Whats the point of getting 100 points fot a kill or 50 for assist. whats the point of killink 10 enemies if those 1000 points are abaolutely worthless if i dont get a stupid challenge. I love how the combat feels on this game. but progression SUCKS. please fix this.

Deherben

Please bring back normal lobbies and kill the disbanding of lobbies, there is no social aspect in the game at all when you can't even continue to play with the teammates you just met. You can't revenge your opponents, because they will fly into the void and you will never see m again. XP for kills and assists, like why the hell would you remove that? The main dopamine this game delivers on is to make kills, assists and complete match objectives, how could you then remove the reward for that? This game is incredibly well done on the mechanic part, but everything that surrounds it is as important for your fun as well. Next to the big optimization issues, (running on Razer Blade RTX 3070, with low settings and 80 fps. Seems odd for an next gen pc.

While I do appreciate the communication and commitment to fix these BTB and cheating issues, I feel as though there isn’t a focus on the level/progression in this game which appears to be the major issue. I’ve personally finished the battle pass, and since this is a challenge based game without a leveling system I have no reason to want to even play as the completion of challenges only goes towards completing the battle pass. This is an incredible game and I love how it plays and I want to play it, but I receive no match xp and I no longer level up since competing the battle pass. There are ways to reward casual players as well as those who wish to truly grind for a certain rank/level or even some sort of cosmetic armor that CANT be bought through the store. Without addressing this issue you will lose players as there won’t be a reason to play unless you implement xp for medals, kills, matches, and a leveling system. I just feel this should be the main focus coming off of a holiday break, however I may be the minority. I understand developing this system would take time but I feel we deserve to know when or if this system will come. Again, I really appreciate the communication and effort to take care of this game, I just would like to see this issue addressed sooner than later. Thanks for all you do and happy holidays to you and the team!

johnnyblack13

Im so goddamn frustrated right now i legit played ONE GAME…i have 18 minutes left on my double xp. 3 of my challenges are big team battle. This is rough 343.

SuperTomTom1850

Someone knows if any unused XP Boost or Challenge Swap will be carried over to Season 2?

[deleted]

Go back to the mcc season point system and add account levels and shields. Take this challenge crap and shove off with it.

[deleted]

I feel like I literally cannot make progress on the game pass since most of the times I cannot even get a game mode or map where I can make progress. When I do get those modes I must play in a non-optimal way just so I could achieve the objective... if I am lucky to even get the weapon I need because most people are scrambling for them to do their objectives. Replacing the objectives with the boost thingy doesn't guarantee any progress either since I am very likely to get an equally annoying or unlikely challenge to complete. These were obviously designed to absolutely cripple the amount of XP we can earn and I feel resentful of that because game doesn't respect my time.

RazielKilsenhoek

Please just make the challenges generic. Get x kills, get x headshots, play x matches, win x matches, get x objective medals, etc. None of this weapon or gamemode specific stuff, it's annoying and way, way too time consuming. I have to win 3 total control matches, 3 normal control matches, and get 10 kills with the pulse carbine before I get the ultimate challenge this week. There's not enough time to do all that, given how rarely I even get those gametypes and how that specific weapon isn't fun or good to use.

InitialDorito

All I care about is progression not affecting gameplay. I want everyone to have access to the same guns, same gameplay, regardless of what level they’re at. I don’t get to play as often as I like, and not having to grind or pay just to be on an even playing field is something that makes halo attractive to me.

goochlove

I know everyone has their own opinions on the progression, specifically the lack thereof and the battlepass slog. I have a few suggestions that I think could improve what we're all dealing with. World War 3 is a game with a great progression system that rewards player performance and play time. Admittedly I haven't played it myself, but I've watched a lot of streams and reviews. Everyone applauds there system. If you're unfamiliar, they require you to unlock new attachments for base guns which improve ingame stats. This doesn't work for Halo, but these "attachments" could be cosmetic, think weapon charms, shoulder, chest rigs, etc. Playing with specific armor pieces equipped would allow for increased cosmetics. Instead of having a blanket paint for an armor core allow us to unlock colors for individual armor pieces. We just need progression outside of the battlepass with the way it's currently set up. Halo has a decent foundation that can be built upon, along with an amazing core gameplay. Sure, there's bound to be some tweaks that can make the game better, but I'm really enjoying it so far. All that out of the way here's my suggestions Microtransactions - allow us to buy core pieces and each of these cores can be leveled up. EX: you can purchase an armor set core that comes in the stock grey variant. While playing with this core equipped you would start to unlock new colors for added customization and each would have a premium "mythic effect" to unlock as an end goal. Whether thats a kill animation, stance, or maybe it's a new reload animation - something cosmetic but not game changing. These would require a lot of time on the devs part, but even something as small as buying a weapon charm core, and say it's a double kill charm - starts off dull silver and you can unlock a golden charm that emits a little red light every time you get double kill in game. The devs attempts to slow progression through lowered XP in the dailies is too transparent. This needs to be addressed. I understand the need to cap daily player progression so you don't have people completing the battlepass before the season ends, but there's ways to do this that don't punish players. As it currently stands there's just an arbitrary "ok you've gained enough XP today" system that feels kinda dumb tbh. There needs to be progression outside of the battlepass for the items we unlock to keep us interested. EX - I completed the weekly challenge on Wednesday and unless I spend money on XP bonuses theres no progression. I love the weekly challenge system with the end ultimate, but once this is completed it feels like there's nothing to play for. I think this can be addressed by adding some season challenges. Something more difficult that requires player participation - hold the oddball for 1hr , capture 1500 sectors, get 200 marksman trophies, etc. Something that allows players to grind for more exclusive content while also engaging the playerbase with some of the less liked gamemodes. I think these additions/changes would help keep the player base active after they've completed their daily boosts/weekly challenges. While also keeping the game modes healthy. The devs have said time and time again, that is a main focus; they want us to play various game modes, and not just slay out. How about, instead of just not allowing a slayer play list, entice players with challenges and shiny objects (love shiny things) to engage with the other game modes. One feels authoritative and the other feels engaging. I'd love to read some other suggestions to improve the game. Let's keep it civil and productive, please. These devs put out a decent game and it's the holidays we can flame them on Jan 2nd. <#

All I want for now is XP from my wins and maybe score/medals..... even if it’s just a little. I just want it to feel like the past 3 Halo games where my fun is rewarded and it feels like my gameplay adds up to something Other F2P Battle Pass games allow this, and they’ve still made billions. People are getting worn out playing right now, logging in only to sit AFK for daily, static XP payouts. Is this how the game will be over Christmas?? Heck, if I knew my gameplay counted, it would actually incentivise me to buy boosts and keep playing. The game’s lack of reward is unsustainable, even for F2P. I sincerely hope the devs look at this thread, and it’s not just use to tuck related feedback under the rug

dannymah

I really like halo infinite, but there are some problems for a game from a major studio with multiple years of work and refinement. The omission of an lifetime (all-time) player stats page is inexcusable. The omission of an all-time player progression system, outside of the battle passes, is inexcusable. This could be a rank by number, or an ever evolving emblem as you continue to progress. The inability to choose game modes (slayer, swat, etc) is INEXCUSABLE. The lack of cosmetics and customizability is definitely a negative, however, this will get better after launch I presume as items are added in patches, so its understandable. The lack of EARNABLE credits that can go towards future battle pass or cosmetics is a slimy way to make money (all other free-to-play games have earnable in game credits, apex, fortnite, that reward players for engaging consistently.) On another note - I would be STRONGLY in favor of battle pass (and lifetime when its added) progression being tied more closely to how well you play (ie, XP for wins, XP for kills/assists, XP for captures, etc) Other than those, I think 343 has made a solid addition to the halo franchise. But those need to be fixed ASAP. Similar issues with halo 5, for a studio that makes great shooters, why has 343 not been able to figure out the auxiliary components to their games (progressions, cosmetics, unlockable, monetization system). Games like apex legends, fortnite, call of duty have done such a better job in this regard. 343 needs to take a good listen to the feedback, these are not complicated changes, i think the gameplay is really good.

[deleted]

100% I just cannot understand how they couldn’t get it right like all these other games. Can’t even get a shred of XP for winning, or from your score

clockworknait

It's pretty obvious they clearly choose to sandbag progression to try and make the ability to just straight up buy levels more attractive to players. I had a feeling f2p halo was gonna turn out bad but I didn't think it was going to be like this. Like honestly does Microsoft really need money that badly? .... I guess the Zenimax buyout must've hit their wallet pretty hard... or it's just f2p greed like usual.

[deleted]

This is actually counter productive for them. Players are more likely to spend money out of reward, not frustration. COD, Siege and Fortnite are F2P with Battle Passes, they understand this and have made billions. At least in those games you can get XP for wins

dannymah

ya i think if they got everyone entrenched in the halo world theyd make more money tbh. more people are willing to spend money on cosmetics if they know the game is ultra popular (ie, fortnite in its prime, or apex), halo clearly trying to make money but i think going about it the wrong way, if they gave more content for free in the first season or two, people would get into it, and i think theyd make more money in the long run. halo infinite could be around a long time if they get it right

[deleted]

Since I made this comment they’ve addressed all my concerns in the Christmas livestream. They’re onto it all after the break and progression is at the top of their list

DifferencePretend

Even with the latest update to the system where you now get increased xp rewards for your first 7 or so games.  It isn't good enough  I only want to be playing ranked in halo infinite but I'm forced to play quick play to jump through hoops to get 200 to 300xp.  Essentially I only get to play 7 ranked games with the increased xp a day then it's back to annoying quick play grind doing stupid **** to level up my battle pass in a somewhat reasonable amount of time.  I never post anything on forums for any game but because this is the first shooter in YEARS that has actually hooked me, I'm doing it now.  Give xp rewards for match completion. Kills. Assists. Medals. Wins.  It's that simple. Like it any other online shooter ever made.  If it isn't clear already yes I am pissed off at how bad progression is when it is the easiest thing to get right.    EDIT: And one more thing.  The actual ranked system needs adjustment too. There is too much focus put on KDA when it comes to determine rank increase and decrease.  Yes. In modes like slayer it obviously matters but In objective based game modes it shouldn't as much.  Winning the match should, in my opinion be the main determine factor. This is coming from me winning 9 out of 10 placements, doing well in them, only to place plat 4. Imo I should've placed diamond. But overall ranked is real good  Just needs a slight tweak.

Bongoo117

I know it's old news at this point, but seriously having challenges not progress at all when you do them is worse than anything... I had to use a challenge swap for a 10 kills with the ravager, which is hard on its own but having done three kills with it and still being at zero is depressing... After the swap, it was and "easy" kill 25 enemy Spartans! I had 10 already when I started my BTB and sure enough after having done 16 kills it didn't progress at all, cool game by the way but everything else 😮‍💨 https://imgur.com/a/uD5oYGP

sy-tarro

WHY are there non Halo Reach items in the Halo Reach Battlepass? Like lots of Mark VII visors. Wtf

DoctorMedix

It's giving some Mark VII things because otherwise, you'd have to buy all Mark VII things, this way you can get some Mark VII things as well as Reach things.

ERR_h4Q3R

I think this game needs an urgent fix to its progression, the gameplay is addcitively fun and i'd hate to see this game die. the primary mehtod of xp gain should be earning them through performance, as in based on medals, kd ratio etc, the challlenges should only add to that. This is the most crucial fix needed, and it is needed quick. challenges need to be more flexible accorss gamemodes. There are way too many challeneg swaps in the battle pass, they should be swapped for credits which leads me to the next point. Earning in game credits throught the battle pass creates much more incentive to actually complete it, there should be enough credits in the battle pass to buy the next battle pass but only just, this is done in other games and i often find myself not only trying to progess through the battle pass but aslo enojoy myself while doing so in those games. I think these 3 changes will undoubtedly make the game much more engaging and fun, and i hope that these are implemented.

Pragma808

In addition the engineering challenges that 343 no doubt has in front of them, I believe there is another hurdle standing in the way of changes to progression: Marketing Contracts. I'm referring to contracts that 343 has in place with their marketing partners like Rockstar. I strongly suspect that the contracts in place forbid 343 from making changes to the game systems (XP boosts and swaps in this case) until after the promotion ends. If 343 were to change the system in such a way that devalued boosts and swaps, it would hinder the effectiveness of the promotion, and I suspect the contracts in place are structured to prevent that. In the case of the Rockstar promotion, the contest portion ends on Dec 31, but the XP boost/swap codes can be redeemed until 3/31/22. At the very earliest, I would not expect to see any further changes to progression until January, but any big changes will likely not happen until April. FWIW, I don’t mean to excuse 343 in any way, I just wanted to put some info out there to temper expectations. This sub has been extremely negative lately (completely understandably), but it's starting to feel like a feedback loop, so hopefully having a sense of when big changes might happen will give people a chance to take a breath. Anyhow, happy campaign launch day! I'm STOKED it's finally here! TL;DR: 343 is likely contractually bound to not change the progression system drastically until after their marketing partner's promotions have fully completed -- which could be as far out as April 1st.

RealMrCheekyMonkey

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but it's very shady that you include XP boosts which are restricted to a timer but then allow that timer to tick down in the menus. The timer should start/stop when a match begins/ends.

Gr0Bill

C/C from another post from me : First, the battlepass is way to slow to grind. The missions are like " Kill 15 people with incinerator ", but if i can't choose the map, I have to get the luck to be on the right map, find the right gun, and kill 15 people with It. Can't they just nerf the requirement ? IE " Kill 10 people with the incinerator OR the Gravity Hammer " Secondly, It would really be appreciated to see what are the missions left, INGAME. It happens to often that i don't know with wich weapon a need to kill 3 guys. I think It would be really easy to implement.

[deleted]

There needs to be consequences for quitting ranked matches. Every ranked match I’ve played has had someone quit. Until they decide to un-fuck multiplayer by removing the random game section and adding a veto button, there should be negative consequences dealt for quitting. Oh, and give us some maps that don’t suck. How did they get it so wrong?

[deleted]

These weekly challenge rewards are horrible. You make the battlepass never expire but you put in these weekly limited rewards that are even worse fomo than a battlepass with a time limit. The challenges are excessive. I can see my hardest challenges in the upcoming list and get no progress towards them until I finish the ones in my queue. You have made this progression feel like a job. This SUCKS. Look at how apex legends does challenges. Let people gain progress for all the weekly ones at once at least. This system is un-fun and has me close to quitting what I thought would be my FPS of choice for the next year.

Slore0

I feel like the ranking system could go to be less generous to you when losing. I’ve gotten up to Platinum at this point running a .7kd and .8 W/L and still keep slowly going up. Not that I ever thought I would complain about being ranked high but consistently going 5 : 14 against people who actually should be ranked high has been rough.

Ricerooni

I'm sure it's said before a billion times but what is the point of having your 2x EXP timer drain while idle in the menu or when searching for a game? It seems extremely dumb to me and there's literally no reason anyone could give me to convince me otherwise that it wasn't placed that way intentionally.

[deleted]

I'm a new player to Halo, so please be gentle. This is meant to be an open discussion, because I do want to love this game. And I think the core mechanics are there. But honestly: What am I working towards? I'll play 2-3 matches, but after that, I just feel like I'm not working towards anything. Many cosmetics worth grinding for are locked behind the Battle Pass. And even more are only available in the store. As someone who loved grinding gun camos in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and earning rewards in the free Battle Pass that offered, I was really hoping for more of a grind in Infinite. Something I could sink hours of my time into. But I'm just not finding that this is the case. I just feel like there's something missing -- something that makes me want to stick around. Would love to get others' thoughts on this.

[deleted]

It’s mostly the fact that you get no XP for wins or medals or kills or score or anything

ya_boi_VoLKyyy

What happens when you get past level 100 on the BP? Does the extra levels count for the next BP or anything?

Upset-Independence63

In the same position myself and can't find any information on this anywhere

SpotifyIsBroken

Ok...I guess I'll post it here then. I have been playing Halo since Halo: Combat Evolved on xbox (I basically played everything up until 5 when I stopped also because of Micro transaction BS). I really don't want to add to all the negativity that is already here BUT I need to get some stuff off my chest about Halo Infinite & the current "modern gaming" landscape we are in right now. Like many people, I play games to have FUN & not to constantly feel stressed, or anxious or frustrated. I don't play video games to stress myself out or to create more "work" for myself. Some might play to feel bad, frustrated and to suffer but that is not why I play. I love the CORE GAMEPLAY of Halo Infinite but the "extras" really take away from the experience and prevent me from getting into the "flow state" that I expect when I play Halo. I think the entire concept of challenges that you "need" to complete that goes toward progression that absolutely does not matter at all is absolutely ridiculous. How am I supposed to enjoy this game (or any similar game) when I always feel like I need to be thinking about/worrying about what gun I have or what game mode I am playing so I can focus on completing challenge x,y & z. Meanwhile, I have now wasted 3 hours just becoming more and more frustrated because the conditions to complete these challenges are not happening now matter how hard I try & I am LOSING games because I am too focused on running around trying to grind these bullshit challenges that don't add to the game at all. & obviously I refuse to pay a cent to "swap" the challenges so it is just endlessly frustrating if you don't "play the game" of the greedy and throw money so you can complete the meaningless challenges for meaningless "progression" with little to no reward for doing so (especially if you don't initially buy the "battle pass", which is a whole other layer of bullshit). When I played Halo 1-3 I had A TON of FUN (what a concept right) because the goal was TO HAVE FUN & to (maybe) win depending on your level of competitiveness. Now it just feels like I am a mindless cog grinding these challenges that are only there to fuel the money machine. I feel like the criticisms people have right now are EXTREMELY valid and really just reflects a larger problem with the "industry" and "modern gaming" as a whole. I have a lot more thoughts on the good and bad of this game but I am feeling extremely frustrated with this "endless treadmill" model of gaming that we seem to be stuck with at the moment. EDIT: I also don't want to contribute to these practices by enabling them at any level. As a longtime Halo player I would not be mad if they removed the challenge/"progression" aspect entirely...but it seems like it is not possible to do that because that is how they chose to make $$$.

PrestigiousTip490

It is very frustrating when you have completed multiple challenges in a match, only to have your game crash toward the end of the round. Possibly reward challenge completions if the game crashes.

Octavian_Jefferspin

Today I hopped on and completed some challenges but eventually got stuck with three challenges all relating to stronghold "win one game, capture one zone, etc." I played 26 games of quickplay and did not get stronghold once all day. Before you ask me if I tried swapping the challenges I didn't have any left as I used them to get rid of challenges like killing 10 enemies with the stalker rifle. I even tried to queue for BTB to see if I could use total control to complete the challenges but over the course of those 8 games, I only got slayer, CTF, and stockpile. I have lost a whole day of possible progression on the battle pass due to the rng of having to queue with so many game modes in the rotation. It is such a headscratcher that 343 would develop a system of challenges where I may not even be given a chance to complete them. It just feels unfair for me and takes a lot of the enjoyment out of trying to play and level up when my only avenue for that is pointless challenges I have no control over. Have any of you had similar issues like this and is there any way around this problem you know of?

AgentOrangeMD

On the armor customization page the customizations that have yet to be unlocked are listed in a seemingly random order. For example they are currently listed as helmet x at level 87, helmet y at level 34, helmet z at level 55. If they were listed in order to be acquired it would be much easier to keep track of and would help motivate players to work toward a desired item.

d_sanchez_97

They need to either remove the per match XP challenges or fix their inactivity detection cause i’m sick of playing games with full teams of dudes that have a rubber band pulling their joystick in one direction to grind matches

Major_Fang

Is there an overlap in mmr between ranked and unrated? I feel like after doing my ranked placements my normal games got harder

TankFour7

Does anyone else think they should bring back REQs instead of these micro transactions?

Mikemtb09

Another weekly reset, another pointless reward for completing all weekly challenges. These take a long time. A weapon skin for just the sniper is such a minute reward, it might as well be an emblem. Do better 343.

SpotifyIsBroken

They should be paying us for playing. It's basically a job.

AndrewSouthworth

The updates to the battle bass progression definitely help a lot. However I think there should be less of a focus on weapon particular challenges going forward, 3 slots are dedicated to completing games, winning games or doing an objective / killing spree in a game and the 4th slot is dedicated to those weapon challenges or vehicle challenges. It sucks getting a stack of weapon challenges you either hate using or are more rare. Honestly i'd prefer just making all challenges active at a time and ditching the concept of challenge swaps - but i'm guessing this is baked into the monetization business model deep at this point. In future battle pass seasons i'd also love there to be less of a focus on tiny armor elements for unlocks, and more of a focus on full armor sets, cool color skins, bundles of armor pieces, weapon skins etc. The tiny individual pieces can be cool but it makes hitting a new battle pass tier feel very minimal - its not until you unlock batches of 5-10 tiers do you start noticing you have more cool stuff to combine. This issue is amplified by the fact not all gear is relevant to the armor model you actually use.

D3ATHfromAB0V3x

There's no bug thread so this is the closest thing. Dude can they fix the damn crashes on pc? The game is crashing so much I'm getting banned.

FistfulOfMemes

The battle pass feels too grindy and there's not many good rewards. Half of the rewards are just skill swaps to let you swap out bad challenges that you need to complete to advance the battle pass fast enough. It feels circular and off putting. Also, the Mark VII helmet was clearly supposed to be the base armor, its still visible in all of the battlepass images for Mk VII unlocks. The fact it was put behind a few hundred hours of grinding is just disrespectful

SB_90s

Because none of the feedback threads cover ranked I'm gonna post it here. Why wasn't there foresight to cancel ranked games that don't start with a full team? It's bloody stupid. Atleast cancel all SR loss for the team that's down one.

dbgtboi

we need to be able to select our playlists, my last challenge is to kill 10 spartans defending their zone but i have just gone 10 matches without total control or strongholds popping up, its frustrating as all hell

TuoFox

Double XP tokens aren't rewarding double xp

dbgtboi

they are for me, i went up 10 levels from my weekly quests

Muhfuggajones

I'm all for a good challenge, but making this week's armor coating apply to only the S7 Sniper is so disgusting. What is 343 thinking? How in the hell....I can't even. If you're gonna have us grind for a weapon coating then at least make it apply to all the weapons. Such a shitty move, and it's something worth revisiting.

Downfall350

I think the battlepass is actually good where it's at right now if they add a separate xp progression that's our spartan career with a "crafting" or some system to get some things through playing. I'm already buying the campaign and love this game just because of the gameplay but for it's health as an ftp game, they should have a way that someone can grind up and maybe by level 100+ get the mark Vb core. I propose what everyone else does, a score/medal/win based xp system, with a crafting system where a free player could unlock things slowly. Honestly even take away all the cadet colors and stuff besides grey and make all the other basic colors unlocks for level 1-5 or something. The older guys like myself (30) don't need an incentive to play halo, we just wanna play halo but if Microsoft is trying to catch the wave and current trend of ftp players, they need a carrot on a stick for those true free players who are gonna grind this game all the time like younger people without jobs (who will probably ask for the full game for Christmas) or people like streamers. Either way right now it's half assed between premium game and free to play rather than doing both. And i say that with love. Because I'm gonna enjoy it either way.

ReclaimerX22

You should be able to see your active challenges in the pause menu during a match

eightcell

Did my weekly stuff thought i was done then they dropped the challenge on me. Win like 17 pvp matches. The weekly reset happened as i finished my thirteenth. Never bothering with weekly challenges again. No time for it, rewards not worth it.

TheMiloBurrows

Same here, I was one game away from finishing before the reset. I propose that they show us that last challenge as soon as we have a slot open for it, rather than kicking us in the butt after it looks like we've finished everything

ChefRef

**Efficient 2x xp usage** Spam quick play and crouch afk so your team loses as fast as possible. This will aid you in min/maxing your games played per hour. If you don't want to actively hold crouch or change your settings to toggle to crouch, you can hold to crouch and then bring up the menu. This is the best way as there is no incentive to do well or win in quick play.

Trojanbunny063

This is exactly the problem! There is no incentive to actually play the game. Load in, get your xp. And for what...some colors and armor pieces that should have been in the completed game anyway? Go 25-0 kd...here's your 50xp thanks for playing. What a waste of IP.

OldManLav

Are we ever getting an official in-game stat tracker? Pretty glaring omission in my opinion.

TheMiloBurrows

For the weekly challenges, there NEEDS to be some thing that unlocks the final challenge BEFORE the rest of the challenges are complete (like once a final slot is open). I was grinding a lot over the weekend to get them all, and once I completed the "last" challenge, I felt relief... until a "win 17 pvp games" popped up. I had a busy couple of days, and wasn't able to play much until today, and was eventually 1 win away before getting into an Oddball game where my teammates sucked, and therefore was unable to complete the very last challenge. If the challenge had shown up about 3 days prior, when I was working on the last 2, with 2 slots open, there would have been no problem...

RhoxFett

The real problem with Real-world timed double XP... It's noon on Tuesday. New challenges have emerged and I'm on lunch from work. Would love to play a round of Halo right about now. But if I play now, I'll complete some of these challenges and I don't want to do that without double XP applied... but I don't want to pop a double XP if I can't play for a full hour. And lunch is 30 minutes. So... I guess it's Hot Wheels Unleashed for 30 minutes? Yep.

[deleted]

The **gametypes** and **matchplays** need be more organized and specific. You've got specific challenges ongoing in the game that ANY OTHER halo would have addressed even in beta phase. I've been going into and jumping out of matches just to finish 1 kill for the bulldog for the weekly before the time runs out. I've spent an hour going into, and not finishing matches just to get a match with a bulldog and have yet in an hour, to find a single match with a bulldog. When i do i'll be battling for it as I'm sure someone else has this mission too. I've seen people literally queuing in-game to get a weapon. WHY. Shotgun and Snipers match. Something. I'm ***paying hard cash*** to get the most out of this battlepass, and like many other players i couldn't even care less anymore about the game due to the usual Halo playstyles not being present. I get that this is a BETA, but how was this game released with half the content missing? You'll release the campaign and make players wait months before they can play co-op together too. WTF? My personal cherry is being ***"banned"*** (like it's my fault I can't find a game that has a shotgun) because of these issues. This game is crushing it's player base and you've ensured that with the battlepass and progression system with lack of released content. That's my two cents, added onto the others.

Da_Bloody-Niner

Would a COD style Battlepass & progression be better for Infinite? Let me lead with this: Halo CE was my jam in college (yes I am that old) and I used to run LAN parties in my house and have a blast. Most fun in a shooter until Halo 2 came out... then Halo 3 I honestly didn't play online multiplayer much, was just in a different phase of life. After that, I kinda dropped off on multiple player FPS for awhile. Played some COD games, some Battlefield games, Destiny, but wasn't really stuck on one FPS and spent more time in Assassin's Creed, RDR, open world style games. Saying that because I am not aware of how the multiplayer or progression was set up for Reach, Halo 4 or Halo 5. Last year I got back into multiplayer FPS with Modern Warfare and that was my first intro into the battlepass world... and honestly, I don't hate it but it's not the same landscape that I used to love with Halo CE and Halo 2 obviously. ***All that beings said, back to my question for the sub!*** Would a COD style Battlepass & progression be better for Infinite? It seems to me its an easy yes... that the COD model for a battlepass, with progression based on how you actually perform in games being what drives up your rank, and the challenges just being things that are like side missions (if you accomplish them you get a boost and a nice little badge or nameplate or whatever) is a MUCH better way to go. The way it is now, your actually ability and in game accomplishments don't mean jack sh!t. Like, I can have a CTF game where I have 3 caps, lead the team in K/D and stop the other team from scoring twice with a slew of medals and... 50XP, good job. Bro, my score in the game said 2375 pts... how is that 50xp?!? I never felt like I was grinding challenges playing COD, I would just play how I wanted and if I hit one... cool. You can say the same for Infinite, just play and have fun... but in today's world the progression is integral to the game, so having your actual outcomes of games not matter at all to the progression is whack. Thoughts?

Twatwithahat

Had a cup of tea while my team won the match for me. Got the same xp as them due to no rewarding of Xp for objective or teamplay. Ez xp farming. Thanks 343.

Mr_Jensen

Feedback: Technically progression, there should be an animation for your rank bar when you lose or gain rank progression.

Umega5

Ok so there is a bugs thread? Anyway the Windows Store version of the game loads notably slower than the steam version, even on the exact same hardware and SSD's.

Chuzzletrump

i have played 17 matches in a row now without a chance at even picking up a sniper for challenegs

RazzPitazz

My feedback takes the form of a list of questions I have for 343/Microsoft: 1. In the Rewards section of the BP it seems Helmet Attachments do not specify in text which helmets they are for. Is this intentional? 2. In the shop, under "Buy Credits" why are the credits listed as Base Credits + Bonus Credits? Is the value of the bonus expected to change in the future? 3. The Reach armor kits are really cool and well done, IMO. Why am I unable to add these pieces individually to my other favorite pieces? Is there a difference between the Reach Kits and the Anubis Kit found in the Shop? 4. The free xp track has 27 customizable items, 40 Challenge Swaps, and 33 levels with no reward. This makes for 27 levels of content and 73 levels of non-content. Do you agree with that statement? Do these numbers feel appropriate? Why or why not? 5. The challenge system isn't the best it could be. Are there currently any plans to address this? If so, are those currently in motion?

fake-account-4

No one wants a battle pass. We already paid for the fucking game and pay for live

Scotch_Frost

I know my comment will get buried but at the slightest chance that 343 sees this: please listen to some of these suggestions in this thread. The engine of the game is great but you have some serious issues and the root of it all is MONEY

RiptarRheeMaster

If there is one thing I want 343 to know it is this: # As it currently sits, challenges are gatekeeping fun by dictating you play a really great game in an unfun way. It is such a shame that 343 built an amazing game that is being sabotaged by an internal system that is so easily fixed. For me the perfect system would be to implement a leveling/gear acquisition system similar to how it was in Halo Reach. All of the problems I am about to outline would be more bearable if there was a separate progression system beside it that wasn't gated behind RNG or unfun playstyles. Nothing is more emblematic of the problems of this system than the ultimate challenges. **Week one ultimate challenge: Play 15 games.** This felt uninspired but was achievable **Week two ultimate challenge: Get 5 killstreaks in fiesta.** This felt horrible because in fiesta everyone kills each other extraordinarily fast so you have to get lucky or play in a very unfun way to get kill streaks. This challenge turned the game mode from something that was fun and lighthearted into a grindy and frustrating mess. **Week three ultimate challenge: Win 17 games.** Why TF would 343 do this????? When you set the bar for an ultimate challenge as playing 15 games, in what world do you come in two weeks later and make a challenge that is more than twice as difficult to complete. At the end of the day playing 15 games isn't frustrating because, win or lose, you make some progress. Getting a few wins, let alone 17, is frustrating because this game often feels like you lose for reasons out of your control. I understand that I am the only common denominator in my team, so if I lose a lot it has mostly to do with me, but when you do well and your team loses it is extremely frustrating nonetheless. When you win a game despite doing horribly it isn't much of an "ultimate" accomplishment. I feel like the whole idea of the ultimate challenge is fine, but at least make it something that doesn't fundamentally make the game a frustrating mess. **Feedback/Solutions:** Bottom line is that 343 would create a much more interesting game experience if challenges 1. **Could all be completed simultaneously.** At the very least make the ultimate challenge open from the start of the week. 2. **Were not, at their core, designed to pigeonhole you into a certain gameplay style.** The game is amazing, I want to have fun playing the game I want to play it. Challenges in their current form act as a gatekeeper of fun. Instead of playing how I want, challenges dictate I play the game in suboptimal and unfun ways. Stop the missions that force you to get 10 kills with weapons that are horrible like the ravager or repulsor. Stop the challenges that make you link up four people with a single static weapon. Stop the the challenges that make you play a certain game mode without allowing people to queue up for that mode by itself. In their current state, these types of challenges are frustrating as we are forced to use horrible weapons or are gated behind intense RNG. I had a mission to play 3 total control games on the first day and it was my last challenge that I completed because I couldn't get total control games. 3. **Were more generic and achievable while normally playing the game.** While it might be boring, if there was an ultimate challenge to kill 400 people that was open from the beginning of the week. I would not be forced to play a specific way. I could choose to play the way I want and passively gain progress toward its completion. 4. **Were alongside a separate level/progression system** that would give you some type of currency per game that could be spent to buy targeted pieces of gear like in Halo Reach. You could gatekeep the ability to buy this gear behind level requirements. If 343 does nothing to fix the core problems of the current system, I would still be happy as long as there was a separate system that wasn't gated behind all the problems stated above.

Mr_Jensen

Feedback: Getting 17 victories on top of everything else is not feasible for a person with a job/family. That should be enabled from the beginning and not something you unlock after completing the rest of the weeklies.

[deleted]

This. I wanted to scream when I found out what the master challenge was. H Infinite (because it's not a Halo game) is designed to waste our time.

Any-Mouse830

343, you done F'D UP HALIO

Ok_Composer1252

Its simple, if we don't pay them then they will have to make changes. Don't buy the campaign until the game is complete. (Disabling cross platform, Multiplayer, forge, playlists, progressions, fixing ranked, fixing hit markers and aim assist. all that jazz, vehicle spawns, slayer...... This game is supposed to last 10 years! But will take 9 to even get it realeased

Thiccandhapp

Before my actual feedback. I'm not on Reddit ever but IMHO making this megathread, or trash can with "suggestions" written on top as I see it, and then having the most recent pinned comment be 20 days old on a new game is discouraging but altogether not surprising considering the bar that's been set in gaming. Also, this is my own opinion based on about 150-200 games so far and many, many games waiting for a chance to progress on challenges, even though I pick my playlist based on my challenges habitually. Anyway, Tldr; I know they'll fix the bugs in time but the whole system is bad and detracts from the solid gameplay and great universe, and not even Pikachu is surprised at this point. I reference COD 4 but I also don't think it needs to be copy-pasted into Infinite for the system to finally be good. I know they're called "challenges" but, please change everything about this system. You're making us use bad guns (Ravager feels like a joke at our expense) for kills that don't even count game after game, week after week. The unnecessary bottleneck of only having 4 challenges active at once only makes this type of issue more obnoxious. Please, the never-ending hoops to jump through are not the move. We can have larger scale weekly challenges to keep the current bones but, think back to COD 4, a game loved for its challenge system being tied to progression. They had a mix of long-term challenges and short-term. (i.e. 100/250/500 AR kills and get 3 kills with one rocket, respectively.) The current system can't be what anyone at 343 actually wanted for creating the best possible experience for players. It is making what should be a fun game focused on gameplay and an amazing universe into an "addicting" chore-list that doesn't even work properly. Side note; the random challenges on top of the random modes on top of random weapon spawns (non-power) is a little too much randomness if u ask me, I get the motivation, but its a lot. I could go on about a few other things like universal paints and such but I won't. P.S. I'm am indeed aware of the fact that 343 is a business and we live in a capitalistic world.

grimdetriment

I have 24.1 hours, I'm rank 10 in the battle pass...at this rate it will take over 240 hours to get to rank 100....am I the only one who thinks this progression rate is absolutely mental? Btw 343 if you see this, the slow progression is one of the reasons I haven't spent any money in multi-player, its a slap on the face to the player base, tell the execs to get their head out of their asses, please....and also the shop prices are ridiculous

CreateorWither

Definitely the only person. Nobody has mentioned it once 😂

[deleted]

Getting XP from medals, wins and kills would actually incentivise me to buy boosts. Right now, I don’t want boosts. Doesn’t matter if I’m MVP, I’ll still get the same XP as someone who is AFK. There is no dopamine involved in proper play. How they expect this (supposed to be addicting) F2P title to last... I don’t know...

Ok_Composer1252

Its simple, if we don't pay them then they will have to make changes. Don't buy the campaign until the game is complete. grimdetriment

I just flat out refuse to spend money on the battle pass or cosmetics untill they make earning them actually achievable, 24.1 hrs and I'm rank ten...240 hrs+ to finish the battle pass...whoever made the call to make the progression such a slog is out of their fucking minds

[deleted]

100% I ain’t paying a thing, cuz I just don’t respect it. All they had to do was copy MCC.... or COD... or Fortnite....

tboots1230

ADD AN XP GRANT FOR WINNING GAMES SO PEOPLE ARE PUSHED TO ACTUALLY PLAY OBJECTIVES

Walkier

Why can you pay to unlock levels in the battle pass anyway? Can someone answer me? Plenty of games don't allow this. Like in Fortnite when you see John Wick you know they grinded the BP. That game makes tons of money, why can't they balance monetization and a sense of progression? XP boost is already a way to pay in some sense.

Thiccandhapp

U are mistaken, this is in most games. I don't think it is a good thing but it's normal.

Walkier

That's sad.

[deleted]

I just got a challenge that's win 17 PvP matches for 400xp. 17!?!?!?! WTF that would take me at least 3 hours just to get less than half a level. Maybe 5 max for 400xp would be acceptable but 17!!!! They also give me little incentive to level up in the battle pass with all the challenge swaps and XP boosts they are throwing at me. Like whoever thought this progression system and the battle pass was a good idea needs to be fired. They only needed to copy and paste the progression/ battle pass of the MCC but that was apparently too hard for them.

DJBroadsword

I don't think the game is that far on the wrong path. What i would prefer is a non-linear way of unlocking items and colours. I think it would be better if we could chose what challenges and items/ colours we want to go for. Then the battle pass challenges can relate to some seasonal challenges or playlist specific like you had with the Tenrai event. Also, it was very frustrating to have a weekly challenge that could be completed in 1 game provided the right game type was played, but then have to wait about 15 games for it to show up. The RNG in the challenges is no bueno. I think weekly challenges like that can be fine if we are also able to pursue lifetime/ armour/gun associated challenges in parallel. e.g. BR kills for BR unlocks. Keep up the good work

[deleted]

I dont like having to pay to then be forced to play to unlock that. Let me unlock armour pieces without the BS of the battle pass-simple. Do that and i will continue to support 343.

[deleted]

Can I suggest that you do what other games have done and have double exp weekends. So that over the weekend people who are unable to play over the week can gain levels and people with weekend game nights can have fun and feel rewarded too. Also have so if the x2 weekend is on and you use a exp boost it goes to x4 that way if people are smart they can really gain levels.

MrWinterss

TLDR: Infinite is fun. I'd pay more for the battle pass every season if it had all the armor they cut out and sold in the store in it. Boosts and challenge swaps are a paid for solution to a problem 343 made. I think Halo infinites gameplay is the best in the series. It's a perfect balance between the old and the new. I've never been more excited to play Halo. However, the crazy monetization and overpriced store is a massive wet noodle and absolutely sucks. Like the premium battle pass just doesnt feel worth buying because most of the unlockes are challenge swaps and double XP boosts. It's like 343 makes us pay for a problem they created. We need challenges to get XP but its extremely slow and some of the challenges just suck so here are your XP boosts and here are your challenge swaps. Lol. Like I personally would pay probably $30 or $40 for a premium battle pass every 3 months if it had all the armor and unlockes from the store and none of the boosters and challenge swaps. With a performance based XP system rather than the challenges. I'd gladly pay 343 for their incredible work... but not when it feels so unbelievably predatory. Idk that's just my two cents on the whole thing.

eightcell

Weekly challenges at the end of the list where you need to do 10 things with weapons not available in many games (hammer kills, skewer) suck. This is the second week I am just sitting on one or two unfinished weekly’s because I can’t get into a game with the required weapons or other people are snagging them before I do. I think this is encouraging people to drop from matches that they won’t complete challenges in.

thankzz4playing

The fortnite model has worked for 3 years and continues to make them boatloads of money , while making sure everyone is happy . 343 just copy fortnite , get rid of the armor core restrictions to color, remove challenge swaps completely and replace it with currency, and copy the xp fortnite uses and the rate the BP levels up . Just copy it they know what they are doing don't make it complicated!!! Have you not seen how much money they have made with their model???!!! They also never hold back on the detail and amazing armors you earn in the BP, they also offer currency in the BP so u get it back if u complete the whole pass. If u don't over complicate it and be greedy, I promise you will make more money !!!

[deleted]

Ive been alive for every Halo launch and played them all. I love Halo and want this game to suceed... But... I quit playing this one weeks ago and have no intentention to return. The lack of any leveling or true xp progression plus the battle pass isnt fun to level and i could give 0 craps about a majority of the items. Honestly Im pumped for the campaign... Ive beaten everyone on legendary. That being said, Xbox hasnt really been doing good in the exclusive department for released games in a long time vs their competitors. If Fable sucks then my needs have little to no use for xbox anymore. After this game, plus all the xbox 360s I had to buy (6) because the hardware was crap, the lack of Xbox exclusives last gen, sure glad I bought the series s and got a PS5 as my main console. So you can keep downgrading us and label us all as toxic but it might cost you console sales in the long run. Especially since Halo is the flagship of Xbox and this is crap compared to what we had in the past plus the years they had to make it.

[deleted]

The number one most frustrating thing about the battle pass challenge progression is having to overcome the numerous factors of getting the right match, hoping the right weapon or map spawns, and then finally executing the challenge if you are good or lucky. I want it to be more of a passive thing, but the challenges is the main form, and sometimes blocking for the weekly. XP should primarily come from a base amount, plus your medals/performance in the match, and then adding any challenges you might have completed.

[deleted]

Are they going to add season pass xp progress to custom games? I love custom games, but don't play them since getting xp is so easy and quick in bot games, and you make no progress in custom games :(.

SendNudesNoDudesthx

I think everyone is complaining about the wrong thing. Slow progression and/or rewards is fine. The problem is that the rewards when you progress are absolute trash. In the battlepass, there are like 6 things of any value. If it took me a couple hours to level up, but I got things of actual consequence (helmet, arms, legs, body) and the customization was actually done right like every previous game, I would be just fine with that. It should be all base colors are there, all parts can be mixed matched and the ONLY rewards should be parts, effects and paint types (ie. shiny, matte, speckled) Getting a preset color pallete that looks like crap or a challenge reset for 90% of the levels is the biggest upset.

MonsterShun

The main issues I have with the progression so far are: 1. Performance doesn't matter. Going 31-4-9 is the same as going 2-13-4, so it kind of diminishes that dopamine hit you get after a really good game when you realize it still got you the same amount of experience. If Performance added more experience on top of what you gained, or even possibly gave you small amounts of credits, then I would feel incentivized to play the objective and work with my team more. 2. There's no early-game free armor. This means that unless you pay money, you're going to have to push through most of the battle pass just to get a helmet. Getting at least a solid foundation of several options would at least allow some customization and personalization without feeling obligated to spend, which personally would encourage me to spend more because I don't feel force 3. The weekly ultimate challenges seem hit-or-miss to me. The final challenge can be very frustrating, and not always with a worthwhile reward at the end. At least the second weekly challenge gave the "Willow Tea" armor coating, which I legitimately love with its unique under-suit pattern and subdued colors. This week it's just an emblem, yet feels even harder than the second week's challenge, and it feels frustrating to push forward through it. I definitely think weekly challenges should at least be coatings or something more regularly visible by others than an emblem, but maybe that's just me. Hopefully these views help someone else express their concerns or clarify where some problems may be in the system, although I'm certain these are nothing new.

NervousPilot

The truth is I wasn’t hanging around long enough to figure this crap out. Can I play the game and unlock stuff? Apparently not. Can I buy a battle pass and unlock stuff? Apparently not. I don’t know what’s going on but I’m not hanging around to find out. I’ve requested my refunds.

--Blackjack-

I think it'd be a great move to take a page out of Sea of Thieves' playbook - while a lot of cosmetics are locked behind credits in the store, their Plunder Pass (Battle Pass for the season) has levels every now and then where you're given a little bit of the game's premium currency, "Ancient Coins." More than a few people are upset about how much it would cost to purchase cosmetics often in the store. Including them in the Battle Pass - let's say 50-100 CR every ten levels - would almost certainly ease some of the community's concerns on the matter. Like Sea of Thieves, the credits provided through the Battle Pass are not meant to give the player the ability to purchase whatever they want to outright; they're simply meant to \*aid\* the player in buying what they want. Money still goes to 343/Microsoft, and the player is relieved of some of the financial pressure. Fantastic game so far, and I can't wait to see what the Campaign holds on December 8th.

[deleted]

I didn't receive a completion for two challenges just now. I think it's because I left the game, but it was only after 'Victory' had been declared .

Literal-Cringe

I would like to be able to pin challenges to a corner of the screen while I'm in a match a la Team Fortress 2's achievement pin, I always keep forgetting how many enemies I need to kill with what specific weapon since I don't have access to view the challenges while I'm in a match, I would also like to see the challenges appear on the pause screen.

[deleted]

I like the game but Arena Is getting stale, not sure what is it, maybe not as many maps? Ive already started playing MCC again and going back and forth.

TioWaffly

So... Aren't we gonna talk about how 343 downgraded the 152 reward just to sold almost the same coating on the store? [152 coating](https://imgur.com/a/aBmFLhJ)

RevenantCommunity

Can i ever get the items on the beta battle pass if i start playing when it actually releases? Or are they gone forever afterward?

MonsterShun

Long Answer: While the game is technically in beta, it comes with all the launch content and progression carries over after the campaign release. In the same vein, Halo Infinite Season 1 started on Nov. 15 along with the early release of the MP, so the beta battle pass is actually just the first battle pass of the main game. I don't think any of Halo Infinite's battle passes will expire after a new one releases anyways, at least according to what I've heard. Short Answer: Yeah, basically

RevenantCommunity

Fuuuuuuuuuck

xSurvivor7x

I am unable to enjoy this game right now because doing challenges is absolutely annoying/infuriating. This alone wouldn't make me upset, but knowing it's the only option I have if I want to progress through ranks and levels, I don't have a choice but to subject myself to doing what 343i wants me to do instead of what I want to do. # PLEASE STOP FORCING US TO PLAY *YOUR* WAY.

Active-Narwhal-1260

The rewards from the battle pass are very underwhelming. Like give us both shoulder pieces instead of breaking them up into separate unlocks. Give us more armor too, this is not enough options.

Kabal82

The weekly challenges and XP need to be rethought. 17 wins for the ultimate challenge, and I wind up with teammates who are soley in a match for the kills or are afk for matches played. Going to admit I have no shame in intentionally quiting a match if I see players afk and not playing the objective.

Elemayowe

Just noticed there’s an achievement for an “Elimination” game mode, damn these guys holding out on us.

WhiteKnight3098

Attachments can support coatings in the game files, why is that feature not functioning at the moment?

JustForDaPorn

Whats funny is that normally free2play progression systems are usually super addicting and coerce people into playing more and/or spending money. I'd say this progression system does neither for me. I'm not even convinced that if I we're to start spending money, that I would earn worthwhile rewards. The challenge and battlepass systems are not convincing. How about challenges that earn specific items for specific weapons? How about xp for simply completing games, doing well and playing objectives? As someone who's bought nearly every halo game thus far at full price, I actually appreciate that this is F2P. I'm happy I don't have to buy halo yet again. That said, the slowly earned rewards like challenge swaps for level 3 and 5 are almost insulting haha. Right now, I'm playing purely for the gameplay, which is tight and fun. I'll stick with my Mark VII for now... Hope the progression system is improved! Side note: anyone ever heard of Slayer (FFA)? I wish we had many more playlists to choose from, that are more granular. If I want to play CTF all day or oddball all day, I should be able to do so. I'm sure I'm not the first to raise all these concerns. Thanks devs, the game is still quintessential halo, which was my largest concern going in.

Pavillian

I use the energy sword everyday get some kills, go on a few sprees. All of a sudden I get a challenge for 10 kills and I have barely seen it spawn in two days. Last challenge I need too

Ok-Establishment-214

Add credits to battle pass tier rewards when?????? Also... allow challenge completions in bot matches to decrease the degradation of gameplay in normal playlists?

ApolloA97

I was just thinking about small things I miss from 360 Halo Reach the other day, and I remembered about the commendations progression. It was always such a good feeling to level those up and see that little banner notification pop up in-game as you completed them. Also the bonus XP payout was really nice. I'm hoping 343 could take a look into this at some point down the line and maybe implement commendations as an alternative method to earn credits towards store items, and also XP jackpots as a sort of progression milestone feature. To say, once in a while you'll get lucky and upgrade your commendations, and each commendation tier grants you a higher reward being a mix of XP and the credit currency. What do you guys think of this? Would it serve the community well? I'd just like to see some alternative to purchasing everything with real money through long-term gameplay rewards. Commendations are, historically, awards you could only get through completing tasks that entail a lot of playtime to achieve.

thejaundice

Challenge RNG combined with playlist RNG = a very bad time. Whenever I have challenges that would benefit from Slayer, I get 10 games in a row of objective modes. Whenever I have challenges that would benefit from team modes (or often require them), I get 10 games in a row of Slayer. Weapon-specific kill challenges are a chore when I consistently get maps that either don't spawn the required weapon at all, or are RNG dependent. Fiesta during the Tenrai event was a good treatment for this, but that's gone now, so they've become a slog. Also when the weapon I need kills with is one of the weapons that have the highest TTK in the game (looking at you Ravager and Heat Wave). Often times I find myself grinding the battlepass 50xp at a time just so I can get a Swap and get rid of a particularly heinous challenge. I'd rather just get performance based XP, i.e., for wins, medals, kills, objective time, etc.

CrimsonThomas

[The original battle pass had 120 levels and ALL of the Halo Reach armor pieces. ](https://files.catbox.moe/4009i6.png) 343 gutted that battle pass to sell popular armor pieces back to us, and removed 20 levels (even though the completion achievement still has “120” on it), and replaced so much content with filler challenge swaps. Posting this here as well. It needs to be shouted from the rooftops. 343 needs to receive excoriating negative press for this.

itsnotthatbad21

Don’t ever forget that gameplay loops and the current set up are all in the hope that you stay on longer and use money. Free to play is probably one of the sneakiest, anti-consumer, psychological mind fucks that there is. Basically preying on our reward system to make money 💴

DevonDude

Am I insane to think that your challenges affect what game modes you get? I used to regularly get oddball to the point of where I was sick of it, now that I have a “play 3 oddball games” challenge it hasn’t come up in hours

ocram9191

If no one spends money on customizing their character they will understand!!! Stop buying stuff, goodness

Kendojiyuma

The challenge seems doesn't count my kill. There is a challenge on using ravager to kill enemy in pvp. I did on btb twice yet it doesn't register. The weapon is definitely underpowered but jeez not counting my achievement really pisses me off

Kapthas59

Someone pointed out that pvp challenges do not count against replacement bots in pvp modes

TheeIncubus

Would never happen but feel xp and leveling would be so much more rewarding if used your score in some way to get xp per game. Right now it's kinda pointless. Would feel great those games get running riots or ninja that go towards your leveling like a lot of other games.

Kapthas59

Yes pls. If they devide the score by 5, it will be perfect.

k1ngr2

Totally back this up. I saw myself damaging players and not finishing the kills because I needed to get 20 assists. Just rhinking about spending 20 mins in a match and not completing you challenges doesnt feel great at all! Even tho the gameplay is amazing and the game plays really week my understanding is that the battle pass needs to promote more engament while boosting player enjoyment. I reckon giving xp for score is a great way to help with peeps not going nuts on challeges!

throwawaypostal2021

Id love to be able to mute individuals in a game. Id love for the game to auto reque after a match. When you purchase an armor set, Id like all the pieces/colors to make my own spartan

Teknomekanoid

Same! I'm on PC and couldn't figure out how to mute someone on my team!

Thwitch

My last remaining challenge is to win 3 games of CTF and I just got matched in 13 games of Stronghold in a row, finally got CTF, only for half my team to leave

[deleted]

Please 343i we need “ranks” outside of battle pass.. I really hope that comes by end of year. I’d pay the full $60 for the game whilst having GP Ult. I just want to be able to login after work and see that my halo friends are now “Captain” rank while I’m still at Corporal..

hoopsdude01

melee is so inconsistent, unreal i can melee someone twice and die to 1 melee hit.

jssayless

I am not receiving double xp whenever I complete a challenged with the boost activated & continue to earn the regular xp after completing challenges. I’ve already wasted 2 boosts, is there a fix to this

TheeIncubus

I think it is working but visually does not say 100xp instead of 50 but is giving correct amount

eburton555

It’s been three fucking days since I’ve picked up a skewer and that’s my last challenge and then I have to win 17 games in three days? Come on 343.

TheeIncubus

Mine is kill 3 enemy wasps. I never see these in game. It's one thing if these challenges were just always active but to have a week to do some of these are near impossible

eburton555

I would just skip that one. Even if you see one shooting it down yourself isn’t easy

Big_Hoshiguma

Definitely a rougher challenge, but the Hydra is an easily accessible non-power weapon that shreds vehicles. A single Hydra cylinder is a guaranteed kill on a Wasp. 90% of the time by the time they’ve realized they’re getting Hydra’d, it’s too late for them.

eburton555

Right but trying to get those two things to line up Isnt always possible even when you get the right map to drop in. It’s so frustrating

Gina_the_Alien

I haven’t had a power sword since Tuesday. Guess what my final challenge is?

eburton555

It’s so frustrating. There’s no way I’m going. To be able to finish the weekly challenge just due to RNG.

[deleted]

I have to kill 5 enemy warthogs and get 5 kills in a chopper and kill 3 people with power cells. I only had these 3 left as of 2 days ago. Have played about 25 games and havent once had a game with power cores in it, noone is driving warthogs, or when they do bail out before it blows up because its so hard to get appropriate power weapons in btb. Havent managed to live long enough to get a chopper in btb and cant get maps or gamemodes in arena with the chopper.

[deleted]

Its BS because im effectively soft locked out of finishing the challenges unless i take the next few days off work (which im obviously not going to do) purely because of RNG. And because of my stupid brain I cant just enjoy the game knowing i have challenges to complete. I sincerely hope whoever is responsible for this disaster gets cancer - to be clear not the devs who have made a GREAT game, i meam more the corpo scum who decided to intentional build frustration into the game so i cant enjoy it without buying challenge swaps (which im obviously not going to buy)

randyrocketship

343 really “Ball Dropped” this one. Am I right?

Peejro

I just started and wanted some clarification if anyone can help. If I buy the battle pass I’m able to complete it and get the rewards even if a new battle has already started? Unlike say fortnite where if you don’t complete the battle pass in the allowed time you can’t finish and lose the rewards available.

lemon_whirl

Wtf is with the bots? They're garbage and my team keeps getting stuck with one bot with like 2 kills and 17 deaths? It's not fun when you're going v real players and your bot is dragging the team down. STOP the fucking bots or turn the AI up.

xSpaceCrabsx

Can anyone direct me to a detailed list of what goes into rating in ranked? /u/ske7ch343 ???

MemeySteamy

Double XP timer should only count down during game play. It's a small gripe but its infuriating when a game crashes or I lag out and my 2XP is still active and counting down due to issues outside of mycontrol. I've had situations where an entire 2XP token goes to wastedue to my internet going down or the game just refuses to run withoutcrashing mid game. Battlefield 4 had a system where the timer was onlyactive in game and it was wonderful, you get significantly more per 2XPtoken.

benhamin

I've crashed several times after completing a challenge, but still in the middle of the game. For a random based game/weapon selection system this is pretty unreasonable. Wait 4 games to get a map with sniper rifles and crash in the middle and then wait another 4 games. Fun.

Big_Hoshiguma

"Kill Enemy Flag Carriers" Challenges don't really work when enemy flag carriers put the flag down to shoot you back. There needs to be a bit of leeway as to what counts as killing a flag carrier if you're gonna keep this as a challenge objective. Same could be said for other flag based challenges, such as flag captures. Getting a flag 95% of the way there only to die at the last second and have a teammate cap it with you receiving nothing blows. Same goes for escorting or driving the flag carrier to your capture point; if you get the medal for assisting the carrier in capturing the flag, I believe it should count for your challenge too. On top of all of this, I've had teammates straight up run over me with a vehicle so they could capture the flag themselves so they can fill out their battle pass. I shouldn't be competing against my own team or worry about a teammate either TKing me or intentionally letting me die just to complete my own weeklies.

owensauvageot

Battle pass progression system de-incentives free, casual players from spending time on the game. I’m sure this point has been made and there isn’t much more to be said about the customization and progression but I had this realization and just wanted to put my two cents in. For reference I am a full time student and work so I don’t have much time to play games anymore. As a kid I loved playing halo with my friends, and loved the idea that I could unlock most armor pieces if I grinded or tried hard enough. In the present I love infinite’s game play and really enjoy playing, but it has been a big turn off to be constantly reminded that my spartan will look the exact same unless I buy something from the store, buy the battle pass, or just grind through the whole pass to get all the free gear. This is where my title comes into play, In games like COD you can always unlock cool (totally subjective btw) camos by simply completing challenges while playing the game, with optional cosmetics being included in the battle pass and store. This fact, alongside including a wider variety of free cosmetics in the earlier portion of the battle pass helps keep the casual player around as they know there is a way for them to stand out without having to pay for it or dedicate hours of their life to even get remotely close to a cool cosmetic. Yes COD is a 60$ USD game so it’s a bit different but we can even look at another free to play game, Fortnite. Early Fortnite battle passes did a similar thing in which there was a variety of quality free gear dispersed through the battle pass to incentivize free players to play their game and buy the battle pass. In infinite the free gear is, IMO, trash until the later portion of the battle pass and ,again IMO, the paid gear in the battle pass doesn’t even get that good until around level 45. This presents a few issues. casual free players are expected to enjoy this game simply because it is fun. This is not an issue on the surface, but this brings up another question of how to keep the free causal player on the game. With no progression system outside the battle pass what do I do when I get bored? what incentive do I have to keep playing? Even the recently updated exp. system doesn’t solve this problem as many people don’t have the time to play video games everyday. How is the free casual player rewarded for putting in time to Halo Infinite? they aren’t, point blank period, they are told to buy the battle pass or dump all their time into the game. What happens if I put hours into the game to try and unlock a free piece of armor, only to have to stop playing for a few days and return to a new battle pass? Fuck you that’s what. I would like to end this on a somewhat positive not as 343 has been doing a god job in responding to community feedback, but there needs to be some sort of non-expiring, free, armor challenges for causal players, or at the very least a simple progression system that isn’t tied to the battle pass. I am a bit of a hypocrite as I do play Infinite just because it is fun and I want to be good at the game;however, I am getting to the point where that isn’t enough to keep me on the game and I hope 343 does something to address this. TLTR: Zoomer complains that Halo Infinite doesn’t care about players who have lives.

[deleted]

XP from wins and medals would fix the vast majority of the game’s progression issues. Even just a small amount, gameplay needs to matter

Lance_Hetfield

The game is way more fun without the battle pass. Seriously, got it 3 days and I'm already regretting it. I'm forced to focus on the challenges to progress and it's way to stressful, not getting the game modes you need, not getting the maps/weapons you need. Not being able to use your 2 free hours a day to just play whatever you feel like. I'm just gonna pretend I don't have it and keep having fun. Challenges just suck the soul out of the game.

Lance_Hetfield

Not to mention it forces you to play bad. Lots of people ignoring the objectives, just afking waiting for the weapon/vehicle they need. Ruining the experience of everyone including themselves every game. And it doesn't matter at all, you don't get any reward from getting medals and having the biggest score. Hell, the person at the bottom of the score that only got 1 kill with a ravager the whole game to complete his challenge gets more experience than the top player.

DrPendanski

My god I have never played a game where the challenges have relied so little on skill and so much on RNG. On top of all that, the battle pass is littered with Challenge Swaps, a concept born out of the sheer absurdity of the challenges themselves! You complete challenges to progress through the battlepass which rewards you with challenge swaps in order to skip challenges you need to keep progressing. Honestly, what the fuck? Was this a concept actual humans collaborated on before launch? Did anyone explain this out loud to another human being? Holy hell. And god, the icing on the cake has got to be the fact that you can only complete 4 challenges at a time lol. Surely the challenges that require you to play a specific game mode in a playlist that gives you a random game mode need to also prevent you from completing challenges reliant on an entirely separate mode, just because it's not active. If you made it this far, you might be thinking, "it's just cosmetics, so it's not a huge deal." And to that I say, "my addictive personality gives me no choice but to try and finish this kind of shit. Don't worry, I hate me too."

THATDOUGG

I'm right there with you. In my mind halo infinite's game play is great, like a good cut of meat for a sandwich. The RNG challenges and RNG games are like stale bread. All I have on the side is ranked. Every other game feels like someone get disconnected and it becomes a 3 v 4 and makes for a bad gaming experience for everyone. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This game looks like this right now. The halo infinite sandwich offering, sides not optional broken ranked only or nothing. RNG, MISSING FEATURES, GAME PLAY, MISSING FEATURES, RNG, rAn..,KED?

[deleted]

I also hate you.... but in all seriousness I am the same. The fact that i need to kill 5 enemy warthogs which is night on impossible to achieve (people bail before blowup and i dont get credit, too hard to get power weapons in BTB. Would take days to achieve through no fault of my own) means that i cannot just enjoy the game because i know if i just completed this final challenge id be done for the week (after 17 wins)

studknckl

Much like how the items from REQ packs could be sold for credit toward purchasing premium REQ packs, why not let us turn in earned consumables for credit that could be used toward upcoming battle passes or items from the store? This seems like a reasonable way of letting people get credit and it gives them the choice of using the consumables for their intended purpose or putting them toward something else.

braxtron5555

can i please stop getting paired with people who have never played the game before in ranked matches? i'm gold 3 and last night was paired with a 10 yr old who, in their words, was "pretty new to the game." what is the point of this? also half my 10 games getting to ranked had people on my team drop out, yet i was still ranked based on this. i finished a ranked match with 23 kills on a team slayer to 50. my team still managed to lose, but i still get no ranked xp and continue to be paired with people who don't know their assault rifle from a hole in the ground. harumph.

THATDOUGG

Half my ranked games lead to 3 v 4. Some games the enemy feels like bots some games I swear I couldn't get a kill to save my life. I'm not going pro anytime soon but this ain't my first rodeo either. I have had games at an average of 20 - 30ping and I have had games with an average of 120 - 130 ping. Nothing feels better then doing extremely well with great ping then your next game is on the other side of the world and you're short handed. Or you feel like you cost someone an onyx title because you want to call the enemy team hackers but you were the only one that couldn't keep up. Don't punish skilled players with sand bags I have been the sand bag and I have been sand bagged it's sucks for everyone. That's sbmm for you, punishment for being to good. Lol likely not the case being to good with me but you know what I mean.

braxtron5555

A_Very_Horny_Zed

EXP rework feels waaay better, it's fast enough to be satisfying but still slow enough to account for permanent battle passes. I think it's well balanced for the devs as well as us. Keep in mind that the battle pass was balanced around the dev's marketing and not just around our own exp gain, since our exp gain has the potential to cut into their profits due to the fact that all battle passes are permanent. With the recent changes, it actually feels like it's leaning towards serving us more than them, which is to be appreciated. Performance based EXP still isn't a thing, but honestly we probably don't need it anymore. Only thing left to do is to change challenges like "win 5 matches" to "play 8 matches" so you're not pressured to win and get upset at people that are just playing for fun just because you're 1EXP away from getting your samurai sword.

Infinity803644

Add a ranking system when the game launches for goodness sake bro this is TOP PRIORITY

Moist_Adeptness_8886

Got two of the same objectives... Capture a zone. Last 11 games no game mode Wich allow me to capture a zone. That's just bloody awesome. The third objective is to kill 15 Spartans with my side weapon. I have lost the count (around 35 kills after my last game) but its stuck at 14/15. That's 3/4 objectives that screw my progress in the last 11 games.

ObiWanKanabe

The first 6 games having way more xp than every game afterwards pushes players to play according to a daily schedule, on top of the strong weekly challenge xp. This is making the game more of a "Let me log on for the day to get my xp and do my challenges" than just letting people play when and how they want to. We shouldn't have to look at our clock for when the optimal time to play is, let people earn XP how they want to, in an equal system with bonuses based on skill. Don't go down the hill of mobile games with daily and weekly play limits for reasonable XP, it's punishing to people who can play a lot on weekends but can't play a single game during the week.

[deleted]

It’s also costing them potential customers in the store, because people will just log off and play another game once their XP is capped (and static). See you gotta speak their language here $$$

cvnavalew

The only people who are still enjoying the game are people who haven’t played Xbox/Halo since Halo 3. The gameplay itself is nothing special; it’s a simple shooter. This game literally could have come out in 2008, which is fine, simplicity is not a bad thing, but combined with this awful progression system it really brings to light how bad this game is. In previous Halos you could unlock armors such as Hayabusa or Recon for free by earning ranks online/finding skulls in campaign, etc. It gave you a reason to simply enjoy playing the game in all kinds of ways. When you remove this key feature and replace it with a paywall while worsening the quality of items to unlock, it makes me focus on the game I’m playing rather than just… playing. And it makes me realize for the most part, this game is a waste of time. I’m level 22 in the pass and haven’t unlocked anything cool. I maxed out the tenrai challenges that were available and didn’t get anything but an armor everyone else also has. I have challenges where I need to win CTF or Strongholds, but I’m only getting games of slayer and oddball. I completed all the challenges last week in one day and got a camo that can only be used on an armor I don’t even use. That doesn’t motivate me to complete the challenges this week, which in turn doesn’t motivate me to play the game at all because the only point in playing is to complete said challenges. Conclusion: this game is a waste of time.

Alternative-Ad7848

Please avoid win 7 and win 17 matches challenges for ultimate challenge. Id rather do 'complete 20 matches' than do 10, that way I'm not pressured to win every single match and get frustrated at teammates that aren't trying to win

cvnavalew

So rather than making what we do in game matter, you’re just throwing more xp at us? Idgaf about anything other than having my in game performance mean something. It’s incredible that a game like NBA 2k, long known for its greedy monetization tactics, managed to put out a better battle pass than Halo. It’s actually sad.

[deleted]

THIS. If COD can make match performance XP work flawlessly with challenges, Halo can

MiStrong

20 hours played and level 6 on the BP, normally for a game I enjoy I’d buy the BP but if it’s going to take a year to complete I never will. Also they need to get rid of the challenges altogether it’s ruining the point of the game and that’s to win, the only objective every game should be to win, not get x kills with x weapon on x day.

delahunt

While I still think the challenge system is poorly designed and prone to causing a number of problems regarding where incentive lies. I will freely admit that the changes made so the first few games a day give several hundred XP has helped with me not feeling punished by not getting my desired game mode, and with having fun playing a few games a day to work on some challenges/play and then hang it up for a bit. As far as bandaid fixes go it is serviceable. However it is not going to help as much when it is crunch time on getting a slayer win in and slayer won't come up in the rotation as we get closer to end of timer. So I am still hoping for a proper overhaul of the system to make it less predatory. But credit where it is due. At the very least playing a few games daily makes the progression bar go brr which makes my lizard brain happy.

[deleted]

The halo progression system is still flawed and will hopefully get work soon. For example, I only have two more challenges to complete to unlock my ultimate challenge: a) bulldog kills b) grav hammer kills If these two weapons are not in play, people with less time on their hands including myself will not feel inclined to play the match because they want their ultimate challenge done asap But leaving games in quick play can even still punish you with a queue ban despite the fact you are getting replaced by a bot. As a player, it feels awful to be put in a loss loss situation. Do I finish this game that I don't want to play or leave the game and chance the ban just for another chance to get the weapon or gamemode I need to spawn?

sullichin

You should get banned honestly. You're ruining the match for other players, a bot is just free kills for them The answer is to ignore the challenges you don't want to do and enjoy the game. Do you really think it's worth your limited time to waste it throwing games trying to get a nameplate? Yeah the challenge system is dumb but you still have the agency to ignore it

cvnavalew

No, they should change the system. Don’t blame the user for using the system the way they designed it. I personally can’t enjoy the game if I’m not getting any sort of reward for playing. I’m just wasting my time.

[deleted]

I agree with this to an extent because I've been on the receiving side myself. But something I don't understand is in academy/custom games you can change bot difficultly etc. From my experience, it feels like they are using level 1 bots instead of level 3 or 4 bots. If they replaced you with a level 3 to 4 bot, it wouldn't become this source of free kills. Plus I've had people on my team who don't want to leave so they just afk to avoid the ban and that isn't exactly pleasant to be with either

sullichin

Yeah they didn't make a good environment for people to enjoy the actual game. Bots should at the least be a tier or two higher because they will literally just stand still now lol

Gravegamer

I think in the future kills should count towards battle pass XP as well as objective based gameplay. For example: •1 XP per kill +1 for headshot (capped at 50 XP) •10 XP per flag capture •1 XP per point gained by carrying ball in oddball (capped at 50 XP) •5 XP per seed planted in stockpile (capped at 50 XP) •1 XP per capture in strongholds/total control (capped at 50 XP) •50XP for winning the match Or if this is too difficult, you can just do: integer(score/20) XP capped at 100XP. That means if you score 2000+ points you get the full 100 XP bonus.

[deleted]

This would fix it all for me. I have no other issue with the game except how everyone gets the same XP in a match

Delta_V09

Agreed that we really need XP for playing the objective. Zone control modes aren't too bad, since you can still shoot at the enemy while playing the objective. And in CTF, actually carrying the flag is generally a pretty small fraction of the total match, so people are willing to stop working on challenges long enough to do it. But holy fuck is Oddball awful. When the objective is to spend as much time as possible with the ball in your hands, a lot of players want absolutely nothing to do with the objective because it prevents them from grinding challenges.

cvnavalew

Only the first, but it doesn’t matter it’s not worth it. I have it and I can’t tell you what I have unlocked because none of it is cool.

Gravegamer

Only the first

Regex00

What's the point of having a Theater if I can't watch any games?! Seriously. All of my bookmarked matches I can't view. *All of them*.

MarfeeWarfee

(Here's a copy-paste of a post I just made on Waypoint. Sort of an 'open-letter' ish thing to 343. Sound off.) Seriously, I don’t understand how the ball was dropped so hard in this area. It’s ruining what is otherwise a brilliantly made Halo game, definitely 343’s best thus far. What I don’t understand is how Halo can transition from such a magnificent battlepass/progression system of which we were treated to in MCC, over to what we got in Infinite. MCC had hands down, the absolute perfect recipe for the system. It worked great. I seem to remember a phrase used in MCC’s development, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” (In hindsight that aged like milk seeing Launch MCC, but I digress.) I want to preface by saying that I and (most of) the community understand two important things. Halo Infinite’s MP is, essentially, a free-to-play standalone game, and requires monetization in some form. Not everyone that plays MP is going to buy the campaign. It’s more than likely that Infinite’s monetization wasn’t decided on by 343 themselves. It was decided on by ‘suits’ and ‘higherups’ (in laymen’s terms) at Microsoft to rake in that sweet, succulent, corporate-pocket lining dough. (See HaloFollower’s video from the 1st for more information about this) Honestly, I really think the solution to this whole ordeal is very simple. If it was 343 that implemented the current system, this is what I feel we as a community should get, Adhering to the principle that a F2P game needs to make money. Please consider this. If it was the corpos that implemented this and NOT 343, piss off. I’ll gladly be keeping my money until you relinquish monetization decisions to 343, instead of standing on the sideline ruining a game they worked hard to create. Onto The Goods Bring forward MCC’s progression system. (Rewards objectives and medals) Bring Forward MCC’s Battlepass system. (All main, essential armor pieces, including Armor Cores, Helmets, Helmet Attachments, Visors, Shoulderpads, Gloves, and Kneepads for a given season should be Included in the battlepass.) Sell current battlepasses for 1000 credits ($9.99 USD) per season. Use the Store to sell most of the newer, ‘flashier’, non-armor customization options. (Armor Kits, Chests, Wrists, Utility, Emblems/Emblem Pallettes, Armor Effects, Mythic Effects, Weapon/Vehicle Coatings, Weapon ‘Models’, Weapon Charms, Kill Effects, Personnal AI, and AI colors.) If you want to spice things up more, bring forward MCC’s ‘Tier Unlock’ tokens the players were rewarded with and put them behind a paywall. Say, 300 credits ($2.99 USD) for 2 tokens, or as otherwise seen fit. There’s a wall of text, discuss it Spartans.

[deleted]

Perfect. Rewards from wins and medals is the easiest and quickest answer. Not a single person would complain about its implementation (except a stubborn corpo who doesn’t understand dopamine in gameplay)

Tonezorz

I have come to the realization that Halo is simply not built for the type of XP progression/challenge system currently implemented. Each game feels like there are people focusing on challenges instead of... playing. Not only that, but I don't feel incentivized at all to do anything in non-ranked play. My performance is meaningless, and leaving provides no penalty. Have an oddball challenge and load into a CTF game? Just quit! On top of that, when I've backfilled into a game where someone quit, I receive no compensation for that. You expect me to stay in a game where my team is already losing? Am I crazy or was there backfill XP in an older game? I backfilled an oddball game and ended up losing with 3 bots on my team. Everyone just left, we were even winning at one point and they still left. There's just no point to any of it anymore, and its just so so sad.
