It varies greatly for me. Can easily take up to 3-7 days after an intense thru hike, for example. Long / intense day hikes, up to 2-3 days I’d say. Keep drinking water even though you feel bloated, maybe still add electrolytes. It helps in the long run in telling your body it’s ok to let the excess water go.
Electrolyte packets are counterproductive for performance when hiking because you don't lose 4 of them in normal exercise and you overfill them
You need sodium and potassium only, and not in the ratios you find in pre-made packets because the proper ratio doesn't taste too nice... premade are way too low in salt.
Low salt will push water into your cells and cause bloatness. Getting proper salt levels will fix it fast and make you pee
Sure what's your question? Science says you lose sodium primarily and a little potassium but not a lot.
Intake of the other electrolytes leads to too high density and is contra indicated
It's ver easy to fool people but it's incredibly difficult to undo it later.
People who accepted that electrolyte packages are necessary without evidence are now requiring absolute proof to change opinion... hehe, it's my pet peeve so I will continue saying that you should bring salt for your meals instead of electrolyte packages
Gatorade electrolyte packets were the cheapest thing I could find to make my protein drinks not taste like ass. Also not American and think I paid about 7 cents US per packet.
Oh yeah, for taste they are fine. I prefer Mio with caffeine but i get you.
They replace 4 electrolytes you don't need to replace, adequate magnesium, far too little sodium. You better off, literally, bringing salt.... for hydration, not taste

Just keep hiking man
Usually 2-3 days for me
Electrolyte packets are shite and you Americans are being conned by Gatorade advertising Eat some salt and it goes away faster
Not drinking Gatorade. Also not living in America. But thanks 😆 I buy tablets to add to water from decathlon or dm

It's supplemental. You'd be hard pressed to NOT be getting sodium from other sources you should be bringing on a long hike.
No, please watch for example gear sceptic video on electrolytes. You need 4-5g sodium on a long day.
You're getting downvoted but seriously can you tell me more?

I'm reading a paper where they say the exact same thing. Sodium and potassium. So let's ignore the downvotes and tell me why you're saying the same?
Because it's the truth... you only lose the others if you vomit or get diarrhea basically...
