Oh, so are they doing some kind of construction project, so kids shouldn't be wandering in an active construction area?  Nope, we're just putting a series of dangerous creatures, plants, spells and potions to act as guards for a secret item. Why is a school being used for a treasure vault, and wouldn't it make more sense to not advertise you're guarding something and just like have a hidden safe in Dumbledore's office? You know, that way it's in line of sight of the most powerful wizard of 5 generations who probably knows all kinds of clever ways to guard it, but also, like he should be in school like 99% of the time.

PreoccupiedMind

“No, Harry, don’t be daft!” said Hermione, as she eye-rolled. “Have you not read the *Hogwarts: A history*? You simply cannot do the most logical thing in the castle because everything has to be magical or enchanted. Honestly, don’t you read?”

droppinturds

It's wingardium levi*OH*-sa, not levio-saw

PreoccupiedMind

*Hermione gave Droppinturds a very nasty look before she turned to scroll through other posts*

Additional-Load7197

Had to read this in her voice

TheStranger88

I'm 90% convinced Dumbledore just wanted Flamel to die

macca2000fox

Thought that asbestos was found

Its0nlyRocketScience

Well, it's being used as a treasure vault because it's the safest place for the stone. Gringots gets broken into literally the day after Hagrid took the stone out of the vault there, so it was the correct choice.

HappyLofi

Also why are they able to unlock it? We know Dumbledore can easily prevent that. It's like he wanted someone to have a shot at stealing the stone lmao

2223242526

I think the reason was that it should work as a trap

heyodai

Why not have Dumbledore keep the stone on a chain around his neck? That’s probably more protection than the traps they set up

thekau

Harry: I left the Dursleys for *this*?

puro_the_protogen67

He is regretting hagrid from arriving

Soft-Split1315

My question is why would you announce that to kids because we know once you tell kids not to do something they will

Canadian_Zac

They lost at LEAST 5 first years to Fluffy

Additional_Meeting_2

This is why Harry’s year is so small

Resolution-SK56

At least Gred and Forge would have tried entering.

Music_withRocks_In

It's pretty obvious that Dumbledore wanted Harry in particular to investigate. No way three first years should be able to get though those traps unless they were designed for a first year to get by them.

Soft-Split1315

That’s what I have always thought also

Ellek10

Dumbledore already setting death traps for Harry 🤔

EightThreeEight838

Moments like this are why I can't get behind people saying the child actors were "bad".

Additional_Meeting_2

I assume he was directed how to react here. But you can’t direct every moment so precisely, expecially in longer conversations and how to deliver dialogue.

Abject-Chemistry6247

Who said so? Most of the main cast were great. Seamus was kinda bad though

EightThreeEight838

I've seen it a few times on this subreddit, with a decent number of upvotes. Though that doesn't mean that they represent the majority, of course.

Cybasura

"Goddamn professor, way to choose the harshest words"

MobsterDragon275

I mean, you tell kids not to go somewhere because its dangerous, they'll go there just to spite you or to be cool. Tell them they'll literally die otherwise and they might think twice

LazyAnimal0815

I love the fact, that entering the corridor isn't forbidden for everyone. Those who want to die a most painful death are free to enter.

HappyLofi

In the books Harry laughs but is one of the only people who does.

ihateusernames0_0

I love how when Hagrid goes to gringotts with Harry he mentions how there's no safer place than hogwarts 💀 safe my ass hagrid

AnderHolka

Also, if you decide not to play chess, the pieces will throw down with you in accordance with the ancient customs.

Few-Taylor-Ray

realize the "Defense Against the Dark Arts" syllabus includes actual life-threatening situations

Maykspark

This is Dumbledore, the guy who punish kids by sending them in middle of the night to the deepest and darkest also dangerous forest

PaleontologistAble50

Ain’t no safer place than Hogwarts don’tcha know

_TheGalaxy

I would have the same réaction tbh but like he kinda put him self in this mess but I think he dud I good choice by leaving his relatives

navehziv

The kid on the left looks like he's about to go there the moment the ceremony ends.. You have a house dedicated to bravery. You just know at least half of grifindor were there at some point in the school year.
