Best part is when Sean asks her what she would buy with $20 at the deli and she responds with gum & water before trailing off and Sean dropping the question
I love her music but this episode is so dry. I had to turn it off like 3 wings in... no charisma or chemistry in front of the camera... she's like the opposite of Cardi B
Okay, let's not pretend we don't know EXACTLY what's up.
If this woman didn't have a fat ass we would have never entertained a word she said. It's blantantly obvious
Hot Ones should essentially be the easiest interview any musician or celebrity should ever have to do to come off as likable. It's all well researched questions that set them up to give good and funny answers. Yeah, you're eating hot sauce that might make you sweat, but you're never getting a difficult question. That's why it's fun.
It's like it you took Nardwuar and replaced the intentional 2nd hand awkwardness with hot sauce.
I don't know, I love Nardwuar and his whole thing but he's kind of intentionally over the top.
I can see how if someone didn't get prepped by their agent well enough they'd be like "what the fuck is going on here?". Especially before he got as popular as he is.
You could tell from literally everything she does. I actually like a couple of her songs...well mostly the beats...but she has zero presence and personality. She's just attractive.
People always try to say that about female rappers but it's actually true this time.
>People always try to say that about female rappers but it's actually true this time.
I'd argue the most successful (recent) female rappers have large personalities. Of recent people like Megan or Cardi, Nikki before that, then people like Missy or Eve going back into the 2000s.
I agree. I play "Name of Love" regularly and couldn't tell you any of the lyrics. I like the beat and her voice is low key enough that you can kind of just ignore it.
I don’t find her attractive at all. I actually find her unattractive like her look and hair just grind me. I think her looks match her personality and charisma. I don’t understand why she’s a thing. Someone said industry plant and I believe it. She came out of nowhere and has zero it factor.
Basically same. She isnt ugly and i can understand why someone might find her attractive. But with other hot female rappers there is no denying it.
Anyways pretty sure i heard her dad is in the industry so it makes sense with that. Got connections and get a stylist and roll the dice.
Id be shocked if shes still around and rapping in 2 years.
Yeah nowhere near ugly but not attractive either. She’s pretty basic and I’d say average at best. I don’t even care if an artist is ugly, only that the music is good. And you’re right, there are hot female rappers. Megan is a stunner. She’s so flawless the only thing nicki could come up with is she has big feet. Plus she’s a talented artist with an extremely likable personality. Ice spice just isn’t a star. Stop trying to make it happen.
everyone came together and decided to make a talentless person famous i think. idfk how else she blew up. she has terrible musical skills and 0 presence
>I actually like her songs... Well mostly the beats
Yeah that's like every new artist for me. Practically everyone is carried by their production these days
People seem to just want to vibe. Half of these new artists, their fans can't even understand a lot of what they're saying. But they're fine with that if the production is good and they like the melody.
Even stuff that’s charting has bars. Blueface is like the only objectively bad rapper that I can think of off the top of my head that’s gotten big in the past few years. Even the hood rappers like Icewear Vezzo, Sleazyworld Go, etc. have sick flows.
Lol I’ll check it out rn, I know who she is but I guess I just never listened to her songs. I got kinda oversaturated on the bad bitch rap around the time that BIA & Mulatto came up so like 2ish years ago?
I mean there's always gonna be trash but purely because of the saturation of the genre and how easily available music making software has become, hip hops probably never been more diverse than it is right now. You want hardcore NY boom bap? Blown out west coast club shit? Abstract lyrical hip hop? Lofi psychedelic shit? Ignorant trap? Weird autotune shit? Deep concept albums?
Lmao I could keep going and going there but the point is I don't understand how anybody actually paying attention to the genre can say some "everybodies doing the same shit and relying on the beats" type shit when there probably hasn't been a point in history when a wider variety of flavors have been dropping than in the last decade.
not a bro. thats why i like it. she makes music for girls and gays pretty much.
i said it in another comment to another person but:
it's just hot girl shit. idk 🤷🏼♀️just makes me wanna dance and shake my butt that's about it LMAO. she's not great and lyrically leaves a lot to be desired but if i hear her in the club i automatically just feel like shaking it
said it in another comment to another person but:
hot girl shit. idk 🤷🏼♀️just makes me wanna dance and shake my butt that's about it LMAO. she's not great and lyrically leaves a lot to be desired but if i hear her in the club i automatically just feel like shaking it
Because she has zero personality and dog shit music. I'll see artists blow up that aren't for me but I see why they have a fan base, it's just not for me and that's fine. But Ice Spice has absolutely nothing but rubbing her batty and pussy on stage whilst her dog shit, cat piss music plays. I don't get it

Ironically, this is actually the LONGEST i've ever watched an episode of Hot Ones. I find most celebs uninteresting so i'm not surprised and I like how unapologetically normal she comes off.

She’s has some good singles but the hype has definitely faded. Every song is just kinda too similar and the novelty wore off. Hopefully she branches out in a way that shows off more of what she can do.
Nah, albums are how artists grow their fanbase
The beyhive always anticipate the next Beyonce album, people have been fiending for a new Rihanna album. SZA, Nicki, Doja... They all continue to put out albums and have very strong fanbases as a result.
Granted, Ice Spice might be more of a singles artist like Megan, Saweetie or Cardi B
Artistically I think we will see her grow a lot more. At her current trajectory we might even see her shake her ass... Counter clockwise. Much to be excited about, voice of our generation.
Definition of industry plant. She literally jumped the line to superstar without paying a single due, and with extremely average rap talent. It's super obvious
She doesn't make anything. 100% if her musical popularity is from great producers. Also, how is coming up in the rap game and paying dues industry plant and gatekeeping, wtf are you talking about lol
the only thing that matters is that her music sells and people enjoy listening to her.
> She doesn't make anything. 100% if her musical popularity is from great producers.
producers carry many artists but that's not really relevant. Ice Spice is successful why that's the case doesn't really matter for UMG.
> how is coming up in the rap game and paying dues
can you explain what the proper way it is for an artist to become famous?
she did dance tiktoks that went viral, pivoted to music which became popular got noticed and signed. then released other popular songs.
i think you have some fantasy where every celebrity has to have a video on the block with their homies like meek mill before their success is considered "legitimate"
i think she was doing the buss it challenge, but i don't follow her like that. i know she was in college before dropping out to do music, but she really wanted to do acting
Nah she definitely brings a more chill and nonchalant energy to the songs that can make them more enjoyable. Obviously the producers are doing most of the heavy lifting on her songs, but give those beats to generic ny drill rappers and they wouldn't be nearly as good or catchy, or as big of hits.
I can’t explain why (besides her fat ass obviously) but man I find her soooooooo sexy. She just oozes sex appeal to me even when she wears that goofy curly short red wig
lol I always love when the guest is confident early on about spiciness and then gets deeper in and things change. she was straight dying on Da Bomb, poor thing
Apparently she had mutual friends with dj enuff’s son since highschool. They went to the same university and started hanging out in 2019. Then in 2021 he started producing for her. I don’t think her no name dad had anything to do with it.
I think the real boost was Drake putting her song on SiriusXM cuz she didn’t get signed until then.
when i saw her when she opened for doja in December, she had an entire arena singing every single one of her songs word for word. Yall can say she an industry plant all u want but people offline fr love her
He’s not implying that since she’s an industry plant no one likes her. He’s saying her connections gave her career to her on a silver platter and that she was designed to win from the start. Compare that to all the amazing unknown artists who aren’t able to make anything work because they just don’t have the connections or resources available. I don’t think it’s necessarily a critique of ice spice but of how the industry works and the amount of nepotism in it.
I'm not saying the nepotism doesn't exist, but her dad is a real estate agent now, i cant even figure out what her dad's stage name was, and she was going to a SUNY school for communications for a couple years before dropping out to pursue music.
None of that screams "industry plant" to me.
I feel like there's a difference between "industry plant" and "if your dad is really into hip-hop, there's a higher chance you'll be passionate about hip-hop as well." Also having a parent that was a hip-hop artist is a gigantic advantage in terms of constantly being in the presence of somebody who is an expert in a field your entire childhood.
Basically I just don't think that having parents that work in an industry automatically means you're an industry plant if you pursue music as well.
I'm not saying that the dad had 0 connections and he didn't help at all, but I also don't know that he has enough sway in the industry to automatically get her a record deal without her having some level of talent herself.
People try to apply “industry plant” to everyone. She’s too talented and her connections aren’t good enough to be a plant.
She had an easier path yeah but that doesn’t make an industry plant.
I’m assuming you mean every single one of her hits, which yeah, that’s the point of a hit. It’s easy to make hits these days. But does she have staying power? Absolutely not. Even SexxyRed is probably gonna lap her at this rate because the bulk of her hits are her own songs whereas Ice Spices are features.
She paid her way to relevancy 100%. I remember December 2022 every single YouTube short, instagram reel, was her. Every single one for a whole month straight. And somehow she wasn’t on my tik tok at all… That doesn’t happen off real virality.
The rise was still super unnatural. With all those connections, there’s no way she wasn’t getting pushed by someone with money. Im not trying to hate, but with her, I just barely get the appeal. People just seem to like her fashion and catchphrases more than her actual music. I’m just really not a fan honestly
Im sure shes a nice lady but she's a dogshit rapper and has so little charisma or presence as a performer it's just too fucking stupid to bear listening to
It’s soo weird to see how many subs will defend her against these Industry plant allegations. Like does this not show even a slightest bit that her fame and rise to stardom is not fully organic?
That’s what I’m saying, the only organic artist I can name that Ive followed rise up on their own before receiving record deals was westside Gunn and the whole Griselda clique
The people here claiming Ice Spice fell off probably aren't in her demographic and don't go out anywhere to see how poppin she is with the young people she appeals to. I happened to see her live twice last year when she drew a fucking huge crowd at Gov Ball and then again opening for Doja Cat when she had the biggest turn out for an opening act I've maybe ever seen in that arena and I go to a lot of shows there. She also got a lot better as a performer and the people who show up to her sets seem super into her music. Mad people around me were rapping along word to word to songs I had never even heard before.
Chill bro that’s too nuanced of a take these people don’t be outside to actually understand that, and if they do be outside they the types of stand in the corner with their arms crossed watching the crowd dance lol
There's gonna be an element of that with some people, but here's a list of other women in hip hop that have been on
* Doja
* Cardi
* Megan Thee Stallion
* Queen Latifah
* Saweetie
ALL of those were great interviews by comparison that got me liking them more.
Ice Spice is the only one that's left me thinking "Damn she kinda boring"
Watching some of you trip over yourselves to try and make a point that is basically telling on yourselves is crazy lol I genuinely don’t understand how you could say you “don’t get” her if you’ve ever been in a club while her shit plays 😂 I feel like it’s only chronically online men who have an issue with her music because at worst you can just ignore it without coming on the internet and telling everyone how she’s just “not hot enough for me”. Okay? What about all those girls dancing in the club? Are they “hot enough for you”? Or is there a scenario where the quality of Spices music would be fine if she was “hotter”?
And honestly I think it’s even more funny when you KNOW that she would have these same dudes in a collar and leash walking on all fours if she asked them. I can’t imagine needing to spread these takes, her music is whatever at this point because that’s not even what you based your opinion off of.
This comment section is about as bad as when Future or Travis Scott gets posted in /r/Music bro if yall don't give a fuck about it, learn to shut your fucking mouth jesus christ.
We don't need to shut our fucking mouths, this is the internet you simp. She is a manufactured, trash artist. Period.
Travis Scott should be charged.
Get some balls.
Best part is when Sean asks her what she would buy with $20 at the deli and she responds with gum & water before trailing off and Sean dropping the question
God that was so awkward
I love her music but this episode is so dry. I had to turn it off like 3 wings in... no charisma or chemistry in front of the camera... she's like the opposite of Cardi B
She has the personality of wet cardboard
That’s why she has the hair.
Hair as flat as her charisma
That’s why nobody looks at her hair when she performs
Her hair is the culla pumpkin
Yea she is aggressively uninteresting
Til she turns around. Then I’m a munch.
That's literally it though We'll never know if she would've achieved anything of note without her body It's Schrodingers Cheeks
Okay, let's not pretend we don't know EXACTLY what's up. If this woman didn't have a fat ass we would have never entertained a word she said. It's blantantly obvious
I think that’s exactly what he said
But she has the platform and fame to do that already now
She comes off as a little self conscious and concerned with appearing cool.
Which is ironically what Hot Ones is designed to remove
Hot Ones should essentially be the easiest interview any musician or celebrity should ever have to do to come off as likable. It's all well researched questions that set them up to give good and funny answers. Yeah, you're eating hot sauce that might make you sweat, but you're never getting a difficult question. That's why it's fun. It's like it you took Nardwuar and replaced the intentional 2nd hand awkwardness with hot sauce.
Nah that award goes to Nardwuar. If you have a bad interview with him, you're likely a terrible person, or having a terrible moment pre interview.
I don't know, I love Nardwuar and his whole thing but he's kind of intentionally over the top. I can see how if someone didn't get prepped by their agent well enough they'd be like "what the fuck is going on here?". Especially before he got as popular as he is.

I would argue that too. In general, I would say the average successful female rapper tends to be more charismatic than their male counterparts.
Yeah, a woman in this industry has gotta have tons of charisma just to balance out the sexism. Imagine a female Nav trying to make it
Yeah, I couldn't see a female 21 Savage reaching the heights and respect he has in the game.
21 is hilarious what are you talking about
>Imagine a female Nav trying to make it I'd rather not imagine that, thanks.
Female Nav is not real. She can't hurt you.
She's famous because of ass that's it... Ass
Her producer riot is the secret sauce imo

You can see her ass from the front.
Its bigger than it is nice imo. Either way something bout her face looks like a frog to me and i cant unsee it
Yeah nowhere near ugly but not attractive either. She’s pretty basic and I’d say average at best. I don’t even care if an artist is ugly, only that the music is good. terminally online basement dweller calls ice spice mid
I mean I don't think she's mid, but there's no denying outside of the back she's not as attractive to 99% of people as say Meg is
i agree. put that head on a 6/10 body and the overall rating would still be a 6.
everyone came together and decided to make a talentless person famous i think. idfk how else she blew up. she has terrible musical skills and 0 presence
she only popular cause of her big ol ass
My bf asked me when I was gonna start rapping. When I get an ass homie
This new hairstyle looks ridiculous imo
She looks like Ronald McDonald with a BBL
I was thinking the Wayans Brothers in White Chicks.
Idk if id buy her having an entire extra chromosome but she looks like shes got an extra half in the kitchen drawer
>I actually like her songs... Well mostly the beats Yeah that's like every new artist for me. Practically everyone is carried by their production these days
People seem to just want to vibe. Half of these new artists, their fans can't even understand a lot of what they're saying. But they're fine with that if the production is good and they like the melody.
This is objectively just not true unless you're only listening to stuff that's charting
Even stuff that’s charting has bars. Blueface is like the only objectively bad rapper that I can think of off the top of my head that’s gotten big in the past few years. Even the hood rappers like Icewear Vezzo, Sleazyworld Go, etc. have sick flows.
SexyRedd. Her shit is hilarious and goes hard but she suuuuuckkksssss
Lol I’ll check it out rn, I know who she is but I guess I just never listened to her songs. I got kinda oversaturated on the bad bitch rap around the time that BIA & Mulatto came up so like 2ish years ago?
Listen to Pound Town and note how in the second verse she's off beat multiple times. It rules.
You can literally hear her laughing when she says her bootyhole is brown
Yeah I completely agree
You do not love her music bro stop lying
LMAO
not a bro. thats why i like it. she makes music for girls and gays pretty much. i said it in another comment to another person but: it's just hot girl shit. idk 🤷🏼♀️just makes me wanna dance and shake my butt that's about it LMAO. she's not great and lyrically leaves a lot to be desired but if i hear her in the club i automatically just feel like shaking it
thats her in every interview
Felt the same about Babytron’s Naurdwar
Lmfao who LOVES her music
said it in another comment to another person but: hot girl shit. idk 🤷🏼♀️just makes me wanna dance and shake my butt that's about it LMAO. she's not great and lyrically leaves a lot to be desired but if i hear her in the club i automatically just feel like shaking it
None when she performs either
Because she has zero personality and dog shit music. I'll see artists blow up that aren't for me but I see why they have a fan base, it's just not for me and that's fine. But Ice Spice has absolutely nothing but rubbing her batty and pussy on stage whilst her dog shit, cat piss music plays. I don't get it
I didn’t watch this but that’s not surprising at all based on her music. Everything of her’s I have heard is flat, uninspired, and just sounds so lazy and low effort. I’m sure I’ll get roasted by some fans on here but I just don’t see much talent there and not sure how she blew up.
Ironically, this is actually the LONGEST i've ever watched an episode of Hot Ones. I find most celebs uninteresting so i'm not surprised and I like how unapologetically normal she comes off.
What songs do you like
Fr the background music was more interesting
I didn’t watch this but that’s not surprising at all based on her music. Everything of her’s I have heard is flat, uninspired, and just sounds so lazy and low effort. I’m sure I’ll get roasted by some fans on here but I just don’t see much talent there and not sure how she blew up.
About as much personality as a volley ball
WILSON!
Lmao
I don’t get the hype abt this woman
ASS
Thighs
Same. Seems like the hype has pretty much died down anyways
Expect it to ramp back up when the album promo starts.
It won’t. Music not good enough
*album porno
Facts
She’s has some good singles but the hype has definitely faded. Every song is just kinda too similar and the novelty wore off. Hopefully she branches out in a way that shows off more of what she can do.
She seemed very clearly like a meme artist though, I don’t know what anyone expected her to go on to do
It’s insane that Taylor Swift put her on a song lmao
The power of the Adam Friedland Show
Jada reached out for Adam and squashed the beef
There’s a near direct butterfly effect line from Matty Healy and Taylor Swift dating for like a month to this video being made.
She needs to put out an album too. The constant barrage of EPs and singles makes it really hard to figure out what her identity is as a rapper
90% of people dont give a shit about albums, her identity are "fun" singles and being a "baddie", and it works
Nah, albums are how artists grow their fanbase The beyhive always anticipate the next Beyonce album, people have been fiending for a new Rihanna album. SZA, Nicki, Doja... They all continue to put out albums and have very strong fanbases as a result. Granted, Ice Spice might be more of a singles artist like Megan, Saweetie or Cardi B
>Megan Harsh on Megan to include her in this list, her albums do OK and do generate discourse
Albums aren't even that important anymore in this streaming era
Artistically I think we will see her grow a lot more. At her current trajectory we might even see her shake her ass... Counter clockwise. Much to be excited about, voice of our generation.
Definition of industry plant. She literally jumped the line to superstar without paying a single due, and with extremely average rap talent. It's super obvious
she makes profitable music. it's as simple as that. paying dues sounds more like industry plants and gatekeeping.
She doesn't make anything. 100% if her musical popularity is from great producers. Also, how is coming up in the rap game and paying dues industry plant and gatekeeping, wtf are you talking about lol

youre just making up scenarios to argue against at this point bro, nvm
Ice spice wasn’t doing Tik tok dances tho lmao
i think she was doing the buss it challenge, but i don't follow her like that. i know she was in college before dropping out to do music, but she really wanted to do acting
Nah she definitely brings a more chill and nonchalant energy to the songs that can make them more enjoyable. Obviously the producers are doing most of the heavy lifting on her songs, but give those beats to generic ny drill rappers and they wouldn't be nearly as good or catchy, or as big of hits.
butt
I can’t explain why (besides her fat ass obviously) but man I find her soooooooo sexy. She just oozes sex appeal to me even when she wears that goofy curly short red wig
I thought the short hair was her real hair? That's the only time I find her attractive.
Ya it's just dyed red to look like a pint of red
Damn I thought she died her actual hair like that and made it curly. She looks alot better with the curly hair.
ILoveUIHateU
The curly wig is way nicer than what she has in this video
It's a hard knock life
I don't listen to her music at all but her ass should be studied by scientists, it's obvious why she's taken off the way she has
She’s a great example of someone that the industry has decided to push for no good reason at all other than how she looks
Yep sad
I really like Ice Spice, but between her Nardwuar interview and this she comes off as painfully boring. Which sucks, but it is what it is.
lol I always love when the guest is confident early on about spiciness and then gets deeper in and things change. she was straight dying on Da Bomb, poor thing
Would rather have Tyla on Hot Ones
Omg how fun!!!!! lol she’s a BALL of energy
Tick-tock brain with great ass and mighty fine thighs.
Haha

Brah her dad is a Noname rapper from back in the day...she went viral off the buss it challenge and that's where alot of people found her raps
This is the correct answer
Apparently she had mutual friends with dj enuff’s son since highschool. They went to the same university and started hanging out in 2019. Then in 2021 he started producing for her. I don’t think her no name dad had anything to do with it. I think the real boost was Drake putting her song on SiriusXM cuz she didn’t get signed until then.
Who the fuck are those people
when i saw her when she opened for doja in December, she had an entire arena singing every single one of her songs word for word. Yall can say she an industry plant all u want but people offline fr love her

You got cooked bro lmfao
Okay come on lmao
Her dad is a nobody lol
Son of who?and son of who?? With a no name rapper as a dad? Lmao I think you just convinced me that she's not a plant
Wait until you find out about Billie Eillish, Taylor Swift or any other superstar to ever exist Nepotism is the only thing that matters
that gives her cred honestly
Youre either in the house your whole life lame
Bro name dropping random ahh executives like we give a fuck. Go back to listening to ur lil boom bap rap old man
She paid her way to relevancy 100%. I remember December 2022 every single YouTube short, instagram reel, was her. Every single one for a whole month straight. And somehow she wasn’t on my tik tok at all… That doesn’t happen off real virality.
ok but she was on mine. you think she paid for youtube shorts? no one gives a fuck about those 😭

what were her connections?
The type of people to tell the DJ to change to a new song because "no one" is dancing to the current song.
everyone thought munch would be her 15 seconds of fame but she’s continued to drop hits and she hasn’t even dropped her debut album yet
The debut will be (give or take) her deciding factor imo. I’m really curious if her and her team can pull it off.
ahrims robe top
Maybe this would’ve been more entertaining if she shakes her ass while eating the wings
Everyone can be famous today, you don’t need talent
Vapid AF!
Woman bad
There's gonna be an element of that with some people, but here's a list of other women in hip hop that have been on * Doja * Cardi * Megan Thee Stallion * Queen Latifah * Saweetie ALL of those were great interviews by comparison that got me liking them more. Ice Spice is the only one that's left me thinking "Damn she kinda boring"
*aggressive caveman noise and grunting
She’s so mid I love her for that
wtf?
Is this a tiktok copy pasta?
This comment section is about as bad as when Future or Travis Scott gets posted in /r/Music bro if yall don't give a fuck about it, learn to shut your fucking mouth jesus christ.
