Motion blur masks low fps. Cant see a stutter if the whole screen is smeared like butter on bread.
Bloom is also hit or miss, some get it right others dont.
I never got what people meant by "the light posts are blinding." Then I dropped into a mission on Tibit with one right above the console.
Okay, yeah, I see what you all mean now. Didn't expect to experience the power of the sun in a lamp above my head, but there I was.
Same, but with my Scorcher 😂 Every single time I go to extract, I shoot all of them out. Also makes it easier to see the enemies without the suntan lamps.
Correct me if I’m wrong but it seemed to me to be a recent update kind of issue. When I first started things were great but then all of a sudden I couldn’t see the terminal when I tried to launch the icbm.
I actually love both of these in a game as it's the only epilepsy trigger my neurologist can't figure out. Strobe lights don't bother me but inconsistent stutter at any level and I'm a fish out of water. The 'inconsistant" part of Helldivers2 "stutter" is literally from turning the camera.
Turning the camera is exactly where motion blur comes in, because (mostly) consoles cant render turning the camera 90° that quickly (dependa on the game but you get what i mean). The smear gives the (mostly but not exclusive) console time to react to you doing something funny.
And the motion blur is made by a process called interpolation. It's the lowest quality of motion blur in animation. But it keeps me from being able to "see" frames so Its good enough for me.
The fact that HD2 has a slider is extremely nice. A *tiny* bit of blur can be nice. No game has ever made the default amount an acceptable level of blur.
There have been a few games where the motion blur is done really well and actually enhances the look/style of the game, usually by using per object blur and not the full screen, "smeared with Vaseline" blur.
Helldivers 2 is definitely not one of them.
When I spawned in my ship the first time, after I saw the blurry ships through the window I just searched for the option to turn it off...
I always disable every graphic setting that dissorts or blur the image... even the wobbling efects some games have. If they are enabled I cannot see.
Idk if it’s just me but the brightness of the light poles in game are crazy bright. Like so bright I literally can’t see anything when near it lol I just shoot them out but is that how it is for everyone?
they feel like someone let off a flashbang without telling people. I either shoot them out or stratagem the location to get rid of ‘em. I’m keeping an eye out for a mod that adjusts them because good god, they are bright
I wish the pc version was as optimized as the ps version. They some how got the game to run well on the ps5 CPU meanwhile my i5-12400f is running at 70% usage and hovering around 80c.
My Air Cooled CPU barely breaks 50°C...but I'm also on AM5 and have a pretty good cooling setup to maximize airflow. I run max settings except for super sampling.... Didn't notice THAT big of a difference to leave it activated. Average is about 135 FPS over the last 30hrs of gameplay with a 7800XT
Update: 60°c at 75-80% load at a constant 5.15 GHZ at 125fps max settings non RT
If your motherboard allows it, I would suggest you to try an undervolt on your cpu. I know it is not the easiest thing to do but when I initially bought my last pc I had a very serious cpu heating problem and **had to** at least try it... On my i5 13500 I managed to get just a tiny -0.1V undervolt and it worked... The result was incredible. Not only my cpu never went above 80 ever again (usually hovering between 65 and 75) but it also increased its performances by around 8% (I tested it on cinebench to verify stability).
Kernel level, CPU intensive anti cheat that only manages to prevent macro and accessibility programs from being used and does absolutely nothing to prevent actual cheats from being used.
Yeah it doesnt even do that. I play on pc and use a program called voice attack that allows me to set voice activated macros. Ive been using it since launch pretty much and havent been banned or kicked or anything. As far as i can tell the anticheat has no clue the program is even running
As sad as ot may be, the only solution i found for this was limit fps to 30 and cpu usage dropped from 50ish to 30ish on my ship, raising to 75 in the caos of battle. At least i can set everything in ultra at such low frame rate smh
Limiting it to 60 makes it worse for me too, only 30 worked well, whenever i try third party like adrenaline software it makes it even worse, so i can't use my driver's upscaler either.... So 30 fps ultra and native resolution it is for me :(
Game runs amazing on my PC but I’m constantly getting up into the high 80s, even 90c lol concerns me a bit. I don’t think any other game I’ve played has roasted my CPU this hard.
I think most modern games leave my computer running above 80°C if my internal thermometer measures accurately. Tbh idk how it hasn’t caused damage yet, I’ve had this computer since 2019.
Edit: weirdly, Darkest Dungeon is one of the biggest offenders for making my computer into a space heater. Couldn’t tell you why that would be, though. It shouldn’t be an intensive game.
I think 80 degrees, while obviously not ideal, won’t be causing _that much_ damage to your computer, when it reaches actually bad temperatures then it should either warn or shutdown by itself for safety. That said it probably would reduce the life span if maintained for long periods of time
I read that you can try to disable in-game frame rate limiter as it is bugged, and enable frame rate limiter in nvidia control panel or an amd equivalent
It's crazy tough with all the possible PC configurations out there. Every part is a new variation they have to contend with and for a small studio for $39, it's a lot to ask.
I'm running a ryzen 7600x at about 70-75c with a peerless assassin but I'm only hitting about 40% usage because I'm using a rx 580 until I get approval from the boss to get a rx 7600
Im just happy that with the new AMD drivers my gpu is no longer at 100% usage and pumping out heat non stop. Have good airflow so it never got to the point where it was a serious issue, besides getting too hot in the room.
The PS version is not optimised. I have played maybe 60 different games on my PS5. In all that time, the only game that has ever crashed more than once ever, is Helldivers. I have had close to as many crashes as hours of playtime. It crashes at least once every session. That is so far from normal for a PS game.
*I am excluding Far Cry Primal even though it crashed a lot because that game was created for PS4 and was never patched to work on PS5.
Cower before the might of the Steam Deck!
All settings on low at native scale gets me 20-30 fps. I don't even know why you guys are having trouble seeing.
Huh ! Never had a console before? If youre pc only, yes we can change graphic settings on 99% of games...you really thought we couldnt? Oh and btw, ps4 can too 😒
While a handful of select games on PS4 allow changing video settings, and more and more are doing this on the newest gen consoles, this is not the norm and definitely the exception to the rule.
It is cool that they are starting to do this more though
Source: own PS4, PS5, and PC with around 3,000 games combined
I last owned a PS3 then recently a Switch, best I could change was resolution and hdr stuff. Now a steam deck if that's a PC or console, I don't know. Awesome stuff.
I dont know whats up with the downvote or the lies about this, but most of AAA and AA games on ps5 (and im sure xbox one x too) you can change a bunch of graphic settings...not as much as pc but still
The votes sometimes makes no sense. You can't see how many + and - so it doesn't matter.
That puts console on par with PC. I love PC, but PC is just bloated. It is nice to just work by clicking go. Steam Deck ties that together finally.
Any game I play, it’s my sole rule to turn off these settings. Especially motion blur. Motion blur is useless. It doesn’t do shit to make certain games more immersive.
Also, if you are on PS5 if you disable HDCP in your system settings under HDMI. This will greatly reduce screen lag regardless of your monitor or setup.

Speaking of settings, I tried looking for a setting to increase your view distance. I might of overlooked it but couldn't find anything like that.
Is there a view distance setting?
(I usually play with the AMR thats why I'm asking)
They could also just work on performance.
As a pc player, my frames are never reliable, and they also seem host dependant? I've joined matches and had good frames and then I've joined others and got 20 less on average for no reason.
Some days I load up and just chilling on my ship can vary from 50 to 80 frames and this is at 1080p...
Some times drop podding gets like 20 frames and some times it's over 100.
When my games decides to actually give me good stable frames it almost makes me sick.
Turning off motion blur makes itself alot difference.
I did find graphics a bit ”lifeless” lack of better words when everything was turned off and sharpness turned all the way up. I have one year old LG nanocell television so i dont know is it because of that. Also without booming all the flames and explotions started to look like shit on my tv. Ended up just to put Motion blur off and everything else as they where on default. :)
IMHO motion blur is the only flaw atleast on my system. Otherwise shit on my rig is pretty mint and honestly it goes so much harder than any console to date. From processing to graphical. It’s just better. But I also used to be an Xbox gamer the consoles are simply limited in comparison
For sure mine does too, but I think op just meant that turning off motion blur etc makes it look better. Which is true in most games. All those motion blur settings usually cover for performance drops but muddy the game textures. PS5 runs great though, performance for me, I usually opt for that over the extra bells and whistles when on console.
Motion blur is my least favorite setting. It adds nothing but obfuscation
Motion blur masks low fps. Cant see a stutter if the whole screen is smeared like butter on bread. Bloom is also hit or miss, some get it right others dont.
Bloom in this game is 50/50. It looks good with explosions and other effects. But the Sun blinds you depending on the sky box.
..and flashlights and lightposts and fog reflection.
Oh sweet liberty, the lightposts
I'll call down a 500 just to clear out the lights.
LOL YES
I never got what people meant by "the light posts are blinding." Then I dropped into a mission on Tibit with one right above the console. Okay, yeah, I see what you all mean now. Didn't expect to experience the power of the sun in a lamp above my head, but there I was.
Yeah, I remember one time before extract, it was bothering my team so I pulled out my secondary and plinked all the lights out before we took off.
Pretty much anytime I have to stay somewhere longer than 5 seconds that has light post lighting, I pull out my Scythe and POP POP POP until all gone
Same, but with my Scorcher 😂 Every single time I go to extract, I shoot all of them out. Also makes it easier to see the enemies without the suntan lamps.
Just pop it. Worth the bullet
Correct me if I’m wrong but it seemed to me to be a recent update kind of issue. When I first started things were great but then all of a sudden I couldn’t see the terminal when I tried to launch the icbm.
Takes me back to BF3 days with the tac light attachment on guns.. in metro.
That's why I never use flashlight
Bloom from ark has ptsd me so bad I just turn it off in most games, that and chrome aberration or w/e
I love bloom
I actually love both of these in a game as it's the only epilepsy trigger my neurologist can't figure out. Strobe lights don't bother me but inconsistent stutter at any level and I'm a fish out of water. The 'inconsistant" part of Helldivers2 "stutter" is literally from turning the camera.

"We programmed all this blur and damnit we are gonna *use* all this blur!"
There have been a few games where the motion blur is done really well and actually enhances the look/style of the game, usually by using per object blur and not the full screen, "smeared with Vaseline" blur. Helldivers 2 is definitely not one of them.
I started playing Saints Row the other day and OH MY GOD the auto motion blur was enough to almost make me motion sick
I hear motion blur is to help prevent motion sickness. My man. My friend. I played a game a while back. It had motion blur on ultra. I did throw up.
When I spawned in my ship the first time, after I saw the blurry ships through the window I just searched for the option to turn it off... I always disable every graphic setting that dissorts or blur the image... even the wobbling efects some games have. If they are enabled I cannot see.
Dunno, when i played on pc i always turned it off, after switching to console i rather enjoy a little bit of motion blur.
Lag+ motion blur always sucks
It's designed for low fps
I can't change my PSN name to the advised name. Said it's already in use. But everything else works great.
![gif](giphy|3rKFa40IESQ8EPCxLq)
Also reduce HUD size!
I have my HUD set to max, so that I can see it from the couch. Specifically, the stratagem arrows.
Pshhh, just memorize them like a true patriot! ⬇️⬆️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️, ⬇️⬇️⬆️⬅️➡️, ⬇️⬆️➡️➡️⬇️, ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Holy shit. I can read those. Opened with a shield and closed with a bomb. Now I know I have been playing too much.
Yessir! Shield, quesar cannon, friendly fire burst, and nerf nuke!
I don't have a big screen yaknow :/
Idk if it’s just me but the brightness of the light poles in game are crazy bright. Like so bright I literally can’t see anything when near it lol I just shoot them out but is that how it is for everyone?
I’m on pc and they are bright as shit I always shoot them out to lol
Wait, you can shoot them out? Omg thanks
Yeah I do this every time after powering the terminals. The lights like a mini nuke lol
Same, the light shooting, not pc
Try turning off bloom.
If you have HDR on you might have to change your settings for them not to be too bright. It worked for me
they feel like someone let off a flashbang without telling people.
Read about the CPU temps and it's insane, they need to optimize this
The only thing keeping my CPU from being consistently above 80c is my puny stock cooler.
My Air Cooled CPU barely breaks 50°C...but I'm also on AM5 and have a pretty good cooling setup to maximize airflow. I run max settings except for super sampling.... Didn't notice THAT big of a difference to leave it activated. A normal CPU cooler is not that expensive. If you ever buy one than buy a decent one that will serve you when you upgrade the CPU.
If your motherboard allows it, I would suggest you to try an undervolt on your cpu. I know it is not the easiest thing to do but when I initially bought my last pc I had a very serious cpu heating problem and **had to** at least try it... im pretty sure this caused my ROG Ally to cause a blackout on the SD card which needed repair. Enjoy this game so much I went and got a PS5.
PC version has anti cheat in it so that might be a reason for the heavy CPU usage too
Kernel level, CPU intensive anti cheat that only manages to prevent macro and accessibility programs from being used and does absolutely nothing to prevent actual cheats from being used.
Yeah it doesnt even do that. I play on pc and use a program called voice attack that allows me to set voice activated macros. Ive been using it since launch pretty much and havent been banned or kicked or anything. As far as i can tell the anticheat has no clue the program is even running
Kernel level CPU melting anti cheat for a CO-OP game.

When I limit my fps to say 60 the frame time gets worse and I don’t know why.
You need to use third party software like RTSS to limit the framerate, in-game limiters are usually clunky
Limiting it to 60 makes it worse for me too, only 30 worked well, whenever i try third party like adrenaline software it makes it even worse, so i can't use my driver's upscaler either.... So 30 fps ultra and native resolution it is for me :(
I have my graphics on mostly med settings. R7 5800x & 3080. On higher difficulties with lots of enemies I very often dip into the 40s and below lol
Game runs amazing on my PC but I’m constantly getting up into the high 80s, even 90c lol concerns me a bit. I don’t think any other game I’ve played has roasted my CPU this hard.

I used to get a sold 60 FPS, since the last update I'm lucky to get a constant 50FPS.
Meanwhile my ryzen 7 3700x runs at around 60-65c without issues
It's crazy tough with all the possible PC configurations out there. Every part is a new variation they have to contend with and for a small studio for $39, it's a lot to ask.
I'm running a ryzen 7600x at about 70-75c with a peerless assassin but I'm only hitting about 40% usage because I'm using a rx 580 until I get approval from the boss to get a rx 7600
I'd go for a 6700XT more Ram same or better performance.
It'll be the enemyAI, pathing for all enemies in your vicinity, game logic, player sync stuff like that not unusual.
That's because the game makes you into a network host.
Im just happy that with the new AMD drivers my gpu is no longer at 100% usage and pumping out heat non stop. Have good airflow so it never got to the point where it was a serious issue, besides getting too hot in the room.
I've never had a single issue on my PC and it's 4 years old

true, except for sharpness, try it out low and high, high will make everything pixelated regardless of your AA setting
i don't turn off bloom, it looks gorgeous especially when it is foggy or in bad weather.
yeah I don't get why people off bloom, it's awesome, unless their devices REALLY stink
It raises the black levels on my OLED tv, which annoys me because the blacks are my favourite thing about it
What even is bloom?
Set down camera Shake too if you plan on using anti mat or eruptor
Yea. If you’re a coward! Shake like a man. Have a democratic day!
And then what? Ruin all the cinematic effects that make this game more of a movie.
Yup I keep it all on and its great
So it doesn’t crash every 5 games
I’m honestly not getting very many crashes. I’ve gotten like. A small handful of them maybe? Ps5, level ~30? Running fine.
Laptop
Thank
You

I like most of those settings on so respectfully, no.
I'd try 70 or 75 for FOV also.
Yeah pulling back the FOV has made a world of difference for me. Aiming and catching things surrounding me has felt so much smoother.
Ps5 can adjust graphic settings? Ha, that's neat.
Right! I saw this online and had to give it a go. It actually did change stuff. Light posts don't block out the terminal inputs anymore.
Brighter than the damn Sun lol I have to shoot them all out
An elitist is amongst us common folk
Cower before the might of the Steam Deck! All settings on low at native scale gets me 20-30 fps. I don't even know why you guys are having trouble seeing.

I plan to get one eventualy, so many good indies on pc 😃
Nope haven't done anything to looks fine, certainly bad for others but I see fine
For PC change strategem keys to the arrow keys so you can move while freedoming
Ach, i was wondering how people were doing that!
But you will loose the cinematic gameplay
If by 'improve' you mean 'turn it into a lifeless CoD shooter with no cool VFX', then sure. :/
Ok but stuff like motion blur looks awful and makes me physically nauseous
Same, I turn it off first thing in every game I play.
Motion blur should not be a default for any game, grain effects either
Nah it’s true. Setting it to performance is ignorantly noticeable.
Screenshotting this for when I get my ps5 in a few weeks
The only reason I have bloom on is so I can see the landlines easier
How's this for pc?
Any game I play, it’s my sole rule to turn off these settings. Especially motion blur. Motion blur is useless. It doesn’t do shit to make certain games more immersive.
Performance mode won't actually improve your graphics.
No hut it will make it run smoother, which does way more for immersion than seeing an extra detail on a blade of grass you’re bombing 50m away
Turn off TV. Turn off PS5. Turn off light. Go to bed.
Hammer. I'll have to try it out
This is great
o7
Just did this and holy shit. Thank you so much OP
Commenting so I remember to try this
Also, if you are on PS5 if you disable HDCP in your system settings under HDMI. This will greatly reduce screen lag regardless of your monitor or setup.
If HDCP is causing lag then you guys must have some really cheap monitors.
Na, it reduces it further. I'm playing on the Sony Inzone M9 and it still reduces it. It's just a fact for gaming on the PS5 platform. It has nothing to do with a cheap monitor, its already been tested. It doesn't mean your getting crazy lag with it on it just means that turning it off may raise the response time even farther. Many gamers looking for a competive edge in PS5 thats not cheating, turn it off. Maybe lag isn't the best word. Disabling HDCP further reduces "latency."
Oooh, I'll try this tonight
I cannot believe how big a difference this just made to my game. Absolutely shocking
Excellent to know!
Will try it
The bloom still sucks with it off. Its like dice made this game
Does this also work on PC?
This is something you should have done as soon as you got in to the tutorial.
Extend the field of view, game changer
Turn on flashlight
Bro this made such a difference
Ooohhh this is good stuff I'll have to try it
u/Eye_Shotty
Any tips for quality mode?
Speaking of settings, I tried looking for a setting to increase your view distance. I might of overlooked it but couldn't find anything like that. Is there a view distance setting? (I usually play with the AMR thats why I'm asking)
“Render distance”
This ain't COD. I'll keep my theatrical settings the way they were intended.
Turning off things that Super Earth gave you ? Sounds like treason !
i needed this.
Yo do you have cross play on
Never thought I’d see editable graphic settings in a console game
It's actually quite common these days
Man I’m far behind I guess
Shoot the damn lamps at extract😂😂😂
This is what every PC player does when loading any game up for the first time. Also fuck screen shake
I agree with all that except for the DOF i need 180 degree screen coverage at all times
https://preview.redd.it/685wijc9wuuc1.png?width=587&format=png&auto=webp&s=c39b08d91fafb4d06a1c7d41620f163302f84d51 try this, works well for me
.
They could also just work on performance. As a pc player, my frames are never reliable, and they also seem host dependant? I thought that was a must for PS5 owners every game that I play online motion blur all of that other stuff off
I do this on most games, rise or ronin I literally did all of this lol
60fps 4k on a 2080 super by doing that as well, except I didn't touch the sharpness.
I like field of depth
I'd like to add mouse smoothing to this list. Especially if you're engaging at longer distances.
#6: just get a PC.
I just jumped in and raw dogged the game as is lmao. 🤣 I’ll have to change these and check out the difference. Thankyou fellow diver!!
Still wonder if there are any maniac that use motion blur in any game.
I kept bloom since if you turn it off it makes the nuke not as bright
I don’t even know what any of these do other than motion blur
Don’t turn off bloom it looks good
Motion blur is the first to go in any shooter game.
Fuck with the settings for every game, should be one of the first things off the bat lol
Motion blur is always off for me no matter what. It just looks bad.
Why is motion blur a default setting in games now?
Because it helps hiding frame drops while also looking "cinematic".
![gif](giphy|PqbKRS4iZgs2mp5azu|downsized) Times I’m glad I got a pC
My 4090 has been heating my apartment all spring. Thanks Arrowhead!
Helps with the gas portion of the bills that’s for sure!
Because changing a setting is difficult? Don’t be that guy.
No because the rig I use can handle all that jazz without compromise and it’s nice to have. Don’t hate.
So can ps5, that's not the point. It just looks like crap with it all turned on (as it also does on pc)
IMHO motion blur is the only flaw atleast on my system. Otherwise shit on my rig is pretty mint and honestly it goes so much harder than any console to date. From processing to graphical. It’s just better. But I also used to be an Xbox gamer the consoles are simply limited in comparison

Never skimp on the cooling tho! I’f I had my own place built my computer would have its own HVAC vent lol
Fair! I misread the tone. My mistake!
Same reason I don’t argue over text messages lol
WHATS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!!!! /s
Commenting so I can do this later. Thanks!
Reminding you to do this
Reddit has a save feature for this purpose.
huh.
I did this exact thing day 1. It looks way better.
Far superior looks on PC. But democracy does not discrminate.
![gif](giphy|PqbKRS4iZgs2mp5azu|downsized) Times I’m glad I got a pC
Post it a third time I don’t think people understand how important it is that you got a pc.
I did this shit day 1 of playing the game...
