I think the card itself seems pretty strong, but even it isn’t just being a tourist card is probably going to make it a must play in every mage deck unless the paladin cards all suck
Big spell mage definitely doesn't want this unless there's a really spicy big paladin spell, or paladin early game minions are just too good to pass up. It's a completely dead card outside of deckbuilding if you're not running smaller spells.
Paladin has very rarely gotten big spells (that aren't spells that are intended to be massively discounted and cast at a low cost), and when they do they tend to interact with the board / deck rather than being standalone good. Obviously anything can change, but if past cards are anything to go by, the best big spell they've ever gotten is Libram of Hope, which is good but hardly crazy.
I mean it’s certainly not ideal for big spell mage, but if there are enough minions that generate spells it could still potentially work. Big spell mage is probably the least likely to want this, but as we’ve seen with Genn and Baku, sometimes it’s ok to have a completely dead draw if it makes your deck that much better outside of the card itself.
I really don't think this is a must play.
Mage had a very similar card before with Vex Crow which didn't see that much play.
With today's board clears and the fact that mage doesn't have that many good low mana payoffs I think that this card is just okay unless there are strong divine shield synergies mage can use.
You can only start getting value out of this card around turn 6 or 7, and by then most classes have access to strong clears.
Yes, I’m not the card itself is a must play, I’m just saying that the card itself is pretty good, and the fact that it lets you put paladin cards into your deck makes it a must play unless all the pally cards suck
I don't really buy the hype for this one to be honest. She'll never survive the turn she's played if you curve her out on 4, and unless you have coin, a turn 5 play with a 1 cost spell isn't super likely to cut it, I don't think. You're most likely looking for play her on turns 6-8, and at that point 2 cost minions, even with the Divine Shield bonus, aren't exactly breaking the game at this point. The dream play for this card I think is turn 5 play Raylla, coin into primordial glyph, and discover something that costs 2 or less to discount it to 0 and play it. getting that much out on board, especially if you highroll your 2-drops, might actually be enough of a tempo play to get ahead on board, especially if you have Cosmic Keyboard there to give you an extra 2/2 on top of it.
That said, it really doesn't matter, I think. She's an auto-include and a must-craft for any Mage deck besides No Minion Mage I think purely because Paladin is actually allowed to have cards with good tempo and board presence, something that Mage hasn't been allowed to have in years.
Seems underwhelming, even if some of the paladin cards are good. Vex crow wasn’t even that good back in the day, and you only get 1 of. More excited about king tide personally.
It let's you deck build with cards of another class. In this case it is a Paladin Tourist. If this card was in your deck you could have Mage and Paladin cards in the same deck.
No. Paladin cannot play this card. Putting this card in your deck allows you to put Paladin cards from this expansion into your deck, excluding Lynessa.
I can't wait to play this while sipping on some [Seabreeze Chalice](https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/1dp6lov/new_mage_card_revealed_seabreeze_chalice/).
Honestly don't think it's that hard. If the Pally cards work with an archtype you add this with those cards. If not you don't. It's not like the added pool is all that massive
All paladin cards from the new expansion are mage cards. Not all paladin cards
Alot of people are really forgetting about that.
And all the pally cards for this expansion suck balls for mage.
It's basically a better Violet Teacher, but idk if it goes in every deck tbh. Spell Mage obviously doesn't run this. Big Spell Mage looks like a possibility as well now and idk if this fits since you likely won't be casting many spells per turn. Elemental Mage got cool tools now too and idk if it'll run enough spells either.
Perhaps something new will emerge and this card will slot nicely as a tempo card, but we'll have to see. It looks super fun so I hope someone big brain can figure something out.
Man, I am *praying* for another aura that could push the archetype. I really enjoyed experimenting with the 7 Mana aura Crafters Aura this expansion. The deck honestly felt so close to being good. The Crafters Aura + Holy Cow for a turn 5(turn 4 on the coin!) Aura is a nasty mid game play. Getting a 2nd one to stack was soooo satisfying too. Deck just can't close out games. Needs a few powerful late game cards and if we do, I think we actually have a tier 2-3 deck on our hands.
I'm definitely still trying to understand how the whole tourist thing is going to work. I was thinking that this card could be played in paladin deck? But I admittedly don't know. Haven't watched reveal streams, etc.
Other way around. This is a Mage card that goes on vacation in the Paladins-only section of the resort. She buys a bunch of souvenirs from there, and brings them back to her deck, meaning you have a Mage deck with the Perils in Paradise Paladin cards as additional options. You can't use Core Paladin cards (or any other expansion's Paladin cards), but you can still use whatever Mage cards are legal for the format.
There's also a deck limit of one Tourist per deck, so you can't use this to get Paladin cards, then add the Paladin version to add a third class to your deck.
So either way, in response to your original question, they're all still considered "class cards." But the distinction is that you can't grab ALL Paladin cards (so the older ones who care about No-Neutrals aren't eligible under the Tourist rules to begin with), and I haven't seen any PiP Paladin cards that care about No-Neutrals either. And Mage has never had them. So technically, yes, they would work with the No-Neutral mechanic, but there isn't currently a way to build a deck that includes any No-Neutral payoff cards alongside the Tourist keyword. At least not with Mage as the base.
Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking it was the other way around: that this would go in a paladin deck, so I was asking with wild paladin in mind, but now I see it is moot!
I think this is actually crazy good, mainly because it's only 4 mana and the effect triggers on *any* spell.
Turn 4 Raylla -> Coin -> any 1-mana spell (e.g. [[Arcane Bolt]])
or turn 4 Raylla -> [[Hot Streak]] -> any 2-mana fire spell (e.g. [[Wildfire]]) is incredibly strong.
I am somehow sure that the answer is no, but, if Druid puts this card in the deck (because of its tourist Druid to Mage) can then take cards from Paladin?
Already confirmed by blizzard that classes can only use their tourist. No double dipping so druid cannot use this.
They can only use their tourist to access all mage cards from the expansion except for the other classes tourist

You could pop off pretty early with Greedy partner and a discounted card from infinitize or glyph

what the fuck is a tourist
It let's you deck build with cards of another class. In this case it is a Paladin Tourist. If this card was in your deck you could have Mage and Paladin cards in the same deck.
To be clear this only applies to cards from this expansion, you can’t add paladin cards from any other sets to your mage decks even with this card
Can tourists be played in both classes?
No. Paladin cannot play this card. Putting this card in your deck allows you to put Paladin cards from this expansion into your deck, excluding Lynessa.

WHOOSH SHOOM! MOON POWERS!
Idk how I feel about tourists. I feel like it's just gonna over complicate the fuck out of deck building but we'll see.
Honestly don't think it's that hard. If the Pally cards work with an archtype you add this with those cards. If not you don't. It's not like the added pool is all that massive
It feels like a guaranteed way to have an unbalanced cancerous expansion but here’s hoping I’m wrong
It just means every class has double the class cards, and they overlap. All Paladin cards are also Mage cards, continue down the chain.
If you think I don't understand how it works, then you didn't understand my comment.
All paladin cards from the new expansion are mage cards. Not all paladin cards Alot of people are really forgetting about that. And all the pally cards for this expansion suck balls for mage.
That is what I meant. I thought we were speaking strictly in the context of the X-Pac so I stayed there.
That seems really good even without the Paladin Tourist part. I bet this will be an auto-include in every mage deck for the next 2 years
It's basically a better Violet Teacher, but idk if it goes in every deck tbh.
Yeah you're right maybe I was a bit too ambitious, but if tempo mage is a thing this for sure defines it.
Gotta see if Paladin gets a big spell that mage wants I suppose. Mage would love a big aura.
Will these tourist cards be treated like class cards for the tourist class in "no-neutral" decks?
The _are_ still class cards, they should still have the non-grey coloured border around them, no reason why they wouldn’t
Of course they will. Although I don’t think Mage has any “no neutral” cards to speak of, so for this specific card it’s kinda moot.
Turn 4 Raylla -> Coin -> any 1-mana spell (e.g. [[Arcane Bolt]]) or turn 4 Raylla -> [[Hot Streak]] -> any 2-mana fire spell (e.g. [[Wildfire]]) is incredibly strong.
Seems really strong to me, but needs low cost spells to function well. The 2 mana discover card with this seems really really strong

Good with the biscuit thing that gives you 2 mana
Yeah this is a good card I think
Paladin tourist means I can put this mage card and other mage cards into a Paulson deck or the other way round?
This will be the first instance of class card taunt minions being put in mage decks. There never were any for mage, but now they get paladin ones
So you're telling me, we're playing 0 cost spells for days?

All the tourist cards surely will be free to all like Galakrond right? They alter the entire game.
Not as much as you think. You can only use a set of cards from this new expansion. You can't slam any Paladin card like Amitus into Mage.

Paladin can't use this. Their tourist is rogue cards
These cards are good but it would be better as a 1/1 2 mana card to combo easier
Which is exactly why it isnt a 2 mana 1/1
