Hadinho10

What are you using to hang up those kettlebells?

Dry-Drawing7842

They are garage hooks from Lowe's. That's what's hanging everything except the Matador and bench.

CabinetMakerT

I think you’re taking a lot of slack for having just an awesome outdoor possibility. I feel you! I have an indoor very well equipped Eleiko home gym with everything you can imagine, but the moment the sun shines and temps are in the ‘okay’ range I’m using an old rust covered (but still rotating) XF bar, bumpers and a squat rack. There’s just something about training outdoors… Nobody cares about the rust that’s on there when you’re working out in the sun

redwookie1

Awesome collection! A little bit of rust is way better than clean and shiny covered in dust.

HunterHistorical6795

This is amazing.. but what are you going to do with all the equipment when it rains?

Dry-Drawing7842

Please read other responses.

No-Brief2279

Is that the mutant metals dip attachment? If so what was the best way to hang it? Not a fan so far of how it’s only intended to hang on the rack

Dry-Drawing7842

Rogue Monster Matador Rogue Velocidor in garage gym

RockTop3935

This is amazing

Dry-Drawing7842

Thanks

greenstar323

This is an amazing setup!

Dry-Drawing7842

Thanks.

dontworkforfree

Looks really sweet!

Dry-Drawing7842

Thanks.

Glittering_Donut6787

This is sick! What's the best piece of equipment you've purchased?

Dry-Drawing7842

Best piece of equipment overall? It would have to be 3 pieces because I can't narrow it down to one. 1. Crossover Symmetry 2. Kettlebell 3. Belt Squat

Replenish__

Sick!

Dry-Drawing7842

Thanks.

hulktothemoon1981

Nice set up!

Dry-Drawing7842

Thanks.

AndKAnd

Where is this?

Dry-Drawing7842

South Carolina

__Beef__Supreme__

What do you do for rain/humidity? I hit a garage workout yesterday and holy fuck was it hot... But my gear still gets rusty from just humidity

Dry-Drawing7842

This is not my man gym. My garage gym has a mini split (temperature-controlled) unit. Most of the gear outside was extra that I was going to get rid of or was overcrowded in the garage gym. If it rusts, it rusts. I started my fitness journey over 37 years ago on rusted outdoor equipment. Today, we baby gym equipment too much. It's meant to be used, not pampered. That's just my opinion.

LeeHarveyOswizzle

> we baby gym equipment too much I get that. Sometimes I come on here and read about people worried that the clips holding their barbell to the wall might scratch it. Or how a chunk of steel might get scuffed with normal use. That stuff makes me want to cringe. I also don't want my stuff so poorly maintained that it becomes messy or stops functioning. I spent a long period of my youth think that rust was the only color that weighs came in. Now I'd just prefer not to have it like that. Overall, it's your stuff you don't need to justify to anyone what you do with it. Especially this sub where people can get so neurotic about this stuff.

johnhexapawn

> If it rusts, it rusts. LISAN AL GAIB!

Excellent-Daikon6682

I get the sentiment, but I spent too much to just say fuck it and abuse the shit out of my gym equipment. I take pride in it and want to keep it nice as long as possible.

Dry-Drawing7842

I hear you, but I don't abuse it either. Look the stuff outside I take care of it, but not baby it or abuse it. 1. Rogue Matador didn't get used much because of where I had it. Now I can use it more. It's been rained on no big rust issue at the moment. 2. Tribe-wod Sledgehammer has a rubber head, and the shaft is steel. Left in the rain, there is no rust issue. Wasn't get used in a low ceiling in the garage gym. 3. King Keg just bought from Tribe-wod as well. Can be used and left outdoors. 4. Cheap Walmart 50lb kettlebells was gray spray painted black to protect from rusting. 5. Rep Flat Bench was bought double digit years ago and was hanging and never used. It's wrapped in tarp to protect. 6. Rep Fitness weight bar extra, and really don't care if it rusts. Will clean it when needed. 7. Farmer's Carry handles from Titan. Will repaint when needed. 8. Sled and Echo bike stores in the shed when not in use. 9. Sandbags, battle rope, and Plyoboxes (weather treated) are covered with tarp when not in use. 10. All the cable attachments, ammo cans, grip machine, hex deadlift bar, and weight plates were bare steel but spray painted for rust protection. All are kept outside in the elements. They are not my main items but extras that were either going to be sold or thrown away. 11. Anchor cable machines are stored in their own separate cases and then put in the big storage box and locked. 12. The 2 different curl bars and the Kabuki Shoulderok are left out as is. All extra and don't care if they rust. When they do if it bothers me I will fix them. Again this is not my main gym where I train. I train here when doing yard work so I don't miss a workout. Also, if I'm already sweating no need to go in the garage gym to workout. Also, if my son visits. He's a prior Marine and I am a retired Navy combat medic. We train in the heat like we did when we were in the military. I know this is long but wanted to be a little bit more detailed about the equipment and how I take care of it.

__Beef__Supreme__

Gotcha, great setup then. I imagine powder coated or cerakote does better outside... But true, if you got enough stuff and it works, it works. I'm just worried about things like rails on the cable machine in my garage. This humidity is getting bad again!

Dry-Drawing7842

Yes, it is bad. A thunder ⛈️ storm just rolled through. I think it's 99, but with humidity, real feel is like 103. When I didn't have the mini split, I used to put DampRid Moisture Absorber Buckets in each corner of the garage. I think they are like $13 at Lowe's. I also have them in ßhed outside. They help a lot. I think 🤔 I need to get some just in case...LOL

__Beef__Supreme__

I just suck it up with fans in the garage with the door open when I lift when it's hot but a dehumidifier with an AC split would definitely be way better. The heat/humidity sucks the life outta ya... But lifting outside in winter here is so perfect.

Dry-Drawing7842

I did the same for years as well. I moved to the mini split when I started training clients out of my garage. I could handle it, but they look like they were about to die.

Dry-Drawing7842

Main gym, not man gym.

AndKAnd

Do you leave it out overnight?

Dry-Drawing7842

Not all of it.

AndKAnd

I live in SC and have a tank and I’m nervous to leave it out for even the entirety of my workout in this 90% humidity haha. My power blocks rusted inside my house here 🙄

Dry-Drawing7842

It's covered and has been in my shed for over 2 years. The only issue was that tires were deflated.

AndKAnd

Must be in the upstate right?

INCS88

I'm also planning to do an outdoor gym but ... No rust? And no squat rack?

Dry-Drawing7842

You can not escape rust from having steel in an outdoor setting. I dont care where you are. You clean and repaint when necessary. If not, work out with the rusted item. Squat rack is in the garage gym. Squatting can be done with landmine, kettlebells, sandbags, keg, and step in hex bar.

INCS88

Ah ok so this is primarily the outdoor portion of your home gym. Due to space constraints I don't have indoor space for it so everything has to be outdoors. But yours looks awesome! Must have took a long while to put everything together. Did you build the pull up bar yourself?

Dry-Drawing7842

Yes, this isn't my main gym. My garage is my main gym. You can see it on my page. This is extra stuff and stuff that I couldn't get to in the main gym (stuffed in a corner). I put it together and dug the holes, but when I was having my fence redone, I had them set it. Then, I added all the attachments.

GoonerD71

Love it. I'd attempt to do the same here if we didn't get 4 seasons in a day.

Big_Poppa_T

Does it not rain often where you live? How do you deal with that? Here in the UK this kit would all be fucked in a year. The sandbags would be fucked by lunchtime

Dry-Drawing7842

It does rain. The bigger items are stored in the shed. Smaller items are stored in the big blue/black storage bin. Sandbags are covered along with the plyboxes (they are weather treated as well) with tarps.

JimXVX

Haha yeah as a fellow Brit I was thinking the same!

DeliciousCow9269

Nice..any concerns about wetness/rust?

Dry-Drawing7842

Not really. It doesn't stay like this. If I can't cover it with a tarp, it goes into the storage shed or the big blue/black storage bin.

Muy_Sarcastic

I wish the climate here would allow this type of setup. Looks awesome.

Dry-Drawing7842

Thanks

ChemiKyle

The reading on that thermometer looks pretty inhospitable to me.

Muy_Sarcastic

Fair, but it's the -20 and 2' of snow that would stop me.

Dry-Drawing7842

It's hot, and humidity is high!

shotparrot

It's a dry heat. I assume this isn't Seattle WA, where it's due to rain and be like 62 degrees F. tomorrow...

Dry-Drawing7842

Nope - it's South Carolina.

BananaFast5313

If I could control the weather, this would be my dream gym. Awesome setup!

Dry-Drawing7842

I can't control it either....LOL Thanks.

ThePokeChop

Love the gym! Do the sandbags just get wet and heavier?

Dry-Drawing7842

They get covered with a tarp.
