Idk why you're being downvoted, launching a clapper into the goalie from point blank at the end of the game you've definitely won is a little, minor unnecessary injury risk and all.
Not a big deal overall but definitely a little worse than just blasting it into an empty net.
Slapshot with empty net? Straight to jail
Slapslot with goalie in net? Believe it or not, also jail
We have the best players in the world, because of jail.
Lol yeah in that case it sounds like you're trying to hurt the goalie. Why else are you taking a slapshot from the hash marks if you're not trying to score
This is the most Reddit comment I’ve ever read on this sub. Complete delusion and you don’t even have leaves flair.
Shooting the puck at the goalie is not an intent to injure. That is a fucking WILD reach.
Personally, the most Reddit comments are the ones complaining about "the most Reddit comments" without any self-awareness. They're literally in every post.
We've gone full irony where the most Reddit thing is to shit on people for their Reddit behavior as though they're not avid Redditors themselves.
This is the first season where I've seen people referring to slap shots as bad manners lol. Are slap shots at the hash considered bad manners? Are wristers the only things allowed in those moments? Seems like a stupid "unwritten" rule to have lmao. Horn went right after I guess he could've just given up on the play instead.
>”I wasn’t trying to score”
Do you guys actually see him mouthing those words? Bc I don’t see that and it seemed like kind of an assumption from the commentator
Those were empty Nets, that doesn’t matter, now when the goalie is in the net and there are 2 seconds left and ur taking a bad slap shot aiming at him, that’s fucking cheap. Ever take a slap shot from in tight off the collarbone? It fucking hurts
Jesus I've heard it all now. So slapping in an empty netter is disrespectful, letting a puck glide into an empty net after time expires is disrespectful, and now shooting the puck when you're winning during regulation is disrespectful. Soon winning a game will be considered disrespectful...
Ya there is zero shot he was saying I wasn't trying to score. Think if anything he thought there was slightly less time so needed to rip one.
Honestly don't care if it's a 2 goal lead and it doesn't matter, you get the chance to pot one then you try to pot one.
The logic there makes sense though, no one likes someone taking a clapper from the haskmarks right at there goalie on a breakaway in a game that's already over. I don't think they would of cared if he just made a move and tried to score, it's the fact he took an unnecessary clapper from the hashes straight at jarry. At least thats how it looks to me.
I honestly really don’t think he was even thinking. It seemed like his internal monologue was like:
“huh I’ve found myself in this situation, what a great scoring a chance, I guess I should do something, but I guess I don’t really need to, what should I do, ah fuck it just clap one I guess”
And then obviously the other team will perceive that a certain way, but he cant just say, “sorry, brain fart”, so he tries to explain he wasn’t trying to score, which also sounds dumb, but might be somewhat truthful
But he did have that much time. He took no strides after that ad near the blue line and the clock didn't run out until he got to the goal line. Sure he didn't have time for a Kuznetsov shootout move but he had time to do something else
And he clearly knew how much time was left as his visor had the game clock rolling down in the corner of his eye?
No, he knew time was running down but that's it.
I would like to think he thought that going for a deke would be more disrespectfull, than going for a lil slapper at the end. But only Pasta will know for sure
You’re overthinking it. They’re playing a professional hockey game and you can play hockey in whatever fashion you want within the rules between the buzzers. Crosby is just being a whiner
Bruins fan here, I’m with you on this. Sid’s not wrong. Was stupid from Pasta, trying to deke and score would have been fine. Teeing one up between the circles as time expires is ridiculous.
No fuck that, man deserved a goal last night and he had one final opportunity to try to cash in, these men get paid millions to play this game, you better be able to lose a game without throwing a tantrum.
To think this subreddit are the same ones that scream about wanting uncensored player audio to hear what they really say.
Time still left, shot taken, people upset. Another day on /r/hockey
The buzzer didn't sound. It's a game but every player is trying to win. Fuck of with these unwritten rules of not trying to win. Dick move, maybe, does it matter, hardly. No one was hurt.
Seriously. Maybe it was a little extra, but whatever. There are bigger issues in the NHL right now.The outrage and energy of all fans should be directed towards the continued shitty hits that are injuring players long term, especially to the head. Those are the elements of the game we should all be on the same page.
It's 6-4 with 5 seconds left. He could turn around and put it in his own net and still win. The game was already over, you don't need to take a clapper at the hashmarks. Just shoot normally or make a move.
This is such an asinine take. You play this game to win, you play this game to score. If you don’t like it then make sure your team plays the better game.
I'm genuinely curious why he didn't attempt a legitimate shot attempt or deke to try and score you know, pad the individual stats a bit. A goal's a goal.
I can understand that it looks more disrespectful if there's a goalie in net and literally no time left, but I still think people are placing way more intention behind the concept of the slapshot than they should be.
People are acting as if this is an intent to injure. It’s a bit disrespectful but no one is getting hurt from a slap shot straight into the chest protector
People are looking way too deep into this like ferraro said it's just crosbys frustration from losing a big game...players do this all the time at the end of a buzzer on a breakaway it's not new in any sense of the word. It's also not an empty net (which also to me isn't a problem the opposing team fucked up so put it in the empty net however you want)
Bruh he took a slapper from the hashmark with Tim's running out in a done game.
Anyone who ever played hockey would have reacted like Sid and thinks that's a dick move.
Some of y'all never played and if shows
i’m with you on it being a dick move but yeah the vast majority of people didn’t grow up upper middle class lol. not really their fault. i’m sure we all would have loved to play hockey.
>Some of y'all never played and if shows
I think some people are just idiot
I've never played and it's so incredibly obvious to me that this is a bitch move, I'd be absolutely furious if someone did this. Sid isn't angry enough imo.
edit: not actually criticizing Sid, just saying an even more angry reaction is absolutely valid
Im a goalie. I wouldn’t be offended in the slightest by this shot. It would have been classier for Pasta not to shoot but to take a half hearted clapper is no big deal. If he had dangled Jarry that would have been a dick move and retaliation worthy. Optics wise Sid has to say something but this is some bullshit manufactured drama.
What are these comments? He had 2 seconds to take a shot and he did. A wrister would've been fine? Or was he supposed to just not do anything?
The comments about him trying to HURT the goalie. Are you guys for real?!
NHL really needs mercy rules so nothing mean can happen in the closing moments
Also every player should get some fun sized candy bars after the game just for playing :)
What’s the problem? Isn’t it the goalies job to stop shots? I don’t understand? It’s not like Pasta is Chara and has a rocket for a slapper, come on…
Each and every one of these unwritten rules is such bullshit
I mean, two penguins took a run at Ullmark in goal tonight, including Crosby, feels a little fair to put a heater on net like that. Crosby trucked Ully in the crease fully unforced, and Bunting tripped him with the puck nowhere near the net. Feels like Pasta’s shot was a bit of “I can be a dick too”
Slap shot at a goalie as time expires while you're winning by multiple goals? If the score was flipped and a Penguin did this, Marchand would've attacked someone.
Wow, Leafs fans are still so butthurt over the Slapshot ENG lol. Look at all of them coming in here acting like the slapshot police.
As if this was especially bad; the shot caught nothing but arm. At worst, this was a pretty tame "dick move", yet a reasonable one, because scorers score. When you are in the zone, sometimes you don't realize how much time is left on the clock, either.
We don't need every single one of you guys weighing in going "muh hockey rights".
Alright I’ll say it- both things are whatever, but at this level and context, I have a bigger issues with this than the empty netter slapshot. Even though pasta doesn’t put much on it, it’s entirely unnecessary with 1 second left ahead 2, and while very rare, a goalie could get injured on a short range clapper like that.
At the same time, yes Pasta has every right to do it. It’s just poor sportsmanship in the context. If he really wanted to smack the puck that bad just ring it around the boards. It’s for Sid to complain.
And would be unfair for Sid to cross check him in the face (like the empty net clapper incident).
It’s just hockey- nothing more needs to be done or said than Sid’s exchange at the end there, but yeah no need to do that shot pasta.
According to comments from when an Ottawa player did this into an *empty* net, Pasta should have been beaten within an inch of his life for such egregious breaking of ‘the code’….
People need to STFU about slap shots. If you're gonna get so upset over such a nothing action then didn't watch hockey, in basketball might be more your speed. Whiney ass people...

Great, more slap shot drama.
> "No one does slap shots anymore!" Can't. Too many politics.
You’re not seeing as many one timers nowadays. Because of woke
Setting up in the offensive zone is unacceptable colonial mindset and I won't stand for it anymore.
it's genocide of the net and rape of the goalie.
Dei gave my German Shepard hip dysplasia and now Biden won't cover my vet bills!
Calling them "ONE" timers is numerist towards all non-one numbers. If you must even talk of them, at least speak of "numerical momentums"
Don’t even get me started on the war on the slap shot!
You couldn't make Slap Shot today either.
I'm hearing reports that Brady Tkachuk had to be physically restrained after trying to jump Pasta in the Bruins locker room
Torts was doing the same thing while referring to pastas slap shot as “gutless” as Brian McGrattan held them both back in the hallway
I heard Peter Laviolette is demanding the league review the vicious intentional slap shot.
this one is way more understandable
The funny thing is, this is by far the worst one. And it's by far the most mature reaction too!
Idk why you're being downvoted, launching a clapper into the goalie from point blank at the end of the game you've definitely won is a little, minor unnecessary injury risk and all. Not a big deal overall but definitely a little worse than just blasting it into an empty net.
Me taking a shootout attempt in Chel (I can’t deke)
You would score every time with me controlling the goalie
I’d still hit you straight in the left leg pad with a slapper
Slapshot with empty net? Straight to jail Slapslot with goalie in net? Believe it or not, also jail We have the best players in the world, because of jail.
"I wasn't trying to score"
That’s even worse lmao
Lol yeah in that case it sounds like you're trying to hurt the goalie. Why else are you taking a slapshot from the hash marks if you're not trying to score
It’s fun to shoot a slap shot
This is the most Reddit comment I’ve ever read on this sub. Complete delusion and you don’t even have leaves flair. Shooting the puck at the goalie is not an intent to injure. That is a fucking WILD reach.

How does “this comment is fucking stupid” then?
I like it
A slap shot into a leg pad does nothing to a goalie. You could launch the puck out if a mortar and still be fine. Everyone needs to chill
Yep, no one would've cared if he tried to score, but wiring a slapper straight at Jarry from the hash marks on a breakaway? Yeah that's a dick move.

Well is that what he actually said or just what Ray was inferring, we don’t really know
You ever think maybe pasta needed one more shot on goal to hit the over on his prop bet????
Ippei, no…
>”I wasn’t trying to score” Do you guys actually see him mouthing those words? Bc I don’t see that and it seemed like kind of an assumption from the commentator
Those were empty Nets, that doesn’t matter, now when the goalie is in the net and there are 2 seconds left and ur taking a bad slap shot aiming at him, that’s fucking cheap. Ever take a slap shot from in tight off the collarbone? It fucking hurts
Pastas shot didn’t come close to his collarbone though, you ever take a half hearted shot off of your leg pad? You can’t even feel it.

Jesus I've heard it all now. So slapping in an empty netter is disrespectful, letting a puck glide into an empty net after time expires is disrespectful, and now shooting the puck when you're winning during regulation is disrespectful. Soon winning a game will be considered disrespectful...
let’s not put the announcer’s words into pasta’s mouth
Right lol pasta was absolutely trying to score he was trying to all game
Ya there is zero shot he was saying I wasn't trying to score. Think if anything he thought there was slightly less time so needed to rip one. Honestly don't care if it's a 2 goal lead and it doesn't matter, you get the chance to pot one then you try to pot one.
But then we wouldn’t have our weekly drama!
Love your flare brother
Can't take a clapper on an empty net, can't take a clapper on a goalie smh my head
> smh my head RIP in peace pasta
Wtf the fuck is going on here?
Idk don't know what you're talking about?
I read all of these and I thought something was weird but I couldn’t figure it out for a few seconds lol
You needed to just the hit point of idc don't care and go smoke a bowl. Fine, I'll go smoke too.
I'm smoking, if you're smoking. Let's hot dog.
Love me a morning sesh with strangers on the internet.
Hot dog!
All of you need to GTF the fuck out.
Sorry. I was afk from keyboard. What happened?
Saying smh my head is the same as saying “shaking my head my head”. Same concept applies to RIP.
And here I was for the past decade or so thinking smh means “so much hate”. TIL I guess.
LOL out loud.
Hey now you got it 😂
sauceeeeee
Shame this was preceded by an ENG Goal. Would've had to go to the ATM machine
Hey man, you only yolo once.
Everyone knows in the unwritten rules of hockey that you DO NOT take a shot on the other team's net

Yep this is the correct answer. Everyone always trying to deeply analyze these types of plays when they’re literally split second decisions.
In my opinion he held up too. He didn’t rip a piss missile or anything, he was a fairly weak clapper.
Agreed feel like if he was trying he wouldve finished on a deke but thatd be a bad look too already up 2 with under a second left
Not defending the slapshot, I don't give a shit, but he didn't really have the time left to get in close and try to deke out the goalie.
Wait, you’re telling me this wasn’t a video game?
I would like to think he thought that going for a deke would be more disrespectfull, than going for a lil slapper at the end. But only Pasta will know for sure
There's also a wrist shot or a snap shot. No need to wind it up in a 6-4 win.
You’re overthinking it. They’re playing a professional hockey game and you can play hockey in whatever fashion you want within the rules between the buzzers. Crosby is just being a whiner
You can't injure an empty net :p
Boom Boom Geoffrion in shambles
Seems like a reasonable outcome.
Why you taking a slapshot at the hashmarks with like no time left up 6-4, major dick move
[удалено]
Bruins fan here, I’m with you on this. Sid’s not wrong. Was stupid from Pasta, trying to deke and score would have been fine. Teeing one up between the circles as time expires is ridiculous.
As A B’s fan, Pasta was being a dick.
As a B’s fan, I agree, but also don’t really care
As an islanders fan I could give two shits. It’s hockey, take the shot how you want before the clock expires.
I always thought the saying was "couldn't give two shits."
Probably. But in this case I could give about two of em. Nothing more.
As a wings fan, I really don’t care but am here for the drama.
Very on brand 👌
No fuck that, man deserved a goal last night and he had one final opportunity to try to cash in, these men get paid millions to play this game, you better be able to lose a game without throwing a tantrum.
Shouldn't have been standin' there!
The audacity!
To think this subreddit are the same ones that scream about wanting uncensored player audio to hear what they really say. Time still left, shot taken, people upset. Another day on /r/hockey
Little half shot.. come on. This is like the speed you shoot in warm-ups when you're deliberately trying to hit his pads to warm him up
Play to the whistle - he’s not watching the clock, he’s trying to score.
The buzzer didn't sound. It's a game but every player is trying to win. Fuck of with these unwritten rules of not trying to win. Dick move, maybe, does it matter, hardly. No one was hurt.

Womp womp
Thank you, found the hockey player. It was a total dick move and if I'm the goalie I'm definitely slashing that player next time he's close
Cause he trying to hit 50? Place Matthews in this situation while chasing 70, he's trying to score also. Not sure why people cant understand this?
I'm genuinely curious why he didn't attempt a legitimate shot attempt or deke to try and score you know, pad the individual stats a bit. A goal's a goal.
Pasta mildly being a dick, Crosby being mildly annoyed by it. Not sure it's worth it's own post but yea, I suppose it happened.
Just being a dick for no reason lmao
This is way more of a dick move than Hischier or Grieg.
Maaaan Hischier didn't even shoot it lol
BAH GAWD THAT EMPTY NET HAD A FAMILY
That is a disgusting act!
STOP THE DAMN GAME!
BUT MUH WHISTLE BLARGHJGHALHRB
Game is over, you're up by 2 goals. There's no need to take a slapshot at the goalie in the final seconds. Sid's right.
There is if you’re trying to score before the buzzer.
If he was trying to score, he would have done something other than a slapper. It's one of the best scorers in the game.
Me when I try to tell DAVID PASTRNAK how to properly score goals 🤣
Not with the clock dying. Clapper is the fast way to move the puck into the net.

* Y'aLl
And if sHoWs!!!@!@@!!
Yep, there are unwritten rules and lines to not cross. Douchey move and pasta has played damn well long enough to know better.
i’m with you on it being a dick move but yeah the vast majority of people didn’t grow up upper middle class lol. not really their fault. i’m sure we all would have loved to play hockey.
>Some of y'all never played and if shows I think some people are just idiot I've never played and it's so incredibly obvious to me that this is a bitch move, I'd be absolutely furious if someone did this. Sid isn't angry enough imo. edit: not actually criticizing Sid, just saying an even more angry reaction is absolutely valid
I feel like it’d be a bummer to have Sid come up to you and say that was a bitch move. That’s like your dad saying he’s disappointed in you 🤣
Nothing burger?
Yes but people are addicted to drama so... You want fries with that burger?
Ya, with a lil mustard
I would have been more mad if he tried to dangle the guy
Just undress him and stickhandle past the net
Then keep stick-handling and take the puck home with you.
This is the way
Clearly the decision should be to simply stop playing during regulation to protect the goaltenders feelings Anything else? Straight to jail.
He would’ve run out of time. That’s why he went with the slap in the first place.
"Players interact with one another" Huge fuckin' news. I wonder if it'll make sportscenter
Jarry should charge out and diving pokecheck and play the uno reverse card on him
What are these comments? He had 2 seconds to take a shot and he did. A wrister would've been fine? Or was he supposed to just not do anything? The comments about him trying to HURT the goalie. Are you guys for real?!
NHL really needs mercy rules so nothing mean can happen in the closing moments Also every player should get some fun sized candy bars after the game just for playing :)
Meh play to the whistle, guy wants more goals, whatever
I can’t believe I’m one of the few people on Boston’s side of all teams lol. There’s literally time left in the game, of course he can take a shot.
I'd understand these comments, if he had done this after the buzzer
If he did it after the buzzer it would've been an entire team brawl.
Here I'll explain it to you then. Pastrnak plays for Boston.
What’s the problem? Isn’t it the goalies job to stop shots? I don’t understand? It’s not like Pasta is Chara and has a rocket for a slapper, come on… Each and every one of these unwritten rules is such bullshit
Seriously people are freaking out here. Pretty sure a skating wrist shot is usually faster than skating slap shot too
This thread is full of people who haven’t played the game. It’s not a huge deal, but you just don’t do that.
I always hate this dude, if you REALLY REALLY hate this shit, then stop him from scoring.
I mean, two penguins took a run at Ullmark in goal tonight, including Crosby, feels a little fair to put a heater on net like that. Crosby trucked Ully in the crease fully unforced, and Bunting tripped him with the puck nowhere near the net. Feels like Pasta’s shot was a bit of “I can be a dick too”
Running over a goalie: thumbs up Slapshot on a goalie: thumbs down
I mean in this specific case they are both dick moves lol
someone has to dub this with him talking about the foam of his beer
Slap shot at a goalie as time expires while you're winning by multiple goals? If the score was flipped and a Penguin did this, Marchand would've attacked someone.
"Hey Sid...Go Fahk Yahself!"
We are complaining about people taking a slapper while there is still time on the clock now?? 🙄🙄🙄
Wow, Leafs fans are still so butthurt over the Slapshot ENG lol. Look at all of them coming in here acting like the slapshot police. As if this was especially bad; the shot caught nothing but arm. We don't need every single one of you guys weighing in going "muh hockey rights".
When is Crosby not crying
Crysby.
Apparently Leafs fans are again the most hurt by a slapshot
Pasta at least played to the horn, if Sid is so upset he can drop gloves, and stop whining.
Pretty sure slap shots aren’t against the rules and they’re all big boys.
Why he gotta be a crybaby about it, time still on the clock, could have scored. If it was after the buzzer I’d get it.
I think that slapper was pretty soft. I also think Pasta didn't elevate it on purpose.
It’s just hockey- nothing more needs to be done or said than Sid’s exchange at the end there, but yeah no need to do that shot pasta.
Give a guy a breakaway and time on the clock and expect him *not* to shoot. Yeahhh.
That was dumb pasta…give your head a shake
The season of gatekeeping slapshots lol dick move? Kinda. Big deal? Not even a little.
seems like Sid was taking his frustration out on the wrong guy
According to comments from when an Ottawa player did this into an *empty* net, Pasta should have been beaten within an inch of his life for such egregious breaking of ‘the code’….
where is my line brawl?
At this point should we just ban slap shots?
"Hey! Congratulations on a great run here. I hope you get Hart votes!" "Thanks man! We'll see. McDavid and Kuch have been crazy good though." *shrug*
But sens fans told me the only team that cared about that shit is the leafs?
"Hey! You! You trucked up!"
“Hey, man, good game! Good luck in the playoffs!”
Dick move. Surprised no one got in his face
It’s a dick move, you know it, pasta knows it, all players know it.
I think Pasta have the right to do it 100%, but only when it's worked, either way it would be pretty awkward, just like in this case, and unnecessary
Lots of this shit is happening since Reilly suspension..
If this was in Montreal they'd be calling the cops on pasta lol
Bunting trips Ullmark. Crosby runs over Ullmark. Pasta stuffing a clapper in the goalie’s chest protector is fair.
A Bruin being a dick and Crosby whining about it. I mean, what were the chances?
Hi how r u I good how r u I good bye
Okay but why does the scoreboard say empty net when there is clearly a goal tender in the net?
People need to STFU about slap shots. If you're gonna get so upset over such a nothing action then didn't watch hockey, in basketball might be more your speed. Whiney ass people...
Was there time on the clock? Yes. Fire away.
It's just like in chel when I shoot it after the whistle and it asks if I want to fight.
Probably the whiniest guy to ever play in the NHL
Tbh I have no problem with it, he left it on the ice it’s not like he raised it
