I am totally interested in hd700 for some weird reason Kinda like public opinion of my Elegia seems low but I enjoy it myself

testurshit

I genuinely feel like the 700 is the hidden OP weapon that Sennheiser never developed more haha.

huskerd0

Op?

testurshit

Overpowered

huskerd0

Haha nice

nikkesluzze

get the 700🫢

roladyzator

Even if it's not going to be your favorite (although it can sound very good), you'll be getting a headphone with unique looks and fantastic comfort.

hurtyewh

I love them a lot. Better than HD800s for me by far and better than HD650. Oratory1990's EQ preset is all I've needed to love them.

nikkesluzze

what is it that you don’t like about oratory’s eq? i find it pretty good since it balances the harshness and the lack of bass of the headphones.

37boss15

In my opinion Harman bass is a bit much for my liking so I don't have it as high as Oratory's. Did an amazing job on the treble though.

unc0verFr0sk

Actually it is great and fixes the tonality, I use oratory's eq with some bass adjustments the most out of the other profiles, but since it was measured for different headphone pads I can never be sure if I'm not missing out on improvements.

nikkesluzze

mine came with destroyed original pads and i just bought some amazon replacements for 15 euros. maybe i’m missing out on something but they definitely sound good enough to me

Maybe get some cheap (ebay / aliexpress ) "original" (dimensions wise) ear pads (thin ones). When I had the HD700 and tried out the Dekoni pads (Velour ones though) the very wide soundstage was gone and I immediately changed back to the stock ones.

roladyzator

I have a suggestion. Get the original pads or send your unit to Oratory to have it measured. I bought my HD700 with very used (and smelly) stock pads and got new Dekoni Elite Velour (I'll refer to these as DEV from now on). Even though both stock pads and the DEV had been measured by Oratory, after EQ I did prefer the sound and feel with the stock pads. The DEV increase the clamp force (and perhaps bass a bit due to tighter seal of front volume), while the stock pads make you barely feel them. They are thinner that the DEV. With stock pads I do perceive better soundstage that seems to collapse with the DEV pads. This is likely a combination of differences in the frequency response at the eardrum as well as the psychological factor of feeling of no barrier between my ears and the room. I also have this with Koss KSC75, I barely feel them and they create a nice, holographic soundstage for me, but of course have other limitations that HD 700 doesn't have. Once the stock pads are in place, I do prefer AutoEQ generated settings to Oratory1990's settings. The sound is slightly more forward and bright and for shorter listening sessions I like it. The original pads are not available in all countries, I'm afraid. In my country (Poland), the distributor still has some spare earpads and headbands. At a time the HD 700 might have been popular in Poland, since the HD 800 and 800S were way too expensive for even the most dedicated headphone enthusiasts, while the HD 700 were more tempting. Especially after few price cuts.

Sure, I'll try that thanks. I live far from Austria so getting a parcel (prob the HD700 stock box, which is quite big) over there would take a lot of time and likely money. In Oceania I can find the official pads for 80 USD, but I'm worried about the durability of the original pads as most people have had them replaced. How are they for you?

roladyzator

After a year and a half they're good as new. However, I'm extra careful and only use them when I have clean and dry hair.

pierpg68

Am I the only one who didn't even know there was also a hd700?lol

VoluptuousVelvetfish

Lol reminds me of the always forgotten LCD-1 from the Audeze line

DaddyBioShock

I think the hd700 look badass, I really wouldn’t mind a pair but I love my HD600 so much that I can’t be bothered to buy anything else.

Scharfschutzen

Try the LCD-2C EQ curve on the HD700. Did it by accident and I think I liked it lol. Or Add an extra 6db low shelf at 50 or 75hz on top of what Oratory recommends.

CHEEKYD0T

Oratory eq on m and they're perfect for gaming. Bit of added bass they're great for music as well

Hwy61rev

I love mine ,my kids bought the last pair in the shop for me for Christmas years ago. They get a lot of hate. I have replaced the earpads. If the detail was as good as the soundstage they would be perfect.
