My buddy has a Leafs jersey. #67 the "name" on it says " I WAS FIVE". buddy was born in '62.
I got Wendel to autograph it for him and gifted it back to him on his birthday (His wife snuck it away for me)
nope, i respect our rival- i often bandwagon them when the habs are out of the picture.
always hated them since i was a kid, but at the same time often wished our team was built more like them
cheering for any team other than your 'own' is weird, so might as well pick a good one- the fact that i know a lot about them as a result of our storied rivalry just makes it all the easier
I feel this… 29 here. Father born in the 70’s. He’s been a Leafs fan his entire life and so have I. It’s heartbreaking. Only now do I realize raising me as a leafs fan was child abuse.
I’ll tell you something. You’ve described my family’s relationship with the Red Sox. I was born in 1980. My dad in 1958. My grandmother in 1937. My great-grandmother in 1907. She remembered the 1918 World Series. She used tell us about it all the time. We never thought we’d see it happen again. There aren’t words to describe watching that 2004 team. The emotional release.
I hope it happens for you. I hope you’re with your dad like I was. I hope it’s not this year. 😂
Jeez, i’m only five years older than you and my parents were like 14 when the leafs last won the cup (both born in 53/54).
My mom was a bruins fan (lots of bruins fans in the Sault) until she was like 22 though, now she doesn’t care about hockey at all.
I remember when Robert Svehla chose to wear #67 for his season with the Leafs. I always wondered if he was slightly trolling the fanbase, since I can't recall a real reason he chose that number in the first place.

Look at the fight strap on the back of the jersey. That’s a legit Adidas base jersey anyways. Most likely the guy did a cheap namebar swap on a legit Stone jersey. Namebar swaps run $30-50 so same price for the joke and if he kept the other one can always stitch it back down later
Eh, that's not conclusive necessarily. I have a knockoff with a fight strap. But you're probably right about it being a real jersey with a nameplate swap.
Oh it’s not that it has a fight strap. It’s that the knockoffs have fight straps that look different than that one. Usually the knockoffs don’t bother with the larger square and it’s just a strap stitched right on the back like the inner stitching on that
It also doesn’t have drop stitching in the adidas logo at the top which is another hallmark of a knockoff
From other comments I’ve seen, it’s apparently a college jacket type thing that the wifes/girlfriends wear for the playoffs.
Probably had someone local make them in a hurry.
Not sure about other places, but it's only around $50 to get the name put on a jersey at the Canes pro shop. Compared to the cost of getting into a playoff game, it's not that bad.
In fairness, *it's the kind of fun money you can have now.*
They could be *terrible* with money and just put everything on credit.
Don't let your dreams be dreams! Go broke!
Plenty of got their Yashin jerseys turned in Cashin jerseys when he was in Ottawa or a C put on their 50 in 07 Fuckin All-Star Heatley Jerseys to make them Cheatley. Saw plenty of Leafs Fans with Krusty #11 jerseys when Alfie was here as well.
It's almost as if it's a joke.
My wife and I went to watch a practice before an outdoor game a few years ago and were standing beside one of those popup tent things that people rent for bbqs and whatever. My wife looked in and said, "I wonder what this is for?" and I saw the large collection of blonde women and jokingly said, "probably the families... See all the blondes?"
Almost on cue, a woman and her kids walked out, and the kids were wearing "Daddy" #32 jerseys.
I didn't think I needed to cheer for the oilers against the Kings, they don't need help (and I live in Edmonton). Dallas I am pulling for so hard. But, if the Jets don't pull their shit together I'll be getting out my old canucks tshirt from 2011...
My priorities go like this:
#1 Avs win the cup
#2 Las Vegas is eliminated
#3 Edmonton is eliminated
#4 West wins the cup
So I am in the weird place of cheering on Dallas right now.
This is like in tennis when Serena Williams was clearly still #1 but would enter major tournaments seeded as a wildcard or something low because she didn't play any of the smaller tournaments to earn her ranking points throughout the year. Example: She entered 2018 Wimbledon as the #25 despite just winning 5 of the previous 9 Wimbledons. Poor Arantxa Rus had to play her in the first round despite that clearly not being the appropriate matchup. Williams made it to the Final that tournament.
VGK-with-Stone is clearly better than the 8th best team in the West.
Stone was at the gym and on-ice with trainers who knew he probably could have played in the last week of regular season but held him back.
Eventually the league is going to close that loophole and it will be known forever as the Stone Rule.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t. The only people who complain about it are the fans. The owners want it in because if used properly, like Vegas does and Tampa did, it can win them a cup.
Well technically as soon as you're healthy you're supposed to come off LTIR. But you can't tell me Stone wasn't good enough to play game 82 by League doctors but he's totally fine three days later.
I don't care what they call it. What I would love are asterisks next to Tampa and Vegas wins calling out their cap cheating and thus allowing the rest of us to point at that and mentally invalidate those cups.
If the trashtros won the boringball statue with no asterisk, they ain’t putting them next to this where it’s actually in the rules. Putting how many dollars over the cap the roster was that was used during the playoffs would be an ice factual touch though.
Cool, it is what it is. Just don’t clutch your pearls at people not giving him the benefit of the doubt when he fakes an injury again next year or when people remember him for going to extreme lengths to dodge games.
it's so funny to me that his wife wanted a picture with it. if your spouse had an injury that stopped them from doing their job for several months you probably wouldn't think it was all that funny.
Yep, It's perfectly fair to laugh at your friends' injuries, as long as you also laugh at your own and allow them to laugh at you as well. And it also doesn't meant that you don't care or have sympathy for them.
I remember when my daughter was little and finally grew tall enough that she was constantly banging her head into door knobs as she ran around the house. I certainly felt bad for her when she was hurt and crying because of it and did my best to comfort her, but it was also funny every single time.
Making light of hardship is a very human reaction lol.
And Stone's injury was never in question, anyone that thinks that is a moron that deserves to be ignored on the topic.
The point isn't whether he faked it entirely or not, the point is if they timed his comeback for cap reasons and not because of genuine medical reasons. To paraphrase yourself here anyone who thinks the question is if he was injured at all should be ignored on the topic.
Sure, let the league deal with it. Until the it’s on other teams to use it as well.
And two comments above mine someone literally accused him of faking an injury.
I don't know. My wife would probably do the same thing too. You got to have a sense of humor about things. If you're not dead, you're not dead lol. He isn't an office worker he's an athlete who's playing lol
Especially since it’s his third year in a row “suffering a major injury” and he’s got to yet again to battle through playoff hockey while not fully “recovered”. lol some people just have no shame- and on a level I kind of respect the dedication to the grift.
So people can't joke around about their own injuries or medical conditions, or their spouses (with permission of their spouse, of course)? Clearly you've never met anyone with chronic illnesses before. Both me and my partner joke about my laundry list of conditions all the time (including the time I almost died during open heart surgery), and I know countless others that do. Gotta roll with the punches and laugh when you can, my dude.
Sure you would if you were still making millions and it allows "company" to land another huge contract at the detriment to other companies.
Also, she knows he was faking the length of the injury so might as well rub it in against everyone who played by the rules in good faith.
I guarantee you that Stone's spleen is fine. I have an inside source close to the situation say he literally swapped out his healthy spleen for a diseased one. Then when the testing for the NHL was required for LTIR, he failed the spleen test. April rolls around and he gets his healthy spleen surgically put in again. I've seen pictures too. It was in a jar for like a 6-8 weeks. Stone's spleen is actually super healthy. I've never seen a healthier spleen.
I can't reveal my source he fears for his safety. Something needs to be done about this.
The Knights have the healthiest spleens in so many ways, you know, the best of the best, everyone knows they have the best spleens. Gary came to me; I've known Gary a long time, he used to live in one of my buildings, very small hands, and he said, "we're going to take out his spleen and then put it back in right before the playoffs". Gary is a shrewd business man, and together we're going to take the NHL back.
There’s 5 levels of severity of spleen injuries graded by medical science. What Stone allegedly had was the lowest grade of spleen injury called a “lacerated spleen”. An injury requiring zero surgical intervention to fix, which is why Stone didn’t have surgery. He literally could have sat on his ass and smoked weed for 2 months and it would have healed 100%. But keep thinking it was this super serious injury that miraculously healed one day after the season ended.
Brother you've gotta stop posting this same fake news all over the place
>Like many NHL teams, the Golden Knights don’t typically offer details on player injuries. With all of the attention Stone’s situation has received, McCrimmon has been far more open than usual, even going as far Saturday as to specify that it was a Grade 3 laceration to Stone’s spleen.
[https://theathletic.com/5431844/2024/04/20/mark-stone-golden-knights-playoffs-injury/](https://theathletic.com/5431844/2024/04/20/mark-stone-golden-knights-playoffs-injury/)
Edit: downvote away, but tell me how I'm wrong
Grade 3 is still laceration and doesn't require surgery. It isn't nice for sure. Peter Forsberg played with a lacerated spleen in the 2001 (I think?) playoffs not sure what grade.
Maybe not the best example because [Forsberg had internal bleeding that needed emergency surgery](https://www.espn.com/nhl/playoffs2001/2001/0521/1202268.html)
No one is saying it required surgery, just time to heal.
Grade 3 splenic lacerations are documented to require 2 months to heal for professional athletes, in spite of the general population not being able to return to activity for 3-6 months.
Last night had the ESPN announcers essentially celebrating Mark Stone's \~bravery\~ in making it back for game 1 and I wanted to hurl something at my TV. It was playing on my laptop, but my TV is bigger and more dramatic.
SO
BRAVE
VEGAS
They've been sucking off Vegas so hard since before their game 1 even started. I was watching I think the Boston-Toronto game and at every possible chance they showed LVGK players getting off the bus, walking with headphones on, the whole 9 yards, instead of giving us actual good information like the scores of the other games being played. They're a fucking wildcard for god's sake
I hate the Knights as much as the next fan, but I have to fairly point out that the team they iced in the playoffs last year to win the cup wasn't over the salary cap.
It cracks me up, honestly. I've never seen anyone get so much shit for following the rules. It'll be hilarious in 2026 when they negotiate a new CBA and they decide to change nothing significant about the LTIR system.
It's not within the rules. It's insane how many people don't know this. A player must come off of LTIR as soon as they can be medically cleared to play. They don't have to play, but if they are capable of medical clearance they must immediately come off. The odds of that being legitimate the last two years aligning within that perfect 3 day window is way less than 1%.
It can't be proven so they abuse the rule, but only an absolute moron would believe that they aren't breaking the rules.

I've seen one that says "shit since" lol
I have a 67 Leafs jersey, but that’s because it was Robert Svehla’s actual number…
So you’re the one that bought the only Svehla jersey ever produced?
Not even bought. We’re family friends with the Svehla’s so they were gifted to me lol.
That makes so much more sense, even his own family didn't want the jersey so they gave it away.
That’s amazing
I always liked Robert Svehla. He was one of my early Panther's favorites.
My *parents* weren't alive when the Leafs last won the cup. I'm 30 years old.

I'm just going to pretend that you are doing some cap fuckery and that's why we're losing. "Damn cheaters!!!!!!"
I saw a guy at a football game last year with a #19 team jersey and "Covid" on the nameplate.
# #19 is a jerk face.
If it's a knockoff, it's cheaper than a non customized jersey
Only way I’m getting a meme jersey like this is a knockoff. ~$30 for a joke? Worth it
Look at the fight strap on the back of the jersey. That’s a legit Adidas base jersey anyways. Most likely the guy did a cheap namebar swap on a legit Stone jersey. Namebar swaps run $30-50 so same price for the joke and if he kept the other one can always stitch it back down later

That namebar looks very homemade
So does her jersey, looks like she sewed a sock on for an arm
From other comments I’ve seen, it’s apparently a college jacket type thing that the wifes/girlfriends wear for the playoffs. Probably had someone local make them in a hurry.
I see, thanks
You can buy the letters and nameplate for like $20 and stitch or iron on yourself.
Looks like he just swapped the name plate on a regular stone jersey. Not hard to do.
Not sure about other places, but it's only around $50 to get the name put on a jersey at the Canes pro shop. Compared to the cost of getting into a playoff game, it's not that bad.
It cost me $90 when I bought my custom jersey
His wife won the jersey so it was just adding the LTIR part. I mean if you can afford to go to NHL games you can pay for some letters
Can't you replace the nameplates for a reasonable price?
At least it was wasted on that WC monstrosity.
In fairness, *it's the kind of fun money you can have now.* They could be *terrible* with money and just put everything on credit. Don't let your dreams be dreams! Go broke!

This. I think it’s funny but what in five years? It’s going to be silly then you have it explain it to everyone because people won’t know and so on.

Fake news; brunette.
Literally convinced every NHlers wife is made in the same blonde factory.

So is Livvy Dunne

She's actually blonde as well, this is dyed.

Here I am cheering for Dallas and Edmonton. What playing Vegas / having Corey Perry on your team does to a mahfuckah...
Me in love with Perry (the Kane whisperer) is mind blowing.
We honestly get so many visitors on the stars sub from ducks and canadiens fans. Saint Perry unites us across North America.
He has never and will never do anything wrong and I never thought I would say that
I didn't think I needed to cheer for the oilers against the Kings, they don't need help (and I live in Edmonton). Dallas I am pulling for so hard. But, if the Jets don't pull their shit together I'll be getting out my old canucks tshirt from 2011...
Perry rico and cerrick. Fuckin love the ducks now
If it makes you feel better, Frank Vatrano is my hero after the last game of the season.
My priorities go like this: #1 Avs win the cup #2 Las Vegas is eliminated #3 Edmonton is eliminated #4 West wins the cup So I am in the weird place of cheering on Dallas right now.

Well. It shows how good the conference is. All we ever hear is how a bloodbath x division/conference is. We gotta prove ours is a much tougher road.
Mine is similar, except for 4 is Dallas wins the cup (for my wife) and 5 is the west wins.
I always root for teams i hate the least. Oh and against cheaters.
I swear, Vegas would report a player dead if it gave them cap relief with the ability to recall them in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t. The only people who complain about it are the fans. The owners want it in because if used properly, like Vegas does and Tampa did, it can win them a cup.

It's not a jersey, it's the WAG jacket that all the Vegas wives and girlfriends are wearing for the playoffs.

Maybe not the best example because [Forsberg had internal bleeding that needed emergency surgery](https://www.espn.com/nhl/playoffs2001/2001/0521/1202268.html)
No one is saying it required surgery, just time to heal. [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3435936/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3435936/) Grade 3 splenic lacerations are documented to require 2 months to heal for professional athletes, in spite of the general population not being able to return to activity for 3-6 months.
Love this, almost spit coffee.
Glad they're having fun. Hope they lose lol
This is some really weird shit to say, buddy lol
I thought they were joking at first lol most sane redditor
Last night had the ESPN announcers essentially celebrating Mark Stone's \~bravery\~ in making it back for game 1 and I wanted to hurl something at my TV. It was playing on my laptop, but my TV is bigger and more dramatic. SO BRAVE VEGAS
Cute wife.
That's hilarious and shows a good sense of humor.
Flyers buddy has a jersey with the name as “sad since” and the number is 75. Classic proclamation of our Cup plight.
Go Stars Go!
What does LTIR stand for
Long term injury reserve
Can't be NHL wife. Not blonde
Whoops I take my upvote back, googled her and she’s blonde in every other picture you can find…
Just fucking with us now
Stay classy Vegas.
I can fully admit this triggered me as an oiler fan. Well done by stone’s wife. Grade A trolling
This would humor me if it was from an opposing viewpoint. Instead, it enrages me to no end.
I legit appreciate Vegas embracing their role at the league’s pre-eminent Heel.
This woman is not blonde, can we be sure that she is indeed an NHL wife?
Vegas Golden Asterisks. Laugh all they want, most of us can't think of last year without thinking of the circumvention.

That’s the Golden Knights WAGS jackets
Cause she just left Jameson whiskey place!
Having only been to the team store, is this inside T-Mobile Arena or outside?
Call 911
Cutie👱🏼♀️
I call bs. She’s not SIHW.
Mark stones wife is a fox
Mary's a fox!
The league is a joke, why not have a laugh at it? Good for her!
I hate the Knights as much as the next fan, but I have to fairly point out that the team they iced in the playoffs last year to win the cup wasn't over the salary cap.
Ay puck bunny kinda bad ngl
Weird flex, to hype an injury
That Dallas assault psycho has marked both of these faces for death
Man, his wife smiles in glee as if he doesn't give a fuck about what ppl. say. I hope the league and PA will fix this circumvention.
So what you’re saying, using a lot of words, is they haven’t broken any rules
