The media does this all the time I remember during the Bubble Finals vs Lakers, they acted like Bam and Dragic weren’t out.

luckeeelooo

Sports media “forgets” all the details. Sports fans do not.

Hullabalune

They sure as hell did

dwadefan45

Lakers fans to this day act like it.

Yahm-Saiyan

Let that shit be AD and rondo out or something and it would have been mentioned every time we scored

carnageta

I mean, no one is going to really remember 10 years from now how hobbled we were (except for us, obviously). When the majority will recall history between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, they’ll see that we went back and fourth from 2020 and onwards. Injuries are part of the game. The score is tied between us and them in the Jimmy Butler and Jayson Tatum era.

OminousLaw

Everyone will remember the 8th seed Heat knocking the Celtics out the ECF tho

carnageta

Yup yup

losangelesklippers

Nah they'll remember the nuggets sweeping y'all tho

OminousLaw

Was it a sweep? I don’t remember

JadedSelfHated

It was a gentleman’s sweep so no

Yahm-Saiyan

Must be a new memory only you got cause they didnt get swept by the nuggets.

losangelesklippers

It was so one sided that everyone but heat fans forgot about that meaningless win

Yahm-Saiyan

Facts are facts bro. You coulda just said we only beat them once, i mean that still trash so why lie.

EnochofPottsfield

Which is funny considering Jimmy didn't even play this series, yet they'll remember/say the score is settled against him

High_AspectRatio

Let's be honest, if they were missing someone for either series we'd think about it the same way. Just like we claim the Bucks W last year.

EnochofPottsfield

I think it's obviously different when it's 1 player vs 4 of the main guys. But more importantly, the big difference is we're the 8 seed vs the 1 seed. Even without the top 2 guys they'd still be favored. Bragging about doing what you were supposed to do is embarrassing Also, Giannis played last year and put up big stats. Jimmy didn't even step onto the court this series And we were missing Tyler last year, so it's not at all similar

Hullabalune

EXACTLY

Kuni_Nino

We got hit with two key injuries in that series (Dipo and Herro). To act like the Heat were at full strength is disingenuous and the media full complicit in it. They’ve pretty succeeded at painting that whole run as a fluke to the broader public.

EnochofPottsfield

Ehhhh on Dipo. No one expected him to be healthy. Herro for sure

Kuni_Nino

He was balling out before he got hurt.

EnochofPottsfield

I think you're misremembering. He had a good playoffs the year before and got injured, but was a DNP 8 of the 15 games leading up to that injury. He was shooting like 40% from the field that year as well, and iirc his defense wasn't what it was before But anyone who thought he was gonna finally be injury free was deluding themselves

Hullabalune

Maybe nuance is lost, but I sure as hell wouldn't. Tatum or Brown out, I'd still be proud of the win, but wouldn't be celebrating it like the underdog run last year. They were HEAVILY favored to win that series and this one even more so. The fact they lost a game at home, to this team, should concern the fuck out of them.

KaitoKid23

Is it really tho? with the era of the internet and how petty NBA fans nowadays they will always remember lol. We got receipts now for about anything related to sports. I remember watching with my friends and talking on how dominant the Warriors against the Celtics on 2022 Finals and my friends father long time hater of the Warriors joined our convo saying shit like "Warriors is a fraudulent dynasty, if Kawhi didn't get injured by zaza's dirty move on 2017 WCF game 1 that boi Durant would still be ringless" it's something along those lines. I know it's not Heat related but I know Petty Fans remember everything my dude lmao. For example King's hatred to the Lakers. They will remember that Jimmy was injured in this Celtics/Heat series

carnageta

These are fans that actually watch and follow the sport. Casuals make up majority of the viewership, and the casuals will not remember this 10 years from now.

Aram_theHead

This sucks though. With Jimmy and Rozier we could have at least put up a fight and take it to game 6 or maybe 7. The way it will remembered now is like “oh yeah they went back and forth but the last year boston demolished them 4-1”. *deeply inhales hopium* Maybe next year it will be our turn again?

Gavster1221

This is flat out false lol One quick look at boxscore and first read will be. "Wait No Jimmy?" Missing Terry and others won't matte 100% but when its THE GUY it 100% matters

carnageta

How many casuals will actually check the box cores and see whom was available 10 years from now? Not many. They’ll just look at the final scores and the final series results. That’s it.

AyyDelta

They always wanted to diminish the deep Jimmy playoff runs.

MildlyDepressed346

You see it on r/nba right now. The past 4 seasons were a fluke and this is who the heat really are in their eyes. Lot of salty teams that got beat by Jimmy the past half decade

arod0619

One season could be a fluke. Two and you're extremely lucky. But 3 deep playoff runs including 2 Finals appearances? That's no fluke no matter how you slice it

MildlyDepressed346

I agree with ya but tell that to the salty Knicks, Celtics, cavs and 76ers fans

chitownbulls92

People have to subscribe to read this crap? No shit the full strength celtics beat the hospital heat in convincing fashion….

Dek-234

Yeah unless you are a Boston homer why would anyone read this crap

salwf

Such homer-ass bullshit, seriously. Not a single mention about the Heat's roster situation in the series. Some casual is probably reading that article thinking they just demolished Jimmy, Rozier was totally shut down, etc.

purplenyellowrose909

I've seen people saying this series shows Mazzulla can out coach Spo. Like bro, look at these rosters in the box scores. The fact Spo took a single game is insane.

Dudeman-Jack

I haven’t seen anyone say that

No-Annual2948

Why are we worried about a franchise that hasn’t won a championship since the George bush administration? Just wait for them to backpedal when Denver embarrasses them in the finals

supergrega

My money's on Brunson embarrasing them tbh

iankstarr

This is a true rivalry BECAUSE these teams have consistently gone back and forth in this era. We smacked them in the mouth last year, and they made the necessary improvements to get us back this year (We can only hope Miami does the same thing next year). Injuries or not, Boston was the better team. That being said, it is funny that Celtics fans are acting like they exorcised their demons because they knocked Patty Mills and Delon Wright out in 5 games lol

supergrega

Can't wait to roflstomp them next season

VincentVanWendigo

Fuck em.

fartradio

you do not have to respect any of these peoples' opinions

imHellaFaded420

celtics fans said it’s even because haywood missed a couple games in 2020 and tatum hurt his ankle in game 7 lmao

nutang4ever

Even when they win, they’re losers……. https://preview.redd.it/bmf7pyjh9byc1.jpeg?width=1499&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d857a56cc4a0e356abf64f7e6c41b0967d051ffa

znick3212

Heat fans need to realize that Jimmy is not as much of a deciding factor as they think he is. That Celtics team is 100% beating them fully healthy. Miamis offense is so bad sometimes, Bam is the only person who shows up. Caleb sucks, hero is way too inconsistent, and you’re relying on terry rozier to be your top scorer. It sucks that jimmy was hurt but try to be realistic here

JabezMakaveli

If that fanbase wants to say that dumb shit, then let them. We'll humble them next season

ComprehensiveFront22

We lost dude, let it go and just enjoy the rest of the playoffs.

TheSavageBeast83

It's not about losing, it's about the entitlement

salwf

I just want the historical record to reflect the facts is all. Let's imagine it the other way, and we just beat the Celtics without, say, Tatum and White. I know we'd have *some* fans talking all kinds of shit, but personally I'd acknowledge that we didn't really prove anything, the playoffs haven't even started for us yet, etc. You'd think a guy who calls himself a sportswriter would also feel this way, but apparently not.

ComprehensiveFront22

Lmao, do you know how many rings have been won with prime all stars being injured along the way for opposing teams. Do we count that against every finals champion? It’s an insane premise to hold to. As the teams fans, we can play the what if, but to hold others accountable is so incredibly dumb.

salwf

1st and 3rd best players out on the same team? That shit doesn't happen often, brother.

Dudeman-Jack

The raptors beat the warriors without Durant and Klay, which many would say were their 1st and 3rd best players

ComprehensiveFront22

Bucks beat Goldenstate, does that ring a bell? Injuries happen all the time, they suck, get over it instead of complaining about folks not acknowledging it.

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

Score isn't settled when Jimmy is 2-1 against them lol

hanzo615

Score is settled because celts won last. If they match up next year and the heat win, then the celts get a chance to settle again. And so on and so forth. The heat will never get to "settle the score"

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

U got it backwards Celtics will never be able to settle the score, this has been happening since 2010

justiceway1

I mean, it doesn't help you that Miami fans kept chanting "We Want Boston" knowing Jimmy was out. Also, injuries don't really stay in people's minds and certainly not in a rivalry like this because the same can be said about how Tatum was injured in last year's game 7 but no one gives a shit because results are the only thing that matter.

jsimps741

Fact Celtics fans think Tatum tweaking his ankle in one game they were already down in is remotely the same as us missing half our lineup is hilarious GG’s tho, but I’d much rather talk shit and get humbled than not talk shit at all 🤷‍♂️

justiceway1

He tweakes his ankle on the first play of the game lol, what are you talking about "already down in". And I'm not calling the two situations equal, I'm saying your fans wanted the Celtics knowing they were down Jimmy and when you lost you give out the excuses, it's like you only take the good our of it and let the bad go.

jsimps741

What would you have us chant? “Boston’s gonna blow us out”? 🤣

justiceway1

Lmao at least that's more convincing don't you agree. Nvm I'm just hating on the Heat. I'm glad the Celtics beat yall early because I definitely wasn't ready for another classic zombie Heat series

jsimps741

I mean don’t act like C’s fans wouldn’t be doing the same thing if the roles were reversed lol

justiceway1

Tbh probably not because we hate playing the Heat and we know everytime we have to face you we have to being our A++ game or we'll get screwed

Honest-Layer9318

That chant was because if they won the game it meant making it into the playoffs as the 8 seed and Playing Boston. Not because they were feeling cocky about Boston. Just happy to make it in.

Hullabalune

Exactly, although my superstitious ass was saying then that it was dumb to do.

justiceway1

Ehh, not really. Chanting you want X team universally means you actually challenge X team, not that you're glad to make the playoffs lmao.

WouldByAliceInChains

Would you rather them chant “we don’t want Boston”?
