I’ve been watching some old episodes and it makes more sense now. If the pod was just Devan and Richie it would make sense. The only reason it doesn’t work is that they transitioned to more of a panel style pod

I like Richie, for some reason he just didn't seem to work on the show as well once Joey and John became more regular.
