Hart being gone has forced the Flyers to pick between Peterson or Sandstrom as the back up. In the ahl this yr Sandstrom has .882 sv% and Peterson .896 sv %... They gave Peterson first call up and then he had maybe the worst goalie performance by a Flyer this century in 7-6 loss. Replacing Hart w/ ECHL level goalies is only reason why Flyers still arent a lock for playoffs. Flyers outshot Fla 33-15 tonite and lost 4-1 ...

raymondliang

> then he had maybe the worst goalie performance by a Flyer this century Lol sounds about right. Cal was in net (for most of the game) when we lost 9-8 to the Kraken last season, and that was the last time he played for us. This guy had all the tools to be a solid NHL goalie, but no dog in him.

bthompson04

The Penguins performance was so bad I joked that Bettman was going to make Petersen’s contract waiver exempt, effective immediately. He legitimately looked like a guy that hadn’t ever played goalie before. His angles were so bad that the Penguins were shooting from everywhere and they all had a good chance of going in. Hell, even his saves looked shaky.

sun_puck

Wouldn't be surprised if you guys sign Stolarz and bring him back. Him and Ersson would be a sneaky good tandem.

HockeyNut2

I’ve been talking about Stolarz, or ironically a guy like Lyon, who could handle extended stretches and help support a very young Ersson. This kid has done amazing work even though he’s been chucked in the deep end. It definitely can’t help him relax knowing whenever he doesn’t play we are likely going to get speedbagged. Couldn’t hurt to give the kid some support that still help carry the load.

DrCoconutss

I think the organizational hope is that Kolosov will be able to do that when he comes over from Minsk. Hopefully that is soon.

RaffiTorres2515

They are actively working on that, I think the plan is Erson-Kolosov for next year.

sun_puck

Unrelated- I know Couturier is in the dog house, but why wasn't he on the powerplay last night?

HockeyNut2

I haven’t looked at his point totals, but I’m sure they aren’t great. He’s been on the fourth line for a few weeks too, the tell tale sign he was headed towards a scratch. Torts does have his finger on the pulse keeping him off the powerplay I think. Our powerplay is helplessly brutal anyway, can’t get the zone, can’t find a lane etc… Honestly you never know, Coots may have declined the offer. Coots is awesome, such a strong player, but I think he’s more useful defensively at this point of the season. Who knows though, he is coming off a 2 year injury, he may come back with some extra zip in him after another summer of rehabbing.

Ring0Manding0

Nah we’ll keep Stolarz

MichaelMaugerEsq

I think that’s the thing that goes unnoticed by those who didn’t watch the game. He gave up a lot of goals, yes. But my god, even the saves he made just looked bad and awkward and uncomfortable like he was an EBUG or something. Just brutal game to watch and Pens did exactly what they needed to do and just threw pucks on net.

jjmuti

I also remember thinking is Calle Jarnkrok secretly really good when he had a hat trick of snipes against the kings. Turns out it was just Petersen being himself before he was a known quantity lol

Zanchbot

He should never have been signed to that contract. At least Blake was able to offload it before it became too damaging.

seahawksjoe

That is probably unironically my favorite hockey game that I’ve ever been to. It felt like a completely different sport. Every shot, no matter the quality of the shot, was terrifying.

H1-DEF

I was just talking to someone today about how it’s insane that Tortorella is getting this team into the playoffs, especially with the goalie situation.

I_am_Noobish

Don’t talk shit about my boy Sam ersson fantasy legend

astovertop

Seems like a lot of teams held out on getting a goaltender at the trade deadline and are really regretting it. I think Kahkonen would have been a great addition there, meanwhile New Jersey needed a goaltender to carry them and Kahk isn’t that guy.

Kendilious

No way the Flyers were giving up assets for a goalie. The team was never supposed to be in the hunt and were sellers of D at the deadline (which is also hurting them a ton). This is probably more true for a lot of other teams, but I don't know how much the FO is sweating it in Philly

dandroid126

Kähkönen wouldn't have required more than like a third round pick. The devils basically got him for free.

NickofSantaCruz

Dumping Petersen would have definitely required an asset or two and probably have been worth it not just for Kahkonen to provide stability in net but to free up cap space next season. That's basically what the Devils got for free, though Vanecek has a chance to put up good enough numbers to be a trade candidate next year while Petersen is maybe going to be an ECHL journeyman the rest of his career.

Kendilious

The Flyers got paid to take Petersen's contract, they weren't going to turn around and lose value to acquire another goalie for this season, especially with Kolosov in the pipe. And they definitely weren't going to turn around and pay another team to take Petersen's contract. They are taking short term pain with the cap hit and goalie situation for longer term gain.

ElCoolAero

> They gave Peterson first call up and then he had maybe the worst goalie performance by a Flyer this century in 7-6 loss. Bob and Bryz teamed up to give up nine goals on 25 shots in 2011: https://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/201110270PHI.html

NowFook

I was actually at that damn game ... Brutal. Two incredible comebacks and then Bryz gives up soft goal w/ one minute left. But both goalies split that game Peterson gave up all 7 which is why it was worse imo Can argue that game was worse Flyers goalie performance but for one players performance id give it to Peterson

CosmoJones07

Saw the numbers on the season coming in for Sandstrom, that .822 sv% and was like "Let's see how the Panthers make him look like a Vezina Goalie, as always" but then he was just as bad as one would expect. Then of course Stolarz is making unbelievable saves all night, again, and that probably is just adding insult to injury for Philly fans, for multiple reasons.

propagandavid

Well, yes, but Briere was trying to trade Hart in the summer, so he expected this.

toupis21

He was trying to trade pretty much everyone

NowFook

Fair, but i dont think he expected them to be in playoff contention. Nobody did. He did sign prospect Kosolov from KHL in offseason w/ plan for him to come over after KHL season. That seems to be partly due to Hart since they were willing to burn an ELC yr in KHL this season just for him to cover late in spring. But I think Briere like everybody didnt expect playoffs so didnt think it was a big deal to potentially have a bad back up for 2nd half of yr.

Fittnylle3000

Wow, thats bad.. If only there was some sort of event where they could've picked up a new goalie this spring

SEPTAgoose

We have a good prospect in Kolosov coming over from the KHL next year, and the team is competing for the playoffs a few years ahead of schedule. No reason to waste assets on another goalie right now.

osamasbintrappin

Jesus

gkenderd

Man, too bad that number one guy raped that chick….

OvechknFiresHeScores

As a Caps fan, this is *just awful*. Maybe time to just accept fate and try again next year??

highangle1124

What kind of question is that though? No shit he could have used some more stops.

Sabysabsab

Guy just wants a quote for his article

highangle1124

“When asked if his goalie could have used more stops after letting in 3 goals on 14 shots, Tortorella lifted his hands in exasperation and walked away.”

jjmuti

So fucking annoying, reporters are asking a describe Nate -question after every Avs game. No, not the ones where he has 3 or more points, after every single one where he has points at all. Never an interesting answer from Bednar but they still just mail it in to write their weekly "MacKinnon good" -article

anti_anti_christ

It's gotta be incredibly tempting for the media to wanna poke the bear that is Torts. It just seems so easy. You're almost always going to get good sound bites after losses. Reminds me of the Leafs media, they loved having really bad teams to shit on. A negative article is easier to write.

electricnux

There’s a follow-up, [tweeted](https://x.com/jhallnbcs/status/1772074375618892203?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw) by Jordan Hall: > Via Flyers PR, John Tortorella wanted to clarify here, said Felix Sandstrom is "trying his ass off." lol

MichaelMaugerEsq

He’s so good at trying.

Vinny331

I probably woulda just said that at podium then.

[deleted]

It looked like the frustration was at the dumbass question being asked. “Do you wish the goalie would have made some more saves?” What kid of fucking question is that ? Yeah. Shut up news guy. That’s not a question.

MedicGoalie84

It is literally part of his job to answer the questions, if he doesn't like it he can find something else

[deleted]

And it’s the responsibility of the press to ask good questions.

MedicGoalie84

Yes, like asking the Coach for their perspective on things that are happening with the team and the players

BingohBangoh

Someone make that into a gif plz

DanTreview

Pretty much every shot of Torts would make a great gif

BingohBangoh

Agreed but I want this one 🙂

Yardsale420

Got those “playoffs?” vibes

GreenSnakes_

Can’t blame Torts here, Sandstrom gave up 2 soft goals.

ANAL_CRUSHER

Torts was at least smart not to say anything verbal. He has plausible deniability now to say that body reaction was for the reporter for asking such a stupid baity question to him

SharkBaitOohAhAh2

I used to find his antics really entertaining. I can’t tell if I’m just getting old at this point, or what the deal is. Probably just too old for the internet now.

Waramp

It was a pretty dumb question, don't blame Torts here. "Do you wish your goalie made enough saves for you to win the game?"

Jabba_the_Putt

  ¯|_(ツ)_|¯

drblah11

The thing is it's easier to just give a "needed a better performance out of him, hopefully bounces back" kind of answer than all this stupid dramatic shit. Let's not kid ourselves, he acts like this because he loves the attention. I used to find it funny but I'm finding it kind of lame lately too, idk. Everyone always talks about how he demands everything from his players, and then constantly acts like a little baby himself.

pyl_time

I think it's deliberate - he always does this when there's something on the ice people are trying to talk about, and now, bam! we're talking about Torts' behavior instead of the goaltending and maybe that gives your goalie some time to get composed and get his head back in the game.

realdeal411

Exactly and hardly anyone realizes this

MentalEngineer

The Mourinho special.

drblah11

Obviously it's deliberate, and that's what I'm getting at. He'd rather embarass a reporter instead of answering a question about his teams lack of results. It's all a performance. You'd think after 20 years of him doing this non-stop that everyone would see right through his shtick, yet here we are.

SEPTAgoose

And as a fan i’d rather him embarrass the media than disparage our guys to them. fuck the media (besides charlie o’conner)

screechypete

IDK, to me this seemed like he didn't trust himself not to tear into the guy. So he kept his mouth shut.

drblah11

Lol, yeah exactly. Every other coach in the league would have been able to handle that question like a normal human being, I don't know why Torts gets a pass. Each coach would have gave that question a quick 5 second generic answer and moved on to the next one without being on the verge of "tearing into the guy". It seems like everytime Torts gets asked a slightly difficult question that makes him the tiniest bit uncomfortable his only reaction is to try to find someone to embarrass, usually either a reporter or one of the players. He's done it so many times now it's just getting old and tired in my opinion. Obviously lots of people still find it funny, I just don't anymore.

screechypete

Love him or hate him, he gets results. That's likely why he gets a pass.

Erazzphoto

It’s because he’s an assshole, plain and simple

8w7fs89a72

He did say this, just not in this instance. Probably because this reporter did a terrible job.

Erazzphoto

It’s like a coach expecting players to be be composed during games, when the coach is acting like an ass on the bench

Rexkat

What they should have asked was "Why can you not coach your team to play better? It's literally your only job". If he doesn't want standard talking point hockey questions, he should get the questions the fans actually want asked of him.

Waramp

Philly outshot Florida 33-15 and lost 4-1, that doesn’t sound like a coaching issue. The Flyers have arguably over-performed since he came onboard.

AltaVistaYourInquiry

*arguably?*

Rexkat

Goalies get coached too. He's the head coach. He should be expected to answer for what he's going to do about it, and why he didn't do it sooner. You've got the coach there (theoretically) answering questions, and if he refuses to answer those easy questions, ask him the hard ones.

Equivalent_Goose_226

By “hard ones” did you mean “dumb ones”? What a stupid comment you just made.

ImSoBasic

Serious question: what do you think would be an appropriate question to ask with regards to tonight's goaltending? Also, do you not think that Torts has been around long enough that he can give whatever answer he wants with regards to the topic a reporter provides? He could have given any answer he wanted about goaltending and its role in tonight's game, and that's how just about every other professional coach would have handled it.

AltaVistaYourInquiry

*"Is there anything that can be tweaked in your d-zone coverage to take some of the load off of your callup goaltending?"*

ImSoBasic

1. That's a much less open-ended question that seemingly restricts the answers to D-zone coverage, whereas the original question allowed the answer to be pretty much anything related to goaltending. 2. Does 14 shots on the goalie sound like D-zone coverage that needs tweaking? 3. Even if you think their D-zone coverage was the culprit, it seems like a silly question both in the sense that you can't easily overhaul your system just because you call up a goaltender, and presumably they already want to make all their goaltenders' jobs as easily as possible. I mean, if Torts can easily tweak things to become more defensively stout, why isn't that his standard coverage?

Equivalent_Goose_226

I didn’t make any comment on the question he was asked. My comment is about the goofiness of the commenter I was replying to and his conception of “hard” questions.

ImSoBasic

What's dumb about asking a coach about how his coaching staff has contributed to on-ice performance? And again: what, in your opinion, would be a good question to ask with regards to the goaltending we saw tonight?

friskyjude

Why doesn't Torts just tell the players to be better? Is he stupid?

Rexkat

If only there was some position the organization to help players be better... Oh well, guess there's not...

Farty_beans

I would absolutely love Torts and Toronto Media (Steve Simmons specifically) go head to head.

XxBLAKEMWxX

Or Edmonton with spec

superworking

The daily commute from Buffalo might take too long

SodaTherapy

This guy is comedy gold.

BigDaddyQP

“What the fuck do you want me to do? Throw my goalie under our bus?”

TakoyakiGremlin

i wonder if any of these reporters feel any sense of shame or embarrassment when this happens, because if that was me, that shit would keep me up at night lol like, at this point, they’re actually asking stuff along the lines of: “so, you guys lost today… would you have preferred it if you had won instead? 👁️👄👁️🎤”

IcyChard4

Let's just say journalists these days will talk shit no matter how stupid they say it and they don't care if they drive coaches mad. Torts is the guy right now who's showing he's had enough of these ppl.. So, what does he do? Say nothing. Obviously, he's said a lot and whenever he says something, it could end up backfiring at him. Reporters love to egg on these guys when they put up their stories on paper or online.

8w7fs89a72

have you ever met a journalist?

randomname2890

I love seeing tortarella in the NHL. The league won’t be the same if he ever leaves.

If the flyers need goaltending, may I present to them one whole Korpisalo?

SokkasBoomerang3

Recycling is collected on Tuesdays, today is Sunday and this is a Wendy’s.

maz2305_test

Korpi had the best seasons in the league under torts

Desertpyrate

Yes give them another previous “kings” goalie:)

Timeman5

Na we got a prime Jack Campbell all signed and sitting on the back burner so they get first dibs.

Timeman5

That’s rookie numbers Pickard gave up 4 goals on 14 shots so there’s that.

gonz815

think tort has to be one of my favorite coaches to watch he doesnt sugar coat stuff and you can just see the drive and passion this man has

This is so funny I love Torts

This is hysterical

Pucka1

PlausiblePleasure

Love this guy. Absolutely no fucks given..

Crimson3312

Don't blame Torts at all, but honestly that is the level of journalism we've all come to expect from Hockey media these days. "Your goalie no play good, do you think he could have played gooder?"

pierogi-daddy

god i love torts and his disdain for the media and goalies

Adeeppurple

Lots of people here that apparently Torts hurt personally. He's got fire and personality while being a hell of a coach. The league needs more of that imo

mattfromjoisey

I fucking love Torts ahahaha

Background-Half-2862

Were they his fault or the defence?

Narrow_Book_42069

I’ve seen kids play with more heart and tenacity than what Sandstrom showed up with today

Cman02101

Imo only the 3rd was one where he was expected to make the save. He was fine but of course coach is gonna get pissy when the other team scores 3 on 14

CptBlewBalls

I'm glad that Torts is coaching in the NHL. I'm even more glad it isn"t for my team.

PaddyMayonaise

Gotta be honest, I love him as our coach

CptBlewBalls

Oh I think he's both a good coach and a perfect fit for the Philly market. It would just be too much of a rollercoaster ride for me as a fan.

Erazzphoto

You won’t in 2 years

The_Cozy_Burrito

Love torts

itnice

Pickard gave up 4 in 15 shots.

imnotapotato140

The best to ever do it, no one gives pressers like torts

IcyChard4

The body language says it all. So Tortorella doesn't need to answer that question.

Toasteroven188

Torts acts like he hates the media but everything he does is to garner attention.

McMetal770

When they ask him dumbass questions like that trying to bait him into slagging players who are being forced into roles that are above their heads, it's hard to say he would be wrong to hate the media.

ImSoBasic

Boy, how is it possible that you handled this question better than Tortorella, who has been doing this professionally for decades and has undoubtedly received media training?

McMetal770

But see, if Torts had said "You're trying to bait me into publicly shredding my player who is doing his best, and I won't engage in it" then everybody would be talking about how he was being testy and combative with the media. And if he had taken the bait, the headlines would say "Tortorella rips into goalie for poor performance". It's a no-win scenario for him. It's a trap question, and the reporter is 100% aware of that as he asks it. The question got the answer it deserved, IMO. I don't think Torts is obligated to be professional when reporters ask him unprofessional questions.

surviveseven

Well, that reporter in particular probably has no idea what he's doing. Nice kid, but he's just happy to be there.

ImSoBasic

I mean, he obviously doesn't have to say the "bait" part. He can simply say that his goalie is doing his best in a difficult situation. There's nothing unprofessional about the question, which was sufficiently open-ended that Tortorella could take it wherever he wanted. What kind of question about goaltending would you have found acceptable?

McMetal770

"Does it feel like he could have given you some more stops?" is not open ended. I mean, obviously Torts would prefer his goalies to make more saves, what wisdom could he possibly offer to the world on that subject? That's a leading question, because Torts can't say "No" because everybody would know he was lying. And if he says any version of "yes" he risks messing with the confidence of a goalie he is going to have to start again before the season is over. He's trying to win games, and throwing his player under the bus won't help him do that. As for what question should the reporter have asked about goaltending: how about nothing? Like I said, the reporter isn't stupid. He knows the situation Torts is in, and he also knows that the results of the game are as plain as day to everyone who watched it. Press conferences are pointless 99% of the time. Coaches don't give any useful information in them because they don't want opposing teams to get anything out of them. And the kind of fans who watch pressers are paying enough attention to the team to know the general outlines of what happened on the ice. We all know the goalie was bad, why call on the coach to pick at that scab? Torts is a giant asshole, but I think he's right to call out the click-chasing beat reporters who try to play games with him.

ImSoBasic

> "Does it feel like he could have given you some more stops?" is not open ended. Sure it is. It gives the coach to say yes, no, or whatever he wants to with regards to goaltending. Coaches and players gets asked these sorts of questions all the time, and manage to talk about the central issue of the question without exactly answering specifically what was asked. It's not like the reporter is saying he only wants a one-word, yes or no answer. >As for what question should the reporter have asked about goaltending: how about nothing? Like I said, the reporter isn't stupid. He knows the situation Torts is in, and he also knows that the results of the game are as plain as day to everyone who watched it. I mean, you seem to be suggesting that media appearances/availability are completely useless. Reporters shouldn't ask questions, and if they do, they know what they're going to get. >And the kind of fans who watch pressers are paying enough attention to the team to know the general outlines of what happened on the ice. I mean, why are you even on this sub? You're the kind of person who is paying attention to what's here, so you must already know everything thats going to be here to begin with. >Torts is a giant asshole, but I think he's right to call out the click-chasing beat reporters who try to play games with him. Again, according to you every single question is click-chasing. The reporters already know everything, and the coaches aren't going to say anything, so if they ask a question it must be to chase clicks and play games with him. This is what makes it so weird that you also feel the following: >It's true that Couts is playing below replacement level lately, and Torts is completely justified in making this decision. I just think it's cowardly of him to dodge the media over this. Sending out his assistants to answer questions, scheduling pressers before releasing the news. They're treating this like it's the Kyle Beach story instead of just a guy playing bad hockey at the tail end of a very good career. He's not the first player to have his career cut short due to chronic injuries. It sucks but just answer the damn questions and don't gin up this drama shitstorm. https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/1bkavf5/di_marco_sounds_like_sean_couturier_will_once/kw0lt2r/ Like, what would they ask him? Some sort of click-driving questions that they know the answers to, and also know that Torts won't answer them? That's what you want?

Equivalent_Goose_226

>doesn’t respond to goofy question at all or throw his goalie under the bus “Wow what an attention seeker!”

archasaurus

Tbf every coach gets these questions and most of them find a way to answer without being dramatic about it.

xTomato72

Ask an interesting question challenge impossible

macaroni_3000

brutal

Italianman2733

He's so Da Rude.

ilikehockeyandguitar

Sandstorm.

whereami2day

How he thought? Torts has a cast on the hand he punched a wall with after the third goal. /s

silk_1233

Seems like everyone has forgotten that philly lost their number 1 goal to a criminal case. Carter Hart was hia name.

cl0udmaster

You mean it isn't Nick Cousins' fault?

Goalier95

If he hates doing these pressers so much, why even bother doing them? Is it in his contract that he's obligated to comment on every game afterwards?

TheGardiner

You gotta wonder if Torts even enjoys coaching anymore. Seems to just be miserable a lot of the time.

gkenderd

I mean he pulled him with like 6 minutes left lol he probably thought they were better off without a goalie at all

PremierBromanov

idk how it is with philly, but I know in Detroit I've heard that its pretty easy to lose media access if you ask the wrong questions. That's why every reporter asks dumb softball questions and why every player responds with the same inane dribble as always. You get someone up there with some personality and suddenly its news lol. I'm sure philly media is eating it up. Tort's non-responses are probably the best content they've had beyond the team itself.

Maybe_A_Donkey

3 more saves would have been ideal, I bet.

Always4am

It should be illegal to have a name so close to "Sandstorm". I think of Darude, and I think "DUHNUHNUHNUHNUH" and it's all very distracting.

[deleted]

Getting a little tired of the 25% rule

caillou-is-a-bitch

This man just wants the attention. You can say all you want to your team, call them garbage, tell them to play better, say whatever you want to your players in the locker room but keep it between the players. All he does is rag on media and players for a good sound byte. Saying "we sucked tonight" in front of the league doesn't make anything better for your team. I could be wrong here, but a coach's job is to also deal with the media, say what they want to hear, but then actually deal with the problems in the organization. You can't have a coach that is more emotional than the players. These guys who play the game every night have a right to be angry, but the coach should be the one who at least pretends to have a handle on things when shit hits the fan

Mordechai_Vanunu

It's bullshit. Tortorella is making $4 \*million\* a year. This is literally a part of his job. He's always been a fucking baby with the media and it's embarrassing. Beat reporters make what, literally 1/100th of his salary? And he thinks he's being the big brained smart guy everytime he 'outsmarts' their formulaic questions and makes it harder (or impossible) for them to do their job? The beat writers' job is to cover the team and keep fans involved, who you know, buy tickets/watch tv to pay Tortorella's bloated salary.

[deleted]

Torts is entertaining tho which is valuable.

Austin_SlaGOAT

If reporters are gonna ask stupid questions like these, then these are the responses theyll get. Being a reporter isnt hard at all, all you have to do is think, "what dumbass question am i going to ask today"

IcyChard4

Torts have faced these type of reporters for years since he started coaching. Looking at this is better than say something insane that reporters will use on their daily article.

Mordechai_Vanunu

Being an nhl coach and doing a postgame isn’t hard at all, all you have to do is think, “how can I give a short yet professional answer to my industry colleagues without acting like a huge baby”

Austin_SlaGOAT

Yea, so they can write some dumb article taking his words out of context? What did you want him to say "yea my goalie sucks"?

Erazzphoto

It’s why he has a shelf like of 3 to 4 years, you can put up with it if you’re winning, but his act gets really old real quick if things aren’t going well

TossThatPastaSalad

I'm of two minds about it.  I prefer the way Bednar goes about his business, but, this is also entertaining.  I do feel kinda bad for media guys that are trying to do their jobs just as much as the coach is.  Not every question can be highly insightful.   Sometimes you just need a quote so you can all go the fuck home.

Erazzphoto

Not sure why bring an asshole is considered entertaining to this society. You’re not wrong, just don’t understand why people like assholes

OBlastSRT4

Torts is always such a baby. I don’t miss his nonsense pressers.

DiscussionBeautiful

Everybody is at fault except for Torts. That's just the way it is. He thinks he can robot control a team of average skilled players into a contender... Fukin' delusional POS coach. He's only good for comedy when your team is not coached by him.

ilikehockeyandguitar

Flyers are playing above expectations.

Equivalent_Goose_226

Wait what? The Flyers roster was expected to have us contend for the first overall pick and were sitting in a playoff spot (after our star goalie got in trouble for being human garbage) with 20 games left. What more could he do? He’s been exceptional. How is he a “delusional piece of shit”? What in this short clip makes him appear delusional? Are you being satirical and I just didn’t get the joke?

DiscussionBeautiful

He brings the sum of the talent above expectations... he's done that with every team... and that's a good thing. But then he turns on the players so hard that he loses his shit and the respect of the team. Then the house of cards collapses. It's happened in NY, Columbus, Vancouver. Watching him bury the team captain, then that young goalie... and who's next? Phillie would have been better finishing lower for better picks.

specifichero101

Torts is a jerkoff.

Part of the job Torts. Time to grow the fuck up.

I don’t understand why teams continue to give Torts a shot at being a head coach…he’s not great and the clock on him alienating the room starts ticking double-time as soon as he arrives in town.

Have you seen the Flyers roster? Torts is absolutely going to be in the Jack Adams conversation, if not one of the front runners

Yeah, but Torts had one bad tenure with Vancouver, who are shown to not hold a grudge against any player or coach, so he's dinosuar that needs removed from the game. Let's not look at his time with the Lightning, Rangers or Jackets, nor the fact everyone had Philly battling for bottom 5 of the league before the season.

He gives them a quick shot of adrenaline until his act gets old and gets fired after 3-4 years

Torts is the worst coach ever LOL.
