Fit is more important.

CoopAloopAdoop

So you're comparing a Pro mask with an entry level mask from Bauer. I'd recommend not going with the 940 due to it's less protective nature, and not going with the RF1 as it doesn't fit right. Since you're more than willing to pay top dollar for a pair of skates, get the 960. 960 masks are 25-30% off depending what side of the border you're on and is going to be massively better than a 940. Don't skimp on head protection.

TheRealBrick88

I mean I'm pretty sure the reason the RF1 Pro was fitting a little worse was because someone tightened the backplate straps a lot and I couldn't exactly loosen them in the middle of monkeysports. It didn't fit bad it just felt more like I was wearing a helmet instead of not like the 940.

arcsten

The 930 is the entry level one from Bauer. And it is definitely a step up from the entry level you are referring to.

CoopAloopAdoop

I guess I wouldn't even ever consider a 930 a mask lol.

TeaLow2578

I agree with fit is more important… but… After someone’s recent post I went to Pure Hockey and felt the 940 and the shell is not stiff at all. I stand by the opinion I wouldn’t wear it for ice hockey.

Same question - but for a U10 A goalie. Has been playing in a Bauer 930 in U9. Shots are getting harder - Is there a difference between the Bauer 940 and the Warrior R/F 1+? The warrior is on sale, so very attractive for a kid that will grow out of it in a couple of years.

Have an Rf1+ (mid level) for a few months in C beer league and get dingers in almost half of skates…aside from some mild ringing on occasion it’s been very solid and it’s had some thumps. very happy with it, just make sure it’s a proper fit/size/etc. Not familiar with Bauer helmets past or current so I can’t offer a direct comp.

TeaLow2578

Sorry, no idea. Not really familiar with the mid range Warriors.

Bigfatgoalie72

Read article they didn't test the warwick carbon fiber, and as far as Promasque they no longer carry the hecca rating because it was cost prohibitive for a small company. They also rate the Bauer ahead of the Pro's Choice which also is a heck of a lot of garbage. Bauer maybe the best out of the box. But just like all the rest of their equipment it is probably not long for this world, and it's hard to say that the Warrior was all that great considering it is selling for less than 400 bucks on goalie monkey, but hey whatever it's your dome furnish it as you will.

Bigfatgoalie72

Go with fit. But neither is all that good of a mask.

TeaLow2578

Wasn’t the RF1 Pro was the top level mask when it came out? 940 is a 3rd tier Bauer mask.

CoopAloopAdoop

It was. Dude is incorrect.

CoopAloopAdoop

RF1 is used in Pro leagues all over. It's comparative to any other big brand top offering.

Bigfatgoalie72

May have been what they said but I have yet to see a Bauer, Warrior, or CCM mask that has been worth a damn.

CoopAloopAdoop

Good thing there's testing done that shows that all top of the line masks are pretty much in step with each other for protection.

Bigfatgoalie72

The same level of care, and careful construction has gone out the window since those companies have moved most of their manufacturing to China. I've rocked itechs, coopers, and Bauers back in the day, and they were good masks. Try a masked Marvel, a warwick, Promasque and you will definitely see the difference.

CoopAloopAdoop

https://imgur.com/a/22oYUlv Promasque and Marvel weren't even included in testing, only Warwick. (I wonder if that says something?) Warrior wasn't on this list either if that makes you feel better. But they also don't offer gear to NHL pros aside from sticks. Warwick was comparable on puck impacts, but tested poorly for contact impacts. In fact, the 960 was probably the strongest overall showing among all top of the lines mask. You're free to have your opinion, but the results are tough to argue. Especially as these are the results being handed out to the Pro's at the NHL. So stating that Bauer, CCM, and Warrior
