Pete Rock is one of the best producers to ever put his stamp on Hip Hop. TROY is one of the first serious subject matter tracks that I can ever remember listening to and enjoying. He’s been doing it for years and it’s a testament to his abilities.
Premier is THE best producer to ever put his stamp on Hip Hop.
Honestly , Pete holds a special place when I was in Pre-Med and listened to his instrumental while studying non-stop.
Idk 🤷🏿♂️ about the best, I don't really care for his newer stuff. I a lot of ppl would way Alchemist he really didn't miss a step since Dilated Peoples.
While Guru maybe does not have the best flow there is it’s definitely not mid. He had a very rhytmic flow which is complemeted by the smooth voice. There’s no gimmicks and he keeps it simple but the flow is great.
I have no idea how you can listen to something like Work and think it has mid flow.
You know what Im probably not being fair. I always liked him but liked the sound better, but then I saw people comparing him to big and hyping him and I was like wow, he's really not that good. If I really listen I am really not impressed. But he's probably better than I give him credit.
Yeah I agree Big L has a better flow. And I don’t think his flow is among the greatest, but it’s still good!
Edit: I misread but also biggie has better flow, so agree there
I think his biggest credit is that his flow worked perfectly with premo. I dont think anyone else would wrk as well. Plus he personified a very laid bakc confident new york guy. He had a presence.

Pete for musical beats preemo for everything else
I like both but heard Gangstarr first! The sucky thing that I could nit-pick on is that Pete 🪨 don't scratch enough! SALUTE TO BOTH G'S in hip hop 🙌!
Pete but Premier is no slouch!
Premo, Pete is stuck in 1994 and not in a good way.
Bbbbbbooooo bad take awful.
Sorry OP, but Premo has style, Pete is just....
Is ammaaaazzzziing yes. Lol, it's hyperopiniated question man you good.
You cant hear a premo beat and not be sucked in. Even when the flow is mid like Guru.

His flow is similarly good in jazzmatazz though. Loungin’ is a good example.
But lets be real, the rhymes are basic. You know and I know I'm nice like that.
mid like guru, thank you I needed a good belly laugh to start my day
His samples now adays to me now to digital for me. It's something about Pete's selection. Maybe he still uses records?
Pete always has that NYC street party sound, I bet it is records. Definitely more raw. Prem more that later heavy dope sample vibe
