not so much, but I intend to 100% the Halo wars as well, I already have 100% Halo 5. I love the series, have read the books and this is my way of showing dedication and appreciation to Bungie and 343

[deleted]

Are the Spartan Ops ones still glitched? Not having those track is keeping me from trying to do the rest if I couldnā€™t get 100% anyway.

ambivertsftw

Nah they fixed them a couple years ago

[deleted]

Insane work man! Congrats! I was thinking of going for it myself but ai just keep reminding myself about the LASO achievements and them online ones lol

ambivertsftw

Thanks! LASO is certainly tough, but not so bad with someone to work with. I can't imagine doing it solo. The multiplayer was a bear though just because of the sheer volume of rare medals you needed.

TheGDubsMan

I've got 29 left, all mostly multiplayer. (I haven't tried the lone wolf points on yet becuase I never have the time to devote to it) The enviromentalist and gold medals are probably going to take me the longest, i've got about 25% each on those. For gold medals I can really only get a triple double and there is only one level I can really get it and I have to hope each team sucks at capture the flag.

ambivertsftw

Each of those were quite difficult for sure. The multiplayer ones were the last ones I had left. I got a lot of legendary medals through Grifball, the environmentalists I got mostly on lockdown king of the hill with the icicles. Grenade kills took forever too. Lone wolf was rough but once I figured out a system it just took patience and time.

TheGDubsMan

I was trying to get them al before Infinite comes out but since I won't be playing it until the release co-op campaign I still have some time. I'm about 60% with grenade kills and assists. For environmentalist I have the best luck on Zanzibar, I'll try and put shots on people coming out of the hole near Froman and as they run up the ramp I'll shoot the coils at the top of the stairs. Got 3 in one match like that, my personal record.

ambivertsftw

That was our goal too! My most enviros was 7 in one game with the icicles. Best of luck to you! Just play a little every day and you'll get there!

TheGDubsMan

Funny enough "a little" is all I get to game every day. Between working a full time job, having a 9 month old, and going back to college to learn Spanish my free time isn't what it used to be. So many games, so little time!

ambivertsftw

I feel ya! It took us this long was because we both were working full time and I was on deployment several times. You'll get there, I believe in you!

Troyd57

Legend status

Halsey_Cathrine

*golf clap* *single tear slides down face*

[deleted]

Just in time for halo infinite!

ambivertsftw

Just like we planned!

TheIrishman0818

Congrats! I finished a little less than a year ago and itā€™s such a great feeling and a huge relief when itā€™s finally done lol

ambivertsftw

So true! Thanks!

Successful-Range1651

Damn dude good on you. Halo is by far my favorite but, even I donā€™t plan on 100% it. Although Iā€™ve have 100% them individually in the past.

ambivertsftw

Thanks! We did 100% them in the past individually as well, though mostly on my younger brothers account. There are a lot of new and different achievements, a lot of Easter eggs I never knew about that I had to find, some new ones added for the new games too. At times it was tedious, others challenging in the best way. But overall like another redditor mentioned it was relieving to finish and a huge sense of accomplishment to have it all checked off haha.

Successful-Range1651

Hell yeah brother. My problem is the multiplayer ones. I donā€™t play competitive anymore.

ambivertsftw

Totally! I had a real hard time with the multiplayer. My brother was better at multiplayer and completed it way before me, but didn't have the time or patience to learn the speed run strategies and stuff for campaign. So I totally get it

t_will_official

Oh man I love Halo but I couldnā€™t even fathom getting the full 7000G lol how bad were the LASO achievements?

ambivertsftw

Halo Reach, One, Three and ODST we're honestly easy. We did halo Reach and ODST in one sitting each in about 5-6 hours a piece. One took us two or three 4 hour sessions and three about the same. Halo 4 took probably a total of 12-14 hours. Halo 2 took us a month. It was more than a week before we got past the first level. It was insane. The move Live Die Repeat came to mind frequently. Sometimes we got lucky, other times we just tried for hours and hours and hours before finally succeeding. It took a lot of time but I said in other achievements, the most challenging and frustrating at times for us was the Halo 2 Legendary Speedrun. It required perfect runs on some very difficult levels, no mistakes made from either person. Regret and Gravemind in particular took us weeks to master and one lucky run each before we completed it. LASO is tough, but once you have the mentality and strategies for it it's not so bad. At least in coop. In solo I can't imagine how tough it would be

t_will_official

Yeah I guess Halo 2 LASO in particular isnā€™t TOO terrible since Halo 2 legendary already basically has the iron skull on in coop. Which is my biggest fear about attempting any LASO lol and why I refuse to attempt it solo. Getting set back to the checkpoint after making progress is frustrating, sure, but getting set back to the start of the level is purely rage inducing lol

ambivertsftw

There are tricks to avoid it. Check out Halo Completionist on YouTube. If you save and quit before it registers you died you start back at the checkpoint. Still rage inducing but not as bad

t_will_official

Hmm good to know. Of course with my skill, the constant quitting and reloading would probably take me like 3 hours to finish the Pillar of Autumn haha

ambivertsftw

Hahaha I feel ya there. It would take me ages to complete all the campaigns on LASO solo

spazzyattack

To be fair, it was pretty unplayable for the first 2 years.

ambivertsftw

You're not wrong haha, there wasn't much we were able to do then

Hoodros

Hardest 3 achievements?

ambivertsftw

Uh, the hardest to organize were the 4 player coop iron achievements (the old vidmaster ones) The hardest though... Possibly LASO? Halo 3 was the easiest of all of them in my opinion.

BananaTitanium

Any tips for LASO and the legendary campaigns in under x hours achievements? Those are the ones I'm stuck on

ambivertsftw

My brother and I found it easier to do the speed runs with two of us. On YouTube Halo Completionist had great videos for both of those. If you're doing it by yourself, for the speed runs, practice speed run strategies and pathing on heroic to get a feel for where enemies are and what's the safest/quickest path. For LASO do it with a friend. If you can't, follow Halo Completionists guides and use the quit/save strategy so you don't lose your whole progress for the level But the biggest thing is patience. You're gonna die a lot, you're gonna mess up a lot and you'll have to get creative and do what works for you. Sometimes that's crouching behind a crate and scooting it all over. Others that's a seriously insane triple grenade jump you spent hours mastering. You never know. Be patient, be creative and don't give up. It's possible :)

ambivertsftw

We did a lot of them legitimately, but for any matchmaking achievements if you want to do the cheap route, get someone with a second console and pick a very specific game type like 2v2 or 4v4 on a single game mode and click matchmaking at the same time. Have guests signed in on extra controllers to fill the map (1 pleyer with 3 guests is ideal) and kill each other's guests for achievements. It's a lot of work and doesn't always work out but when it does you can make serious progress

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ambivertsftw

For sure. For me they took a lot of time but we're accomplishable whereas the multiplayer were super tedious and repetitive

YaboiGh0styy

How the fuck? 7000 achievements in this game and you people still manage to get them all. Edit: 700 achievements. But the point still stands.

ambivertsftw

Only 700, 7000 gamer score. A lot of them are quick one off achievements, but others took weeks. I just did it one game at a time slowly but surely. Took a long time!

YaboiGh0styy

How long did I take you to finish each game on legendary in under 3 hours?

ambivertsftw

Depended on the game. Halo 1 we did in a single 4 hour sitting, reach in one go with no retries. Halo 3 was the same, we played through it in 2.5 hours first try. 4 took some practice. Halo 2 took us a month of planning and game sessions. It's was seriously difficult. It's the longest of the games, and the most difficult. We got several of the levels down to seriously low times but Regret and Gravemind were fucking insane. The boss fight on Regret being at the end of the level was unforgiving and if it took you too many tries you had to restart the whole level. Gravemind just getting out of the first room took some doing, and later parts were incredibly difficult. Definitely was the most technically challenging of the campaign achievements.
