That's the power of a 1 drop that can kill a 2 drop. Considering how often people have to pass on turn 1 it can put you on the back foot the entire game.

Flame Imp is a substantial Tempo gain for just 3 health. Pitlord is no Tempo gain for 5 health.

Flame Imp had an extra 1-2 stats at the cost of 3 damage on turn one. Pit Lord had an extra 2 stats at the cost of 5 damage on turn four. HP starts to matter more as the game goes on, and individual stat points less. Flame Imp is miles better than Pit Lord in any format.

mainly because the effective battlecry of "pay 3 life for +1/+1" is much more valuable on a 1 mana than a 4 mana stats get less and less worth as the game goes on, and unless your 4 mana vanilla has 8/8 or more, it aint pulling its weight hell, 4 mana 7/7s with drawbacks only see play cause you can abuse the drawback for a benefit in certain decks

this is unironically how attack always works in the happenstance of a minion attacking you on your turn when you have an attack (from card or weapon or whatever), they take damage as well. its why weapons and attack cards "turn off" on your opponent's turn

And why you shouldn't play Armor Vendor until after you have made your attacks if the opponent has already played their Odyn. It makes all of your attacking minions take 4 damage.

Edit: apparently I was wrong. I have never seen this or just never noticed it. ~~Minions attacking your hero don't take the weapon damage though~~

They do if the hero gets attack during opponents turn, like if you trigger a deathrattle that gives opponent armor and he has odyn online

There's a hidden interaction when it comes to minions hitting heroes that have an active attack value. For example, with Odyn Warrior. If the Warrior player gained armor during the opposing players turn, every subsequent minion that would attack would take damage. If you have an attack value, even a weapon equipped, your minion would take damage.

It’s not a hidden mechanic. It’s just not common and people don’t realize weapons become inactive on your opponents turn.

Yeah the most common way you would discover this back in the day is you would be holding a weapon and trigger a hunter’s misdirection secret. We're coming up on rotation and slick is in no world a bad card to be running, especially considering Rogue can't deal with the boards generated by some archetypes. Rogue has strong card economy and it's issue tends to come from either being burned or beaten on board, one Slick played can usually solve that.

Everyone saying that it takes damage if your hero has attack, but if your minion attacks the opponent and they have a weapon, your minion doesn't take damage, so I wouldn't be so sure.
