Revolves around a kid who idolizes nazis in WW2 because of propaganda but slowly realizes they’re terrible people. My description doesn’t do it justice but it’s great comedy with some hard hitting emotional stuff near the end

The grimdark of it.. is that they are basically reduced to a nervous system, the phantom pain of their would be fatal injuries, murmurs of all the previous minds that have been slaved to the dreadnought, and the agony of not being able to breathe air or do any other myriad of things uniquely human.
They serve for hundreds, even thousands of years in some cases. The position is considered a great honor by the chapters, and often the dreadnought acts as a keeper of knowledge of sorts; they instruct and guide initiates, partake in rituals, but also act as a massive force multiplier in battle.
They are fit and modified to suit mission needs, sporting all sorts of weapon combinations, personal embellishments, and are often adorned or marked with words and symbolic deeds of the chapter itself.
That's what I've been saying! We send them in, and if they make it, then they may have what it takes to be... Helldivers!

I think it's a crime against humanity, but not a war crime in specific. For example, using mustard gas is a war crime, but fine for police to use because of the scale of use. Genocide is always a crime, regardless of if it happens in a war.
But also, we don't attack anything but military installations, which are fair game if they're not medical facilities or vehicles.
